No, but you can use any picture editing tool to crop out the bars. (Many are free in the App Store.) Me personally, I use PhotoPad, which I use to crop as well as rotate the screen shot. Takes less than a minute to do both with PhotoPad.

Yahoo toolbar appeared without my consent. Can't get rid of it. Does not appear in list of add-ons or in list of programs installed for uninstall. (Win7; FFx5) Please help me delete this annoyance.)

I was prompted to update Java. I got a YAHOO toolbar which I did and do not want. I can't get rid of it. It does not appear on the Add-on list, not in the programs list (to uninstall). Can't find anything with Yahoo in the name. I do not want to use View, because it keeps coming back into view without my consent -- I want it gone permanently.
The uninstall directions in Yahoo help call for click on pencil tool (which tool is not found on this toolbar). Firefox instructions say go to Add-on list, but the Yahoo bar is not there. There are several Java add-ons, but I don't know what they are and what happens if they are uninstalled.

Perhaps it is disguised as something else. If so please tell me what to uninstall.

Try RIGHT clicking on different areas of the toolbars on Firefox, mainly try right clicking on/around the url bar & forward/back navigation buttons. When you get the correct spot if will give you a menu with the toolbars available (whether or not they're active) and a couple other options. Just uncheck the Yahoo one & you should be all set.
As you say though it may be some other bar disguised as a yahoo bar. Any chance you can get a screen shot of it & post it here?

Can you get rid of...

...the visual volume level guide that pops up when changing the volume? I see that I can get rid of the sound. Seems odd really having a visual cue to tell you how loud something is. Suppose it is good for hearing imparied people changing the sound for those who can hear...but anyways, it is annoying when showing clients a slide show and up pops the graphic over the images if I need to change the volume for whatever reason during the show.
Is there a utility that gives control over this sort of thing?

If you want a model without operating branding then you will need to pay more to get a sim free model or buy it on contract from a retailer that sells generic models. If you are in the UK stores such as the carphone warehouse tend to sell generic unlocked/unbranded models instead of the operator branded versions.

How can you get rid of icons in menu bar?

I recently took my MacBook to the local store to have it cleared and restored back to factory settings. I have the OS X Mountain Lion program installed. I set up two accounts (Admin account and second one to use). When I turned my computer off and back on again, I've noticed a Guest account. When I went into my System Preferences to get rid of it, I've noticed that it's greyed out (so I can't delete it). Another issue I'm having is a symbol I'm seeing up top in my menu bar (<--->. Does anyone know what this means and how I can go about getting rid of it?

In the area where it allows you to add or delete the delete symbol is greyed (shaded) out where I don't have that option to delete the "guest" account. And the ethernet symbol I'm seeing in the right hand corner of my screen is still there after deleting it in the System Preference/Network section.

I found this question some months ago, but no one had a method to resolve it.
I wanted to remove the solid stripe across the bottom of my ipad 4 homescreen. I think it's been called an app park, a shelf, and an applications easy access. Whatever it is, I really hate it. I like a solid black screen. There was a transparency to the old ios---I have on my iphone because I didn't update it to 7 when I found out it did this. This one is solid and grey! Really ugly. Is there any way to get rid of it, make it transparent, or at least minimize it?

Hi again. Well, it isn't death-defying or anything. And it isn't only because I CAN'T customize it and that burns me. It wastes my desktop space because I don't use it. When you are visually impaired---real estate on the desktop is pretty important. I usually have a black screen to see the icons better, but if I have a picture---the bottom is chopped off with this ugly gray stripe. The old 6.0.3 had the shelf, but it was transparent. It didn't bother me. This one does. That simple. I thought I saw instructions to at least change the color or something somewhere, but that was when it was new, and I can't find that again anywhere online. I guess everyone else got on board (moo), and I'm the only one left that still hates it.
I know these things are supposed to be updates, but I think Apple missed the boat on this one and screwed up a good thing. Maybe they fixed it in 7.4? (wishful) Anyway, I'm not even offered that IOS. Mine is still asking me to update to 7.1. I guess you have to update in order? I'm working in 7.0.4; that's the IOS that came with the unit in December.

Babylon window displays every time i start my computer it says strings.dat is missing or corrupted how can you get rid of this?

