More specifically- What (besides the Environment window) complicated unnecessary techie stuff has been eliminated, and what useful stuff has been added? Also, is it easier to just get started with a project? In GB, you can go right away, but with Logic 7 you really had to know what you were doing just to begin sketching...

If you're not into building templates on your own L8 comes with a load full of useful and useless templates to start with. The new dynamic section is much more advanced (compressor, Multipressor) and the new Delay designer rocks da House! Creating Multi out-Instruments is much easier now and you can record directly into Logic through Busses which is a very helpful new feature. There are many threads in this Forum about the new features and the new Bugs so just read your way through some of these to get a bigger picture.

It tells you to do videos because they take up a lot of room, then pictures. If you have tons of music on there, or other media then you can fill up a drive pretty quickly. You'll have to do an inventory of how much is on there.
I don't know anything about iPads but if they are anything like computers you need to empty the trash to actually free up space from deleted items.

You might think so. But it's difficult to decide what people mean. You understood the question, I didn't. If you copied the catalog and everything from the old computer to the new one and utilized the old catalog, the smart collections should still be in place. The old catalog would have to be converted to the new format, and you might have to relink missing images. But after that is all done the smart collections should be in place.

I do not have a backup from Mavericks, but Yosemite is causing too many problems. In LAYMAN'S terms, is there a way to get Mavericks back without losing all my files?

I updated to Yosemite while I was overseas and didn't have strong enough internet to do a Time Machine backup (it took hours to get Yosemite as it was and now I know that was dumb). Yosemite has made my older Mac almost un-usable. In LAYMAN'S terms, Is there a way I can go back to Mavericks or even an older system without losing my current files? I know nothing about computers and have not been able to find anyone in town that could help. Even the guy at the Genius Bar at Apple couldn't figure out how to help me. This whole Yosemite debacle has been the first time I've been disappointed in Apple. It has gotten me questioning whether I should go back to a PC.

How to manage different load frequencies in OWB?
We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.1.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.1.31. The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.3.0). OWB is installed on Linux.
We have situation to bring data feed into database using OWB on different load frequency. Eg. Daily, weekly and monthly.
Are there any builtin features/best approaches in OWB to implement the above?
Does runtime audit tables maintain such load frequency data?
If not, do we need to maintain our own tables (custom) to maintain such data?
How do we able to validate before starting ETL process with respect to previous load frequency for current load?
How did our forum members handled above situations?
Any idea ?

If you look at the OWB public function WB_RT_GET_LAST_EXECUTION_TIME you can examine the query OWB uses to return this information. It is based entirely on public views that you should already have synonyms for in your OWB user.
Now, how you want to implement logic to determine if a mapping is run is entirely up to you If you are using process flows you could embed your call to start a mapping in a custom transformation that queries the repository and starts a given mapping if it deems the correct interval to have passed. We do something similar as a means to perform a process flow restart (it will skip over any successfully completed mappings from the last run if the last COMPLETE run did not finish succesfully), so that a restart picks up where the last run failed.
The main caveat I would make to mining the runtime repository is that someone purging old data might very well purge the data you are depending on, so you might want to build a couple of tables to hold your own metadata for you. E.g. one table holding the mapping name and desired interval between loads, and another holding the mapping name and last run date. The second table could get updated by the post-mapping procedure of each mapping.
Anyway, the data IS there in the repository. How you intend to access it or how much you are willing to trust its persistence is up to you.

Why logical column in terms of other logical columns and not physical sourc

Can someone shed some light that in what scenario ..defining a logical column in terms of other logical column is beneficial compared to defining logical column in terms of physical sources?
I found something on google that said defining in terms of logical columns is like one time thing. I dont understand, even if you define in terms of physical source that' too one time.
In both the case we build an expression specifying which logical or physical columns.

well logical columns from physical source, if in logical fact table you can set aggr rules. Logical columns based on other logical columns you can not. Logical columns based on other logical columns will inherit the aggr rules. So for instance, if you create col1 and col2. Both based off physical and both having sum aggr rule. If you create logical column col3 based off these two as such "col1"/"col2" it will produce the following sum(col1)/cum(col2). Now if you really wanted sum(col1/col2) then you should have made col3 based off physical as col1/col2 with aggr rule of sum.
Also of some note, all logical columns based off physical will be performed in the inner most query. So for my example above to get col3 where it is logical col1/logical col2 or sum(col1)/sum(col2) the physical query will be:
select D1.c1/D1.c2
from (
select sum(col1) as c1,
sum(col2) as c2
from tableA
) D1
So my short summary of this, is what or how do you want your sql to be created. Based on this can you lead you to your answer of whether to use logical col based on physical or other logical columns. And unltimately, check the sql generated from your work to ensure the sql queries generated are what you want and expect.

