In NEED of a new battery, but I do need help.

I have the old macbook Pro, 15-inch, the all silver one, not the one with the black keys/border. Anyways, I know I need a new battery because when I take it off the charger, it dies within 30+ seconds. I was just wondering which battery I should get. I prefer one from a legit website. I'm not sure if the new macbook pro's work on my mac? I'm a noob with apple, so I am not too sure. I got this computer from my brother.
My battery's model number says (A1175), but the battery's I see on apple.com are MA348LL/A.
Post links if you can. Thank you very much.

I'd go with something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/A1150-A1175-MA348LL-Replacement-Lithium-Polymer/dp/B003DXF JY8/ref=sr18?ie=UTF8&qid=1293587521&sr=8-8
There are cheaper ones on the site but some are aftermarket or really old.

Bring it in for service.  Anytime hardware test detects an error, that's an indication the service department needs to fix it.

It sounds very very much like the battery. You will need to have it replaced. If you put the failing one in yourself you will need to pay as your Warranty is now void.

If your computer is running an OS X prior to Snow Leopard 10.6,
the answer (if it is an Intel-based Mac; not old PowerPC model)
would be to buy the retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD from Apple
for about $20, and install it. Then update that to 10.6.8 by using
the installed Snow Leopard online to get Combo Update v1.1 for
Snow Leopard 10.6.8. After that is installed & updated, run the
system's Software Update again, to see what else is available to
    that system.
Later systems can then be looked into at Mac App Store, once
the computer is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
And if your computer is a Power PC (G4/G5, etc) and has no
Core2Duo kind of CPU -- See "About this Mac" in apple menu
to disclose the general info about your Mac. Also you can see
even more by clicking on "More Info" when looking in there...
If it isn't an Intel-based Mac, it can't run a system past 10.5.8.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Good luck & happy computing!

I have a late 2008 Macbook pro and just bought a new battery, but it is not holding a charge.  I read it may be the charger,

    Anything I can try?

Bring it back to the Apple store with your MBP and charger.  If the battery is found to be defective, they should provide you with a replacement (assuming you are in the warranty period).
    Ciao.

    Advice:
    1. Learn to use punctuation and sentence structure - your post makes little sense.
    2. I'm getting the idea you now want to use your old "useless" battery.  Why, if it's useless?

  • New battery, but still problems

so i posted a topic about a week ago titled "CRAZY ICON-ness"... well, to remedy the battery-caution problem, i baught a new battery. i put it in my mini and then left it charging on with a wall charger while i went out of town.
i just got back today and it's still doing the same thing: it has the battery-caution icon for about five seconds, then goes blank for a split second, then repeats this.
does anyone know what the problem is?

  • Installed new battery, but macbook still shuts off

So I just installed a new battery in my macbook pro after the last one  died after about 800 cycles.  Before it died I could still use it with  the AC cord plugged in, but if unplugged the computer would turn off.  After I installed the new battery i'm still having the same problems.
I don't understand what's happening because when I check the battery  status it says it's fully charged with a cycle count of 74 and the  battery condition is normal.
When the AC cord is unplugged the macbook will shut off, sometimes  when i plug it back in it will start right back where I left it prior to  unplugging it, but other times it will just do a full restart. When I  press the battery indicator (unplugged) to check the battery life  nothing happens.
I've already tried resetting the SMC, although I'm not sure if i'm  doing it right, because the light on the AC cord doesn't change when I  hold shift+ctrl+option+power. If anyone could help me out It'd be  greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I suspect that eBay battery was very inexpensive.  There are many tales of woe on these forums of users who have purchase third party batteries for their MBPs and have found them wanting.  The vendor will tell you that the battery is a 'genuine replacement' battery, but in fact it is not.
The appropriate solution is to have a replacement battery installed by Apple which will have a warranty.
    Ciao.

  • I've bought a new charger and a new battery but my laptop still won't charger?!

    HP G61-429WM Serial: CNF011DKGV Product: WA961UA#ABA CT: 6AFPE03SAYO421 484170-001
This laptop is about three years old. It started not taking the charge less than a year ago so I bought a new charger (Reltrak) charger. That did not seem to solve the problem and eventually it still would not charger. I then assumed the battery must have simply died so I bought a new battery. It took the charge for a day but now it will not charge. I do not know what could be the problem. The laptop is good. It runs great when it's actually charger. Do you think it could be an internal problem? Any ideas?

