In Lion, is archiving mailboxes now also a thing of the past?

I have a mail archive on one of my hard drives - external. I just realized that now, in Lion I canonly archive messages and they are put in an archive folder on the server. Which server no-one tells me, mine is actually not anything mac or apple, and I have no control over mailboxes any longer in the archive. It's a happy mish-mash. I want control over my archiving back. Why don't they improve iOS for the entertainment toys, rather than dumbing down the software we need to work?
This together with the nonsense they did to iCal is enough to drive me to other vendor's products.

Well, the AppleCare warranty is always a good idea. It's $59, but if your battery dies after the first year, it's $59 to replace just that. The warranty covers all parts of the iPod for another year. Plus, you get phone support. It won't cost you more because they discontinued the mini. Also, if you buy from someone other than Apple, they most likely offer their own extended warranty for the iPod. I bought mine at Best Buy, and they offered a four-year warranty for about $40.
Apple's redesigned the iPod a few times over the years. The first two "generations" of the iPod were not particularly popular because it wasn't until not long before the third generation came out that they were compatible with Windows. They were also quite a bit bigger than the newer models. The 3rd generation iPods have the buttons above the scroll wheel -- that's the one I have. The fourth generation iPods have a scroll wheel like the iPod mini -- these are the ones that Apple currently sells.
There are two "generations" of the mini: the original 4GB model they introduced in January 2004 and the newer 4 and 6GB models they introduced a few months ago. The second generation also has better battery life, but that's about it.

At least Logic Pro 9 and Logic Pro X work correctly in Mountain Lion. Furthermore, Logic Pro X requires the latest OS X Mountain Lion version

Since Lion, system profiler is now a question mark in the dock. Can I get it back? dsso

In Lion, there is no Systim Profiler. It is System Information now located in the Utilities Folder. Open that up and select to keep it in the Dock.
Drag the icon for system profiler off the Dock.

  • Unable to create 'Archive' mailbox 'on my mac', get error 'The mailbox "Archive" already exists'

Under user/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes there is only one folder 'Outbox.mbox'
It seems to be storing this name somewhere and hanging on to it but I can't work out where.
Any suggestions appreciated, let me know if further information is needed.

The 10.5.7 combo updater didn't resolve this problem. What finally fixed it was migrating the account to my new MacBook.

After having upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2, I can not turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. After trying various tricks I found via online forums such as software reset, enable Airplane mode, and resetting the network settings, I have now also completed reset of the phone WITHOUT success. Is there something more to it? If not learn hardly be any more iPhone for me. Really disappointed. Grateful for help!

If you have tried all of the steps in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559 and have completed all of the user troubleshooting, restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new, then make an appointment with the Apple store to have the hardware checked.

  • Outlook 2010 clients cannot access their Online Archive mailbox in Exchange 2013??

    Hello,
I have an issue where my Outlook 2010user cannot see/access their Archive mailbox when they are migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.
Both the live and archive mailbox is in Exchange 2013, the user can launch Outlook but if they click on their Archive mailbox it is unavailable.
Once the user is upgraded to SP2 or Outlook 2013 they have no issues accessing their archive mailbox.
These users have the minimum required Outlook version (14.0.6126.5000),
    they are running 14.0.6129.5000.
Is there a different requirement on the Outlook client if the user has an archive mailbox in Exchange 2013 as well?
    Thank you.

There's no need to go to the store if you don't want to. You can purchase and download the new version from the Parallels web site. In fact if you want to try it out, I believe you can do the download and get a two week trial version. Later you can purchase the serial number to make it official.
I cannot be certain about your data, but I did not lose anything when I updated to Lion and faced a similar situation.
    Best of luck.

  • Having extreme problems using the new iMac, adobe CS5 (in particular InDesign) and OSX 10.8.2 (and now also 10.8.3) Mountain Lion

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? My computer is 2 months old and has hardly any files stored on it. Also, my
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB and my memory is 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
I am only running one thing on the computer as we speak - making a small pattern in InDesign - yet is has been frozen for over 20 mins, and that's not the first time this has happened.
I updated to the latest Mountain lion this morning (10.8.3) and its exactly the same.
I dont understand why this is happening, but on the older iMac i could run several windows of the entire creative suite without a problem - i was also using Snow Leopard.
    please help!

  • Set the default size for all archive mailboxes including the ones it will be created in the future

    Hi there.
We are in the phase where we Will enable Online Archive for all the users.
We see that the default Archiving Quota is set up for 50 GB. We have found this powershell command on MsTechnet forum
    Get-Mailbox -resultsize unlimited | where {$_.ArchiveDatabase -ne $null} | set-mailbox -ArchiveQuota 7GB -ArchiveWarningQuota 6GB
which I guess it will set up the ArchiveQuota to 7GB to all the users, true?
The question is if this command will work only for those users who currently have archiving enabled or it Will also work for those users which we are planing to enable archiving in the future?
The idea is that everyone would not have 50GB by default and this should be a default value also for those who currently do not have archiving enabled.
    with best regards,

    Hi there.
    I don't quite get it.
I have created "for example" a database called: STH ARCHIVE.
Then if I take look on properties of this database this is how it's shown:
And now here comes the "tricky part" which is a little bit odd to me.
I have enabled archive on my mailbox and selected this STH ARCHIVE DB to hold this archive mailbox.
Then I have manually ran ManagedFolderAssistant for my account: Start-ManagedFolderAssistant -Identity "my-email-address"
And after I have greped the size of my mailbox:
    Get-Mailbox | Get-MailboxStatistics -Archive | Sort totalitemsize -desc | ft displayname,totalitemsize, itemcount >C:\report-archive-database-mailboxes.txt
    And get the result:
    Personal Archive - MYUSERNAME
    TotalItemSize: 4.071 GB (4,371,586,689 bytes)
    ItemCount: 55227
So now I don't understand how I was able to go thru that sizes which are in the upper print screen of archive DB properties?