I have a requirement to be able to email PO to Partner function OA maintained in Schema already and gets defaulted into PO. Presently output type NEU uses External send 5 and uses email address maintained in Vendor master and send it to VN.
Is it possible to maintain different email id for partner function OA, so I can set up different condition reocord, tabkle & sequence to do the job but I am stuck on how to maintain different data for OA partner.
Any help in this regard is much appreciated!

it is better to develop a customised program for this,
and you can create new out put type also,
assign the program to the new output type,
maintain one customised table with mail ids of VN & OA ,
and the logic should be as , if the OA mail id is differs from the VN mail id,
system need to pick the OA mail id and send the mail,

Can anyone explain in simple terms how to set up icloud when I have 2 identities?

I use my mac.com id for my calendar and contacts, but have a different ID for store purchases and everything else. I would like to set up my iCloud with a single ID, but I don't want to lose all my historical calendar and contact data, so I need my iCloud tpo import the data from the Mobile.Me 'mac.com' account.
Everything I have read is confusing....can anyone explain in simple terms how I sert the iCloud up? I run a Macbook, a Windows 7 PC and an iphone, and I need them all to syns together.
Any help appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can drag all your contacts (all at once) and each calendar from address book and iCal to your desktop as a back up/copy. Once you have set up iCloud using the ID for your apps, books and tunes etc, you can add the contacts and calendars to the new account by clicking on the desktop files, iCloud will sync them to your other devices.

Overloading methods that do logically different things, does this break any major principles?

This is something that's been bugging me for a bit now. In some cases you see code that is a series of overloads, but when you look at the actual implementation you realize they do logically different things. However writing them as overloads allows the caller
to ignore this and get the same end result. But would it be more sound to name the methods more explicitly then to write them as overloads?

I think you could define a class with many complex behavior, and the behavior has the same method name with different parameters like below:

I think it would be better not to use the “LoadWords(lines)” in the “public void LoadWords(string filePath)”. When you modify the “LoadWords(IEnumerable<string> words”, it would affect the “LoadWords(lines)” method and the function of the “LoadWords(lines)”method
might be effected.

How to use Different Main Windows in Multiple pages to print internal table

Hi experts,
I have a problem regarding how to have multiple different main windows in smartforms..the problem is that i want to print an internal table in the third page of the smartform and that table can have dynamic values ..sometime it may have more than 400 values also which can not be printed in one or two pages ...
so to accomplish the same what i did was..
i tried creating a new main window in the third page but it is throwing an error saying two main windows not allowed and i also tried by copying the first page's main window but it is just repeating the same content what was there in second page..
i also tried by creating a secondary window in the third page and in that window i tried giving my internal table and tried by giving the next page to itself but that also is not allowed and it throws an error saying a page without a main window cannot point to itself as a next page....
i also tried using a secondary window and in that window i was trying to display the internal table but it is only showing third page content and fourth page itself was not created....although in my next page field value of the third page , i have given the third page itself as a next page ....but this also is not working ,.....
please suggest how to have different main windows(not copy of first main window) in smartforms in order to display the dynamic contents of an internal table

Just check with your smart styles with assigned paragraph allignment .
Try to create character style with your required font ,size and Allignment .

I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...

In output options u can define whether a page can portrait or land scape in print attributes.

Hi Annapurna,
There's no limit that I'm aware of or which is mentioned anywhere. Just as an example: I have a logical fact table with around 750 logical columns (>500 original measures & 250 derived measures). No issue whatsoever. Opening the presentation table through answers takes about 2-3 seconds (the NQSQL command has a lot to retrieve), but that's about it.
