Hi,
I am using office 2013 home and business edition.
I got an error while opening the file with .xls extension
from my computer and the same file if i access from different pc
it is accessible.
Please help me it's very urgent........

Do you get the whole error message like this:
Excel cannot access filename.xls. The document maybe read-only or encrypted.
If yes, and the files were stored in local disk, this might be happened because you are accessing a file which has read only permission or permission not set at all. Please go to properties of that particular file and uncheck the read only
check box. if the box is not ticked, then tick and un-tick it and apply. This will replace the file permission.
If the files were stored in network share, please try to remove the two files from the network share (copy them to your desktop). Open each file and save it and then copy them back to the network share.

Outlook Public Folders- Some Documents Persistently Open Read-Only

We have been having this issue for a few months.
Previously, users could navigate to Public Folders and open Excel or Word documents, make changes, save and close without issue.
When this problem first started, users were getting files open as Read Only. We were unsure why this was happening and could not find a fix, so we put out an instructional document on how to: disable Protected view in Excel or Word, turn off attachment previewing
in Outlook and disable the preview pane. If users performed these steps, they could then operate without an issue.
Now it is occurring again, even with the above fixes in place. We tried setting up a Group Policy to make these settings and it didn't help.
My sysadmin had me block the following updates in WSUS: 2687567, 2965295 and 2956128. We thought this may be the cause but to no avail. On my work desktop and laptop it occurs with these updates not installed.
We can access the documents OK, without Read Only status using Outlook Web Access. We are using a mix of Windows 7 Professional and Enterprise. We are using Exchange 2008, Office 2010.

Based on my knowledge, since Outlook 2010, it seems to be by design.
The easiest way to open and modify the attachment in the message, is to "Edit" the message, then open the attachment, make changes in the attachment and save the attachment, then Save the Message.
You mentioned "Previously", was that a previous version of Outlook?

On trying to setup my mail, i went into my hard drive and accessed microsoft user identities, office 2011 and it shows the database but wont let me select it. Its almost as if the file is there but not accessable. I desperately need to access my old mail. How do I do this? I am fairly confident that I copied all files off my old notebook. Is there a way for me to search for the Database file? Maybe I copied it to a different location? Urgent help please.

and hook to another Mac and use CCC or SuperDuper and clone your HD to another drive.
You could also pull the drive out of your MBP and use an external USB case or SATA - USB dongle to hook it to another Mac.

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to your computer (that will copy PDFs and epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and you can then sync them to your iPhone. Or you might be able to open each PDF in iBooks on your iPad and use the share icon to email them to yourself and then use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPhone to copy them to its iBooks app (if the PDF is protected then you may not get the email option via the share icon).
The Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections setting doesn't copy items between devices, it just means that it a bookor PDF is on both devices and you move it into a collection on one device then it will be moved into the same collection on the other device

Office 2013 opens file in read only mode

I have a client on Windows 8.1 Pro using Office 2013. When he access an office file from a network drive it opens in read only. When he saves the file to his desktop using save as it lets him open the file again in compatibility mode but he is unable to
then overwrite the file on the network folder. It keeps giving him a permission error. I have deleted his profile, changed settings in office trust center settings and checked folder permisisons. I am out of ideas. Can anyone help me out here.

From the user, "Every file that I open, opens in read-only mode. It appears that the security is set correctly and I have not changed anything, but, it does not allow it. I have tried rebooting - not solved. I tried disconnecting the shared drive and reconnecting - not solved. However, when I do disconnect the mapped drive, I get a warning saying I have files open. The problem occurs whether I access the files from the mapped drive or directly by drilling down through the folder structure."
When I try to move files over to the drive it says I do not have required permissions to overwrite or move a file. On a different computer he has full access but not on this one. Also the settings in trust center settings for file blocking and trusted locations
also privacy.

Eror downloading a XLS file on the portal hosted struts/j2EE application

guys,
1st of all please bare with for writing such a huge mail but to explain the scenario i had to do this.
i am trying to download a XLS file from the web application (struts/J2EE) hosted on the portlet.
on my portlet i have few text boxes and a button.
onlcik of the buton there are few validation javascripts and if the valdatin is thrugh then the form is submitted.
there are 2 ways i can submit the form to the struts action class.
both approaches have some problem or the other.
Apporach 1

this is like a AJAX request post where the response comes back in the function handleInlinePostResponse_$$PORTLET_ID$$ which can be then handled.
Problems
1. as from action class i am trying to send a XLS file, i am writing the byte stream of the XLS file on the output stream of the response. when the response reaches the function handleInlinePostResponse_$$PORTLET_ID$$ on portlet jsp it gives me an javascript exception 'End of file reached in invalid state for current encoding' but while sending the response i am encoding the byte stream.
the code snippet from the action class is as below
response.reset();
response.resetBuffer();
response.setHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + reportData.getFilename());
response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8");
response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");

2. in case of the any exception on server side this approach is helpful as the error content jsp is rendered in to the portlet from where the action was fired.

