In Itunes 11 Podcast Settings?

I can't find the settings for all podcasts. I want to stop my podcasts from automatically downloading. Any help anyone?

To stop a Podcast from automatically downloading;
either unsubscribe from that Podcast. This is done in the main body of the Podcasts Library/List. Highlight the Podcast series and the Unsubscribe"lights up". Use that.
compared with:
Or, after highlighting the Podcast series, select Settings button and change the options for that one Podcast series:
To do this for all Podcasts, in the shot above, change "Click" to "Podcast defaults".

  • Why do my itunes podcast settings keep resetting?

i originally set my itunes to download new podcasts every night at 12:15 am, so i could get news podcasts from the previous day if i missed it, but my download time seems to randomly reset itself to different times of day. sometimes early morning, sometimes mid-afternoon, sometimes in the early evening.
when i readjust the download time, it randomly resets itself again.
i know it can reset itself if there's a power outage, but why does it keep resetting itself randomly?

So after the subscriptions disappeared yesterday, I resubscribed to Democracy Now! and Bill Moyers Journal.
This morning, I went to check iTunes... and two of the subscriptions were gone -- AGAIN! And the episode of Democracy Now! that remained behind was now listed under real Tim with Bill Maher.
I'm getting so frustrated with this... why am I having to re-subscribe to podcasts every day now?

  • ITunes Podcasts Stopped Updating With Upgrade

    Hi,
I posted this once before but I've just read on some other posts that .dll files are the problem with some other issues. Is it possible I have a corrupted .dll file that is not letting podcasts update? I've tried uninstalling, re-installing and even downgrading to no avail. I'm running XP. Thanks in advance...

    Hey leeltd!
Try using the information in the following article to make sure that your iTunes is set to automatically look for new episodes:

  • Podcast settings for individual podcasts

Is there any way to specify podcast settings on a per podcast basis instead of having itunes apply the settings globally? For example, I want one of my podcasts to automatically download the most recent episode, but others I want to download the episodes manually. For world news now, I only want to keep the most recent episode, but some others I want to keep 3 or 4... etc. Is there any way to set this up?

I've been trying to figure how to do this as well .... so far the best 'solution' seems to be by using this Applescript:
    http://www.acetylene.net/podcastmanagement_foritunes/
..which allows the user, through ranking your podcasts, to either retain or "expire" particular podcasts.

  • Podcast settings gone in 11.1

    Folks,
Any one know where the Settings went? I used it to restrict the number of Podcasts to 5 or 10. Also how do I remove podcats? When I delete, they do not get deleted but flagged as read.
    Thanks

Correction: there is still a per-podcast Settings button but it's not in the List view any more. If you select the My Podcasts view, click the podcast you want to edit and select the Settings cog at the top-right, you'll find individual settings that will override the defaults. You can also manually delete podcasts from this view, but alas not from the List view where all old epsiodes continue to show up with little cloud icons.
Another classic iTunes UI choice, three times more complicated and twice as ugly as the previous way.
I just don't understand Apple. Their hardware is generally beautiful, iOS almost as much so. But iTunes? It's as though each iteration they outsource it to a new bunch of enthusastic but unfocussed interns. Awful software.

  • Please help - iTunes podcast curation

    Hi Everyone,
Anyone know how to contact the editorial team at the podcast directory? My podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/popup-chinese-chinese-lessons/id292036117
We teach mandarin from Beijing and are literally the highest-ranked Chinese teaching podcast in the directory (5 stars on 38 reviews of over 900 totally free lessons and podcasts). We've been producing our lessons for 2.5 years now and are routinely ranked the best place to learn Chinese online by foreigners in China. But we still can't be found in the iTunes podcast directory when people look for free Chinese learning materials:
Podcast Directory --> Language Learning (Quick Links) --> Chinese
The problem is that this page seems to be manually curated and isn't being updated. Of the eight podcasts listed, half stopped ages ago or have 15 or fewer lessons. The remainder are pay-to-play or Chinese-only recordings of minimal use (like recordings of someone reading a news article). It is surreal in the sense that our own users are complaining to us about the fact they can't find us here -- but we don't have any control over it!
I don't want this to sound like a rant, because I don't expect the iTunes staff to be familiar enough with Chinese to know what is good and what isn't. But I'm hoping someone has advice on how to get this problem solved. I would love to send the iTunes team some t-shirts and copies of reviews of our stuff. Or maybe just send a short and polite email asking for consideration. But there seems to be no way to do this. Apple support keeps throwing us in loops and no-one knows the right people to contact.
    Can anyone help us?
    Sincerely,
    David Lancashire

  • Installing new windows without losing my podcasts settings???

