In Point Stuck Above Zero

I've been working in a LiveType doc and I cannot get the in point to register zero. I don't have any tracks (as far as I can see) that are taking up space at the beginning -- the first track is flush left against the in point marker.
Any suggestions regarding what might have gotten 'stuck' into place that's causing my in point to start at 54;12?

Somewhere on your hard drive is a file called livetype.plist. Should be in a Library. Spotlight will find it, may take some variations.

Counter stuck at zero

Hi,
I'm using LabVIEW 2014 on Windows 64 bit to acquire displacement data from a digital encoder as follows: Renishaw linear encoder --> NI 9411 digital in --> cDAQ-9174 --> Windows machine.
I have a VI that records the displacement at 5000 Hz. It's been working fine for weeks but suddenly, the displacement value (i.e. the count) stays stuck at zero no matter how much displacement there is.
Displacement data is also being used in a SoftMotion feedback loop. That is working fine. I am even using SoftMotion commands to create a displacement history, which looks right (this displacement history is limited to low frequency activation by the nature of SoftMotion so I created this second way of measuring displacement to get to high frequency). Point being, I'm confident the linear encoder is working fine.
I am extremely puzzled because I haven't changed anything of substance that I can think of. I did switch the cDAQ9174 to a different USB cable os I started with the hypothesis that I had screwed up connectivity somewhere in hardware. The cDAQ 9174 and the NI 9411 both pass Self Test in NI MAX. I checked continuity of the relevant cable pin by pin and it is fine. Then I started trying to get more insight into the value of the counter. I have a number of versions of this VI and they all report that the counter is flatline at zero no matter how much displacement there is in the system. I ran the VI in highlight execution mode to look for clues and I spotted something that seems slightly odd, at least to me. The counter is identified as cDAQ1/_ctr*. Does anyone know what that means?
Attached are screenshots of the VI with and without highlight execution turned on in case anyone sees anything in there that I'm missing.

Hey John,
I didn't see anything strange in your screenshots. The cDAQ1/_ctr* just means that there are more characters following "_ctr", but by default highlight execution only includes 11 characters. You can see the same behavior in a few of your other constants.
When you changed USB cables, did you change any of the inputs to the 9411? Is everything still configured to match the Connections for Counters and 9411 specifications?

Mouse pointer stuck at the right-hand corner of the screen.

Hello all,
I am writing to find help for my girlfriend in Nepal. She says the mouse pointer is stuck in the right-hand corner of the screen, and won't move. I suspect it's a software glitch but since I'm in the US, I can't look at it. This is an old G3 iBook in which we replaced the battery just before she left, and she reports that the battery may be connected to her problem. Anybody have any ideas for fixing this?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
If the iBook is running OS X 10.2 or above, have her try booting into Safe Mode. This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works she will see the normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, have her try to restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless it's been renamed). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
See if a little hard drive maintenance helps things out.

For Eg:
input = 123
output = 0123.00
depends upon the requiremnt,number of decimals will vary

Content is being distributed to the distribution point - stuck at "In Progress"

I have Windows Updates due to be installed on all international machines tonight at 12 AM, and our main distribution point gets the files just fine. Our international sccm server, however, is not.
I'm get the "In progress" on the Content View under Monitoring, but it has been sitting like that for over 8 hours. I know there are a ton of logs in the C:\Program Files\SMS_CCM\Logs location that are constantly updating.
Is there a log in there I can attach or show to help determine what's going on? There are so many logs. However, this is a very serious issue, and I don't know what's going on. It worked just fine, then last months worked, except for the fact that after
about a week, it would say that the content "Failed" on the second sccm distribution point. And now, this month's updates are stuck on "In Progress" on copying it over.
Please let me know what I can look into, as soon as possible.

Savitzky golay filter start plotting above zero

Hi,
Im using a savitzky golay filter to filter data that starts at 930 mmHg. But when I plot the output of the filter on an XY graph, the plot starts from zero and moves up to 930. How do I configure the VI to start plotting the Savizky Golay filter output at 930?

I can't see anything wrong with your implementation of the SG filter (except that you should consider using the "Savitzky Golay Filter PtByPt.vi" which is intended for this kind of real-time use), but I wonder if SG is the best for your application. The velocity you get from your VI is an estimate of the velocity at the middle of your 2k+1 data-point array (ie. k intervals in the past), rather than the best estimate of velocity at the time of most recent reading. With very noisy data you will have to use quite a large value of k to get a meaningful value, and thus will be controlling your vehicle with outdated velocity values. You might be better off with a filter that is designed to provide an estimate of current velocity, such as an exponentially-weighted moving average.

help! i have an ipad nano gen6, which works perfectly except that the down volume button is permanently stuck on down and won't come up. so i can't listen to anything - every time i turn the volume up it just goes immediately back down. Is there a way to turn off the down button, which would be a clunky but workable soluteion? or am i stuck with having to take it to hte apple store - if so any know how much they are likely to charge for this - from a quick net search it seems this is a common problem and a bit of a design fllaw so i'm not keen to pay apple to fix a problem that seems to be their fault!

