In iTunes 7 playlist disappears when shuffle removed

In iTunes 6 there was an option to keep the playlist of the shuffle shown above the smart playlist area after the iPod was removed. After updating to iTunes 7 I cannot find how to turn this back on.
Now when the iPod is either ejected or removed (properly) the playlist disappears. Am I missing something or has Apple removed this handy feature?
It was nice to be able to make changes to the iPod's playlist while the iPod was disconntected.

I was actually relieved to read that I wasn't the only one that lost my iPod playlist as soon as I removed my iPod. Being a newbie I thought I was doing something wrong. Now I will try and unintall version 7 and see if I can't go back to my original version, which worked JUST FINE.

  • Part of selected playlist playing when shuffled

I have a 5th generation iPod Nano. In my iTunes, I created a Smart playlist for all my podcasts. They are all checked and synced perfectly fine to my ipod. But when I select to shuffle on my ipod, it will only play like 48 or 53 of them, and then go back to the playlist screen. My question is: Why won't my ipod nano play all of a playlist when selected to shuffle?
    Thanks to all,
    MiKayla

    Hello MiKayla A.
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I would first figure out which podcasts are not being shuffled. Then for each of these podcasts, make sure the *Skip when Shuffling* option is not enabled for it from under the Options tab of its *Get Info* window in iTunes.
That's about all I have for suggestions though.

  • Create iTunes Workflow to "Skip When Shuffling?"

I've been searching the forums, but haven't found a response yet. I'm a novice at Automator, as I've just switched from Panther to Tiger. Is it possible to create a workflow to mark a series of "songs" (in my case, the list of iTrip frequencies) to "Skip When Shuffling" so that they don't show up in the Party Shuffle or play when shuffling all songs? It's a lot of "songs" to go through manually. Thanks!
    Curt

    ibosket,
I was able to accomplish the turning off of the iTrip frequencies by doing the following:
    Automater Actions
    1) Find Songs in iTunes Action(Find: Songs; Whose: Playlist is Library and Whose: Album is equal to iTrip
    2) Run AppleScript Action with the following AppleScript copied from the Script Editor and replacing the complete text in the Automator "Run AppleScript" action and not just where it says (* Your script goes here *).
    click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "iTunes"
    repeat with aTrack in input
set enabled of aTrack to false
    end repeat
    end tell
    return input
    end run</pre>

  • HT1386 Why do all my playlists disappear when I plug my iPod Touch Gen 5 into iTunes?

When I plug my iPod touch gen 5 into my MacBook into iTunes (the latest version) using my included USB cord, it deletes all of my playlists on the iPod. Why is this and how can I make it stop?

If you don't have the same playlists on your computer, your iPod will sync to your computer. On your computer, while iPod plugged in, go to the top and push the music button. At the top of the new page, push the button called don't sync music

  • Playlists disappear when I hook up to iTunes

When I plug my iPhone 3GS into my computer it pulls up my phone in iTunes but then defaults to really old playlists. I have to recreate the playlists in my phone over and over again. These are playlists I had created on my phone. Not playlists within iTunes. It happens automatically. I have it set on manual sync. As soon as it sees my phone my playlists are gone. I have backed up and synced thinking that was the issue but apparently not.

Connect the device to the iTunes the iPod is normally synced with in recovery mode and restore it.  See this article for instructions on getting the iPod into recovery mode.

  • How can I make iTunes exclude some songs when shuffling?

I have several thousand songs on my Ipod.  I want to add several hundred holiday songs and put them in their own playlist.  How can I prevent them from playing when I turn on Shuffle and play everything else on the player except the holiday music?

Right-click the track(s), Get Info, go to the Options tab, and check "Skip When Suffling."

  • Cost Center Disappearing When I remove Order Reason Code

    Hello SAP Experts,
When the user removes ther order reason code and saves the order the value in the cost center disappears on the order. Anyone know why this is happening?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hello,
After some testing I realized that the users picks the blank order reason code on the sales order and clicks on save. That removes any of the cost center information on the order.  The blank order reason code is not on the order reason table, it is a valid choice on the sales order. Table OVF3 is not valid since it doesn't have a blank order reason as a choice. Is there a work around?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • Playlist disappears when the battery runs down ...

Anyone experienced this? The battery runs flat, then when you recharge, the playlist is empty, and it's impossible to use the iPod. But when you connect it to a computer ... any computer, using a USB ... bingo! Back comes the playlist! Lesson? Don't let the battery die down. But this is kind of hard to control.

