In IPhoto '08, viewing single vs. multiple photos

In IPhoto '08, in Library/Photos, I'm no longer able to view a screen of thumbnails.   I'm only able to view a single photo at one time.  This was not true in the past.

Note the slider lower right of the iPhoto Window. Drag it left.

  • Iphoto 08 adding keywords to multiple photos

I am trying to add the same key word to to multiple photos. In the past version, I would just click, select, click to select multiple photos. Then right click and it would bring up the picklist of keywords and I would simply select the keywords to put on that whole group of photos. I have tried to do this in iPhoto 08 but the keywords are no longer in the photo info window.
I can't even find a way to view the picklist. I only see the keywords which show up in each sinlgle picture when I click add keyword to a single picture then put in a few letters.
There has to be a better way, but I'm stumped.

    MattTorg
Menu Bar -> Window -> Show Keywords
Select the pics and click on the keyword.
If you want to apply sets of keywords, you can drag them to the top of the keyword pane, and apply multiple keyword to Pic(s).
If you have a lot of Keywords, check out Keyword Manager

  • How can I print multiple photos on the same page from iPhoto?

I want to print multiple pictures on one paper. How can I do that from iPhoto? If I select multiple photos they are printed on separate pages.

Select the photos and click print - select the printer, paper size and print size (be sure that they will physically fit on the paper) and click customize - on the resulting page click on the settings icon - the gear looking thingy at the bottom - and in the selection window set print multiple photos on a page - the preview should reflect this change - and click print again to continue

  • View (compare) multiple photos in Photos

How do you view multiple photos at the same time in Photos (the new app)? In iPhoto, you could select the photos you wanted to compare and then click the Edit button to open them side by side with each other. I can't figure out what Photos wants me to do because, when you select more than one photo, you can't see the Edit button.

I don't think you can, for a single photo you can compare before/after edit:

    Try this general troubleshooting procedure:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

  • Multiple photo issues on Macbook that seem to revolve around iPhoto

Hi I'm having numerous problems when dealing with photo on my laptop and was wondering if anyone might know why.
Here's some info about my software, Max OS X version 10.5.8, Safari 5.0.1, iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5., and my Java software is up to date. I also just ran a software update before posting this and everything is up to date except the MacBook EFI Firmware Update, I haven't been able to complete that update, it fails every time.
So A while back I had a problem with my Macbook where it would not start up, so I took it to a Genius Bar and they archived my files and reinstalled my software and that fixed the problem. When I got back into my Mac I noticed all the software was in the original version so I had to updated everything which I did. However I started having problems when I did stuff with photos.
    1. The first problem was uploading pictures to facebook. It was working (not perfectly because it could only handle me uploading 20 pictures or so at a time but still working) then it stopped. I deleted the facebook plugin in on my computer (like facebook told me finder>library>internet plugins>facebook plugin) so I could try to install it again hoping that would fix it, but I haven't been able to install it again because facebook never prompts me to install it again, and facebook still lets me go in and select photos to upload but it can't upload them. If I'm trying to upload photos either through the internet or exporting them to fb through iPhoto, it will let me select the photos but as soon as I click upload (or export) the internet or iPhoto will freeze then quit and I will get a notice telling me it failed because something went wrong with the plugin (screencap: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture22.png). I still no longer have the facebook plugin or the facebook iPhoto exporter app installed on my computer. However now when I try to upload photos to facebook it still doesn't work but the Safari doesn't quit and I get a different message (screencap: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture133.png)
It has been about a month now that I cannot add photos to albums on facebook. However the odd time I have been able to post a photo on my wall, in a message and upload a new profile picture. I can also upload photos to other places on the internet like photobucket, with the exception of twitter. With twitter I cannot upload a new profile picture, it tries and then gives me a page saying twitter is over capacity but apparently that has been happening to a lot of people so I'm not sure if it's related to my computer problems.
    2. I cannot import photos from the internet to iPhoto. How I usually do it is ctrl + click and then selecting import to iPhoto and then iPhoto will open but I will get two notices telling me what went wrong.
    Screencap of Safari notice: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture136-2.png
    Screencap of iPhoto notice: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture137.png
However I can still save photos from the internet onto my Macbook through a different way like adding them to "my downloads".
    3. iPhoto cannot export photos to another folder in places like documents and pictures. This is a screencap of when it fails: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture135-1.png - it doesn't go any further than this point so I always click cancel. However if I try to export the same photo to the same place it will tell me that the image is already there and asks me if I want to replace it.
    4. I have a FujiFilm FinePix Z20fd camera with FinePixViewer software on my Macbook where I upload the pictures from my camera to. However since my computer was fixed at the genius bar I haven't been able to import any photos from my camera into the FinePixViewer, the program won't even open when I connect my camera to my laptop. In fact none of my photos that I used to have in FinePixViewer are displayed in there anymore, this is what my FinePixViewer now looks like: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture138.png
However the photos and videos are still in their folders in my documents, so I can still access them and haven't lost them. And I can import the photos from my camera into iPhoto.
(I was thinking of uninstalling the FinePixViewer software and then reinstalling it to see if that would help. That wouldn't affect the photos that are still in my documents that I originally imported through FinePixViewer would it?)
    5. And the lasted problem I have discovered is that iMovie cannot generate thumbnails of iPhoto videos.
Does anyone know what could be causing these problem or how I can try to solve any of them? Should I take my Macbook back to the genius bar? Thanks!

