In ear headphones on itouch 2nd gen

I just bought an in ear headphones with volume adjustable, it does state that it will work on ipod touch 2nd gen
couple of questions
how do I KNOW THAT MY ITOCH IS 2ND GEN????????
is there anithing I have to set up on the itocuh to use the volume adjustable buttons on the headphones????

To The first question, If you've got a rocker on the left hand side of your touch (for volume) that's a 2g touch and the second question, You don't need to do anything to use the volume control play/pause track forward/back, it works out of the box. I've just bought the apple headphones with mike & remote & just plugged them in and they worked without me doing anything

Sounds to me like the battery has failed.
You can take it to an Apple Store. They MAY be able to do something.. Or, you can find parts and "How-To" repair guides on the internet. eBay and Google are your friends...

What you do mean a lock icon?
On the whole screen or just in the status bar where it shows "iPod" and Time/Battery?
If the icon's there everything's ok. The feature was removed in iOS 6, anyways, the icon should be only in the lock screen.

Itouch 2nd gen. have to renew lease after every sleep mode

Recently my wife and I are having trouble with constantly renewing the lease for internet through wifi in our home. Wife has ipad and I have itouch 2nd gen. Any one know how to fix this. Can't think of any changes except for my itouch upgrading to 4.2.1

Yes, I tried resetting the network on both devices, but was unsuccessful. I did a total reset of the modem and router and the problem remained. Finally, I enabled the RIP which allows the router to send and recieve packets from the ISP. This seemed to have fixed the problem. I have not had to renew lease, since. Thank you for your reply. That was a good start.

i have a itouch 2nd gen which can't update to ios6 and theres no point for me to keep it. Is it possible to exchange to a newer gen of itouch? I dont need the newest gen but an itouch that can be update to ios6.

I still have the itouch 2nd gen .
its not working properly , it doesnt let me slide to unlock it everytime and it doens sensor your finger at all .
and i cant download any app anymore

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Before you restore the iPod make sure that your iTunes library has the version of apps that are presently installed on your iPod. Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them to your iTunes library. See:

Itouch 2nd gen continual crashes

My itouch 2nd gen is crashing with a lot of apps. I checked the wired RAM and it's 60%, when I use a program to free the RAM, it crashes too. I've taken off all video, quite a few apps, and this still happens.

Well, I'm afraid of all that I will lose if I restore to factory defaults. Not at all sure that I have everything backed up, or that it's possible to back everything up. This may sound odd, but I have lecture notes on Awesome Note and a ton of books on ebook reader, bn.com (both of which are programs that aren't much supported anymore).

its not fair that i bought my product knowing i can get access to mlb highlights and march madness only for apple to decide im not giving them enough business and make my itouch 2nd gen that i spent 260 dollars on "not capable" of having at bat and ncaa march madness on it! *** there is no reason at bat cant function on an itouch 2nd gen as it has in the past

That is likely beause the developer deceided to drop suport for the 2G iPod, not an Apple decision.

I have a 2nd gen itouch that wont go past apple logo. I did a reset and restore as suggested by some posts but still not working. Itunes can detect the ipod but I cannot do anything with it. Please help. many thanks.

I just bought the In-Ear version of the lanyard for the 1st Gen Nano that I had. I would like to use it on the 2nd Gen Nano that I just ordered. Is it going to work or do I need to replace it?

No, the 1st gen Nano lanyard will not fit the 2nd gen Nano (aluminum).
The spacing between the dock connecter and the phono plug are different.

ITouch 2nd Gen - Upgrading from OS 3.1.2 - OS 3.1.3

Is this possible -- when in Itunes all that I can upgrade to is OS 4.02? I do NOT want OS 4.02 on my 2nd Gen ITouch. I just want 3.1.3 (so I can use the new Netflix app along with a few other apps that require at least 3.1.3).
I called Apple and they told me it wasn't possible. I'm sure there is a way.

Hello! Thanks for the link, that was such a fast response. I downloaded the file: iPod2,13.1.3_7E18Restore.ipsw -- and I went through the instructions of hitting Shift-Update -- but received this error when finished: The Ipod "Christina's Itouch" could not be updated. An Unknown error occurred (3194). At first I thought it was because I had the older Itunes app.. I upgraded to 9.2.1. Still the same.
Any thoughts?

My iTouch, 2nd gen, crashed

My 2nd gen iTouch crashed while using an app. All apps disappeared except for 'Game Centre'. When I hooked it up to my iTunes, it shows 2.3G of 'other' content instead of 'app' content. So I can't just re-install the apps. They are still on the touch but lost there ID. Is there anyway of restoring them back or is the iTouch toast?

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" included corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Why cant i Sync rented films to my iTouch 2nd Gen?

Hey, i have an Orange contract, so i have got myself the Orange Free Thursday Film thing. downloaded the first to my iTouch fine, but not watched it yet, got yestardays via the PC, tired to move it to my iTouch to watch it at home on the 2nd Gen Apple TV, it keeps saying "The Ghost" was not copied to the iPod "Tigger" because it cannot be played on this iPod.
Any hints/tips or fixes for this, running latest iTunes and iTouch software. it has 2+ Gb of free space, but still wont let me move the film.

I want to buy a new stereo for my car, that works with my iPod touch 3rd generation. The only problem is there isn't any that are compatible, but they are to the 2nd generation touch.

If your iPod is a 2nd gen, it is a 2nd gen.
I recommend you try it on a device before purchasing (or make sure the store has a full money back guarantee).
