In need of some confirmation

I had verizon for 3-6 days back in feb, I wont drag a huge story but........... its may and I havent recieved the small portion of my deposit that was said to be returned when a special department looked it over. I guess Im asking if they actually ever return your money

Yes they do.  But sometimes they are slow and sometimes you need to nag them.  DO SO POLITELY and you will get the best result.

    Hello Albert3232,
It sounds like you cannot use either camera, nor the LED as a camera. I want to recommend a couple of things here.
First, close all the open and running apps on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • My iPod is up to a 4.1 ios, and it won't update to a 5.1 which I need for some of my apps for school. It keeps saying that my internet connection is bad; but, it works just fine. What do I need to do?

My iPod is up to a 4.1 ios, and it won't update to a 5.1 which I need for some of my apps for school. It keeps saying that my internet connection is bad; but, it works just fine. What do I need to do?

If you get a network timeout error, then disabling the computer's security software duirng the download and update usually resovles that error.
If that is not the error what is the wording of the error message.
Note that only a 3G or 4G iPod can go to iOS 5.  A 2G iPod can only go to iOS 4.2.1

  • Does anyone know if Apple has any plans to create an electronic medical records (EMR) program? And if not, who do I email to suggest just that as a new market in desperate need of some new innovation?

Does anyone know if Apple has any plans to create an electronic medical records (EMR) program? And if not, who do I email to suggest just that as a new market in desperate need of some new innovation?

There already are some tools in the App Store (eg. My Medical - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-medical/id347860026?mt=8).
If you mean something that would interact directly with a Hospitals main system or such, I don't know of any.  There are numerous companies now selling and setting up central records systems around the country, but I don't know of any that are working on companion patient tools yet.
Some charity and non-profit companies, like MedicAlert Foundation are working on such things and may have mobile apps on their radar, as funds allow them to develop such thing.  MedicAlert already offers an EMIR service online, but no standalone mobile app for it yet (you manage it via their web portal).
Epocrates (owned by Athena Health) might also have something in the works, or at least an interest in such a thing.

  • I have the latest Pages  5.2 and get a sign saying "INDEX.pages" can't be opened. I have need of some of the documents. What can i do?

I have the latest Pages  5.2 and get a sign saying "INDEX.pages" can't be opened. I have need of some of the documents. What can i do?

Probably you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open Pages 5.2 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.2 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened by newer Pages versions anywhere, is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 95 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewforum.php?f=22&sid=3527487677f0c 6fa05b6297cd00f8eb9&mforum=iworktipsntrick
Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • I am thinking of buying a iPad but my main desktop machine uses Windows 7 and MS Office.  How easy or difficult is it to transfer data files between the iPad and Windows?  Are there obvious problems or the need for some form of conversion programs?

    Many thanks for any advice.

You don't need conversion programs, iTunes can copy most of your content over to the iPad via the file sharing section, and some apps also support Dropbox, email attachments, transfer via your wifi network. There are a number of apps that you can get that support Microsoft office file (microsoft don't make an app versions of their software) e.g. from Apple there are Pages (word support), Numbers (excel) and Keynote (powerpoint), and from third-parties there are apps such as Documents To Go and QuickOffice HD

  • In need of some experienced and willing Mac help for a Macnewb, Please!=)

Hello & thank you for giving me some of your time & looking at my topic. I am very new to the Macworld & am having some unidentified issue(s) with a mid2010 MBP such as: firefox & Safari both frequently crashing & refusing to load pages, general system slowing and freezes, many force quits required for various (nonpattern) apps. After a brief visit to the Safari forum I decided to have another look at the console logs but came up short for crash logs that really coincided with the freuqunt issues occuring. A Sagitarius, I am never satisfied with the results unless they achieve what I intend them too, I continued to peruse the log, after all its only a log(right?) & I dont believe someone with basic, albeit limited, knowledge could screw up things via the logs but Ive been wrong, none the less , I did not touch(alter) anything. What I did come across in the "private/var/log:kernel.log" was something that even with my limited knowledge apears somewhat suspicious, enough that I believe it warented my first 'copy & paste for assistance purposes' , to date, despite having suffered through windowsWHATEVER for all my life prior to about 3 months ago. {{SOrry, I dont intend to be long winded but I acknowledge my tenancy to being overly throrough & my inability to leave out my personality as well. }}Thank you once again.
    Log as follows:
*This first section is for referrence purposes, all log prior is basically identical, with no appearaces from out of the ordinary items (such as those indicated below):

  • All I need is some one-on-one time!

