In Photoshop 8 (CS2) a typed character doesn't display until another character is typed.

In Photoshop 8 (CS2) a typed character doesn't display until another character is typed or until I leave the text layer. This problem just started and I wonder if I toggled something accidentally.

Could be a font rendering issue with a "bad" font, could be some odd setting on your type palettes, could be an odd glyph substitution setting. we realyl can't know ithout at least some system information, screenshots and so on...

    I tried using unicode character 222B in my program to get the integral symbol.
    It works well in jdk1.2, but if i try to run the same program in jdk1.3 , it's returning delta symbol.
    What is the possible solution, such that i get the integral symbol in jdk1.3 as well as both?

    Hi Viru,
    Have a look at this piece of code:
    import java.awt.*;
    public class CharacterTest
         public static void main(String[] args)
              Frame f = new ApplicationFrame("Character test")
                   public void paint(Graphics g)
                        Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D)g;
                        g2.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
                        Font font = new Font("Arial Unicode MS", Font.PLAIN, 32);
                        g2.setFont(font);
                        g2.drawString("Character \u222B", 40, 80);
              f.setVisible(true);
    [\code]
    I don't have any problems using 32.

  • Photoshop CS5 32 bit icon doesn't display after installing program

    Hi all -
    I just installed Photoshop CS5 onto a new system build which uses the new AMD Phenom 2 Black 6 core/64 bit processor - along with Windows 7 64 bit OS.
    For some reason, the Photoshop 64 bit version displays the Photoshop icon under "PROGRAMS".... but the 32 bit version does not....
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the PS CS5 program 4 times - and it's always the same.
    Can you help me get my icon back?  The program works, but I'd like to see the visual cue of the icon.
    Here is what I am getting (not getting): Notice the Adobe Photoshop CS5 (32 bit) icon under the 64 bit icon shows a 'blank' icon.....
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks for reporting how you got the icon back to the proper display.
    I would find that initial failure to show the icon disconcerting, though, in that unexpected things really aren't supposed to happen like that during an install.  I assume you saw no errors during the installation.
    I'd watch carefully for any problems with the 32 bit version not running properly.  If it didn't get the icon right, it's not clear whether that's the only problem.

  • Replacing a character in a string to another character

    hi,
    i need to write a function or procedure to replace the character of a string value suppose:
    l_error:= 'abcdefghijklmnop' is a string
    i need write a function or procedure to replace the character "c" to "z"
    that data in l_error is not in any table.
    thanks,
    AJ

    I want to Replace all the Existence of the word - "Test" in a string with "Test1" whereever a space exits before the word Test and someother alphabet after "Test" i.e. Test will be replaced with Test1 if a word starts with Test and contains more alphabets also. For example - TestName should be replaced with Test1Name while MyTest should not be updated to MyTest1.
    I have tried to use below query which uses oracle regular expressions -
    SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('MYCOMPANY TEST TESTGEET INDIA PVT LTD TEST','\s(TEST)\w',' TEST1') FROM DUAL
    Output -
    "MYCOMPANY TEST *TEST1EET* INDIA PVT LTD TEST"
    Here, it has also replaced the G also from TESTGEET and resulted in TEST1EET while i want TEST1GEET.
    Can someone please suggest how can i do this..... may b m doing some silly mistake but sorry m a newbie to regular expression...
    Thanks in advance..

  • Photoshop working, but not registering latest actions/commands until another action.

    Version - CS6
    OS - Windows 8
    My photoshop will not register/display my last actions or commands (brush strokes, hide layer etc.) unless I input another command like Fullscreen - it's basically skipping my first input and not showing it until the next input [but for some reason no matter how many brush strokes I put down, it won't display them until a totally different command is used]
    It's not freezing, it's not crashing, it's just not displaying my last actions - I'm trying to render over a sketch and it won't show my brush/eraser strokes until I toggle Fullscreen.
    I already tried re-installing and resetting the preferences to no avail, if anyone has a solution to this I would appreciate it immensely.

    Sounds like a graphics card driver issue.
    Have you updated you gpu drivers (video card) drivers from the makers website of the graphics card?

  • X800-XT Mac Edition and Photoshop CS2 in Full Screen Mode

    I recently installed a new ATI X800XT AGP Retail card into my Dual 2-Gig G5 Mac. I have (2) Sony CRTs connected to this card - a 21" Artisan and a 24" GDM-FW900. So far I have only found one problem and this involves Full-Screen Mode in Photoshop CS2 under a certain condition.
    All of the following conditions must be met to reproduce this anomoly, but it is at least consistent and happens 100% of the time. Here are the conditions:
    (1) Open any image in Photoshop CS2
    (2) Zoom in on the image until the image area exceeds the boindaries of the screen.
    (3) Go into Full-Screen Mode (without Menu Bar showing) but hitting the "F" key twice.
    (4) Hit the Tab key to hide toolbars (the image should now fill the screen and extend off all four borders.
    (5) Now - holding down the spacebar to get the hand tool - pan the umage around the screen with the grabber hand. You will notice that the image will not refresh properly.
    (6) One other condition must be met - you must perform this while on the main monitor which normally has the OSX Menu Bar present. Note: changing the menu bar to the other monitor causes this problem to migrate to that monitor only.
    Can anyone else reproduce this?
    G5-Dual-2Gig   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   4.5 Gig Ram

    Post this over at the Adobe forums to see if it's just a CS2 problem.
    Also you might want to file a bug report with them.

