In Firefox Bookmarks Menu, no "ORGANIZE BOOKMARKS" populates

Greetings all,
On my Macbook, I have Firefox and all of my bookmarks are contained within. I am attempting to export my bookmarks from Firefox, and then import them into my Safari browser. I have read just about every Firefox tutorial, and am still hitting a dead end. If I follow the Firefox tutorial, I am led to believe that clicking within the Firefox bar at the top of my computer, on "Bookmarks" (which is just to the right of "History"), I will see a drop down menu, and then I will be able to scroll down to "Organize Bookmarks" When I click on "Bookmarks", indeed there is a drop down menu....but unlike the tutorial, where you can plainly see "Organize Bookmarks", this does not appear for me. I am so stumped, and so frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all, so much
Jeff

Wow, you did good! Thank you for the heads up. I was able to import my bookmarks into Safari within a minute. I'm pretty thrilled, but I have one final hurdle. Don't know if there is a fix or not. On Firefox, I had "Yahoo" as my home page, whenever Firefox would open...I was also able to have all of my bookmarks appear on the left side, within my Yahoo homepage, whenever I would open the Firefox browser. To do that, within Firefox, I simply went up to Bookmarks, and clicked where it said "show in sidebar". I can't seem to do this in Safari. I'm pleased that I now can visit my bookmarks when in Safari, but it would sure be great to have them immediately at the ready when opening Safari.
Thanks again for helping out,
Jeff

    Where is it?
How do I clean them up without this menu item?

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.

Only Favorites can be displayed as a submenu of the Start Menu. You can convert your Firefox bookmarks to IE favorites as follows:
    # [[Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file|Export your bookmarks to an HTML file]].
    # [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Import-or-export-favorites-in-Internet-Explorer Import the bookmarks in Internet Explorer].
    # In Firefox, install [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/plainoldfavorites/ the PlainOldFavorites extension]. This will allow you to create and manage favorites from Firefox.
    # Alternatively, if you use both browsers, you can keep bookmarks and favorites synchronized with an extension like [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/ Xmarks Sync].

Do you mean the Bookmarks Menu button on the Navigation Toolbar?
You only see that button if the menu bar is hidden.

  • Exported Safari Bookmarks (Safari bookmarks.html) arrive in MyDocuments but not in Firefox, how to get them into Firefox Bookmarks?

Five months ago, I imported my Firefox bookmarks into Safari. In that time, I have added many bookmarks to many of the bookmark folders in Safari. Now, I am trying to import back into Firefox all of the existing Safari bookmark folders including the added bookmarks. Tried exporting from Safari using File, Export Bookmarks, which does get them into MyDocuments\Safari bookmarks.html, but I am unable to get them into Firefox where they would enable me to uninstall Safari and free up some room on my hard drive. Maybe they are there in Firefox, but need to Find them?

Did you import the HTML file?
    * Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML : "From File"
Bookmarks that you import are usually appended at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder.<br />
If you do not see them there then try to use the search bar to see if they show up.<br />
If that also doesn't show them then it is likely that something went wrong with importing the bookmarks.<br />
Does that file display correctly if you open it via "File > Open File" in a Firefox tab?

  • I can't transfer all of my IE Favorites to Firefox Bookmarks.

During the Firefox installation, I chose the option to transfer IE Favorites into Firefox Bookmarks. But only the first 39 transferred, and the remaining 70 did not. Is there a limit on how many Bookmarks you can have on Firefox? I checked Firefox help articles but couldn't find anything that addresses this problem. Thank you for any help you can give me. :)

I'm not aware of a limit (and if there is, it's way higher than 39), but because Firefox is reading the shortcuts from the Windows Favorites folder on disk, sometimes it glitches, maybe for reasons related to the file name.
As a Plan B, you can use a two-step process of exporting a Firefox-compatible HTML file from IE and then importing that into Firefox. These articles have the steps for the respective browsers:
    * [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/add-view-organize-favorites#ie=ie-8 Add to, view, and organize favorites - Microsoft Windows Help] -- see the "Export and import" section
    * [[Import Bookmarks from a HTML file]]
You can use the Library dialog to move the imported bookmarks up to the main menu level. To open that dialog, you can use:
    * Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks
    * Ctrl+Shift+b
    Does it work?

  • Many following FireFox bookmark import

I've done this three times, all with the same result. Installed Safari 4; everything runs great until I import my FireFox bookmarks, after which I can't open new tabs, some sites won't launch at all, overall very slow to load during launch and new pages, lots of spinning beach balls.
Each time I delete everything Safari (app, preferences, etc.), reinstall, launch, runs perfectly, import FireFox bookmarks, disaster. Permission repair, etc., doesn't help.
    Ideas, anyone?

    Hi Jim
I suspect there may be corruption in the Firefox file.
Perhaps exporting from Firefox, then importing to Safari will give you a different result. First open Firefox. Go to the Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks option. When the Bookmarks Manager opens, click on the Star shaped icon and select "export html" and save to your desktop. By default the file is named bookmarks.html
Then, open Safari. File Menu>Import and navigate to the file you just saved and select it.
This creates a separate collection in Safari's Bookmarks manager. Let's see if this alters the behavior from what you have been seeing.

