Did you assign the signature to the e-mail address you are using? Mail/Preferences/Signatures - select the account and use the + to add the signature to that account.

My MBA Maverick 10.9.4 behave strangely last night ,
when I want to transfer some file to VLC ( iOS 7.1.2 ) using iTunes file sharing , I cannot choose specific file e.g. a movie from a folder , but it copy all the movies in the folder to my iPad 7.1.2 .
I tried again with iPhone 5s 7.1.2 and iPod Touch 6.1.4 but also failed .
Reboot the Mac also failed .
iPhoto and ifunbox also face the same problem..

I want to send email from linux box and in the body of the email i want to have the content of dblog.txt file.
I want dglob.txt file content to be part of the mail body.

When i choose a file to attach it, it will only create a complete image?e on a new email. It wont do an attachment format.

I am having problems with attaching a scanned document. When i choose it from my desktop, where I have saved it, it will not go on to a new email in attachement format , but only as a complete image. I use mac mail.

All one page attachments are displayed fully. More than one page they will appear as an attachement. However, the recipient will only see an attachment regardless. Stop worrrying.

Hi for a few months my shift key stopped allowing me to select blocks of files and worked like the cmd key selecting just individual files. Apple store sold me a. New keyboard when I connected it first time it worked. But after shutting down mac it never worked again. Have just performed clean install of new mavericks as I was told it must be the permissions or other account settings etc. But 2 days later after lots of work shift still doesn't work. Every now and then it would work once and then. Not again. I work with photos a lot and only being able to choose individual files is a nightmare. Can anyone explain this problem.?

I installed mavericks from a USB and reformatted the hd. I set up a new user account added email, apple ID etc and then downloaded new iPhoto and iMovie. I manually copied documents, music inc itunes library folder and photos from time machine back up. I also copied original apps only using migration assistant to get idvd and garageband back as despite a lot of searching i couldnt find a way to selectively reinstall original apps not purchased from app store. Only third party apps are photoshop elements 9 and office 2011.

Can't find file to attach - still

I'm having what appears to be a fairly common problem with my Mail app, but I haven't seen a solution listed, other than some workarounds. Specifically, I can create a new doc and save it to a folder on my desktop, for instance; but if I then open Mail and ask it to attach the new file, it will not display the new file in its search window. I can open the file on my hd and see the doc, but Mail won't display it. Sometimes, if I close Mail and reopen it will find it, but not always. And yes, I can drag the doc into the mail window to attach it....but is that the only solution??
I know this is a common problem of long duration - the problem was discussed a while ago in this forum (see:Mail can't see recent files to attach)
and also there's a very current discussion of the same problem in Tiger, in the Mail:Tiger discussion, under the topic: Finding Attachments.
Lots of reports of the same thing. Did I miss the solution/explanation? Is there one?

Thanks much. I do know about the drag and drop method, and use it most of the time. Just thought that if there's a feature available in an app, it should probably work.
However, you can also go up to the
FILE icon and choose attach file , the bad thing
there is you have to navigate through files and
folders to find the file to attach.
I also find if you have created a folder and placed
the file in the folder my expieriance has been that
you have to first remove the file from the folder if
you want to attach it, I don't think you can attach a
folder.
As far as navigating through files and folders - it's pretty much part of the everyday working life with a computer, isn't it? and so doesn't seem like a nuisance to me. And yes, you can attach a folder.
There is one other thing, Not all formats are
recognizable by all Mail Programs. Example: If you
have Microsoft Word for Mac and you copy a Word doc
and you send it to another user without word
sometimes this can cause an issue. This is only one
of several Formats that I am aware of that can cause
problems. Either you can't open them or you cant read
them.

You can send anything you want; if the recipient can't open it, it's a problem for him, but it doesn't prevent you from sending it. And frequently you can open a doc in another app if you don't have the app it was created in: TextEdit will open Word docs, if necessary, and Preview can open image files and pdfs if you don't have, Pshop or Reader.
Anyhow, thanks for the info, guys. Back to drag & drop.

Pages: Cant open file as Attachment

I recently downloaded the new version of Pages. I can create documents on my MacBook Pro, close them and then re open them on my machine. However if I attach them in an e-mail I cannot open them from that attachment on my computer nor can the people I am sending the attachment to. The recipients have Pages as well. I recieve the following error prompt.
“Test Pages (1).pages” can’t be opened.