    Hi All
No doubt you have all seen my posts lately.
I have been teaching myself Captivate for about 30 days
(using the free trial) and I love it and can see how it can help my
business. My husband and I own a 2-person newsletter service and
are wanting to offer products using Captivate to our customers.
Here's the problem. Going back and forth on the forum is
making be crazy!!! I'm such a visual person that I cannot even
order from a restaurant menu unless there are photos!
So what I need is someone to talk to me so I can talk back
and I can tell them what's going on in real time!
I have my movie done. All the pieces are in place. My problem
is I cannot figure out HOW to link them together.
I've read all the threads in every forum (literally) and
tried all the suggestions out out there. But nothing is working --
    I keep hitting a wall.
I don't need a tutorial to go through, I need someone who
will spend about an hour with me helping me "talk through" what the
final issues are with getting this done.
    Here's a quick overview:
I am making a New Member movie.
It has about 6 different sections with about 20-30 slides
    each.
So they need to be connected through click boxes or end of
    movie, etc.
I want to upload it to my website so customers can see what
it looks like first and then order it!
I like the way the stand alone looks and I like the fact that
when it's viewed, you don't see the web browser icons. I want the
customers to feel like they have a true CD in their hands, and not
    a web-based something or other.
So that's the version I want to give to ultimately give to my
    customers.
Yet I cannot get it to work. Even reading all the posts.
I don't want to sign up for a self-paced tutorial -- got the
basics. Need the tweaking. I don't want to sign up for a class, the
instructor will be trying to spend time with each student.
Is there some service I can call and pay for 1-2 hours worth
of time to just talk with me and help me through the final hurdle?
    Pam

    Hi Pam
Are you looking for a call this evening? I ask, because as
luck would have it, I have a free evening while my wife is
attending a church function. If you would prefer to work this way,
I'd be happy to speak with you directly. I could call you or you
could call me. If you are interested, pop me an E-Mail (I'd prefer
not to disclose my home number) and we can talk.

    Cheers... Rick :)

  • In need of some website design feedback (experts please)

Hey guys I've been designing and redesigning my personal website this is the 5th time I've basically done it over and started from scratch, I find it is very difficult to be objective when designing for myself, and I know that there are probably a number of you who have been doing graphic design far longer than I have (about 6 months), and I'd like to get your feedback, anything that is constructive criticism is appreciated. Just as a background my website is to show my music, select graphic design, and sound design projects I have done. "Future Someday" is what I put out electronic music as, and is somewhat of the largest section (a bit how Tycho designs as iso50, but both are equally important to his "brand"). So my site is futuresomeday.com . I'm designing in muse, here are some sites that look quite good from my perspective and I would like to create something comparable, though I don't need to have their exactl layout/ design style: bleed.com , Alex Goose , Kurppa Hosk , The Designers Republic™ , and Form: Design-led furniture, lighting and accessories for contract environments. . Thanks in advance.

  • In need of some help with awesome

So I got it installed, and I started editing everything, but what I can't seem to figure out, is how to add items to the root-esque "awesome-menu". I see the lines of code in rc.lua but from there I'm lost to say the least lol. The documentation on the site seems to be outdated as well; seeing as its not even in the same syntax, let alone the same language in all probability.
If somebody would be so kind as to post their menu setup, or at least give me a point in the right direction id be really thankful.

the way i figured it out was by examining other peoples rc.lua  (available at awesome wiki)
as an example i will show you mine..

  • I am in need of some serious help with my camera

I have a new computer and of course I was trying to put my camera (Live! Cam Video IM (VF0220) on this computer.
I do not have the disk for this camera so I went on the site and tried downloading the driver along with the application for the camera.
    None of these worked whatsoever.
I was up very late last night dealing with trying to find the right download for this camera to set it up on my computer and none of the drivers or applications that is on the site work for my computer.
Whenever I try and hook up my camera to the computer, it goes thru that found new hardware wizard thing and of course since I do not have the disk, I can't do this.
I have downloaded the drives and applications, restarted and restarted my computer several times over and NOTHING has gone right with showing that the thing is set up on my computer.
Now mind you, it shows in my computer that it is on there, but for some stupid reason, it doesnt want to show that my camera is on cause of course its not wanting or letting it download the camera on here.
Can someone tell me where can I find the RIGHT DOWNLOAD to hook up my camera so that I can stop looking on other site for the right one?
I mean cmon, it should have the right one for the camera that I have, but you guys dont seem to have it.
And please do not tell me to go to that support thing cause I have done that and it aint working whatsoever.
I have never had a problem with this company whatsoever with your cams much less your microphones cause they have all done me pretty good so far, but this is unbelievable how this is making me get so aggravated today.
All I need is one simple link to get the right download for my camera.
If anyone has this camera and does have the download to install it onto your computer, please feel free to share it with someone whose going thru a time with trying to get it on theirs.
    Thanks,
    PMYODB1

ok well dont uncheck the song just delete the song you dont want from your play list and the song your brother dosent want from his playlist so that if u delete it from the playlist you'll still have the song in the libary but the only time u uncheck and check the songs is when your updating songs onto your ipod and so and so....but still...just make sure for saftey you just delete the songs you dont like from your playlist not from the libabry and checking and unchecking is just temeraly distortion so make u only use it when ur updateing new songs on your ipod or iphone etc.

