Brilliant thank you, only on mine it is called alt as I have only just discovered, and lo, as you say, Save As actually appears!
Apple isn't so obstinate after all - but why do they make it so difficult to find their simple solution? I even bought a book about switching (O'Reilly's) and nothing is mentioned about any of this.

Hi gunnermac,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]]. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If Yahoo has been set as the default search in the search bar, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Search bar]].
If the address bar search has been changed as well, you might want to take a look at [[Location bar search]].
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]].

Delete the affected email account from your device.

Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

Each of those entries at the RSS site show up in my Firefox RSS folder twice. The content of each entry when I go to it is exactly the same. It's not that one is the reply to the original post or anything like that. For instance, see the attached image of the list of items that show up. The highlighted yellow on top is an example. Both of those links display exactly the same original post and replies. Why is that? Is is possible that somehow I'm subscribed twice? Does that make sense? How can I delete the duplicates, or for that matter, clear all those items that show on the list? I just want to see the new ones. Thanks.

Probably for a long time. Occasionally, there will be a hiccup or a glitch, and closing then reopening the app usually fixes it. If not, then a restart or a reset might. How does one remove content from iPod/iPhone using iTunes 11

Well, I can more or less get content on my mobile devices with iTunes 11 (managed manually, as I've always done). How do I get it off? I have a series of files formatted as audiobooks (continuing education). I put them on my iPhone (for in the office) and iPod (in the car to work). Now I'm done - and can't get them off. Going on the Music app doesn't allow me to remove an audiobook, and that's never been an option on the iPod. When I try to do it through iTunes, I get the following:
Pod: I can at least FIND the files on "On This iPod", but cannot find any option to delete (and I tried both del and command-del). I ended up having to set it up to sync, which I dont like as I typically (for space issues) keep my audiobook library on an external disk - anything I put on the Pod has to stay on the hard drive till I finish listening to it.
Phone: I can't view the content on the phone other than apps. Via iTunes, I can't even see what's there, much less do anything with it.
Am I missing something? There seems to be no option to manually manage media anymore - I can't do it without syncing, and that requires me to leave everything on my hard drive indefinitely.
If anyone's found a solution I missed (other than the process to revert back to 10.7, that is), I;d appreciate a point in the right direction. Mahalo!

To remove Audiobooks depending on the type of Audiobook ie a series of mp3 files you will find under music and probably have to deselect the album name to remove it. I don't have any of these as I download from Audible or I use Audiobook Builder to stictch together mp3 files into m4b files. To find these Click on Books you will immediately see a section for books (in reality ebooks). Scroll down past that and you will see Audiobooks where you can select and deselect. Deselect the required Audiobooks and Click Sync

Hi all.
I have had a wi-fi network running at home for a couple of years, based on a Time Capsule.
Recently I have acquired an iPhone, but it had severe difficulty accessing my wi-fi from my back garden, so I bought myself a second-hand 1st Gen AirPort Expres to 'extend' my wi-fi network on that side of the house. There were warnings as I set up this new device, telling me that 'WDS' reduced the bandwith of both TC & APX outputs.
I have now realised that my MacBook Pro doesn't like the signal it is receiving from the APX, (or at least one of the apps I use on it doesn't), and so I have to remove the APX again. My method of doing that was to simply un-plug the APX.
But I am now a bit concerned that doing that will leave my Time Capsule still configured with the reduced bandwidth it had when the APX was still active. Need I worry about that, or will it automatically revert to it's standalone non-WDS configuration now the APX is not powered up?

If you configured a WDS arrangement correctly, then you made WDS setup changes on both the TC and AX. So, you would need to reconfigure both the TC and AX again.
Resetting the TC and AX back to factory default setttings and starting over from scratch....as LaPastenague suggests......is a good idea, since you want to be sure to start over from a clean slate and not retain any of the old WDS settings on the TC and AX.

Not in the Calendar.app interface. You can remove the entire list by running the follwing Terminal command. You can then re-add the ones you want. Quit Calendar Copy the following single line into the Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app) and press return.
defaults delete com.apple.iCal 'PersistentMenu-lastUsedTimeZones'

By the subject i mean have just the browser window open with the content.
1/ The header on the window where you have the FF logo and the "Adobe Forums: Post New Thread - Mozilla Firefox" plus the window minimizing, maximizing and closing buttons on the right are ok.
2/ Status bar at bottom can remain or not.
3/ But all stuff, inbetween, such as menus, icons, address bars, search bars, etc., we'd like to remove.
Reason is, we're using FF as the interface for an application whose menus, screens, etc., will be html/css/javascript driven... at least initially. (If it's any help, the system is dedicated so the question of the user browsing the net does not arise.)
Presume all the above can be done thru pop-up windows and javascript... but can it be done continuously over several links?
Grateful for confirmation and pointers regarding the right source for the code...

Just upgraded to 11. No "show duplicates" option anymore? What gives? Maybe it's hidden...

Show duplicates was missing from iTunes 11.0. Upgrade to iTunes 11.0.1 if you haven't already done so. Use Ctrl+B to display the menu bar if needed.
The show duplicates features are now found under View > Show Duplicates Items or, more usefully, Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items. You need to manually select all but one of each group of repeated items to remove. Don't delete from the hard drive unless you know there really are multiple files instead of multiple references to the same file.
There is also my DeDuper script which automates the process, merges ratings and playcounts and should handle the deletions properly. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background.