The new Pages 5 uses an oddball compressed bundle that gets screwed up on most servers other than Apple's own iCloud.
It is incompatible with GMail, Amazon, Dropbox etc.
Apple in its infinite wisdom has created new files which have exactly the same file extension as all the other .pages files whilst being totally incompatible with everything else.
Apple has also stripped off over 90 features and made many of the others buggy.
You should still have your old Pages in your Applications/iWork folder.
Best to trash/archive Pages 5 after Exporting any Pages files to Pages '09, then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

This is becoming incredibly frustrating. It happens at random time and a restart of the computer is all that helps, then with out any notice it starts to do this again. Mac Book Pro i7 2.2 16 GB 1333 Ram, (2) 450GB SSD both internal to machine. At this point I am losing file because I am unable to save in the file type I need. Does anyone out there know how to solve this issue?

I haven't been unify photoshop much in the past month, but I did try your suggestion and it seemed to work for a while. Today when i went to save a document the same thing happened: click on file>save at this point I can not click on save even though it is highlighted. Tryed to use command s that brings up the save dialogue box, but when I try to change file type I again cannot select it from the drop down menu.

Outlook 2010 - sending mail with attachment - "The system cannot find the file specified"

I have the following failure scenario:
1. A user receives an e-mail with an attachment.
2. The user opens the attachment --> Forwards the mail and writes something in the body of the e-mail
3. For whatever reason the user leaves the e-mail and works on something else --> the user comes back to the e-mail an hour or more later.
4. The user then wants to send the e-mail but gets the following error message: "The system cannot find the file specified"
5. The effect is that the user cannot send the e-mail.....
------------------------------ TROUBLESHOOTING -----------------------
- I can see that when the user opens an attachment this attachment is saved in the OutlookTemp folder. Actually, there is a difference between opening the attachment before or after clicking forward on the e-mail.
---- Before: Two files is written to the OutlookTemp folder. For example if the attachment name is FileX.pdf - there will be a FileX.pdf but also a FileX (2).pdf in the folder (if OutlookTemp is empty/do not contain a file with the name FileX.pdf already)
---- After: Only one file is written to OutlookTemp. That is FileX.pdf
- Running Process Monitor when trying to forward the e-mail I can see that Outlook is calling a file that is not in the OutlookTemp folder anymore.
**** To me this is the heart of the issue. For some reason, when a user has an e-mail with an attachment open for an extended period of time (not sure on exactly how long is necessary), files in the OutlookTemp folder is deleted - files that Outlook is depending
on to be there.
- Going with a totally clean OutlookTemp folder does not help.

- The question now is: Is this by design? Can it be fixed by some Outlook 2010 patch? Or perhaps a group policy/registry setting as a workaround.

Hello Red Baron,
Although not a complete answer, the way to treat attachments in emails require some discipline:
1. Never open an attachment directly from the email (and NEVER edit it from there). Always save it in a known location as the desktop or (better) in a designated document folder. Then you can proceed as usual, like editing the contents, printing, forwarding
the new version etc.
2. Directly forwarding the attachment is ok, along with additional text in the body of the email.
3. Having any (unsaved) document open for several hours should
never occur. What if there is a power outage?
Bottom line is thus Discipline. This is regardless of Operating System (which might handle temporary files differently).
These are the rules I teach my customers and they never leave any document unsaved for hours ...

That choice is not made by Adobe, but your browser, of which you give no details. 64-bit browsers cannot open PDF files, as the Adobe Reader plugin is a 32-bit app.

I can confirm that this happens +only when in Edit mode+.
It works exactly as it should in Organisation mode.
I'm not sure it's a bug. It strikes me as intentional. After all I can't drag anything to another Album (i.e Organise) when I'm in edit mode.
I don't recall this being a feature of iPhoto 08.

With Upgraded 9.3 cannot find photo file

Just upgraded to iPhoto 9.3 and had the photo file automatically upgraded. I can open the app with the iPhoto icon. But I cannot find the photo file. And cannot do either from another computer on my network. All that shows is the app icon. Where are the photos now?

Where they always were - in the iPhoto Library. The .3 update changed nothing in that respect.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