  • In Need of some advices

    Hi
I've got to build a small mailing module in an application which sends simple emails with attachements but I never used emails in Java.
I've looked around and found the org.apache.commons.email package. Unfortunately I could not find articles on it. I just want to know if it's good, stable and relatively bug free.
Also I would like to know if it is going to be a lot easier and faster to develop with this library VS using directly the javax.mail package.
    Thanks

using directly the javax.mail package.Probably. They have done a lot of the work that you would have to do. The only hitch would come if you needed some mail feature that they don't support. But if you did, it still might be easier to fix their code than to write your own code from scratch.

  • In need of some good artwork or: We need a logo and colors :)

    Hi people...
As you may have heard somewhere, we are currently developing a new liveCD based on Arch + KDE4, which will be released around the end of this year (or sooner or later, as our motto is "when its done")...
Well, developing progresses and we have already reached some important milestones, but now we have a serious problem: We need a logo and a colorscheme for both our "identity" and the website of the project.
We already have a name for the project, but we are seriously lacking some good artwork skills... To give you an impression of our marvellous skills, here is our current mockup of the logo:
    nice, isnt it?
Ok, as you have noticed, this isnt even rudimentary cool. And now we are asking YOU to create an awesome logo for us
We would like to see ideas from you, the beloved Arch community. We dont have any rules regarding the logo etc, and are completely open about this... So maybe some of the more gifted people can take this above approach and create something awesome for us... As all of our tools also have rather esoteric names (shaman, tribe, more to come ...), maybe the wikipedia entry for chakra could be helpful for inspiration...
If you have any ideas, designs, schemes, whatever, dont hesitate to show us them... If there are some submissions, we will choose the one we like the most, and the creator will of course be mentioned on our website as our "creative director" (CEO is already taken by boom1992, sorry ), together with some of our very descriptive Roles (you can choose them!)
We are looking forward to any submissions, and thanks very much in advance
    Jan
EDIT: I think i missed something in this post, so i write it now: The colors and the font in the mockup are only there to visualize why we have chosen chakra as the name. Of course you are free to do anything! Just do crazy stuff, let your creativity flow, everything is allowed

i think it should be much more visible, that "chakra" consists of the K for kde and the letters for "arch"
"A chakra is a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as wheel or disk and refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity emanating from the major nerve ganglia branching forward from the spinal column. There are six of these wheels stacked in a column of energy that spans from the base of the spine to the middle of the forehead. And the seventh which is beyond the physical region. It is the six major chakras that correlate with basic states of consciousness..."
by the way, arch live project with kdemod4 sounds kinda nice (hope it doesn't have a gui installer )!
Oh yeah, I forgot about that meaning for chakra.....

  • Im in need of some serious help...

Im new to using Logic Pro 9 and software for that matter, I need some serious help if there is anyone who can help me. I have a Imac and Logic Pro 9 and I would like to do all of my sequencing and editing here. But I am a dedicated user of hardware but would love to make the intergration of both. So I have 8 external hardware keyboards and sound modules I would like to use and sequence my beats on Logic. I have an Edirol Um 880 midi interface and also a Roland Integra 7 sound module that I am trying to use as my audio interface via USB aswell as use the internal sounds. Im having trouble with the set up and making it all work the way I am intending it to work. I have my keyboards and sound modules connected to the edirol midi interface via midi ofcourse and the usb cable connected to my Imac and the edirol and 8 midi ports show up in logic when I create an external instrament track, but when i choose one of the um880 ports and lets say i choose channel one I get sound but from all 8 of my external devices but should only here one sound per channel coming from that specific midi port not all 8 at the same time. Im doing something wrong. To add more info, my Integra 7 is connected using USB to the Imac also and Im using the audio Ins and Outs of the integra. Now I also have a mixer which all of my keyboards and sound modules are connected for audio and the outs of my mixer is connected to the inputs of my integra 7 to get sound into logic which I am getting sound, I can record and here playback but my problem is being able to seperate the channels to a dedicated track without pressing a key and hearing everything play at once. Also Im not sure(once i fix the first problem) if I sequence my beat in midi and then bounce the midi tracks to audio tracks afterwards to mix and edit each track. Im going wrong somewhere in my set up either in my edirol um 880, or the Integra 7 or in Logic Pro 9 or maybe just all of the above, can anyone help me out, Please. Also Im using OS 10.6.8.

    Have you considered this?
    Local control and MIDI outputting.
    >Learning about Local Control is crucial if you are to make the most of a combined synthesizer/MIDI controller. The term is used to define whether the hardware is in control of its onboard synth; if Local Control is on (default setting) then playing the keys and tweaking the controls will trigger sounds as the synth's patches are activated. With Local control off, pressing keys and adjusting controls will just output MIDI information to the sequencer, which will either trigger sounds within the computer or return to the hardware at whatever MIDI channel is determined by the sequencer (to control the unit itself or an additional MIDI instrument connected to it). Most synthesizer/MIDI controllers do not allow this kind of control as their front panel controls do not output MIDI data, so Local Control off means that only the keyboard can be used for controlling external devices but not the buttons, faders and pots.<
    Have a nice day!
