In Photoshop there is filter- render- clouds. Is there a Illustrator equivalent?
I know photoshop more than Illustrator. I often use filter->render->clouds. But in illustrator I could not find that option. Is there a way I can achieve the same result in Illustrator?
You can copy from Photoshop the plug into Illustrator as show here Clouds in Illustrator? here. If on mac you will need to right click on Photoshop app and choose show package contents if you are CS6 or greater.
This worked in CS5 & CS6. Let us know what AI version & OS you are on, that helps us a lot on most every post.

Filter Render Clouds ... help
I'm using PSE8. I was using Filter>Render>Clouds and it was working for me. I must have done something because the clouds that are rendered are black & white not Blue and white. My photo is of course a color image. Does anyone know how I can correct this or what I need to do to get back to the default setting that will render blue & white instead of black and white?
Check and see if your foreground and background colors in the toolbox are blue and white.
(the default setting is actually black and white) -
Ok....I have researched this until my eyes are red...I want an answer before I purchase this product.....So how do I access the greyed out filters in Adobe cc 2014\.PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME ABOUT 8 BIT, RGB OR PREFRENCES I HAVE TRYED ALL OF THAT AND NOTHING WORKS. Some give me some useful advice or I will simply not purchase your product.
Thank youMoved from Cloud forum.

Hi,
I'm trying to do something and it would take forever to explain. So I'll simplify my question, and I hope you guys know how to do this.
I want to create the same effects the filter called "Clouds" creates. This filter is found in the "Render" sub-menu under "Filter".
I've tried creating Noise, and then bluring it. I've tried painting blobs of white on black, blurring it, then using the "Sponge" filter with no luck.
So, again, a way to create the same effect using any method besides "Clouds" filter... to make it look near or very near to what the "Clouds" filter creates, without using that particular filter. I've spent about 3 hours attempting this with no luck.
Thanks so much!Actually, it is not that hard to create clouds from scratch. The secret is to look at lots of real clouds to see how they work. But you can create some pretty good clouds with the render Clouds filter. Start with a canvas way bigger than your target image, and fill with the Render Clouds filter. Then use Free Transform to flatten and reshape it. Also use FT to add LOTS of perspective if you want to get that UltraWide lens look.
Where Render Clouds and FT falls short is that real clouds are layered, and surprisingly dark on their shadow side. But it is still doable with Dodge Burn and multiple cloud layers.
Not quite the sme thing, but I saw a really cool tutorial using clouds on Planet Photoshop a while back. Definitely worth a look at.

Filter Render Clouds won't use BG, FG colors
Hi. I'm having trouble getting the Render > Clouds filter to use the bright and dark colors I've specified for the background and foreground colors. Every time I apply the filter on an empty layer I get a gray scale graphic.
Would someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong??In 16 bit and 32 bit modes, the plugin can't get the foreground and background colors (the API only has them available in 8 bit precision), so it defaults to black and white.
In 8 bit/channel, we still use the fore/back colors. -
So i am new to Photoshop. i got it to try this map making tutorial i found here http://www.cartographersguild.com/content/116-ascensions-atlas-style-photoshop.html
i can't even get the first step right. i try and try to render clouds but the option is greyed out. i know i am just missing something. i've tried creating new layers but that didn't help.A very important part in what R_Kelly said is in the settings; particularly that the document mode be RGB, not CMYK.
Many of the filters will not work (and thus are grayed out) iin CMYK mode documents.
Another related trick to the one in the tutorial;
Run; Filter > Render > Clouds, then
Filter > Render > Difference Clouds, then bring up
Image > Adjustments > Levels, and move the dark and light pointers together, near the black end of the spectrum (experiment with it a bit) --
Instant winding rivers!
Filter > Render > Clouds, can also be used in making marble-like effects.

Render/Clouds CS4 - noob question
Hey all,
I've been trying to do filter/render/clouds in CS4 and all it will give me is black and white clouds.. I have my colors set, but still just black and white.. how do I fix this?
TIACloud colors are rendered based on the Foreground & Background colors you have set and displayed in your Toolbox.
Change your colors, change your clouds. -

Have updated photoshop cc but there is still no flames option in filter , render???
Any help please
ThanksMake sure you have 2014.2.2
Make sure Use GPU Acceleration is checked in Preferences > Performance.
Make a new layer, and layer down a short work path.
Then go Filter > Render > Flame
If it is greyed out, you have a problem -
what to do to get the new features under Filter /Render/Trees in Photoshop Cc
But did you update CC to Photoshop CC2014 (Photoshop 15.x)?
Macintosh or Windows?
What exact version of the OS?
Machine specs?
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

No matter what I set for foreground and background colors, the Render Clouds filter uses black and white.
Anyone else run into this?
I'm in CS3, 10.4.11
Thanks
PeterAre you in 16 or 32 bit/channel? That's what it does in those depths (because the plugin API only offers the fore/background colors in 8 bits).

Just keep hitting Ctrl f until you get a look you like. Chose your foreground and background colours, or shades of grey, to also influence the look. After using the filter the first time, you can use Alt Ctrl f to get a harder look, but you could do the same thing after the fact with levels or curves.
If the clouds are too big, make them in a new much bigger document, and Free Transform them down to the end document image size. You can also distort the clouds making them smaller in the distance, as they would be in real life, although there are _far_ better ways to make fake clouds. You can distort with Motion blur, often after first adding a bit of noise for the motion blur to work on.
First work out exactly what look you want to achieve. Then work out how to achieve it. -
My option Filter Render Lighting Effects is inactive (grey)
Hello,
I have Photoshop CS6 (v13.1.2.x32). My PC is Win 7, 64bits. I have already tried many forum and none had an answer that worked for me!
How can I make the option Filter > Render > Lighting Effects active?
Thanks in advance for some help!Hello! Welcome to the beta. please take some time to review the FAQs. There is one in particulat that asks you to share some info about your setup when posting possible bugs: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/963366?tstart=0
If you are on XP, the 3D features are not supported. There is a minimum power needed for the graphic cards, and you want to make sure that you are using the latest drivers. -
When you use Render > Clouds it fills a layer with .. random clouds (Looks like perlin noise to me!). If you were to repeat the process, you would get slightly different looking clouds. I'm guessing that it draws a set of clouds with a random number taken from the time code? Which is why you can't can the same one twice!
Is there a way to expose and the access settings under the hood? I'm hoping to be be able to write a function that creates render clouds (with a random seed) so that drawMeSomePrettyClouds (217) will draw exactly the same image twice. Yes, it's procedural image time!
I don't actually think this is possible in Photoshop, so I may ending up having to write a perlin noise generator and Photoshop scripting might not be the best starting point for this. If anyone can point me in the right direction to do this it would be appreciated. CheersThis works in Photoshop CS4 on Mac OS X (but the randomSeed parameter is just ignored in CS):
function clouds (randomSeed)
var desc = new ActionDescriptor ();
desc.putInteger (charIDToTypeID ("FlRs" ), randomSeed);
app.executeAction (stringIDToTypeID ("clouds"), desc);
clouds (1);
clouds (42);

Can't access Filter-Render-Lighting Effects
I have an image in Bridge that exists both as a jpg and camera raw. I can open the jpg version and apply Filter - Render - Lighting Effects. When I try to do the same with the camera raw image, I get as far as Render, and then the Lighting Effects options is gray and not accessible (along with Clouds and Difference Clouds). Why is this? Surely it should be possible to use the Lighting Effects feature with a raw image?
I am using CS2.Glad to get you up to speed again, on only took a few min. to get answer. Your lucky day!