  • Firefox Bookmark Library's new bookmark function creates a pop-up that is wider than my monitor

The new bookmark function listed under the organize option of Bookmark Library for Firefox (versions 28 and 29) creates a pop-up that is wider than my monitor. I have to slide the pop-up to the left in order to get to the buttons on the right side.

    Hi bob46,
The Firefox bookmark function, the bookmark button opens a menu to view bookmarks. However this is version 29 not 28. Can you please show a screenshot of this? [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]]

  • Is there a way of putting firefox bookmarks folder on the dock

Is there a way of putting firefox bookmarks folder on the dock. not just one bookmark. i have done that. but i want all of them in stack or something.. similar to how windows did it in the start menu. its annoying that you have to open firefox first to access your links.
i got my first imac yesterday and loving it!!! albeit the text is a bit small but i have found the zoom!
    thanks in advance

Perhaps you don't know how to bring icons into the Firefox  Toolbar. You can put many things up there, including Bookmarks. You can also remove an icon or rearrange the order of icons.
    From View>Toolbars>Customize
Here is the Bookmarks icon (next to the History icon) from which you can open all your bookmarks directly. And if you can remember a keyword, it will find that one, or any others that come up with that keyword. It's really quite convenient to use and will stay updated with any new bookmarks that are added.
This is showing the Bookmarks open, which can be closed by clickng on the small x.

  • Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks

Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks. The name looks like e.g. "??????? ???? cn.nytimes.com"
Chinese character of the site name is displayed ok in the head of the browser window and there is no problem reading chinese web content. I use Firefox Portable 11 /English from portableapps.com in Windows XP.
I googled and got some tips:
    1) Set your browser to recognise Chinese language internet sites.
Windows users: Under "Tools - Options" on your browser's menu-bar add Chinese to the languages list.
    - I did this.
    2) Set your browser's "Character Set" or "Encoding" to UTF-8 (sometimes also called Universal Alphabet or Unicode).
Encoding settings can be changed under the "View" option in your browser's menu-bar.
    - It was already set to UTF-8.
    3) Windows users: If Chinese text still does not display correctly, East Asian language support may need to be enabled.
    - This has been done when I installed Windows.
I still don't get any Chinese fonts in the bookmark names. I can edit the bookmark name with chinese characters and then save the bookmark, it works fine. But why does not Firefox recognize the characters when saving bookmarks? Help is appreciated.

No I didn't change anything deep beneath the hood. My problem didn't apply to the URL, but to the name of the link or bookmark header or whatever you would like to call it. (When hitting Ctrl + D there is a Name field). I only got ???????? instead of chinese characters in the name. Also for e.g. www.cntv.cn ...but maybe all China is not in the whitelist either. ;-) But anyway, this was not the real problem for me.
Apparently I was wrong as after a reboot of the computer it worked. The solution seemed to be to add Chinese to the language list. I don't know why it was not enough to restart Firefox?
Now I only have problems to show chinese characters in the name field of my external link manager... But I guess it is not an issue for Mozilla.

  • How can I return my Bookmarks from esktop back to Firefox Bookmarks

For some reason ( unknown to me) the bookmarks in Firefox were sent to my Desktop and I can not return them back to the Bookmarks in Firefox. Would appreciate any assistance in accomplishing the return of my Bookmarks.

    Hello,
Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.
#Use <u>one</u> of these methods to open the Bookmarks Library window:
#*Click the ''[[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar|Firefox button]]'' to open the menu and click on ''Bookmarks''.
#*Click the ''Bookmarks'' menu and click on ''Show All Bookmarks''.
    # At the top of the Library window, click the "Import and Backup" menu and select Restore.
    # Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
    # In the new window that appears, click OK.
    # Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
For more information, see the [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]] article. For other solutions, see the [[Recover lost or missing Bookmarks]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

Export the bookmarks to an HTML file in the Bookmarks Manager and import that file in the new setup.
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Export HTML
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML : "From File"

  • How to Copy Firefox Bookmarks to Safari?

Will it work if I rename my Firefox bookmarks.html located in Firefox profiles to bookmarks.plist and replace them in my Safari library? If not how do I copy my Firefox bookmarks to Safari other than the first time I open Safari.

    Hi TB
renaming the file won't work - but if you enable the Debug menu... either by using a 3rd party app like Safari Enhancer; or as I did by pasting defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1 into a Terminal window after quitting Safari first, then you can choose 'import bookmarks' and point Safari to the html file from Firefox.
I actually have Tiger, so haven't seen this on Panther, but there have been plenty of threads where I've offered this suggestion, and it's worked out fine.

  • How !o I Import Firefox Bookmarks?

I recently switched back from Firefox. Safari is so much faster with tabbed browsing.
Anyhow, how do I import my bookmarks used in Firefox????
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi
To import your Firefox Bookmarks, simply go to the Safari File Menu>Import Bookmarks. Navigate as follows: Home Folder>Library>Applications Support>Firefox>Profiles>default.tra>bookmarks.html. Select that file.
In Safari, open the Bookmark Manager (command/option/B keys). On the left under the collections column you'll see a Firefox collection appearing at the bottom of the Collections list in your Bookmarks Manager. You can copy (command/C keys) various bookmarks, folders etc., then highlight the Bookmarks Bar collection and paste (command/V keys) the contents into the right side of the Manager.
