In need of guidance for website ad

I am in the process of making a website and I have everything done and ready to go. I had it reviewed and am being asked to put in a ad on the home page. The website I was shown is http://www.dog.com/. On the top of this site is a flash ad but the problem is I have no idea how to make this, what adobe program to use in making it, and what needs to be done to get it onto the site. Please! some type of guidance on this would be greatly helpful. I own the Adobe CS5 Master suite so I know I have the software to do it just don't know where to begin.
Thanks for the help in advanced

Flash is not supported by all web devices (iPhone/iPad/iTouch).  Also Flash content isn't visible to screen readers, search engines or robot language translators.  So if you use Flash Pro to create your slideshow, you also need to provide alternative HTML content for non-flash supporting devices.   Do a Google search for SWF Object Replacement Script.
All that said, you could use an Ajax or jQuery content slider to achieve the same thing without penalty to non-flash supporting devices.
Log-in to Adobe Widget Exchange with your Widget Browser and grab the Spry Content Slides.

Now how to configure the multipath and how to use this allocated space.
    Kindly guide me.
    Thanks,
    Muthu

Linux DM multipath determines whether or not discovered devices are individual devices or whether they are separate paths to one and the same device. This is accomplished by querying the device serial number. To install and configure multipath, please see the DM Multipath Guide available for your OS version installed: https://linux.oracle.com/documentation/.
If you need more help and examples, check the following thread: multipath -ll command doesn't give any output
I'm afraid no one can answer your question how to partition and mount your storage space without you giving any information about its purpose.

  • Need advice/guidance on how to export .FLV videos for my website.

    Can anyone help me?
I am trying to embbed a .swf/.flv video into my website,
using dreamweaver and flash cs4. But when i do so, and i load the
video, the .FLV playback componet wont load or the browser dosent
even try to load the data at all, it just plays the video. So users
cant mute, have volum control, pause, stop or anything. Can someone
please help me? i looked all over the net for 2 days and cant find
a single turtorial or anything. I know alot of website use .FLV but
how? and how do you export it?

You need three parts for the flv playback: the swf, the flv,
and the video player skin swf. If you create the flv from your
Flash movie by importing the original video, Flash should make all
of those parts for you. Upload each of these files to your server
and the file should play as expected.
Can you describe in more detail what you are doing that may
    be different?

Where is the link that says you need a 32 bit processor?  On my MBA, in the past I've ran both Office for Mac and Windows 7 (MS Office) via Parallels (Bootcamp does the same thing).  I chose installing Windows 7 in the 32 bit mode ONLY because I have a couple of other legacy Windows programs that only run in 32 bit mode.

  • Compression tecniques for website use urgently needed

    Hi there
I am creating short movies (about 2-5 mins) in Imovie HD and i want them to be downloadable from my website as a file (not streamed etc). I want the picture quality to be very good but the sound can be mono as its not as important. I need to keep file sizes to about 20mb or less. I am told that 320 x 240 is the size to go for websites - is that true?
My problem is that both PC and Mac users will be wanting to download the movies so compatability is very important. What file type should i go for (mpg, mov, avi, wmv) and what compression should i choose for the best cross platform compatability?
If anyone can help, i would be so grateful. If anyone has any good settings that they have tried and tested - that would be fantastic.
    Many, many thanks
    Daniel

I would create .mov ..that's to say QuickTime.. files: every Mac user has QuickTime on their machine, and Windows users often already have it, or can be guided to simply download it.
I've tried an assortment of compression codecs, and have found that a 'hardwired' codec-in-a-chip, rather than using software to compress, gives the fastest and sharpest results. So I run my mini-movies through an Archos recorder/player (..predecessor of the video iPod..) which encodes all incoming video in DivX format.
This plays great in QuickTime, except for the sound, which is - by default - hidden. So I run the resultant small video file through a little free program called 'DivX Validator', which resets the sound to the proper QuickTime format.
I then post that 'validated' compressed file on the web (..on my Homepage..) and it's playable by all versions of QuickTime, both old and new. [NOTE that only the latest QuickTime 7 seems to be able to play back videos encoded through the recent QT 7 H.264 hi-quality codec ..but DivX looks just as good, and can be played in any QT versions.]
Here's what a DivX-encoded movie looks like.. [This is a still slideshow burned to a DVD ..when it starts.. not moving video, and DivX really does justice to the hi-quality stills. And as DivX produced a small file size, it can be downloaded quickly!]
Other people will probably have other recommendations..

