You can't delete it directly from the phone unless you erase all of the content off the phone. You don't need to delete it from your iTunes library, but it does need to be connected to iTunes to remove the song(s) from the phone.

My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?
It would be so much easier having seperate accounts but we have hundreds of her purchased songs on my account and she would need to be able to access these from her account. Possible?
Also, if we bought a song in future we would want to be able to both have access to it.
Alternatively, what is the easy way to sync two distinctly different contact lists to one iTunes account?

You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own. -
I have an Iphone 4, I have music files that appear on my phone that I want to delete, when I link it to my computer the songs on the phone will not appear in Itunes so I can delete them, Is there any way to delete these song off the phone without going through Itunes?
Nope, it either needs to be plugged in or turned on with the power button.
A replacement iPhone 4 is $149, but at least the whole phone is replaced. -

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:

If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:

Thank you. I was afraid of that. I backed up from iCloud. I looked at the iTunes one - it had four different ones on there; was hoping I could see because my grandson's phone was redone last year (his mom messed it up then) and didn't know anything was backed up to iTunes. He lost a lot of stuff that time. I'm just trying to get his phone back to par after someone changed his passcode on him as a joke and forgot what they changed it to a few days ago. I tried recovery software but had no luck!You reformatted the drive in your computer. The backup files you want to access were overwritten when you re-formatted the drive. They are gone. There may be data recovery services that can get them back. Search google if you want. This has absolutely nothing to do with using an iPhone at this point. You deleted files on your computer...

My computer crashed and I downloaded Itunes on a new computer and I'm trying to download new music to my ipod and a message comes up thatsays 'my ipod is synced with another Itunes library' {obviously my dead computer} and I can either 'Erase and Sync or Transfer Itunes purchases'. I have a Belgian Apple ID, but want to use the UK i-tunes store. I get a dialogue box saying "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Belgian itune store". Is there any way around this? Thanks, Jackie and Manuel
When you move to Portugal (very nice, I've just come back from visiting Cascais/Sintra/Sines ) I think you'll just get re-directed to Portuguese iTunes. When I moved to France from the UK I got re-directed to the French store.
To view UK programmes in France I used to subscribe to a VPN server through https://www.my-private-network.co.uk/ (there are others, but very pleased with their service). The catch-up channels (iPlayer, etc) think you're in the UK so you can watch the programmes online. Wouldn't work with iTunes UK store though . -

From the Summary tab select: Sync only checked songs and videos.
Under Options in the Summary tab select: Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi
If you want you can select: Manually manage music and videos.
Select the music you want synced from your iTunes library, same with Contacts. -

Unfortunately, iCloud does not offer equivalents to Mobile Me’s iDisk, Gallery or Web Hosting services. You will need to find a third party solution to replace these services. You might considerDropBox, SugarSync, MediaFire or any other service that offers online storage. (not all these alternatives offer all the services previously provided by iDisk)
So it won't matter whether you have Snow Leopard or Lion, you will not be able to upload your website to iCloud. -
