In home sharing, after selecting source, edit select all, import still unavailable

On my new Win 8 laptop. Installed iTunes 11. Home sharing is working. I can see the old laptop Music under Shared in sidebar. I select it and the music items appear in list. Both are using latest v11 of iTunes. I do edit>select all. Then on bottom, I change all items to items not in my library. Then I want to import but the import button is unavailable. It is greyed and has no outline. The same happened on WinXP.

If I stop and start sharing on my old computer, I would expect to see the library for that computer under home sharing. I don't. There is nothing. And that nothing propogates to the new computer!
The Music is still there in the old computer. I think the 'Import All' command you're referring to would run on the new computer, but only if there is something there for it to recognise.
So I'm still stuck, I'm afraid.
I guess uninstalling and re-installing iTunes might work, but I'm not keen!

Same here. iPhone, Mac Mini and Apple TV3 are all up to date. Logged in and out on each device and home sharing and airplay still don't work at all. Nothing shows up in the remote app. They're all on the same network and have been. The only thing I can think of is the most recent ATV firmware update, but why would my phone be unable to see my computer??

Home Sharing After iTunes Update to 11.1.5.5 - HELP!

I am unable to enable Home Sharing after updating to iTunes 11.1.5.5.
I've updated my Apple TV (3rd Gen) along with iTunes 11.1.5.5, restarted all my devices (iPad Air with iOS 7.0.6, iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.6, Apple TV 3rd Gen and Windows 7 64bit PC), restarted my cable modem and router, logged out of iTunes Home Sharing, then back in, restarted my PC AGAIN and verified that all my devices are on the exact same network. My firewall settings are completly unchanged since prior to updating to iTunes 11.1.5.5 and I've verified this. I've also even tried switching all devices to the other network band on my router and switched them all back to no avail.
This has become so cumbesome with Apple every time there is an update, I crindge every time I see one available. Someone at Apple needs to WORK THIS BUG OUT!!! Or, Chormecast will be my new friend!! I thought Android devices were buggy, but I'm having second thoughts as I've NEVER had this much trouble with such a simple networking concept. iTunes Home Sharing has seriously become a complete mess!!
Any advice here???? All I want to do is watch my movie!!!
My Setup:
iPad Air WiFi 32GB, iOS 7.0.6
iPhone 5 64GB iOS 7.0.6
Apple TV 3rd Generation (connected to wireless router via WiFi)
Windows 7 64bit PC (connected to wireless router via ethernet CAT5)

I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Netflix, Youtube and everything else works perfectly, but I'm unable to wirelessly stream anything from my Mac, iPad, or iPhone. All on same wireless channel, all new updates, all have home sharing turned on. Never had a problem the last 2 years.

HT3819 ITunes 11.1.5. Home Sharing is on, but there is no import button or the drop down to select "items not in my library".

We been using home sharing for a few years, but after upgrading to iTunes 11.1.5, the import button is no longer at the bottom of the screen and neither is the selction window to pick "items not in my library". Has this functionality been moved somewhere else?

I finally got this to work. I had to click "File...Home Sharing" and make sure the the same Apple ID is on the computer I want to drag music from and also on the computer I want to drag music to. It's that simple.

Unable to Turn on Home Sharing after iTunes upgrade

After the latest iTunes upgrade onYosemite, I get an 'Unable to Turn on Home Sharing' error on my 2 Apple TVs plus iPhone and iPad. Previously, I had no problem. I have restarted and reset my iTune on my MacBook plus all the devices now receiving an error message and the inability to utilize Home Sharing.
I can send videos to my Apple TVs from my MacBook through AirPlay, so this is not a network error.

Apple TV 2 Home Sharing depends on Source Device?

So I've been running into an issue with Home Sharing on my Apple TV 2. This is present on both the 4.2.2 and 4.3.2 firmware. (I own 2 Apple TV 2's. One vanilla and one running FireCore aTV Flash Black)
When attempting to play back video content from my Mac Mini (C2D, 2GB RAM, 2.0Ghz, Mid 2007) I was unable to load any HD content, and SD content was also pretty miserable. I recently discovered this when trying to play Dexter Season 5 HD from my Mac Mini to my Apple TV 2. Both devices on wi-fi initially.
I tried this both from wired and wireless configurations, I tried switching my Airport Extreme to 5Ghz only, (which my Mac Mini lacks "n"), and no combination of configurations seemed to resolve the issue.
Reluctantly, I decided to try importing the TV Shows to my Macbook Pro (13", 8GB RAM, 2.4Ghz, Mid-2010). What I found was that everything now worked seamlessly. I tried this wired, wireless, and even went so far as to hook my MBP up to the same network cable my Mac Mini was using to see if it had anything to do with the gigabit switch it was connected to. In every scenario Home Sharing to my Apple TV 2 from my Macbook Pro worked as designed.
So this got me thinking. Does the ability/quality to AirPlay/Home Share to the Apple TV 2 depend on the source device? My CPU nor my RAM on the Mac Mini were ever troubled or maxed out by attempting to stream content to my Apple TV 2. This leads me to believe the only component that could be causing the issue is the GPU. My Mac Mini only has the Intel GMA 950 GPU, my MBP has a NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB.
It makes sense to me that the Apple TV 2 isn't really decoding the video file. The hardware really isn't there to support decoding video streams. It seems likely to me that the heavy lifting is done by the source device and the transcoded video/audio is simply presented by the ATV2.
Does anyone actually understand the technical workings of AirPlay/Home Sharing? Perhaps an iOS developer?
If this is the case I'm going to have to start looking to upgrade my Mac Mini. It's about time anyway, but this would be the final tipping point in my upgrade debate.