  • Exchange Online Archiving - Is there a way to also sync that to the PC too?

We are running Exchange 2010 and we have our remote users using the Online Archives. We now have a user in India who sometimes is without internet access so of course his archives are not accessible. We could remove him from the Online Archives and set him up with an old PST but then we lose the functionality of having his archived email backed up as well as the other benefits of online archiving. (granted he could back up his PST in case of HD failure but I am sure that will never happen. His internet speed is also limited in India so it would be too difficult to try and sync a PST back to a server somehow.) So I am just curious if anyone has ever found a way to sync an Online Archive locally or some up with some sort of work around for this? a plugin or a registry tweak. One option we kicked around was to create a 2nd mailbox for...

PowerShell is good for a lot of things, but when you're in the midst of writing – and rewriting – a script, keeping a bottle of Advil in close quarters may feel like a necessity. But there's an easier way.According to Petri, Microsoft's prepackaged script snippets can save you headaches and time.In an official blog post, Microsoft explains that snippets give you an easy way to "paste arbitrary text into theISE console and script editor, right where you need it." Snippets help improve the productivity, discoverability, and usability of any given script. Petri walks you through how to discover Microsoft's prepackaged script snippets and, for the more ambitious, how to add your own. More than that, however, Petri gives you prewritten cmdlets that help you expedite the process of discovering snippets and loading them. If you've used...

  • Creating Smart Mailbox Folders in Mail.app (Lion): they do not save and disappear every time the application closes....

    Hello there -
Hopefully someone can help, because this is just frustrating and weird.  In Mail on Mac OSX Lion, I can create all the Smart Mailboxes I want, but if I try to create a Smart Mailbox folder, it shows up just fine in the sidebar.  But, as soon as I close Mail, then re-open, the Smart Mailbox Folder is gone as if it never existed.  This happens whether or not I actually put any Smart Mailboxes in the folder.  Anyone else seen this issue and have suggestions?

Okay, I think I just discoverd a workaround. This will work if you're lucky enough to already have a smart-mailbox folder that persists after close. (Somehow I had two such folders that already existed and weren't subject to the mysterious disappearances on closing the app; perhaps I created them in a previous OS X release?) Anyway, here goes:
Locate an already existing smart mailbox folder that's working properly. Select the folder (in the sidebar).
Duplicate that folder using the "Duplicate Smart Mailbox" Command. (It's on the contextual pop-up menu or available via the gear icon in the lower left of the window). This should produce and exact copy of the folder and the boxes inside, appearing at the bottom of the smart mailbox list.
Edit the duplicate folder to put the smart mailboxes you want in it, and delete the previous mailboxes (duplicates) that you don't want.
The new folder structure should now persist between launches of the app.
There you go. Not the most elegant process, but workable. Don't know if there's a method if you don't have at least one smart mailbox folder already though.

  • Problems with Mountain Lion – Dock has gone and also clicking trackpad no longer works.

    Hi,
I’m not sure how best to explain the problem I am having but here goes anyway…I have a Macbook pro (mid 2009 model) and recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.  Everything seemed to be working ok and I was enjoying trying to work out all the new features. However yesterday when I switched the Macbook on, once it had started some strange things were happening. Firstly my dock at the bottom had disappeared. Normally this is at the bottom of the screen however this no longer the case. I used the keyboard shortcut to show the dock however when I do this, the dock appears but none of the icons increase in size when I hover over them (as used to happen).
The other thing that is happening is that I cannot click on anything to open or select an option. For example, I can’t click on anything on the dock (when I can get the dock to show) to open an application, I cannot select from drop down lists etc (ie select file then software updates). Even when I switch off my Macbook I can only hit return for the shutdown mode, and cannot select one of the other options, for example restart.  I tried to re-install Mountain Lion by holding down command and R (I think  - I read this on another forum and followed the instructions) however when the Macbook restarted and the various options came up, one of which is to re-install the software, I couldn’t select anything to do this due to this track pad problem I have explained (probably badly!) above.
I should point out that everything was fine for a few days after upgrading to Mountain Lion and then the above problems started.
Can anyone help?  I’m pretty stressed with the whole thing as I can’t use my Macbook now and am worried it’s permanently broken!!
Or am I better just taking it along to the genius bar at my local Apple store?
    Thanks in advance.

Not the same symptoms, but I noticed that after a few days of running great, odd things started happening on my iMac. The first thing was that when I would boot the Mac up for the first time in the morning, it would boot into single user mode. I have the Apple Bluetooth keyboard, so I know there's no way keys are being held down.
The other symptom was that Microsoft Outlook 2011 would hang on launch. It would get stuck on the "Setting Up Identities..." phase. Rebuilding the Outlook database would help until the next time I shut the iMac down.
Also a couple of times it got to the Desktop after a boot, but not everything was working correctly and some startup items didn't load.
The iMac also kept booting into single user mode on the first boot.
I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion, and I thought that fixed both problems, until the next morning. Now I just don't shut the Mac down. I can close Outlook, and it launches in a couple of seconds.
So it would appear that something is becoming corrupt when OS X is shut down. If I don't shut it down, it's fine.