    Hi,
since i've got problems with my windows, i am really keen on formatting and reinstalling xp. i've already made a backup of all my podcast-files (my itunes library is on drive d:, so formating drive c: won't affect my files anyway),
however, i don't want to lose my podcast settings and descriptions within itunes. is there any solution for this problem
thanks in advance for your help

Podcast descriptions are part of the episode files. Episodes use the artist, album, and track track tags for this.
When opening iTunes on new installation hold down the shift key during startup of iTunes. It will open dialog to select library. Navigate to file and select it.
    Some of this may help

  • Thank You iTunes' Podcast Team

This probably isn't the right place for it, but my podcast partner, Madeline, and I both wanted to thank the staff of the iTunes' Podcast directory for featuring our humble show in such a prominent location on the front page of the directory.
The exposure has helped propel us into rankings territory that puts us among many of our own favorite podcasts, as well as showcasing us side-by-side with the works of numerous esteemed individuals and companies that produce podcasts professionally. The exposure has served to motivate us as we continue to try and build a non-traditional audience (a podcast for teen girls) and to continue to put our best foot forward!
Again, a sincere "thank you," from the folks behind the

I think you already need to have some SJSWS server definitions.. I just followed the exact steps you listed (install nb 6.8, install sjsws plugin, select Tools / Servers) and no window appears.. the key factor here: I told it to import my nb 6.7 settings which includes some sjsws server definitions. I had this same problem when sjsws plugin was first available for nb 6.5. I looked back at that thread ( http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5349413 ) and saw mention of particular java versions.. so I should mention I used Java 6u13 with nb 6.7, but when I installed nb 6.8 I switched to 6u17. • ITunes 7 Bug: iPod sets iTunes' synchronization settings!

I certainly hope this is a bug and not a feature. I have a home computer and a work computer that I use my iPod and iTunes with. I want my podcasts to automatically be copied to my iPod at home, but not at work. So at home I have the "Sync Podcasts" feature turned on, and at work I have it turned off. But the iPod changes iTunes' synchronization settings based on the synchronization settings of the copy of iTunes it was last connected to! So assuming I leave home with an iPod full of podcasts, as soon as I plug my iPod into my work computer and run iTunes, ALL MY PODCASTS ARE DELETED because the iPod turns the "Sync Podcasts" feature on, and there are no podcasts on that computer to sync. And there's no way to prevent that from happening beforehand, because the "Sync Podcasts" feature doesn't even exist until you plug the iPod in and let it do its thing. So now I'm really ticked off, and I turn "Sync Podcasts" off. When I get home and plug the iPod in and run iTunes, my Podcasts don't automatically sync anymore because the iPod has turned the "Sync Podcasts" feature off. So right now, I'm using a workaround in which I leave the "Sync Podcasts" feature off on both computers, and only turn it on temporarily when I want to sync the iPod.

An update to iTunes fixed this a while ago.

  • Is it possible to change the URL of an iTunes Podcast page itself (NOT the Feed URL)?

My company has an usual question:
While keeping all the individual podcasts the same, and the subject matter of the whole podcast series the same, my company would like to change the URL that Apple iTunes has assigned us.  Is this possible, and how can it be done?
Again, I am talking about the URL that Apple iTunes has assigned us.  The one that begins:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/career-...
We are having a small change in marketing emphasis.  So my company wants to change one of the dashed English words in the URL, after:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/
These English words were based on the original title of our podcast.  The original title of our podcast has changed slightly, with no problem.  Now my company just wants to change the URL assigned to us by Apple.
Let me emphasize: There is no purpose of misdirection, evasion, or deceit here -- not in the slightest.  My company is simply taking a different marketing angle.  Our category is staying the same.  The podcasts themselves are staying the same.  My company would just like to update the URL assigned to us by Apple to reflect our new podcast series name.
    ALSO:
We are a category-leading, very popular podcast.  If we do change our iTunes podcast URL, we do not at all want to jeopardize our leading status in our podcast subject category.  We want all our download stats to move with us over to the new URL.  This is extremely important to us.
    AND FURTHER:
If we do change our iTunes podcast URL, we want all our listeners to automatically find us at the new URL.  We don't want any of them to lose their subscription because we changed our URL.
    So in summary:
    1. CAN we change our podcast URL (the one assigned to us by iTunes)?
    2. Can we change the URL, but still keep our category-leading position and stats, exaclty as they are now?  That is, will our old download stats move with us to the new URL, so we can retain our category-leading position?
    3. Will podcast listeners going to the old URL automatically be forwarded to the new URL?  Might any of our current listeners become unsubscribed as a result of the URL change?
I know this is an unusual, complicated, and multi-part question.  I am looking for definitive, authoritative answers to all these questions.
Thank you very much for your help!!
    David

