In itunes if "Songs" is selected a column with a Check Sign header is displayed. What does this column mean?

In itunes with "Songs" selected there is a column labled with a header which is simply a check sign. If you select "View" a pulldown menu titled "View Options" appears and one has the option to either display (or not display) the "Checked" column. I get that. But what does it mean when a song is shown as "Checked" versus not being "Checked" That part I don't understand. Is it used in conjunction with another operator? I understand columns labled "Name", "Artist", "Alumn" but "Check Sign" is new to me. Please help.

This is the Rating - the equivalent of the rating that you would have for a film (PG, 12, 15 etc)
Britain does not have a TV rating system equivalent to this - like they have in America. TV shows you download with adult content may be rated caution. You can't then restrict access to them using itunes or device parental controls.
There is no way as far as I know in iTunes to change the rating. You have to do this with a third party tagging application.

It means you should take it to the Genius Bar. You will no doubt need to buy an out of warranty replacement.

A friend recenlty replaced my hard drive.
When I try to use itunes--I receive this message: "The song could not be used because the original could not be found, would you like to locate it? Next to my songs I see this: "!" Help--Please!!

Well what happened is the pathname to the song has changed slightly.
For instance if the song was located say c\:Windows\User\Mary\Music\iTunesFolder
and now it's c:\Windows\User\MaryXray\Music\iTunesFolder
I'm assuming here your music was replaced in the Music folder like on the old hard drive, that iTunesFolder was simply copied over in whole.
So to fix things, you go into the iTunes Folder in your Music Folder and look for a iTunes Music Library .XML file and open it in a Text Program that has "find and replace" ability.
You find the partial pathname of the old drive and you replace ALL instances of it with the new pathname.
so \Windows\User\Mary would be changed to
\Windows\User\MaryXray
Save the file and reopen iTunes.

I hooked my ipod classic up to my mac to update it. It took for ever to detect. Than I got a message saying an error was detected that I should restore. I did. It than erased my ipod. than it synched up to itunes it said it was done and it was ok to disconnect so I did and my ipod is still blank... it said error 1433 was detected. To restore you need iTunes 10.7 or later and that requores OSX 10,6,8 or later

I've recently moved my computer and when I've set it back up again all the songs in my library have two versions one preceded by an exclamation mark and followed by cloud symbol with an exclamation mark in it. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

I'v also moved my library to an external hard drive as I'd run out of space. I don't know if this has caused the problem.

Did you manage to find anything out, because the thing that bothered me was the limited functionality (what ever that is).
