for some reason some of the folders in my photos media pane are now empty? how do I get rid of those folders?

iDVD is a tool for creating videoDVDs from some media (stills, video, music)
it is NOT the Finder, which is the Mac's "app" to handle files&folders
and it is NOT the "creator" of stills (iPhoto), videos (iMovie) or music (iTunes)

Edit the list the comes up when you go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients".

I just bought a mac pro and final cut pro x to go with it (after a couple of years of being used to using adobe on a pc) so apologies if this sounds like a stupid question, but how do I completely delete/remove a clip from the timeline instead of merely 'disabling' it?

If you have a keyboard without the numerical keypad, then FN delete will delete the clip and replace it with a gap if it's on the primary storyline. If it's a normal Mac keyboard, then the back delete will do the trick.
You can also lift a clip from the primary storyline by right-clicking and choosing lift from primary storyline, then just delete.

Make a sender a VIP
To keep track of messages you receive from especially important people, make them VIPs in Mail. You can have up to 100 VIPs.
To make someone a VIP, move the pointer to the left of the sender’s name in the message header and click the star that appears. You can also move the pointer over the sender’s email address, click the arrow that appears, and choose “Add to VIPs” from the pop-up menu.A mailbox for the VIP is added to the Favorites bar. For example, if you make Dad a VIP sender, his messages are displayed in a VIP mailbox titled Dad.
To remove VIP status from a sender, click the VIP’s star in a message. The star is removed and the sender’s VIP mailbox is removed from the Favorites bar.
If a VIP has several email addresses in Contacts, messages from any of those addresses will appear in the VIP’s mailbox.
If you use iCloud Contacts, your VIPs are available on your other Mac computers that use iCloud Contacts and have OS X Mountain Lion installed.
So to remove a VIP mailbox, you would have to remove all its people, and then exit mail.

Put a Photo in the iPhoto Trash.
iPhoto Menu -> Empty Trash
This removes the photo from iPhoto and the Hard Disk (in every version of iPhoto except iPhoto11)
In iPhoto 11 the file goes to the System Trash, you need to empty that too.

Hello Prasad,
Use callbacks for populating Ribbon controls such as menu, dropDown, gallery and etc. Then you can use the
Invalidate or
InvalidateControl methods of the
IRibbonUI interface to get your callbacks invoked when required. Thus, you will be able to delete the required item(s).

I just purchased an iphone 5. I would like to know how you delete only certain pictures from the photo library. You can delete from camera roll, but not photo library!! There are duplicate pics and ones that I don't even want on my phone.

Your photo library is a complete list of all photos on your phone, including the camera roll and any albums you've created.
Therefore it will always duplicate photos in your camera roll.
The images are simply links, not additional copies of the photo

Why not? Make a folder in your media partition and put an alias folder (shortcut) on the desktop of each partition/ OS. You can right click on the folder in the media partition and click on "make alias".
If you want to direct your iTunes media to point to the media partition, google "move iTunes library to external disk" and follow the steps; the instructions should be the same for a seperate partition as it is for an external drive.

How do I restore individual files/folders from Time Machine to a PC?

My Mac of six years have crashed and been sent to the apple hospital for surgery, but I had time machine backing up all my files. Yah! Now with the help of 'macdrive' I can see the files on my windows computer, but when I tried to restore any individual files or folders to the pc, nothing.
I would click on the files from my external drive and a box comes up for 'where do you want to copy selected files?'. Right-clicking only provide the 'copy', 'copy to', and 'create a shortup' options. Whichever options I try, no copies/restored files is created.

You need to be more specific what types of files are you trying to restore. It sounds like you just need to learn how to use TM which is pretty darn easy. Here is one good article and you can always use Apple's find out how video on TM.

My first post online in an Apple forum. God I wish I switched from my HTC pile of %$*&! to an iPhone earlier, what a great phone.
I have gone online and read the manual as to trying to find the answer but I can't. So maybe fellow users can assist me?
In the recent calls tab on Ver 3.1 How do I delete individual calls without deleting the entire history of all the other calls?
Say I have ten phone calls on my screen in the recent tab. I want to delete the one from Bob Claus and leave the rest of the history of all other callers there?
