In pages online, the type is too tight. Letter spacing? Tracking?

It is impossible, just about, for me to use Pages on line. Why? Because the type is jammed together. There is no letterspacing (or "tracking") command. With anything but the strictly sans serif with fixed spacing, the copy's appearance is block-like, dark, with letters bleeding into each other. Even Times New Roman (a pretty standard typeface), the type looks terrible and is largely unreadable.
I realize that if you work in Pages in the application, on a Mac, that there is no problem (especially using the older Pages). But the same document on line is not really usable. I've seen discussion of this point elsewhere on the boards, but no answer.
Is there a solution for tracking or letterspacing in Pages, on line?
thanks!

To be clear, you are referring to iPad apps, yes?
Yes, this forum is only for iOS questions and answers.
It does seem odd that no iOS app would have this feature.
You can ask Apple for it at

  • The control type xyz is not allowed on this page. The type is not registered as safe.

    Hi all,
I have a solution, say My.Solution, I have a project My.Project in that.In that project I have a few features.I added a visual webpart. In the properties of that, I can see that it has a safe control entry for that.I did not rename any namespace or class name.
I just added this webpart to a new feature(which has List Definition and instance) and deployed it.The class name of the visual webpart is Foo and this is in the namespace My.Solution.Foo.
I opened the sharepoint designer and edited the masterpage.I referenced this in masterpage as
    <%@ Register TagPrefix="cus" Namespace="My.Solution.Foo" Assembly="My.Solution, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=87a45275f2ea36e3" %>
and I added this to the masterpage as
    <cus:Foo runat="server" id="customvisualwebpart"/>
After I save in the designer and refresh the browser, I get the error,
The control type 'My.Solution.Foo.Foo' is not allowed on this page. The type is not registered as safe.
I checked the .webpart file and it has the namespace, My.Solution.Foo.Foo. The .spdata has a safecontrol entry too as
    <SafeControl Name="SafeControlEntry1" Assembly="$SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$" Namespace="My.Solution.Foo" TypeName="*" IsSafe="true" IsSafeAgainstScript="false" />
The assembly that contains the webpart is alread deployed to the GAC there.
The web.config for that in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\12345 does not have a safe control entry. I don't want to add it there manualy as I don't have access to web.config in prod
Can somebody tell me what is wrong and what I need to do to fix it?

  • The type is too small

Trying to use Premiere Elements 12. The interface is too small to read. The drop down menus are fine, but the static words (as is the File Edit Timeline etc. headings) and numerals (timeline count) are, for all practical purposes, illegible. I'm displaying on a 25.5" HDMI tv and it's as bad as on my 13" Yoga. As is, the product is unusable. What can I do? Thank you.

i made monitor size adjustments, after checking around, I believe the problem is my high dpi monitor, 3200 x 1800. Apparently, Adobe products are known for not working well with high dpi monitors. That's why the drop downs work well while the workspace reads too small. Someone dropped the ball on this one by not anticipating devices like the Lenovo Yoga. Or, if they were aware of the issue, by not stamping it with a huge reflective sticker warning those of us who are playing the home filmmaker game to stay away. Very disappointed because I was happy with Premiere 10 and only wanted a little more processing power behind it. And I question the safety of running old software on a new machine.

What is the computer operating system on which you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1? It is essentially it is what it is. There is no user control over interface adjustments that you are referring to. But, you can try looking at Control Panel Display for computer adjustment to see if that will do the improvement you seek.
Have you gone into Control Panel Display and looked at the "easier to read options"
    Smaller 100% (default)
    Medium 125%
    Larger 150%
What is the native resolution of your computer monitor?

When I try to reorder different pages it just takes all the pages within the document and turns them into a stack! Why is this happening and how can I oder pages as the update is meant to let me?
Any Help?I know the update has only been out a while but if anyone has an idea why it is doing this, please let me know!

But you are telling me something I already know.
    Be precise.
It is not Pages '09 that is broken.
I am back in Mavericks and testing Pages 5.2.
There are improvements, we shall see how useful, but in less than a minute I have already discovered bugs.