    3. iPhoto cannot export photos to another folder in places like documents and pictures.
I think this is a bug in the design of the export feature. The problem might be that iPhoto initially sweeps up all your photos from various folders, and often they have similar names like 01.jpg or Mom.jpg, etc. then when it exports, all files are copied into a single folder, and it doesn't have the ability to rename files such as Mom-2.jpg. When I encountered this problem I would get about 90% of the photos exported and then a similar message.
There is then no way to tell what photos were not exported. You could do a sequential export but all the file names might be replaced with sequential numbering.
A possible workaround is to Ctrl click or right click the iPhoto library icon and select the third option: Show Package Contents. If you drag the Originals and Modified folders out of the package to another location, or to an external drive, it should move or copy all your pictures with their individual filenames but in inconvenient multiple dated folders.
It might be a good idea to backup the iPhoto library first as this might disable the iPhoto database, and in case you don't like the results. Also you should first move the old iPhoto library icon to its final storage place if you don't want to trash it, such as into a folder named old iPhoto library, becasue it won't move after pulling its files. If you want to keep using iPhoto as it is, you should just copy the above two folders and replace the originals where you found them.

  • Viewing Multiple Photos

How do I view multiple photos, side by side, so I can make a comparison and decide which ones I want to delete?  I used to be able to select them all with the shift or command keys and then bring them into the Edit screen.  Now only the first one comes up.   I am running a MacBook Pro (early 2011) OSX 10.8.2 with iPhoto 9.4.1.

Select the two you want to compare and use the Edit button.  You can then go to full screen to get a larger image of both.  Also move the slider at the bottom all the way to the right.

  • IPhoto 7.1.3 and printing multiple photos per page

I cannot get multiple prints to layout (or print) properly. IOW, I cannot get the product to render multiple photos to a single sheet layout.
    - selected multiple photos (say 5)
    - Hit Print icon (or select Print from File menu)
    - Paper Size: choose 8.5x11
    - Print Size: choose 3x5
    - Hit 'Customize' button
    - It is showing 1 photo per page (5 pages)
    - Select 'Settings'
    - Select 'Multiple photos per page'
    - Hit 'OK'
    - No change - still a single photo per page
    - Print preview shows same - 5 pages each with only a single print.
    - Same occurs if I originally select 2,3,4.... prints.
Perhaps noteworthy: I am using a printer (only available printer) that is attached to another iMac on my wireless network.
Any help appreciated. About 30 minutes searching this discussion board hasn't been fruitful.

    Michael
Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
    - selected multiple photos (say 5)
    - Hit Print icon (or select Print from File menu)
    - Paper Size: choose 8.5x11
    - Print Size: choose 3x5
When I do these steps my preview shows 4 photo on the page (the maximum number of 3 x 5 you can fit on an 9.5 x 11 sheet) without going to the customize menu - and it works on three different printers
Try deleting your iPhoto preferences (finder ==> "your username" ==>preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist), launch iPhoto, reset any preferences you have set and see if it will work
It should be very easy and straight forward with only the first four steps being needed for this

  • IPhoto '08 - tag multiple photos while writing

    Hi,
I'd like to know whether it's possible to:
Select several photos (yellow frame) and write the keyword for these photos rather than selecting the keyword from keyword assistant. I do not want to use the keyword shortcuts either.
The former iPhoto '06 plugin for keywords was able to provide this function.
    Thanks
    n00b

    This is from iPhoto Help:
*Assigning keywords or checkmarks to a photo*
Keywords are labels you can add to your photos so you can easily find all the photos in a specific category.
You can also give photos a checkmark. This makes it easy to mark all the photos that you want to add keywords to later, or that you want to consider for a specific project, such as a book.
    To assign keywords or checkmarks:
Select the photo or photos you want to add a keyword or checkmark to.
    Choose Window > Show Keywords.
To stop viewing the keywords, choose View > Keywords again.
You can select multiple photos and follow the above procedure. You can create your own keyword by clicking on "edit keyword" and then on the plus sign.

  • IPhoto 11 how can I view original and edited photo

I am new to imac and have been editing photos with iphoto 11. After editing a photo I can see the edited photo, but how can I view the original?
Also does iphoto keep all edited versions of a photo?
    Thanks

If you want to see the original image then hold the shift key when in edit mode.
Also does iphoto keep all edited versions of a photo?
Not exactly sure what you mean by that... with iPhoto 11, when you edit a pic nothing on the original pic is changed, and all your editing decisions are recorded in the database. Next time you view the image these decisions are applied to the image as you view it. So, iPhoto records the edit history. Subsequent edits work on the aggregrate history, or you can revert to the original and start over.
If you want to have multiple versions (say, one in in  B&W, one in Sepia) then you need to duplicate the image.
Note that the versions are all virtual, based on the Master. Deleting the master will also delete the versions.

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • How can I drag multiple photos into a new iPhoto library from search box?

I lost but found my list of photos that were in my iPhoto library. I am unable to drag more than one photo at a time from the search box into the new iPhoto library box. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to drag one at a time? (That would take hours.) Please help if you can!
    Thanks,
    Laure

    Roam,
Thanks again. I know how to highlight and drag multiple photos or a list of files, but the only place I found my list was by going to Finder>File>Find then a dialogue box comes up. In the dialogue box I put in iPhoto and checked that then put in "kind" "is" "image" and "size" "is greater than" "30" KB. When I click search, the entire list from my library comes up but that is when I am unable to drag more than one file at a time. The box that comes up when I search isn't (at least I don't think it is) a "folder" as such. Any suggesttions?

  • How to delete multiple photos from updated iPhoto

How to delete multiple photos from the updated iPhoto

1 - there is no updated iPhoto - iPhoto is still on your computer and version 9.6.1 is probably the last version - there are no updates planned to iPhoto
2 - Photos is a new photo management program built into OS X 10.10.3
3 - Assuming you are talking about Photos  select the photos and press delete - they then go to the recently deleted photos album (show recently deleted under th file menu) where they sit for 30 days and then are automatically deleted unless you manually delete them first
