In list view in ibooks i have an indicator that looks like a media stop eg || in a circle on many lines. What is it

All of a sudden using Ibooks on my Ipad - many lines in list view have this indicator || inside a circle appearing on the far right and the books no longer open. I can find nothing about this in help. What is it and what does it mean

Hi John, I'm guessing that icon is created and updated by an extension. I'm not sure which one, though. Maybe something that is tracking the trackers, like Lightbeam? Have you tried hovering your mouse over the icon to see whether a tooltip appears, or clicking it?

Exported images have extra noise that looks like stars

Hello all, I don't know what Ive done but since I upgraded to Lightroom 5 I have a problem. I use it for images of the sky but now when I export, Ive tried tiff, jpeg and PSD, there is a great deal of noise that looks like thousands of extra stars and ruins the images. The images look great in Lightroom but not when I export. Can anyone offer some advice please. I'm struggling. Geoff

I think I have a virus that looks like Adobe

So my computer had a message this morning saying to update Adobe Active X
I also got "McAfee anti virus" on my computer for free. I am in an instant chat with them and they say that its fake and that they do not do that, so either this Adobe Active X update or whatever is also fake or somehow Adobe is piggy backing a "virus" with their stuff. I need help quick before I do anymore.
Now on the bad me side. I watch project free TV and it said that I needed to update my Adobe Active X, which was done by me. In the add remove programs it reads Adobe Systems Incorporated as the publisher, and I want to know if that is you? Please let me know, I wish you had system instant chat like McAfee

You need to be clear with product names; there is no such thing as Adobe ActiveX, but there is Adobe Flash Player ActiveX.
If you are unsure if you are offered the genuine product, go to the Adobe website and explicitly download the specific update.

I can play the music on my itunes under my purchased section but when I go to my phone when I have it connected the a lot of the songs won't play on my song or from the itunes under my phone. They have a little icon to the left of them that looks like a repeat icon. It won't let me delete them from there nor play them. When on my phone only it won't play them it just brings up the clip art but will not play. Please can anyone help me.

All that happens is it just flicks through it all and won't play any of it???

Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
Turn the Phone On...

If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button
For the WiFi issue try Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You can also power cycle your router, Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

Though I have doubts for success, you might try a SMC reset. It can do no harm. Otherwise, barring suggestions from others, the Apple Store or qualified repair facility is the last option.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Mac 'Finder' won't run on click/double-click without 1st closing Firefox & its little pop-up box (titled '2 items 0 kb available): why? & why have a Firefox icon (looks like a USB port on the desktop) too? Move that to Trash & Ffox doesn't work at all.

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

Help! The App Store was telling me to update my apps so I did an 'update all'. Half way through they stopped and now I have some apps that are greyed out and I cants open them or delete them. What do I do?

Thanks for the question. It sounds like you might have some apps that seem to be stuck on "Waiting." The following is a past discussion that dealt with a similar issue and may help you as well:

Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

Please HELP! Song appears in playlists and song lists, but when clicked, it goes to a random song. Nano only, not itunes. I have the nano thats almost like a square with the click wheel.

ONLY SOME songs appear in song list, but when clicked, play a random song instead of the one i chose. You can play the song on iTunes, just not the ipod nano. (the one that has a clickwheel and looks almost like a square)

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device. If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.
