In looking to solve a problem, a blue arrow appeared, now it is overlaying my screen.

I was searching for what I did to make a toolbar disappear, now there is a permanent blue arrow on my screen that will not move, pointing to toolbar hide / show at the scroll down.
thank you.

In what application?
But my guess is that you clicked on Help. Try clicking on it again.

  • Since downloading itunes 10 my ipod's features are messed up.  Currently I'm looking to delete apps.  They no longer appear on left side of itunes screen.  I try to click on apps on top of screen but apps are in a shadow mode and I can't click on them.

Since downloading itunes 10 my ipod's features are messed up and many do not now work.  Currently my problem is I want to delete some apps.  It no longer shows on the left side of itunes.  When I click on apps at the top, the apps appear shadowed and i cannot click on them.  If I check the box to sync them it says I will lose what's on my ipod and the things in my library will replace them.  What should I do?

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. • Blue pixels appear on screen when warm...

Am looking at buying a used 12" 867Mhz G4 Powerbook. The seller states that "there is only one issue with the laptop, when it gets warm blue pixels appear in certain areas of the screen."
Does anyone have any ideas on this... quick fix? or is the screen getting ready to die?
    Thanks in advance...

Blue Pixels appearing? hmmm, not good---take a look and see how many and if it is distracting -- there are pixel pix programs you can try and use, however, LCD screens are know for a dead pixel here and there. Whats weird is that the pixels are blue? Usually when a pixel dies, its colorless. If you are getting a great deal on the PB (as in real cheap) and the lixel issue isnt to bad -- then take a shot at it. You always get what you pay for.

  • I miss my blue arrow in google search (Safari 6)

    Hi All,
I am a big fan of using the tab key to initiate the blue selection arrow after doing a google search. This feature has been hampered by the Safari 6 upgrade.
I have changed my preferences so that "Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage " is in the "on" position, but the problem seems to be in the unified search/url bar. The text in that bar remains highlighted after I have hit enter (to search) and thus "Tab" shifts the highlighting to each of my bookmarks before getting to the search results. (If the text is unhighlighted, the blue arrow appears as it did in Safari 5.)
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

It also happens when I put the \ and immediately press the spacebar... but if I copy the backslash with a space from Text Edit and paste it into the search bar, it doesn't crash when I press enter...
hehe, I'll quite playing with this as I may be messing something up on the computer

I did send a photo as an attachment and had trouble sending it, and since then all these 2 blue arrows appeared on all my files whether they be photos or just files that have been saved as a pdf.  I am not that computer au fait, so would appreciate any help
    Many thanks

A screenshot of these "blue arrows" would be helpful; see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933

What you can try to do is to update the BIOS from Version 0507  to 0603  and maybe this helps. But you should run a memory test from manufacturer.

i was using chrome 'cause i liked the artwork - the way it looked - silly but true - as it kept crashing i switched to firefox a couple of hours ago - i watched the video and read the info and everything and i was happy to see firefox has changed its looks - but no matter what theme or persona i've tried i still get the blue line on top like the old one - looks nothing like the pics you use in the personalize section... please help because i really dislike this look

The orange Firefox button shows by default only in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
You can turn the Firefox button on in XP:
*Menu Bar checked = Menu Bar on, Firefox button off
*Menu Bar un-checked = Menu Bar off, Firefox button on
*Turn Menu Bar on/off, click Menu Bar to check/un-check by doing one of the following:
**using the Menu Bar: View > Toolbars
**using Firefox button: Firefox button > Options > Toolbar Layout
**right-click an empty space (at the end of the tab bar)
**this toggles (automatically checks/un-checks) Menu Bar: HOLD down the ALT key while pressing the keyboard letters VTM

  • Can anyone help me solve the problem of text displaying very rough on my new ASUS PA279Q display monitor running off my MacBook Pro?

