In mail, screen is frozen

An open email is frozen on the screen, cannot delete nor open any other email

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

You said that you keep getting the error code 1604. Did you try putting the iPad into recovery mode and when the error code appears - close iTunes and restart iTunes while the iPad is connected to your PC?
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

What to do if the screen is stuck on the draft screen? I was writing a mail, saved it as draft, then later, was able to send it. However, the screen did not revert to the inbox page. The draft page seems to be hung or stucked. Safari and all others are working ok though.

I sent the draft to myself several times. That did not seem to be working, but when I opened Mail this morning, it has been sent all of the times and the Mail screen is no longer frozen.

  • Email screen is frozen how to fix

EEmail screen is frozen how to fix

    Hi Reb
I have 2 clients with the exact same problem. Since the iOS update 8.0 their mail apps launch run for a while then kick off to a black blank screen and crashes the mail app, this brings them back to their desktop.
I have done everything from factory restores to changing their mail account types from IMAP/POP/Exchange MAPI this does not solve the problem. We have taken it in to our nearest iStore and they have stated that nothing can be done and that we should hope that the next iOS update fixes the issue. I believe its an OS bug crashing the iOS mail app. I hope APPLE team look into this as if there is no fix on the next update i am going to recommend my clients revert to an older version of iOS and you know what an ordeal that is and what all that requires.
I will keep you posted on my findings but in the meantime i don't think anything can be done.
    Regards Rob

  • My iPod shows emails but the screen seems frozen

My iPod will not allow me to open emails or delete them. The screen seems frozen and touching it to open an email, edit etc., does nothing at all. I use my iPad to access emails and this activity is picked up on the iPod, but If I tap on an email to open it, nothing happens at all. Mail works okay as do other functions. Any suggestions greatly received.
    Thank you
    Tony Brockett

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Mail and turn off and then back on the accounts
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Email screen is frozen

My email screen is frozen on one page no new emails are showing

One solution for you: First, open your Mail, then without exiting, hold down the sleep button till the slider appears. Then hold down the home button, till you are brought back to the home screen.
Use this method to force close whatever application that are causing you problems. The force-closed app will reset all information, and load them up again.
Alternatively, connect your iPad to the comput er and let it sync with iTunes. I did it to mine, and it solved some issues.

  • Mail box has frozen on contacts can anyone advise??

Mail box has frozen in new contact screen can anyone advise.

    From the users guide:
Force an app to close: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then hold down the Home button until the app quits.
You can also remove an app from the recents list to force it to close. See Opening and switching between apps on page 17.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
