In Keynote '09 distribute objects horizontally/vertically is distributing objects beyond the slide. How do I make the left-most and right-most objects the limit of the distribution?

I used to have the option of distributing objects so that they would overlap, but the current "distribute" tool is functioning as if overlapping isn't allowed. The result is that the objects move beyond the limits of the slide. Any suggestions?

I know that's what *should* happen, but it just doesn't. I've made screen-grabs of the entire process:
Like I said, this use to work just as you've described it. Is there a box I accidentally selected? I just really don't understand why the tool has changed the way it functions...

Flipping objects horizontally/vertically

This is one seriously goofy program folks...
Whenever you have a design that uses the "cookie cutter" tools in the A.W. Drawing program, (aka line tool, rectangle, oval, arc, rounded rect) DON't PLAN ON FLIPPING THEM! Even when they're grouped, they FALL APART! I've seen this for about 7 years and several versions, and it still hasn't been fixed!
In case you don't understand, if you made a drawing of a calculator, and used the rectangle to make the body and buttons, etc, and you were artistic and rotated the calc so it wasn't symmetrical (y'know, maybe tilted at a 45 deg. angle?) when you choose FLIP HORIZONTALLY, it "breaks" the calc apart so the buttons look as if they fell off! Can someone solve this many years long mystery for me? I know you can bring it in to paint and do it, but why not be able to do it in it's native format?

You can set the window transparency with something like:
theWindow's setBackgroundColor:(current application's NSColor's clearColor)
theWindow's setOpaque:false
I haven't seen a way using public APIs to blur behind the window, but I'm not sure about using ASObjC with stuff like Core Image, anyway.
You might also try something like setting the background to a gray color and play with the grayscale and alpha values (colorWithCalibratedWhite:0.0 alpha:0.2, for example).

I have a close up close-up image of an orchid with blurred background. I am trying to make the background black and white while maintaining the foreground color on the petals, buds and stems. Any ideas?

Use the Blank & White Brick and either brush the effect onto the background or brush is away from the foreground. "Detect Edges" will help control the edge of the mask.
You might be interested in knowing that you can brush on/away masks of different strengths, and thus produce effects in between 0% and 100%.

How about buffered acquisition? You can let your DAQCard acquire the number of samples you require instead of doing it with a FOR loop. Using a FOR loop means that you are software timed, which may as well be untimed since it's about as deterministic as the weather in Florida.
Look for the "Acquire N Scans.vi" example.
If you want to do this the RIGHT way, use continuous acquisition. Start your acquisition and keep doing AI Read in a loop. Also include your porcessing and display functions in the loop. Just make sure your loop runs fast enough to keep up with your acquisition. At 250 Hz, you should have no problem.

How do I make a fixed edge feather over an object in motion?

This is probably something really simple to do, but I'm struggling trying to find instructions anywhere on how to do this.
Anyways, I have an image that I added motion to so it moves across the screen. I want an edge feather on both sides of the screen though so it fades in instead of just appearing from the edge of the video. When I try to apple an edge feather filter, it feathers the edges of the image and moves with it. Is there a way I can do this? Maybe a mask of some sort? I tried using a slug and positioning it and feathering it as I want, but a slug is a solid color and then it blocks out the video behind it.

Assuming your keyframed shot isn't scaled down, move it up to V3 and on V2 insert a Square
shape from the generators tab. Scale and add softness according to the amount of 'Fade' you require
and select composite mode 'Travel Matte-Luma' to V3. You should see V3 fade in but retain it's hard edge.

When you create a new object you have to supply the class to which that
object belongs. A class can extend from another class. If it does so
explicitly you can define the 'parent' class from which the class extends.
If you don't explicitly mention anything, the class will implicitly extend
from the absolute base class named 'Object'.
Your example is a bit convoluted: when you create a Derived object,
its constructor creates another object, i.e. an object from the class from
which the Derived class extends.
Extending from a class and creating an object don't have much in common.

Help!! How do you keep objects in the same order in a 20 page doc when inserting a new object?

I am creating a catalog of pictures only, as objects.
They are organized alphabetically, 4 images per page as a 2x2 grid, for 20 pages.
I want to insert a NEW object (image) in the middle of these 20 pages, and want all the objects after it to shift over one spot to make room.
How do I get the objects after the inserted ones to shift, as text would if you inserted more text in the middle of a paragraph?
I can't figure out how do do that (without just putting the images in a text box and in-line, but then I lose all the spacing controls)...

ID ships with a free Image Catalog script in the sample scripts. You don't need to buy one.
And that isn't going to do what you want, exactly. You'd have to re-run the script each time you add an image to make a new file, and you don't get to set the sort order yourself.

Drag and dropping database objects in Jdev

I evaluated Visual Cafe and deciding wheather to go with VC or JDev. One of the cool things I noticed in VC is that one can drag and drop database objects in the form using DBNavigator. I haven't seen anything similar in JDev 3.1. Does this or something similar exist in JDev?

Yes, the DB Navigator in Visual Cafe may provide a nice simple look at the database Tables - but so does JDeveloper's Database Navigator - VC may excel in the Drag and Drop functionality - but this is not the real objective. Let me explain...

How can i centre the slide in keynote so that i can see all around the sides

Hi,
I'm animating some elements to move across a slide but when the slide displays it is always top left of the window, so if I move something off the top or to the left I can't then get at it to select it. Is there anyway to centre the slide in the display so I can see all around it?

The slide is always top left when zoomed down.
Apples method when using builds to animate objects on to the screen, is to place the object at
the final / completed position, then add the effect type, direction and duration.

Exact & Precise Horizontal & Vertical alignment of Radio Buttons

How can I align RADIO BUTTONS used in a LIKERT SCALE both horizontally (i.e. EXACTLY on the SAME ROW) and vertically (i.e. for each row EXACTLY COLUMN UNDER each other). Using the grid is most clumsy and my buttons appear "wobbly" both horizontally and vertically. The SHIFT and CTRL keys do not seem to help much. SHIFT is horizontally and vertically too coarse (even though the grid has been defined to be very fine) and the CTRL just deforms the button. There are a number of options. One is to set up guides, and fields will snap to them when one of the field borders is brought near. To add a guide, show the rulers (Ctrl+R) and click/drag one from either the horizontal or vertical ruler.
You can also select multiple fields, right-click on one of them, and select the option to align left, bottom, etc. The field that you right-click will be the model or anchor for the others. Other right-click option allow you to set multiple selected fields to the same size (height, width, both) and distribute them horizontally or vertically to they are evenly spaced.
