In OS 10.8.4 is there a way to delete unread emails as a batch?

I have a lot of unread emails. In OS 10.8.4 is there a way to delete unread emails as a batch?

If you sort them by their read/unread status by clicking that column header, they will be grouped together in the mailbox list, making it easier to select them together.
You could also create a Smart Mailbox with the criteria set to Message Is Unread, resulting in a Smart Mailbox that only contains unread messages. Then you just Select All and Delete.

  • Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone?

Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone? IOS 7.1. Every other phone in the market allows you to 'select all' then delete.
This trick of selecting one, then holding move, then unchecking (and subsequently moving all the emails to trash) doesn't work. I've read these suggestions and while it appears to work the emails just show up again once you leave and return to the inbox. Perhaps it worked on an older version of IOS.
It blows my mind this is not a standard function. I get a few hundred emails at work every day, and most of the time I just want to delete all of them from the phone as I've read them already. Currently it seems i can only click edit and then have to check each email individually to be able to delete them at the same time; this is the definition of tedious. I would think there are millions of other iphone users who get their company email on their phones that must experience the same thing. It seems now i either spend 20 minutes a day deleting emails, or just let thousands of emails accumulate on the phone (taking up space and also making it hard to just review the most recent emails which is all I want to be able to do when checking email on my phone).
I am hoping I am just missing some simple solution here that everyone else uses. Please help!!

Only Apple could answer as to why there is no "select all/"delete all" function in the iOS mail app. Users have been bemoaning this lack of functionality for years now. Like everyone else, you can submit feedback to. Apple here.
    Apple - iPhone - Feedback
While I understand the whole idea of being able to use the phone on the run, if you have an IMAP email account, and if you have access to a computer at work during the day, use your "select all" function on the server and delete all of the unwanted email there and it will be removed from the phone as well.
That doesn't solve the problem on the phone, but it gets rid of the email which is your ultimate goal anyway.

  • Is there a way to keep unread email at the top of the list?

Is there a way to keep unread email at the top of the list?  I do not delet email after it's read so I end up with many 'read' email between the un-read email.  Is there a way to cluster the un-read email at the top of the list?
    Thank you,
    Patrick

Just make a smart mailbox (unread mail) and leave it in the sidebar.

  • Is there a way to delete multiple emails ipad ios7

Is there a way to delete multiple emails on my ipad with ios7?
    The manual says,
"Delete, move, or mark multiple messages. While viewing a list of messages, tap Edit. Select
some messages or tap Mark All, then choose an action. If you make a mistake, shake iPad
    immediately to undo"
Unfortunately, there is no "Mark All".

This is an ios7 issue - from what I can tell...

  • Is there a way to delete multiple emails at one time?

I did a search but didn't find anything on this.
I just got the new 3G and when I setup one of my email accounts (not .mac) it downloaded 700 emails from that account even though about 600 had been previously deleted.
Is there a way to select multiple emails for deletion? Deleting that many one at a time would be tedious to say the least.

These messages may have been deleted from the email client used on your computer for accessing the account but they weren't deleted at the incoming mail server for the account. If so, the iPhone's Mail client would not have downloaded these messages.
With the mailbox selected, select edit. Each message that you want to delete must be selected which will place a check in the circle to the left of the message.
    Select Delete at the bottom.

  • Is there a way to delete old emails in icloud all at once instead of 6 at a time?

Is there a way to delete all the old emails in icloud with one click of a button instead of 6 at a time?

If it's an iCloud email account, go to icloud.com from your computer.  Then you can select email by clicking the first, then shift-clicking that last and pressing your delete key.  Don't try to delete more than about 500 at a time or it will probably hang.
If it's a different email provider, go to their webmail site and do the same thing.

  • Is there a way to delete unflagged emails?

I use flags to mark emails of ongoing projects. I would also like to delete emails in general after 30 days.
BUT I want to keep flagged emails until I manually delete or unflag (i.e. older than 30 days in some cases)
Is there a way to delete emails over 30 days old AND keep all flagged emails - regardless of date?
    I am using a MacBookPro - OS Ver 10.9.4

There isn't a "delete all" function on the iPhone.  If your email account is an IMAP or exchange account, the best approach is to go to the webmail site for your email provider and delete them there.

  • Is there a way to delete all email messages from inbox without checking each one at a time on my iphone 4?

Whenever I want to delete messages in the inbox on my iphone 4, using v4.2.8, I have to manually check each one and then delete them the checked ones as a group. Is there a way to select all and delete them at one time? I love the phone and it is a little complaint, but I often get 50-60 work related messages which I scan then delete because the originals are on my work computer. Thanks.