  • Need antispam script for my website guestbook entries... recommendations?

My guestbook on my website got so slammed by spambots that i had to take it offline. I would like to get one of those scripts where the person has to fill in what they see in a box (letters, numbers, etc) in order to make an entry into my guestbook. My web designers says that i need to find a script for this. Any recommendations? I don't even know what these scripts are called, making them hard to look for!
He does the website work in Dreamweaver in Tiger, if that makes any difference. This is a guestbook that forwards entries to me as emails (they are not diplayed on the site)

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do, you don't need a preloaded for embed movies.  The page will load without any delay.  It's not until the user chooses to play a movie will it begin downloading / streaming it from the server.  Even if the video is a large file, internet users are use to this type of scenario where they choose to play a movie, ala youtube and others, that if their connections are slow there may be delays in video playback.  With all that said, I have seen and used page loaders where visitors will be expecting to wait a while for a result to happen, I just don't think this scenario warrants it.

  • I need a preloader for my website

    Hi Experts.
Can someone point me to good tutorials and/or instruction videos that solve the following problem?
I am building a website that will have many images and several movies created in my CAD software as ".avi" files, then re-saved as Quicktime ".mov" files.  The largest movie is 60.8KB.  They will be located on more than one page on the site.
Here's a link to the site in progress: http://www.integra-living.com/rht
I need a preloader that runs automatically as my site splash page opens, and loads all that stuff while displaying a progress indicator of some sort.
I also need tips on whether the best strategy is to use CSS, Action Script, or some other coding that will work for most browsers and does not subvert optimization or do other mysterious bad things.
Thanks very much for any help.

  • Need guidance for setting up distribution list

I have OD setup, I have Mailing Lists setup for groups such as IT, Marketing, etc.
The only thing I have not quite figured out is setting up distribution lists for outside senders that can be distributed to LDAP users in OD. I have been searching the forums and have found bits and pieces of data, but cannot yet locate any guidance for getting this setup.
I thought that this would be handled in the /etc/aliases file, but it appears that this only applies to local users.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.

I understand that more than 15,000 photos in a catalogue will degrade Lightroom's  performance
100% incorrect false misleading don't listen to this nonsense, people in this and other forums have over 1/4 million photos in a single catalog
I am concerned that several catalogues will be confusing about which catalogue a specific image is in.
    Very smart!
What guidance can someone suggest for creating and organizing multiple catalogues?
Use a single catalog, and move towards keyword/caption/metadata organizing rather than folder-based organizing (as much as can practically be done given the time constraints in your life)