  • I am using my first apple product, mac book pro.  somehow i FIGURED OUT HOW TO INCREASE THE FONT FOR SEARCHES AND WEB PAGES, BUT THE FONT IS TOO BIG AND FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN NOT FIND WHERE TO GET THE SCREEN BACK TO NORMAL, HELP ANYONE?

I am new to Apple, somehow I figured out how to make font of Web pages bigger, but it is too big and I can't use sites properly.  for the life of me I can not how to get my font size reduced.  Help anyone? thank you, sbb

Probably command-minus will do the trick.

  • How do I get a table on pages to continue onto the next page if the text is too long?

I like to make a table to organize information. I just make it like a box. I like to do this for my lesson plans since I am a teacher, but I can't get all my information on the one cell and it just disappears. I attached the picture to help show you what I mean. Cell 4 has more information but it doesn't continure.

Cells will not split in Pages.
You should be able to organise your layout without using tables, not that tables are bad pre se, just that they are not an option here.
If this is important to you, try LibreOffice [free].

  • How can I reduce the size of the page? The txt is too big.  Where is the scale of percentage?

Can anyone tell me how to reduce the size of the page like before when I just clicked on it and I could make the page large or small by %.  The DC is different then what I had before.  Thanks  Jim

    Hi jsamx,
You can hold down ctrl key on your keyboard and then use your mouse scroll to zoom-in or or zoom-out of the page.
Alternatively, you can go to view menu -> zoom -> Dynamic zoom.
Does this helps with your query?

  • Since installing update on 6/25, printing pdf pages OK, but bank account activity type is too large for the page. How do I shrink the type?

Since installing Firefox v.3.6. 6 update on 6/25, printing bank statements in pdf format is still OK, but when I select the print option for my bank account activity the type is too large for the page. How do I shrink the type? We are running Windows XP.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I installed Firefox update on 6/25

Firefox doesn't display PDF files all by itself, it uses your PDF reader program which is also what handles the printing of that file type.
As far as the large printed font from Firefox, open File > Page Setup and see what the '''Scale''' is set to. 100% is usually the best setting, but you might need to use a smaller setting.

  • The type inside the footer drops down 50 px below the bottom of page in preview mode. I already tried unchecking the sticky footer in the site properties for that master page.

I need to fix this footer text on the home page. The type on the master page is centered inside a white 50px box. But in preview mode, the line of text drops 50px down below the bottom of page. I unchecked the sticky footer in the site properties and also set the line of text as footer item. The setting was the same on my second master and it comes out fine.

    Hi
The "content" div is styled to have 100px height and visible overflow. So the text is overflowing the div but the footer is  "unaware" / ingoring it and positions itself after "sidebar2"
Change the height of "content" to 100% and it should work.
    Kind Regards,

  • DRAM timing too tightly - reload timing

    Hi
I've been through all previous threads on this subject, but cannot find a solution suitable for myself.
I'd been using my pc without problems for several weeks until last night when it failed to boot up, hanging on the pre-BIOS screen. I rebooted and got the message "DRAM is too tightly so reload timing". It then hangs again when a key is pressed and I'm unable to boot in Safe Mode.
I've definitely not altered any settings and not overclocked, so can't see why this is suddenly happening.
    Any ideas?

A couple days ago my computer starting doing the same thing.  I am not at it currently so I can't get the required specs.
The first time I just started to transfer a CD onto my harddrive and my computer auto rebooted.  Didn't see any odd messages so I just let it reboot.  I restarted all apps I had running and started the CD transfer again and it rebooted.  This time I saw the "Dram timing too tightly loaded" message in the bios.  I went and checked my bios settings and they seemed to be ok.  DRAM set to auto, DDR timing set to "By SPD" and DDR voltage 2.5V.  I did bump the DDR voltage up to 2.7V but I am still getting the same message.
I tried changing all these setting to what other threads have been recommending but still didn't work.