I have used Fireworks many times, but not within the last few weeks. Now whenever I open it, the mouse pointer is stuck in an area of the screen, usually in the upper right side and isolated to maybe a 20x20 pixel area. It is not frozen and the hot keys still work. I can alt-tab out and back in with no change as well as minimize, maximize, reposition with the windows hot keys, etc. I have disabled almost all of my startup programs as well aside from Avast, no change. I also tried renaming my Fireworks preferences folder so it is forced to create a new one. I uninstalled Fireworks and reinstalled.
What does work? All other apps in the Deisign suite work without issue. If I log out of my windows account and log into a newly created account. It is following my Windows profile. It would be exremely difficult to switch back and forth so I'm looking for a solution within the same account. Also, I have not recently added any hardware and as far as I know all my Windows updates are up to date and video drivers(ATI) and other hardware are up to date.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you're on the right track if you've traced the problem to your particular user account or profile. This suggests that it's either a Fireworks file associated with that profile, another application being run, or a system preference of some type.
But it's a weird-sounding bug, too. This may sound stupid, but if you're on a desktop system, have you tried unplugging the mouse?

Width and heigth stuck at zero

Hello,
I have tried to create some Actionscript3 code to load
pictures. A Loader loads the image and then I create a new Bitmap
instance from the loader.content.constructor. But this instance has
always width and height of zero, not matter what I try.
Output of the attached code:
DONE(x=0, y=125, w=0, h=0)
Any help is appreciated.

X&Y axis crossing at point different to zero

Dear
I am trying to do a scatter plot, but some points are x=0/y=0, so I would like to have x&y axis crossing at a point different to 0 (for example -0,05/-0,05), in order to have a better visualization of this points. Is this possible with Number'09?

There is one drawback. If the lines are to be a different color than the chart gridlines, they must be in front of the chart which also puts them in front of the data points. It would be better to use the same color as the gridlines, but thicker, put them behind the chart, and set the chart fill color to none.
If it is absolutely necessary to have the axis labels at the axes instead of on the edges, it will require text boxes or tables.

Bar charts- can bar start at a point greater than zero?

I would like to create a bar chart where data for each category covers a range. Is there a way in Numbers to start a bar chart at a value greater than zero and extend for a defined amount? For example, start the bar at 70 and stop at 200?
I can do this in Excel, but haven't found a way to do it in Numbers yet. Any ideas?

Yes. Select the chart by clicking anywhere on it. Then click on the Inspector icon in the Tool Bar. In the Inspector pane which opens, click on the Chart symbol in the row of icons across the top of the pane; the Inspector pane changes to show Chart properties. Look down the pane until you see Value Axis Format which shows 3 white boxes. In the first box, type the value you want your chart Value axis (the chart vertical axis) to start at. In the second box, type the value you want for its upper limit, and in the third box, type the number of steps you want displayed on your axis. E.g. Minimum = 200, Maximum = 800, Steps = 3 will give a chart axis which starts at 200 (a supressed zero), ends at 800, and shows 3 values (400, 600 & 800) in addition to the base value of 200.

Reset BufferedReader pointer back to zero

How do I reset the position of a BufferedReader object back to 0? For example, I want to do something with the BufferedReader object, namley use the read() method, and then once I do that, I would like to reset the pointer back to index 0 (or the beginning of my file).
I am using BufferedReader to open a file.
I tried using the reset() method, but that does not seem to work. I also used the skip() method, hoping to "skip" backwards, however that is not possible because you can only skip forward.

Yes, originally I got an IOException, that I simply caught.
Also, thanks for pointing out that the reset() method does not do what I want, meaning reset it back to the beggining of the file. So I have gotten absolutely nowhere.
Do you know how I could reset my marker back to the beginning of the file? What I actually want is to go back 9 characters in the file after I have made the call read().

Uploading stuck at Zero %

I'm attempting to upload .pdf files to convert into word. The uploading is stuck at 0% an not going higher. I have cleared the browsers cache as instructed on another thread, and this is the second different broadband service I have attempted it on. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these files to upload??

Hey John,
I didn't see anything strange in your screenshots. The cDAQ1/_ctr* just means that there are more characters following "_ctr", but by default highlight execution only includes 11 characters. You can see the same behavior in a few of your other constants.
When you changed USB cables, did you change any of the inputs to the 9411? Is everything still configured to match the Connections for Counters and 9411 specifications?

hi,
just adding few point to above:
Zero Elimination means deleting the record from the cube after compression if and only if, the entire key figures of the particular record is zero, as we know that by doing compression it eliminates the space ie it will add up all the record for same characterstic and release the space from it and request id will deleted after that., so with zero elimination it will remove all the KF or addtiion of key figure with value zero
Also plz keep following things in mind while using this optio:
1) If there are two key figures say A & B, they have value A = 0, B = 20, then it wont be deleted
2) selective deletion of the records wont be possible in the scenario