  • I NEED ADOBE SERVICE FOR A REFUND -- TONIGHT

I'm ready to scream -- I was supposed to be transferred to the department for a refund and instead it timed out and ended my chat:
The chat line is: (EMPHASIS ON THE RED FONT AREAS -- I NEED TO CANCEL DREAMWEAVER CS6 (AS I WAS ASSURED I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM DOING) AND GET A REFUND -- I JUST PURCHASED DREAMWEAVER CC.
One moment please while we route your chat to a representative.
All representatives are currently assisting others. Thanks for your patience. A representative will be with you shortly.
Thank you for contacting Adobe Sales. My name is Gavin. How may I help you today?
Gavin: Hi, may I have your first name please?
you: Hi, my name is Barry.  I spoke with your chat line the other night, the night I purchased CS6.  I was on the fence, do I want CS6 (for about $400) or CC (with the ongoing $20 a month fee).  I was told that if I wanted to cancel CS6 and move to CC, it would be OK, since I had only installed CS6 and had not used it yet.  And that I could get the refund for CS6 and install CC at the same time.  At the moment, my purchase from Best Buys had not registered in your system, but I'm sure it has now.  SO THE QUESTION AGAIN -- could you discuss with me the pros and cons of CS6 vs. CC -- I have heard that I will not be able to update/upgrade CS6, that it is close-ended, and that CC will be a constant addition of latest features.  PLEASE ELUCIDATE ME ON WHICH PROGRAM I (A NEOPHYTE WHO JUST PAID SOMEONE TO BUILD ME A WEBSITE) MIGHT WANT TO USE.
    Gavin: Hello Barry
Gavin: Let me explain that for you.
you: Hi, -- can you read my lengthy question and provide me your insights, CS6 or CS CC?  Thanks, Gavin - I might have spoken with you the other night even.
Gavin: No, its with other representative.
Gavin: Adobe Creative Cloud is our newest option for you, That will give you everything , plus the ability to sync and store your files
Gavin: If you purchase the software outright at once then you'll be paying the upgrade cost when new version releases but that is not the case when subscribed to Creative Cloud membership since you get free upgrades to future version and will remain current with the latest software tools.
you: Is there some comparison sheet which would lay out the features and benefits of the two programs, side by side, for an educated decision?  I was told that CS6 if purchased outright is NOT UPGRADABLE -- wouldn't that lean me toward DW CC instead, to stay current as features are added and tools too?  IF THAT IS THE CASE, PLEASE REFUND ME THE CS6 COST AND SIGN ME UP FOR THE DW CC PROGRAM INSTEAD.  I was told you could transfer me to the folks in your place who could make this happen -- but I NEED IT DONE TONIGHT!  My website developer is coming tomorrow and needs an installed program to train me on.
    Gavin: We are connected, right?
you: sorry, it took time to frame my question
    Gavin: That's okay.
Gavin: Barry, I see that going forward all new versions will be through creative cloud membership.
Gavin: I'll help you with the cancellation for your CS6 purchase made once you complete the sign up for Dreamweaver CC, Okay
you: SO, HELP ME TO A DECISION, GAVIN.  What do I do?  Get the monthly fee program and turn in the CS6 for a refund?  HELP
you: Lead the way -- BUT.... AND IT'S A BIG "BUT" -- will it be installed and functioning TONIGHT so my guy can train me tomorrow?  PLEASE ANSWER THEN let's get this new sign up & cancellation into action.
Gavin: I see that there is no option to equalize the CS6 purchase for the CC subscription plan however you need to subscribe first and then will refund the CS6 purchase made.
Gavin: After subscribing to Dreamweaver CC you can download/ install the software immediately
    Gavin: Sounds great, right?
you: So you cannot help me -- what do I do?  How do I subscribe first, and how do I get the refund for CS6?  Please advise.  I'm ready to do it NOW!
Gavin: I'll help you now with the link to subscribe Dreamweaver CC and then help you to get the refund for CS6, Okay
you: fantastic -- I'm at your disposal
you: what do you need from me?
Gavin: Please click here to subscribe
Gavin: I'll stand by please let me know once your done.
you: one last question -- as I said, I'm new to this -- can I later upgrade to Creative Cloud's whole family by just increasing my monthly payment by the difference?  please advise.
    Gavin: Yes, that's possible.
Gavin: You can later switch or upgrade to complete creative cloud membership when you require other products.
you: great - I'm purchasing now and will let you know when it goes through
    Gavin: Sure
you: do I have to un-install CS6 first? PLEASE ADVISE - I'M STARTING TO DOWNLOAD AND DIDN'T THINK OF IT!!!!
    Gavin: Excellent!
Gavin: You can uninstall CS6 version once you complete the download for CC.
Gavin: Barry, please stay online while I transfer this chat to our Customer Service Team for more help on cancellation for your CS6 purchase made, Okay
you: I am online, and DW CC has extracted and is half-way through the next step
you: by the way, here's my proof of purchase--should I proceed through the entire installation and checking for upgrades.  Need I check for upgrades, or is this the latest version?
you:   We received your payment - thank you! Here are the details about that order for your records:   Order Details:    Creative Cloud single-app membership for Dreamweaver (one-year) $19.99 per month Order # AD010920985
    Gavin: Excellent!
Gavin: Please run the download to install, mean while you cancel the order for CS6 purchase made, Okay.
you: Ok - how do I cancel it?  Will you turn me over to that department to effect the cancellation?
Gavin: Yes, please stay online while I transfer this chat.
you: Dreamweaver CC is now installed.  Thanks for your help, Gavin.  I'm so nervous about this because I can't afford to screw it up and have my website guy come tomorrow and not be able to train me.
    Gavin: Not to worry!
Please wait while I transfer you to an operator at Adobe Service.

I am a new mac user and I switch to mac due to the graphics that it brings. I do website in pc and I heard iweb is the best.NOW i heard that iweb will be discontinue. so what is the best application there for website using MAC OSX lion?

It is now confirmed  that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
This might be of some interest to you at this time: Life After MobileMe.

Look at all the apdiv's you have.  Those are absolutely positioned layers.  I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS.  I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

  • Suggestions for website hosting os 10.9.4?