  • Lighting effects filter doesn't display options bar (PS CC)

    When I start the lighting effects filter in Photoshop CC (64 bit) it doesn't display the correct options bar so I can't choose options and not even quit the filter:

    I had to think about this one.  Open the Window menu, and recheck 'Options'.

  • XMP doesn't display proper info in Photoshop CS2 for Mac.

    Dear List members:
    I have just recently installed Creative Suite CS2 and begun to explore the functionality of XMP. After purchasing Bruce Fraser's book on Camera Raw for CS2, I downloaded Metalab (Pound Hill Software) and created my first custom XMP panel that can be seen under the file info in Photoshop when an image (digital photo) is open.
    The problem is that I noticed a few odd things and began to question myself if there is some kind of bug or a problem with my installation of CS2.
    1. The window that opens under the file info command has several categories of information on the left to be chosen from, in the following order:
    (1)Description, (2)Camera Data 1, (3)Camera Data 2, (4)Categories, (5)History, (6)IPTC Contact, (7)IPTC Content, (8)IPTC Image, (9)IPTC Status, (10)Adobe Stock Photos, (11)Origin, (12)Advanced
    The Camera Data 1 option when selected opens a panel in the file info window that seems to contain all the information it is supposed to contain. The Camera Data 2 panel, on the other hand, doesn't display any information at all. Although the fields are there, they are empty. The fields are:
    (1)Pixel Dimension X and Y, (2)Orientation, (3)Resolution X and Y, (4)Resolution Unit, (5)Compressed Bits per Pixel, (6)Color Space, (7)Light Source, (8)File Source.
    All these fields are empty but when looking at the same file under Bridge the information is there, displayed under the metadata menu.
    This is something I noticed "before" installing Metalab so I know it is not a compatibility issue generated by the installation of the software.
    After installing CS2 I noticed that CS1 remained installed in my system. The version I purchased of CS2 is the upgrade one. Since I have no use for CS1 as I am now totally converted to CS2, I would like to uninstall CS1. The following are some of the questions I have:
    1. How can I uninstall CS1 without causing any problems to my installation of CS1 ? Is there an uninstall utility with the software or will I have to uninstall the entire package manually ?
    2. My G5 came with only one internal 160 GB drive where I originally installed CS1. I then purchased another internal 400 GB HD and copied the original drive onto it. This week I am going to replace the original 160 GB drive with a second 400 GB drive so that I can do regular "mirror image" back-ups between the two drives. Shold I expect any problems as I remove the drive where I originally installed CS1 ? Since I used disk utility to "copy" the 160 GB drive onto the 400 GB drive, my understanding it that any Adobe software key or authorization was also transferred to the drive. Is this right ? In case it hasn't, how can I transfer this information so that after I remove the 160 GB drive I will not experience any problems when trying to run CS2 ?
    3. How can I fix the problem with the Camera Data 2 panel under the file info window and command ? I noticed that the folder that is supposed to hold the Custom File Info Panels (HD>Library>Application Support>Adobe>XMP>Custom File Info Panels) has files for CS1 and CS2. Could this be a problem ? There many more files with .dat extenson than there are with the .txt extension. Bruce Fraser specifically says that the ones with the .txt extension are the ones that hold the XMP templates for information related to the image files. The files I have in this folder with the .txt are:
    (1)Camera1_CS2.txt , (2)Camera1.txt , (3)Camera2_CS2.txt , (4)Camera2.txt , (5)Categories.txt , (6)History.txt , (7)IPTC_Contact.txt , (8)IPTC_Content.txt , (9)IPTC_Image.txt , (10)IPTC_Status.txt , (11)StockPhotoInfo.txt
    The only ones that have two separate files one each for CS1 ad CS2 are Camera 1 and Camera 2. Camera 2 seems to be the only that is now non-functional. What should I expect to happen if I were to manually uninstall the ones that relate to CS1 ? Could that cause any problems ?
    My apologies for the long post but I didn't really know how to make it shorter.

    The Photoshop and/or Bridge forums would be more likely places to get answers to your questions. This forum is inhabited more by programmer types interested in implementing the XMP specification in applications we write.
    I'd expect CS2 to ignore CS1 panels so I doubt that's the issue. Panels don't interfere with each other--they just offer different views of the data. In any case, move the extra panels to your desktop and see what happens.
    As far as I know, all you need to do on the Mac is drag the CS1 application folder to the trash to uninstall it.

  • Trying to nstall Photoshop CS2 on a new PC with Windows 8.1? Adobe uploaded me a version that doesn't require activation, but it doesn't work!