Also, the iPhone is not a standalone device and obviously doesn't have a full blown mail client... it's an adjunct to your computer.  If you want to delete a lot of emails, do it on your computer.  You could also log into your webmail using a browser on your iPhone and do it from there.
You have a point, but you're just helping exposing the misery a little more:  I actually DO delete the emails in WebMail, very easily.  The problem is the sorry state of the Apple email client, that does not replicate those actions on the device, so I have to delete the messages TWICE--once on my computer, with a couple of clicks, and then on my iPhone, with a couple (hundreds) finger gestures.
As to your point that the iPhone is not a standalone device:  that's nonsense.  The iPhone does a lot of things that users thought IMPOSSIBLE just 10 years ago.  Are you saying that the addition of a simple feature like a "Delete All Messages" button is too much for a mobile device?  Then what to say about Siri, a complex-beyond-our-imagination system that incorporates voice recognition, AI, searching and other hard-to-grasp technologies, all at our fingertips?

  • Is there a way of deleting multiple emails?

It seems crazy to me that with all this technology the iphone has to offer it misses one of the most basic features and that is, being able to delete all emails. To sit there and delete them one at a time is a nightmare, surly it can not be that difficult to add this feature to the iphone. Also there is no way that i can be the only person who this is driving mad.
If anybody knows of an easier way could you pls tell me what it is. The even worst thing about the deleting is that its not even that effective, i press edit then delete one at a time if it registers on the iphone. Sometimes you have to touch the button a few times for it to delete!
Help before i go crazy! aaaaaah!

This is not supported at the present time but if this is an IMAP account that you are also accessing with an email client on your computer, you can do the deletions with your computer's email client which will be reflected with the iPhone's email client automatically.

  • Is there a way to delete multiple emails on my ipad?

I have tried everything and have 756 email to delete so going through them individually is not going to happen.

Thank you so much but....there's always a but! Emails on servers have usually "sent" emails to the device so that by the time you log into your server and your device is switched on, they have already been delivered. Once delivered the problem of deleting them from the device - iPad in this instance - has arrived. As mentioned previously, the technical "Experts" from Apple could solve the problem but for some unfathomable reason are not smart enough to do so? Perhaps they are not incentives enough? Thanks again.

  • Is there a way to delete an email on my computer and have the same message disappear on my phone and tablet ?

Please can someone explain how to configure my messages to delete from my Samsung laptop, and at the same time have them disappear from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and my Samsung Galaxy 111 Phone. I am using Windows 7 64 Bit and can't keep up with the huge amount of emails I get on a daily basis. I know that I need imap instead of pop3 but there has to be an easier way to solve this. Thank you.

''I know that I need imap instead of pop3''
    That's the solution.
''but there has to be an easier way to solve this.''
    I don't think so.

  • Is there any way to delete multiple emails at once?

Just set up my iphone 5 including my email account.  now I have to clear our 4,000 emails.  Is there an easy way to do this?

I have just brought Iphone 4 and I have the similar issue. I am getting nearly 1000 mails daily. out of which I have to delete few according to subject line or To line. Can you please tell me how can I "SELECT ALL" and then "DELETE ALL" after I search those mails.
Its annoying to mark  each mail as its too much. Is there "DELETE ALL" method ?
FYI, I have even tried below method
    Searched my mail
after search completed, > Edit > selected only one mail so 3 button enabled at bottom i.e delete, move, mark > pressed and hold the Move button and deselected mail
    > this opens move window. it also shows total number of mail in search
    > selected TRASH folder and move
    > it shows no mails in search at that time. which means all mails were moved to TRASH.
But when I go back to mail account main folder, all the mails are there.
I was able to do delete multiple mails in BlackBerry curve, so I expected that iphone will handle this too when I brought this phone.
    can you please help.

  • HT204150 Is there a way to delete an email address from an iPad's memory?

I once emailed my boss from my personal .mac email account so that is in his iPad memory.  Yesterday he emailed me with a work related request and the email defaulted to my .mac account rather than my work email address.  I don't often check my personal email since I'm chained to my office desk.  I almost missed this email and that would have been bad for me and my boss' relationship.  Can I delete it from his iPad to prevent this from happening going forward?

You can't - it is his ipad. How do you like them apples?
Seriously - you need to tell him that those emails will not reach you on time. The only way to delete those is to restore the ipad (cause they are cashed in) He would be completely craaaaazy to allow you to do that.

  • Is there any way to delete an email from my phone without it deleting from my ipad?

I have emails I don't necessarily want on my iPhone but would like to keep them on my ipad but when I delete from one it deletes from both. Any way to change that?

If you have an IMAP or Exchange account, that's the way things work...your mail is kept in sync. You could create a new folder, on the server, then move the messages to this folder, rather than deleting them.