I need help with: selecting website hosting providers and/or webmail/email hosting provider; suggestions?
    I have:
1 mac-mini late 2012, i7 quad core 2.33 Ghz, 16GB RAM (yes, had RAM upgraded at MAC store before bringing it home) 750 GB hard drive, OS Mavericks 10.9.4 as my Primary desktop computer, with HDTV as monitor via HDMI cable. USB wireless wave keyboard (MAC's smaller bluetooth keyboards aggravate Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,), MAC optical/super-drive (aren't they the same thing?) via USB.  I've run it appx 18 months without issue except the mail app (I know; join the club).
MacBook Pro 13" Retina display, late 2013, i5 Intel 2.6 Gz processor, 512 GB flash drive, 8 GB RAM (2 x 4 GB RAM chips/card/white-thingies-whatchacall'ems), OS Mavericks 10.9.4. It's slow, but otherwise fine for most uses. Same MAC/Apple bluetooth 'magic' mouse used for both, sometimes trackpad on notebook. I use native notebook keyboard and just rest hands frequently.
    iPhone 5s iOS 7.1.
My problem: I originally set up my 5 gmail accounts on MAC-mini and iPhone per support page instructions. Ran 'connection doctor' more times than I care to count, and always came up saying setup was correct. I was unaware of problems until some eBay customers and family mentioned that I hadn't written them in weeks and that I was not responding to their emails.I went to my accounts on gmail server with Safari (7.0.6) and there were more than 100 emails in each inbox that hadn't made it to my mail app, and several 'sent emails' in both trash and inbox, but not 'sent' folder (the circling about of gmail many have mentioned before me).
I have set up NO EMAIL ACCOUNTS on MacBook Pro, not wanting to subject it, nor me, to google-mess. (bought it because I will be laid up with surgery on my old dancers'  feet for a few months and cannot use stairs (4-story house)
What I have done so far:
Prior to owning the MacBook Pro, I bought and downloaded 3 different mail apps which purported to handle gmail. All three had the same cycling and connection issues. (mail pilot most recent, will amend post when I find names of the other 2), They and were cumbersome, didn't interact with calendar and notes as purported, etc.
Then set up account at "fastmail.fm" per recommendation of one of the online MAC magazines exactly as directed on fastmail.fm. It worked on iPhone, but not on Mac Mini. Deleted it, closed account.
I researched website hosting to begin the learning/building/set-up process; makes sense while I am laid up (MacBook Pro 13" Retina by now) AND TO HAVE EMAIL ON DESKTOP. Settled on GoDaddy which has just refunded everything I spent on the site, because after weeks of effort, and trial with various hosting levels and domains, NOTHING WORKED. Used Adobe CC Muse and Dreamweaver to build sites. Both said they had uploaded on MacBook Pro, (used FTP app from App Store and then Muse built-in uploader) but while the proper file sizes (on Go Daddy) were bigger, no websites were visible "Something Cool Coming Soon" persisted.
Webmail accounts I set up (cPanel) on native MacBook Pro app with 2 different Go Daddy domain names failed. They worked for about 2 hours then simply stopped sending and receiving at all.
Many calls and online chats with Go Daddy support were non-productive.
Additional info: Makes sense to have website which I can grow into e-commerce site as I learn. I sell custom and restored Harley-Davidson motorcycles online and Vintage OEM Harley parts. Ebay is okay, but limiting. Wish to use own site separate from/in addition to eBay eventually. When I learn enough ..... yes I'm at novice to website building and management, only used Apple products about 2 years. Yet after decades of fighting with Windows-based PC's and Androids, I'm no stranger to computing, the web, and computers in general.
What I want: Can someone please suggest SOMETHING that JUST WORKS??!!
NOTE: I live in rural area so HughesNet satellite internet connection is my ONLY option (slow compared to fiber optics, but fasted Hughes offers -- maybe VZW 4G/LTE could be tried, but I'm under contract with Hughes. Cisco Linksey 2500 Router. I don't know if this is relevant or not.

Click the ≡ Menu Button in the top right, then the Preferences icon in the panel that opens. If that icon is missing,
    # Click the ≡ Menu Button in the top right.
    # Click Customize in the lower left.
    # Either drag the Preferences icon from the customization palette on the left onto the panel on the right, or click the Restore Defaults button.
If you somehow had Google Calendar integrated into Firefox, that feature was provided by an add-on.