    Trying to Install Photoshop CS2, which I bought several years ago, on a new computer with Windows 8.1? Adobe uploaded me a version that it says doesn't require activation, but it doesn't work!

    Your advice to use the serial number provided by Adobe is right on point.
    The only thing special I've done that's not typical is that I have UAC disabled, which does serve to make a system more compatible with older software (and with old geeks like me who prefer to be full-time admins).
    When I installed Photoshop CS2, it just went in and worked.  I didn't think twice about it.

  • After updating iPhoto to 9.2 Photoshop CS2 doesn't display the photo I have opened.  The photo shows in the Navigator on the side panel, but not on the screen.  MFF

    After updating iPhoto to 9.2, Photoshop CS2 doesn't display the photo on the desktop screen, even though the image is shown in the Navigator pallet well to the right.

    No, that is the problem.  I don't see how it should be, but that is what happened after I did the upgrade, which was for iPhoto 9.2.  The upgrade then required that the Library be upgraded.  Then CS2 stopped showing the photo when I opened CS2.  Maybe there was a system upgrade for the whole system, that went along with 9.2.  Before the upgrade CS2 worked.  I even tried photos that I had on backup disks, and they wouldn't show in CS2 even though I had draged them to the PS icon in the dock.  These photos were not on my computer when the Library was upgraded.  I even tried photos fresh from the camera. Elements 9 does work to open the photos.

  • L355D DVD drive doesn't recognize some Photoshop CS2 disks

    I have 2 Toshiba Laptops, one with XP, one with Vista (L355D).  Neither one will even recognize my Adobe Photoshop CS2 install disk.  This Disk works fine in ALL other computers (3) I have tried it on.  Any Ideas???

    If these are new original DVD, you should bring your system in for alignment. If they are copied DVDs, the drive that made them may be out of alignment and your good drive can't read the bad copy.  There is also another issue you may be talking about. Many DVD movies are assigned a country code and will not run on a machine from another country.  This was intended to prevent piracy.

  • Photoshop CS2 Text Tool Error Message

    This is really weird... I think this is the first time I ever heard of this kind of problem. I just installed Photoshop CS2 and everything seems to work fine instead of the text tool. When I try to use it there is an error message that pops up saying: "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being intialized."
    Whats even more weird is that it allows me to drag out a very small text box (so small no text can be fit in it). After that, I can resize the box, and I try to type in it but the cursor doesn't change and I can't type in the text box. And sometimes another error message may appear saying a program error occured.
    I even tried re-installing the software, and still no success.
    I am using Windows Vista Home Edition Premium, anyone can help me I will be greatly appreactive!

    Try resetting your text tool from the drop-down menu in the character palette. If that doesn't help reset your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
    You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
    This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
    A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Error:  "Could not complete your request because of a program error" (photoshop CS2 9.0.2 on MAC OSX

    Today I started my program (photoshop CS2 9.0.2) and opened a JPG file. When I went to print the file the program crashed and closed. When I restarted the program and went to open the file I got this error message, "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
    I have tried several different file types/sizes and all result in the same error message since the program crashed. It will not open any file I try to open. As I indicated above I am using Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 it is on a MAC with OSX 10.4.11.
    I called Adobe and the Rep directed me to Tech Note 331307 and told me to Re-create the Photoshop preferences files. Which I did and restarted the program, but when I tried to open a file (any file) I still get the same error message so it doesn't appear to be the preferences.
    Does anyone have any info as to what the problem may be and how to correct it.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the response. OK... This is the first day I have been able to get back to the problem.
    My system I am running Photoshop on is a Power Mac G4, AGP Graphics ATY Rage 128Pro chip set 16MB VRAM LCD 1280x1024 32-bit color, 500MHz, 1.75GB of memory, 1 MB L2 Cache, 100 MHz Bus Speed. I had installed the latest security update and repaired the permissions the day the problem started.
    Now to day I started the system and went in and created a Guest Account. I logged into the guest account and started Photoshop. Low and behold it worked just fine. So I logged out of guest and logged into my main user account And started Photoshop. Wouldn't you know it.... It works just fine. I can open any file I want with now problems.
    I got to thinking after I had done all of this that I wished I had tried to open a file in Photoshop today prior to creating the guest account to see if it still had the problem in my main user account.
    I did not change anything else on the system and all seems to work fine now. So at his point I am really not sure what the problem was.
    Again thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 shuts itself down after printing..

    Not sure whether I'm in the right place to post this..
    In my workplace, we just bought some new iMacs for design class. They are a 2GHz with Intel Core Duo, and has 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM, and running Mac OSX 10.4.8.
    The Photoshop CS2 is version 9.0
    I've config-ed the five new iMacs so they can print to a printer, using IP printing. Problem is, most of the time after the students sends the document they want to print to the printer, Photoshop CS2 just shuts itself down. Then the dialog box saying 'the software just unexpectedly quit' appears.
    It is confusing me, because our older iMacs (that's not an Intel-based) doesn't have this problem, at all.
    is it something to do with CS2 compatibility with Intel-based Macs? or something else.. what needs to be done to stop this annoying problem?
    Regards,