Ok, I'm glad you've said that, now what documentation do you have to back that up? Where in the Apple documentation/support site can you point to backup your claim? Do you tested any configurations that would support your assumptions?
I'd assume that the Apple TV 2 does most of the work, but the evidence I have collected does not support that assumption.
You've just thrown your own response under the bus. If the video is compressed, and the ATV2 is doing the decompression, you wouldn't need to worry about bandwidth, now would you?
This is EXACTLY why I don't come to the communities/forums anymore. Every "know-it-all" thinks they have THE answer, but they are just as clueless as everyone else. The difference being they are chasing a status, and not the true answer to anyone's actual problem or question.
If you would like to continue to dig this hole feel free. I'll take the shovel when you are done.

No Home Sharing after latest ATV2 update?

I've been having incredibly annoying problems with Home Sharing for some time - ATV2 ethernet to wireless modem, iMac (latest version of Snow Leopard) connected to both via wireless. If I start both up from sleep, I generally have to quit iTunes on the iMac in order to start Home Sharing on the ATV2; and then every now and again I'll get kicked off in the middle of a playlist, and have to turn off and on Home Sharing and restart iTunes in order to re-establish connection. I spoke with Apple Tech Support before my 3-month period ran out; they recommended checking for some specific ports on the router, which I did, but in the end that made no difference at all.
Now after the latest update, the ATV2 won't connect to my iTunes library at all. It says "xxx's Library" on the main screen as thought it "recognizes" it, but no recently-played albums will appear on the top of the screen. However when I click on my Library, I just get a spinning wheel for 30 seconds and then it kicks me back out to the main screen.
I've logged out and in of my Apple account on both devices, restarted both, & etc. Nothing. What gives? This is incredibly annoying.

I too have the same problem. Cannot log into Home Sharing. Cannot log into iTunes. I have done the things suggested by others in another thread. Reset router, reset switch, rebooted computer with shared iTunes. Nothing works. I have three ATV2's and two have this issue. So far, the other does not. There is no rhyme or reason. I have also reset and restored the ATV to no avail.
I was able to stream to the ATV via airplay. Go figure...

I just upgrade my IPAD to 4.3 and ITunes to 10.2. But I can't use the Home Sharing Application. It shows "Home Sharing could not be activated because an error occurred (-3259)". Anyone knows about the detail on this error?

I am having issues with home sharing after installing iTunes 11.

I am using window vista ultimate 64. I've done everything I could think of including uninstalling all apple software and everything apple related. Installed iTunes 10 and it still will not work. I've checked firewall settings. Rebooted everything. I'm at odds. What next.
Before the install. All my apple products would connect without any issues.
Anyone have any ideas.

Home sharing iMac and MacBook Pro: not all songs are playable

I set up Home Sharing between my iMac and MacBook Pro so that I could stream the music that's on the iMac to the MacBook Pro. On the MBP there are no songs, all of them are in Apple Lossless format on my iMac. I first tried to use "‘share my library on my local network" but because I wanted the play count to go up as well I chose for "Home Sharing". Setting up was simple. After all preferences were adjusted, I opened iTunes on the MBP and it immediately found the shared iMac library. There's now only one problem: not all songs are playable. Some don't even start. How is this possible and what do I need to do to resolve this?
FYI: the iMac is connected via ethernet to my cable modem which sends a wireless Wi-Fi signal to the MBP. Signal quality is excellent.
Also, is it possible that playcount is only available with Home Sharing and not with "share my library on my local network"?

It very well could be the antivirus app, most are intrusive and debilitate rather than enhance performance and should be removed using the developers instructions. You haven't really told us anything useful such as any settting you may have changed. However if you began working backwards resetting any changes and uninstalling the apps added since the performance issue started then you probably will find your issue.

Selecting top layer (after selecting all layers)

In CC, why can I no longer use Select/Modify/Contract after Selecting all?

I've been using CS3 and am now on CC.
I tried using the Border option then Inverse, but this is a poor substitute.

This issue is solved with today's (10/6/14) release of Photoshop CC 2014 contains a "Apply Effect at Canvas Bounds" option for the follow features:
Select > Modify > Smooth...
Select > Modify > Expand...
Select > Modify > Contract...
Select > Modify > Feather...
Users now have the option to have these commands apply to an entire selection or just the portion of the selection that is not touching the canvas bounds with the "Apply effect at canvas bounds" checkbox.
The checkbox option is remembered for each, individual selection modification option. The checkbox default is "off" on first launch and with preferences deleted.
With the "Apply effect at canvas bounds" checkbox ON, the behavior is equivalent to Photoshop CS3 behavior.