This approach is normal for submitting any struts from bean to the struts action class (i know this is not a aprropriate way to submit d form through portlet as it submits whole page inclusding all the portlet data)
Problems
1. here in case of the sucess the XLS file is returned to the browser which openes a browser specific dialogue box having 'Save' 'Open' and 'Cancel' buttons to save/open the XLS file. (please note no javascript exception occurs here as approach one as the byte streeam content is returned to the browser directly and not to any post response handler function as handleInlinePostResponse_$$PORTLET_ID$$)
2. But here the problem is in case of any sever side exception the error jsp is rendered on whole browser page and not in portlet which is kinda goofy.
so now i am in a catch 22 scenario each approach has 1 problem either in success or in failure flow.
can sombody suggest me a way out from this as i desperately need to download a XLS file.
lemme kno if anybody has done a similar download stuf through portal server.

i have done this before although it was in .net. try the first approach but first pop to a new window....the xls response has to be the only response to the browser or else the browser will take the other bytes returned as garbage and call the stream corrupt. let me know how this goes for you.
if you still have problems i can post the code that worked for me. it is in c# but looks very similar.

By using BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN2 Function module I am uploading the Files for the Document number.
My problem is - After uploading the files to the document number the files are not in check in status.
I want the files to be checked in after uploading the from the FM.
Can anyone tell me what I am missing ? How to do check in the files.
I am passing the following values to FM.
      ls_files-SOURCEDATACARRIER = ls_file-DATA_CARRIER.
      ls_files-WSAPPLICATION     = ls_file-application.

Check the values you are passing into ls_files .
you dont need to pass checkedin = 'X'.
and check the storagecategory field - this should not be blnak.

ls_files-DESCRIPTION = ls_file-file_desc.
ls_files-STORAGECATEGORY = ls_file-category.
ls_files-DOCFILE = ls_file-doc_path.
ls_files-CHECKEDIN = 'X'.
This FM will work. No issues just check the values you are psssing into this LS_FILES structure.
Rest of the fields are corect.

Attaching a flat file to the Document Number

Hi,
   I want to attach a flat file to the Document Number generated .
Please follow the steps :
1) Goto transaction FB03.
2) Enter into it by giving a document number.
3) At the Document overview screen you will find the 'Services for Object' button(Left side upper part of the screen)
4) When you click it you will find Create-> Create attachment will be there where you can browse and upload a flat file that tags tagged to the Document number.
     Is there any FM to do this activity.

We are getting the following error when running the Webi Reports "could not get an output file for the document (error RWI 00314)". The issue seems to be related to Tomcat Memory Heap size, our Tomcat Java heap Size is 1024MB. We were able to resolve the issue by restarting the Tomcat. We cannot restart the Tomcat in Prod if this is happening frequently.
Can some one please suggest any other solution other than restarting the Tomcat frequently, our platform is BOBJ XI 3.1 SP3 with FP 3.1 our Wndows OS is 32 Bit.

Im trying to transfer my songs to my itunes. ive tried wit all kinds of softwares and also manually. when i go to my computer and on ipod and select view show hidden files it dont show the ipod control folder. it only shows the dcim

You need a third-party program to get non-iTunes purchased music off the iPod. Which have you tried? Th good ones cost like TouchCopy and PhoneView. Here are some others:

I'm trying to get a blog module going, I've even deleted the html insert bog with the tag in and re-published which then I don't get the error but as a result no blog either. But then I add the tag in again and publish the error comes back. I've used the dev console and it says that my musicians sample.css is out of date but why is it only out of date when I add in html to my muse site?

It's only this page as it has the blog on. Also I've noticed when I've re-published occasionally it will show the mobile version on my desktop and not the desktop version??? no idea why that's happening so I've had to turn that off. any explanation on why that is happening would also be much appreciated.

I haven't received an answer as of yet, I'll post t on here when I do. I de-activated the mobile site because it's my clients site so he needs it to be operational during the day. I hope someone gives me an answer soon.