You can omit the title altogether in the URL (together with the succeeding slash, of course). For example, my own podcast URL in the Store is
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sound-of-78s/id166389425?mt=2
    but this works perfectly well:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/id166389425
Indeed you can even put your own title:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/any_old_title/id166389425
So it's as simple as that!

  • ITunes' podcasts no longer download (?)

iTunes' podcast downloads had for the most part been downloading fine until the partition that they had been on was deleted and I had to recreate the iTunes folder on that partition from a backup.
When booting from my primary drive using 10.3.9 I can no longer manually, or automatically, download podcasts. And oddly, even podcasts that exist on that partition will not even open in iTunes.
Yet... when I boot from 10.4.9 on a secondary drive which shares the same recreated partition with my iTunes folder (with the podcasts on it) I can download podcasts manually and automatically and it will play all of them without problems.
Common sense would simply be to delete the com.apple.iTunes.plist and maybe even the com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist files. (Which I did.) But this didn't work even though I did this with iTunes inactive and rebooted. So... it would seem that the next step would be to reinstall iTunes. So I deleted both the iTunes app and the preference files again and rebooted. Still my podcasts won't either manually download or automatically download and the really strange thing is that the ones that were downloaded while booted from 10.4.9 will not play when booted from 10.3.9.
I then resubscribed to the broadcasts (i.e. podcasts) and though the available podcast lists appear for each broadcast with "Get" next to each... when I click on them they won't download and I get the icon at the far left showing there is a problem.
Though this might be a prebind problem for the last issue... I don't see how that would affect iTunes not being capable of downloading podcasts from 10.3.9.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've been listening to iTunes' podcasts for years without this problem so I can only imagine that it must have something to do with the fact that the partition had to be recreated (though I can't see how that fact would affect iTunes in this way when I DIRECTLY drop the podcast files on to the iTunes app icon... and they still will not play. This would bypass any prebind problem it would seem).
Thanks for reading this lengthy post.
Systems 10.3.9 and 10.4.9 on separate internal drives in the same box using iTunes 7.01 (7). Though I had been using iTunes 6.05 with 10.3.9 before this problem occurred. But when I couldn't solve the problem I upgraded to 7.01 with 10.3.9 -- since it was working with 10.4.9 I thought I'd give it a try -- but even that didn't solve the problem.)
    RonL
Mac OS X (10.3.9) 10.3.9 and podcasts don't work, but 10.4.9 and podcasts do work

It appears that I solved the problem. (I like to post my solutions so as to both not waste peoples time and so that if this ever happens to someone else it might help.)
My iTunes alias of the iTunes folder that is by default placed in the Music folder (i.e. ~/Music/iTunes) was broken after the partition where I had moved it was recreated.
Or... since I also forced a re-prebinding (not a simple 'update prebinding') it may have been this since my music in the same folder (on the recreated iTunes folder on the recreated partition) was playing fine and from 10.4.9 the podcasts played fine.
So it may have been both... but anyway... the podcasts are working fine again.

  • How to upload podcasts which are not in the iTunes podcast library?

or how to create a playlist of podcasts?
I have some podcasts as mp3 files I'd like to upload. These podcasts are not in the Itunes podcast library. I downloaded them from another source. What I do not understand is why iTunes makes a difference between podcast mp3 files and music mp3 files. If I put my podcasts into a playlist and try to synchronise the playlist with iPhone, the files are not uploaded. Actually I do not see the playlist listed in the page "Music" of my device "iPhone".
    Any ideas?

I've usually found using outer joins to be very efficient in performing NOT IN/NOT EXIST type operations.

  • Does not appear in my itunes podcast

A few days ago I asked Apple that eliminated my iTunes podcast to change the RSS feed on the other, but now that I have removed will not let me upload a new feed and tells me has already been sent. How I can fix this?

You will need to change the title slightly. You can always change it back afterwards, assuming that the method you are using to create your podcast does not change the feed URL when you do this.