    Thanks for the reply.
Doesn't Apple recommend that you do exercise the battery by using its full capacity? They even recommend running it down from full until the computer saves the contents of memory to the special file, then leaving it 5 hours before charging fully again.
I have never heard of the 20% threshold before.
The odd behaviour in my case is that the computer sometimes does what is should: saves the memory then shuts down and when started restores that data, but at others does not save the data first, and starts up normally when I plug in the power and switch on.

  • I see songs in my ipod in itunes but some disappear when I disconnect it.

I have over 1500 songs on my ipod. Recently I have noticed that although some songs I have already added are seen as if they were already in my ipod on iTunes, some songs can't be found when I try to find them in my ipod when it is not connected to my computer. I mean how come I can see 3 songs of
one artist on iTunes when I go to "David's ipod"s song list but only one when my ipod is not connected? it is crazy!
Note: Yes all the songs are under the same artists, no spelling mistakes.

Do they ALL have album names?

  • Playlists disappear on iPhone when using iCloud

Help! My playlists disappear when connected to iCloud. This just started about 2 days ago.
    First the basics:
    On the Mac:
    iTunes 10.5.1 (42)
"Your software is up to date" according to Software Update
    iCloud is ON
Music and playlists are still on the Mac
    On the Phone:
    iPhone 4GS 64 GB
    iOS 5.0.1
"Your software is up to date" according to General > Software Update on the iPhone
Settings > Music > iTunes Match is ON
Settings > Music > Show All Music is ON
Settings > iCloud > Account is Logged IN
Playlists DO show up when connected VIA USB and in Music > More > Shared (only comes up when connected via USB) -- The playlists will sync to the phone when Shared > My Library is checked.
I haven't lost any music but this makes it impossible to use my iPhone for playing playlists in the car since once the device is disconnected from USB it is disconnected from Home Sharing and the playlists disappear.
I've tried deleting and readding the content to a playlist and that does not help. I have tried to create new playlists and they will not show up on the iPhone. I have synced the phone without the USB cable (over WiFi) and that copied some art files over but there was no change in the playlist.
Anyone have anything similar happen? Any other ideas? I tried a search and nothing relevant came up.
    Thanks for any help!

I was able to fix my issue, for now, by
    - Making sure the playlists were still in iTunes and set as I wanted
    - Backing up the iPhone VIA USB to iTunes
    - Doing a restore of the iPhone from the backup I just made in iTunes
However, now I have to go and grab "from the cloud" all the songs that were removed from the phone backup.
At least for now I am back up.

  • Internal speakers disappear when headphones are removed

My built in mac book speakers disappear when I remove my headphone. The system preferences says that they are not present. I've tried restarting and resetting pram. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried blowing into the headphone jack? There could be an accumulation of dust in there.

  • Batch set "Skip when shuffling" option

I recently discovered that iTunes has a "Skip When Shuffling" checkbox on the options tab of the Get Info window.
I was going to ask if anyone knew of a way to set that option on multiple tracks at once because I have several hundred I wanted to select it for, but I realized that I could do a quick Google search first...
And found an Applescript to do this here.
I didn't come across an answer when searching the forums, so I decided I should post this, just in case anyone else ever wonders if this is possible.

Thanks Mike - I just imported 83 mpeg audio files from a CD of old radio shows and wanted to exclude them all from being shuffled. Doug Adams' script works like a charm.

  • All of my playlists made on my Ipod touch 3rd gen keep disappearing when I sync it to itunes. Drivng me crazy. All software up to date on both itunes and Ipod. Help please.

All of my playlists made on my Ipod touch 3rd gen keep disappearing when I sync it to itunes. Drivng me crazy. All software up to date on both itunes and Ipod. Help please.
I tend to make my playlists right on my ipod. This did not happen for the last 2 years. Just started recently. Did get a new computer recently.

That is because you got a new computer. You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. You can sync from any computer to iPod using the manual method but that does not sync from iPod to computer.
To make this your syncing computer:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities

  • ITunes playlist songs disappear when selected to play

iTunes playlist songs disappear when selected to play - ie double-clicked, or clicked once and then play selected. The song doesn't play although there is a brief 'flash' of something at the top of the screen where you would normally see the song details mwhile playing.
The song is not deleted from the library but is still missing from the playlist when iTunes is restarted.

    Ron Kozinski wrote:
I just recently upgraded to iTunes 9 and have found that some songs (18 of 750) will no longer play. I get a couple different error messages, one saying iTunes cannot find the URL for the song and another saying iTunes cannot find the file for the song. I hate to pay for these songs again since I already purchased them from the iTunes store, but I don not know what other options are available. Has anyone had this problem and if so, is there a way to fix these songs?
Usually that occurs when the file, or one of its containing folders, is moved, renamed, or deleted. If you remember doing one of those things, see if you can put it back the way it was. Otherwise, search on your hard drive for the song file, and re-add it to your library.