Before this started my computer has been running perfectly for months.  I just don't understand how it can start flaking out all of a sudden since I have not done any changes.  And the reboots don't seem to be consistent other then when I am running a lot of memory intensive apps.

  • New DM1-4010 E-450 - USB slots on right side too tight

Just got a new DM1-4010 E-450.  Loving it so far but the usb ports on the right side are super tight.  I tried plugging in my wireless mouse receiver and it just wouldn't go in (didn't force it).  The left side slot fits fine.  When I look inside the socket, the wafers on the right are visibly a bit thicker than the other side.  I didn't try any other usb peripherals so I don't know if they will be any better.  My only thought was that maybe there is a thickness difference between powered and non powered sockets but I don't ever remember having this problem before.  Any info would be helpful.
    Thanks

I just received my DM1 and have the exact same problem - ports on the right are too tight, the one on the left is fine. Did you find any solution?

  • RMBP hinge became way too tight

My Retina macbook pro 13" (late 2013) was somehow damaged, I believe, because the hinge became too tight. It made cracking noise if I let the screen keep position for even a few seconds and then moved it. Out of stupidity, I sprayed some WD-40 into the slots between plastic clutch and aluminium so that it would reach the hinge. But this made the situation much worse! Now I can't open my Macbook with 1 hand, and the effort required is so big I'm afraid to bend the screen eventually.
    What do I do?

Bad move.  You may have permanently damaged it, and it is not likely to be covered by AppleCare.  Should have just taken it into service without putting WD40 on it.  Also if it has too much give, you could in theory end up fraying the cables going through it.   I've heard of way too many people ending up with damaged inverter cables and solid lines crisscrossing the screen.

This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design. 2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin. 3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document. 4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source. */ .sidebar1 { float: left; width: 20%; background: #93A5C4; padding-bottom: 10px; } .content { padding: 10px 0; width: 80%; float: left; } /* ~~ This grouped selector gives the lists in the .content area space ~~ */ .content ul, .content ol { padding: 0 15px 15px 40px; /* this padding mirrors the right padding in the headings and paragraph rule above. Padding was placed on the bottom for space between other elements on the lists and on the left to create the indention. These may be adjusted as you wish. */ } /* ~~ The navigation list styles (can be removed if you choose to use a premade flyout menu like Spry) ~~ */ ul.nav { list-style: none; /* this removes the list marker */ border-top: 1px solid #666; /* this creates the top border for the links - all others are placed using a bottom border on the LI */ margin-bottom: 15px; /* this creates the space between the navigation on the content below */ } ul.nav li { border-bottom: 1px solid #666; /* this creates the button separation */ } ul.nav a, ul.nav a:visited { /* grouping these selectors makes sure that your links retain their button look even after being visited */ padding: 5px 5px 5px 15px; display: block; /* this gives the link block properties causing it to fill the whole LI containing it. your home page to get into your Web site should be index.html (for Mac) or index.htm  (on PC)
You can name it something other than index, but will be harder to find.  when you create the subjects and link to them, they can can be named anything with the html extension  Or if your using PHP end in .php. There is a Microsoft type asp or aspx but your hosting service has to set up using windows server system.
My hosting service use a Linux server normally but can convert Windows for a Fee.  UNIX Linux has no concept of asp or aspx.

I have 10.6.8 and have installed two new printers HP 8610 and an Epson 7880 and can not find the Page Set-up menu anywhere in the applications I a trying to print from. This is regardless of either printer selected.
I primarily print photos from Photoshop CS5.  The term Page Set-up has gone missing in the file pull down menu. Can't make any choices  There are no page sizes, paper types, appearsto be locked on a 13x19 size paper format. Either being too large or too small.
Saw a 2008 locked issue about this however none of the help fit my situation, options discussed are not available to me.
Preview has no "Page Setup" - or does it?
Does the constant struggle with computer compatability weirdness issues ever end or is it a enslavement scheme?

    Hey,
if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders.  You can then navigate all the contents as normal.
    HTH,