When i start my computer a window appears from Babylon and the message in the window is strings.dat is missing or corrupted.
it has a button to push that says ok but when clicked on with curser nothing happens i uninstalled all babylon down loads and this was left behind would just like to get this out of my computer.

basics for ridding of the actual babylon searchbar is like this...
loading firefox, noticed that my google search bar wasnt google anymore and had ababylon icon instead!
ASLO the browser displayed a FAKE GOOGLE search page!
so i opened firefox, typed "about:config" in url bar and then you look just underneath the url bar, and you'll see another search bar.
type babylon into it. right click on all of the results, and click reset.
thats it now disabled totally for now.
next go to tools>addons and look down the list and click uninstall babylon...
bingo.
but its not over yet! .....
next go to start> search and type "babylon" (without the quotes) and see what comes up, mainly in programme files\mozzilla\search plugins
and in the macromedia folder. if you get a "cannot delete.." notice, then that just means you havnt closed firefox (wich is odd coz you've apparently uninstalled the bug*er), so close firefox, then delete. you should now get rid of them all.
it DOSNT show up on add/remove programmes, and it didnt show up on uninstall in advanced system care, though you may try the other uninstall button to the right , but you'll need to type in the "pathways" ( eg C:\my computer\programme files/etc).
i'm still not convinced that this is the end of it though.
from other forums i have noticed folk contacting AND phoning babylon and basaically being either abused or told they wont help.
it seems to be invisible to AVG (i have the premium one too!) though around the time i installed the xvid codecs i did get an avg notice warning of an infection found in my t-mobile modem (dongle) but it seemed to actually be the tmobile liveupdat.exe, so i left it as i am sure i would get even worse problems if a effed around with it. (ie no connection, (eventually)

How can you get rid of Genius function without losing iTunes 8.0?

I recently updated iTunes to Version 8.0 with the Genius function, but I have the feeling that this program is taking up space on my hard drive that I don't want to lose. I understand that you can turn off Genius in the Store menu, but it's still on my computer.
So, how do I eliminate the Genius function altogether from the version of iTunes on my computer? Is it possible? Or will I have to just go back to an older version that doesn't have Genius at all. I want to free up the space on my hard drive that the Genius program is using.
In a previous thread <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1703834&tstart=15>, a user seemed to ask this question, but it never really was answered.
Any help from other users would be greatly appreciated.

AS it says in the thread you referred to you can turn off the genius function so it is not active.
You do this on the Store menu.
You can delete iTunes Library Genius.itdb in the iTunes folder. Normally if genius is switched on, it gets recreated, but I guess it may not if Genius is turned off, or at least it would remain small.
You can't remove genius from iTunes, it is part of the program.

Can you get rid of the alternative letters when typing a text message? Ie all the accented versions etc?

I've just upgraded from and iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 5 and I'm finding it really slow to text because you have to wait for it to bring up all the options.
Before it'll put the letter there.

Good to hear the problem is cleared up, but curious about the US keyboards since my iPhone has three plus the British.
Another trick when the iPhone gets slow or acts up, do a reboot, also called a soft reset, by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts. If the red slider appears just ignore it and the iPhone will eventually do the logo-restart. That clears a great many minor problems in the operating system.

How, on the ipod touch 5th gen, can you get rid of songs in the songlist? I restored from a stolen ipod touch 4th gen, and now there is a bunch of crap that is not even mine on this thing. The songs only show up in the songs listing.

I had my last ipod stolen, when I got the 5th Gen I restored from my old ipod from itunes and now there is a bunch of crap on there that I don't want, but the songs only show up on the ipod so I can not delete them off of the ipod from itunes. Do they play on the iPod?
If not then they are corrupted.
Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.

gmail as imap
aol as imap
yahoo as imap
all setup on the phone as just setting the phone to sync
from outlook or osx mail program or the likes don't really work as mails should
about the ultimatum to apple about fixing your mail problems then you will likely have more luck in the feedback channel then here were we're just users like you

HT1343 IN CONTACTS, HOW DO YOU GET RID OF THE TRASH UNDER NOTES?

In the CONTACTS (Address book) there seems to be lots of trash under "NOTES" I have to continually delete all of that stuff that I do NOT put in/enter....Any suggestions? Anyone?

What OS are you using? That might affect the answer.