  • Installed a new battery but there is a black X on the battery icon

My battery my Early 2011 MacBook Pro was expanding so I bought a new battery and replaced it myself.
I turned my MacBook Pro on and it works, but there is a black X on the battery icon. When I check the battery information on the System Profiler, it says there is no battery installed, BUT, when I press ALT and click on the battery icon in the top right corner, it says "Condition: Normal".
Can someone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix this?

Thank you BUT this would be for a completely different Mac. My MacBook Pro is the type where there is no removable battery on the outside. I had to open mine up to change the battery.
I bought the new battery on eBay and am going to get it resolved with the seller, and if he doesn't refund me or replace it, then I will claim the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
Hopefully someone has advice for me still.

  • New battery, but problem unsolved!

I'm befuddled by this. I have a G4 titanium powerbook, bought in June of 2003. Out of ignorance, I rarely refreshed the battery for the first year, and left it running on AC. Live and learn. At any rate, lately the battery would suddenly quit at about 85%. Then, when recharging, it would jump from about 15% to 100%. I tested it with iBatt, and it said this:
    Capacity 3.962 Ah
    Voltage 16.498 v
    Grade B+
Strange. I tried resetting the PMU, to no avail. I finally figured the battery had served me long enough (2.5 years) and took it into the Apple Store and had the battery replaced. But the new battery did virtually the same thing! When I put it into the powerbook, it was at 75%. It went to about 58%, then quit. I tested this new batter with iBatt, and got virtually the same results:
    Capacity 4.149 Ah
    Voltage 15.928 v
    Grade: B+
Can anyone out there enlighten me?
    Michael

  • New battery but couldn't work & Mac can be suddenly shut down even plugged in

    Hello everyone,
I just received a so called new genuie battery for my macbook 13'' , 2008 aluminum. But mac couldn't start if only with the battery. When I plug in the charger, there shows green light, so whcih means it doesn't charge the battery at all. In addition, I have to press the start bottom for a while,  in order to start the computer. By  press normally, I can hear some noise seems like from hardware, but nothing happens then. It is the same sound as, when only electricity connects to mac but without battery, my mac suddenly become black screen (shut down without any notification).
Does anyone know what's problem with my mac or the new battery or both?
I really appriciate if anyone can help me with the problem bother me a lot!
    Thank you.

  • Brand-spanking new battery, but still shuts down when unplugged!!

A few days ago, my 2006 MacBook would shut down when I disconnect it from the power adapter. To restart the laptop, I must have the power adapter connected. That gray screen with the apple stays longer than usual, ~5 seconds. I reset the SMC, PRAM, and checked the battery condition in the System Profiler. It had 500 charge cycles, so I went ahead and bought a new battery.
PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED. Even with a brand new, fully charged battery, the laptop shuts down when I disconnect the power adapter. I used my boyfriend's adapter to charge the battery and the issue persists. I did the whole resetting stuff, no luck. Battery is on charge cycle 2 and in normal condition. I'm up to date on software updates.
Anybody know what is going on and how to resolve this??? Please help!

Okay, and you've done the various resets, so the next things that come to mind are:
    1) Bad DC-in board, which is the Magsafe Board in the newer machines. Instructions for replacement are here(you can also order parts & tools): http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-MacBook-Core-2-Duo-Magsafe-Board/5 20/1. Obviously, if your machine is in warranty, have the Apple store fix the computer.
    2) Faulty logicboard. If this is the case, you want to just work with the computer as-is, or sell it and invest the money in a new machine.

  • Transferring number to new property but don't need...

Can anyone advise please.  We have a second line which we want to take with us to our new house, but we don't want to activate until we have our home office studio set up in the garden.  This will be approx 6 weeks after we move in.  Do we ask the BT engineer to install the second line anyway (presumably this is cheaper than stopping completely and starting again), but leave the cable at the house, to be extended to the home office at the bottom of the garden in due course?

I would move them both together and can get the second line terminated in the house, on a separate box, then run your own external extension to the garden, when you are ready.
This would be done by connecting it to the front removable part of the master socket.
It would probably cheaper that way as there would be no external work for Openreach to do.
It would also allow you to test the line from the house, before you connect it up to the studio, and also isolate it, should a fault occur in the external extension.