This is regarding a brand new ASUS PA 279Q, 2560 x 1440 IPS monitor. I'm connected via mini display port (into thunderbolt port on MacBook Pro) to display port on ASUS monitor; using cable ASUS included with the monitor. Mid 2012 MacBook Pro…full specs at bottom of this post.
I have resolution set at 2560 x 1440 which is the native resolution according to the ASUS spec. I tried the other resolutions available in my System Preferences and text displayed rough with those settings too. I've tried adjusting contrast, brightness and sharpness via the ASUS control panel and didn't solve the problem. Also tried calibrating via Mac's system preferences/display and that did not improve text display either. All the text on this monitor (no matter what software I launch, Finder, InDesign, Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, VMWare Windows XP, Windows versions of Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc, all are consistently rendering text the same way ---  ROUGH and with "HALOS" around each letter.
All point sizes of text and at various scales, display very rough on the screen. (My comparison is the retina display of my MBP and a Thunderbolt…so those two displays are my expectations.) I'm using the same MBP for both a Thunderbolt display (at work) and this ASUS at my home office.
On the ASUS it's not as noticeable when the text is on white backgrounds, but I'm a graphic designer and compose images with text all day everyday. Not to mention the specs on this ASUS PA279Q indicate it's built for the professional so I would expect better text rendering. I haven't even addressed color calibration and balance yet, because that won't matter to me if the text won't display any better than it is now.
I was so hopeful after researching all the specs on this monitor it would be a viable alternative to the glossy display of the Thunderbolt display. (Which, I do love the Thunderbolt display for it's clarity and how it displays crisp, clean text at all sizes. (This ASUS actually displays text decently if I increase the text so each letter is about 4" high. Which is pointless for practical purposes -- that'd be like doing page layout through a microscope!)
I kept holding off on getting a monitor for the home office thinking the Thunderbolt would be updated soon. I'd be sick if I dropped a grand on piece of 2011 technology only to learn a few days later an updated Thunderbolt display hit the market! Not to mention, I'm praying Apple comes out with a less reflective Thunderbolt display. The glare and reflection is the main reason I looked elsewhere for a large monitor; hence my asking for help. Hoping the ASUS text display issue can be worked out. My expectation is for it to display like the MBP retina and Thunderbolt display text. That possible?
Alternatively, I guess I could do the Apple Refurb Thunderbolt at $799. And see if there's a decent aftermarket anti-glare I could stick on it?
Thanks for reading my post. Hope someone can help; offer any suggestions? Words or wisdom?
Has anyone else had similar issues and figured out a resolution? Help!
    MacBook Pro
    Retina, Mid 2012, 2.3 Ghz Intel i7
    8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    OS X 10.8.5

    ASUS PA279Q

I uninstalled those two items. It still runs slow on start-up and when opening safari, firefox, iphoto, itunes, etc. It's not snappy like it used to be. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Hello, my sister her macbook pro cannot connect to our wireless internet. My imac however can, so the problem has to do with her laptop. We were wondering how we could solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance!

We did that, but it just doesn't seem to be able to connect. So basically we tried to connect to our network and insert the password, but afterwards it does nothing. Weird thing is also that the network symbol (top right of the screen) says that it has been connected, but when I go look at the system preferences --> network, it states that it has not been connected

  • THE ONE WHO SOLVES THIS PROBLEM IS GREAT!

I'm serious. I am so fed up I am with this problem. Ground rules: you must NOT just give me code. I need to be able to know why my problem is happening, and how to fix it myself. I'm a grad student and am bound by a code of conduct. I don't have any more time to spend investigating this. It could be something simple or complex...I am at a loss.
Here is the situation: I'm developing this console java application on my Windows PC. When I run it on my pc, it runs in under a minute. However, when I transfer my program to the servers at my school (sun unix workstations) it takes a ridiculous amount of time to run the same program. I am told that 80% of the students in my class have their programs running in less than 5 minutes. Almost all of them didn't have to do any kind of optimizations. They just wrote it, and it worked. My program is averaging 10-15 min, but my prof runs it locally at school, and says it takes 40 min!
The entire program is posted below. Please forgive me for not commenting so great. They were better at first, but when I started moving things around and changing everything, I threw comments out the window. Still, the existing comments should be helpful in understanding what I'm doing. NOTE: Below the code is the DTD that all the .xml files I'm parsing conforms to. Here are a few links to .xml files that represent part of the dataset. The actual dataset consists of 40 files totaling 30MB.

    the dtd is at:

    And here is the code:

REMEMBER: Please do not just post the correct code. This will violate my code of conduct. I need tutoring--consultation.

If I was trying to get someone else to do my work,
I wouldn't be posting this saying what I have said
would I? I'm not unwilling to do the work myself. From what was stated in your OP, it seemed that you
were.I'm sorry if it seemed that way. I don't want something for nothing. I've spent MANY hours, which I don't have, trying to work this out. I have hit a point where I don't think my expertise is going to solve the problem. That's why I've turned to some experts who might say something along the lines of, "Hey, I know what that is...you're compiling against... and on the Unix box, it's compiling against..." I was NOT looking for something like, "See the code below that fixes your problem."
The only problem is that I don't have direct access
to the sun unix machines I'm running the app on,
so I can't run a profiler on it. Ah, okay. So the only knowledge you have of how it
performs on those machines is from your instructor
running it and then telling you how long it took? No. I can SSH into the servers and run the program from a command line. But I wouldn't be able to install any profiler programs.
You could ask your prof to run it with -Xprof or
-Xhprof or whatever. Or you could put in a bunch of
timing statements to get a rough idea of which parts
are making it take that extra 39 minute or whatever.is -Xprof a java command line option? If so, I will look into doing that. Maybe it's available on the machines at school. Thanks for that input.

I recently upgraded my Itunes softeware, now itunes will not recognize my IPod Classic. If I delete the current IPod software and reinstall it, would this solve the problem, and if so, I'll need step by step instruction.

    Yep.

It appears that SANmp is indeed the most likely source of your problem.

    Dear Dan,
It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
So what I did was tested and worked for years.
You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader.
