In Preferences - Advanced - Encryption - View Certificates - Authorities, the "Delete or Distrust" Option appears to be inoperative (recently been hacked).

I attempted the previous steps in an effort to delete some suspicious looking certificates following unusual experiences online using WiFi without success. I "deleted" a number of different certificates and then selected "ok" only to see them all reappear again, and again. since experiencing a recent hacking event, I have also enacted a number of other steps involving our WiFi, Computer, and e-mail provider in addition to the Firefox Browser. Any thoughts?

You can't remove build-in root certificates.<br />
You can only remove the trust bits to prevent Firefox from using the certificate as root certificate and that is what Firefox does in such a case.<br />
You can verify that by clicking the Edit button.

Is the email account that has this problem a POP account or IMAP. If POP, there should be a setting in the account's setting that determines whether an email is deleted from the server when downloaded. If IMAP than deleting on the device should delete on the server and other devices/computers. A problem can occur if the other devices have already downloaded the same email that you are trying to delete. It may take some time for it to delete from other devices. And some providers have bugs in this process. My carrier is Verizon, but I never use their email service.

I personally don't know of any other software that does syncing, however, you can use another cloud service like Dropbox or Flikr to house your photos, add and delete them and have them available for viewing on any device or comuter that has an internet connection.
I'm not sure why you would be having trouble not getting photos that you put into your Photo Stream Uploads folder on your iPad. Photo Stream is Photo Stream. Also, just so you know, photo management and Photo Stream have nothing to do with iTunes. Photo management on the computer is done through your photos folder and app (on a Mac, it's iPhoto). You only use iTunes to tell the sync process which items to retrieve and sync from that library. Photo Stream is completely independent of iTunes altogether.
If you want to get photos from a camera to your iPad without having to use a computer, get a camera connection kit which will allow you to physically hook the camera to the iPad, and to directly download the photos from the camera to the iPad.
You would still want to also hook the camera up to the computer to back those photos up to your photo library on your computer.

Seems like you might benefit from talking to your local Apple Store about when they might have some sessions for learning photo management and sharing between your device and computer, because what you appear to be wanting to do is all do-able. I guess I'm just missing what your issue is. You can many things with photos on your iPad, however, your device will never be a substitue for your computer for backing up and managing your photos.

I think I figured out how to fix it-
I found that if I only delete a small amount at the beginning and at the end of the section that I want to remove - and then highlight that section - Then (and only then) does the "Delete and Move" function work to remove the unwanted section and automatically close the gap between the surrounding sections. I was trying to select a whole section and could only delete it - and then manually move it.
Problem solved.

I'm using IPhone 4 to check emails. Is there a way on the IPhone to setup that the messages would still be on the server so that when I check on my laptops the messages are still there. I can do this setup for multiple laptops but don't know how I can do it for the IPhone.

iTunes used to ask if I wanted to delete the files from my HDD when deleting from iTunes but it doesn't do that anymore and I don't even see the options in preferences anymore. Has this feature been removed or am I missing something?

Is all your music in the default iTunes folder? If it isn't, iTunes will only delete the entry from the database but won't touch the original file. Also, be sure your deleting from the library, not from a playlist.
If the problem is you're simply not getting the warning box anymore, that can be fixed by deleting the prefs file for iTunes (com.apple.itunes.plist which you'll find in the ~/Library/Preferences folder).

Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line on the summary page)
A window will open to explain why the amber light is blinking and offer suggested actions to remedy things.
If everything seems to be working OK, it might simply be a message that an update is available for your AirPort Extreme.

If you click on the certificate '''Details''' it would show the root Certificate Authority (the topmost one) and any intermediate CAs that signed/issued this security certificate. In Itunes 12 is there a way to view search results in the playlist view rather than the drop down menu?

When searching for a song title, an artist etc in Itunes 12 it shows the results via a tiny consolidated drop down menu, however in previous version of Itunes search results would be displayed in the main playlist view. I seriously dislike the search drop down view because A) it only shows limited results B) It shows artwork C) It is confusing when trying to search your playlist when you are trying to organize your library.
If anyone knows a way to change the search view preference please let me know how or advise me on how to suggest to Apple that they change it back or give people the option to choose which search result view they would like to use.

If you disable the Search Entire Library option (available in the dropdown to the left of the search box) iTunes 12 will not show the search results in a dropdown but will immediately go to a filtered version of your current view. With the Search Entire Library option enabled, you can still get to this filtered view by clicking on the first entry in the drop down, which will say "Show <search string> in Library" or "Show <search string> in <playlist>" depending on where you start the search from.
There are some inconsistencies in the search behavior, most notably that where you have the Search Entire Library option enabled and search within a playlist the dropdown will show all matches in you complete library (whether in your playlist or not), whereas the first entry in the dropdown just takes you to the filtered playlist view.

Not sure what you expect to fnd (with regard to epub files) but Preferences/Advanced is found by using the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key (that's ALT to display the menubar, and then Edit/Preferences and the Advanced tab is at the end of the row.

We are intending to deploy our Forms application (at mutiple client intranets, and internet as ASP), and wish to automate the procedure of deploying and cerftifying JAR components, intergrating with the client machine.
We have followed the most helpful document on JAR signing etc for JINIT 1.3, but for our current release we intend to use JInit 1.1.8.19 (and 9iAS Forms Services Release 1 - patchset 10). In order to aid customer confidence in the Java code, and automate the recognition of the signing identity of the code, we intend to purchase a Certificate Authority certificate.
My questions are as follows :
1. Which Certificate Authorities public keys are currently recognised by the identity.obj delivered by default in JInit 1.1.8.19 ?
2. Currently, I appear only to be able to obtain a certificate conforming to the 1.3 JDK. Will these type of certificates enable to deploy using 1.1.8.19 ? For your information, I attach copy of my question and response from Verisign.

Thanks for the response.
For your info, the main reason why we are currently planning to use 1.1.8.19, is purely because all testing / QAT / performance monitoring, has been performed using this version. We are really close to our first expected delivery date and would prefer to stick with what we have. Also, customers have expressed a desire for code to be signed using Certifcate Authority verified methods, rather than self-signed (I don't think this a technical decision, more one of marketing). Also as the Oracle path is to begin to certify directly to Java Soft 1.4..., I'd prefer to make the jump at that stage (particularily considering the supposed solving of the whole authentication issue within this release).
On a slightly un-related note, my personal experience of JInit 1.3, has been that performance (and memory usage on the client machine) appears to be worse / higher than 1.1; but this may just be me. Have you any expereince using the 1.3 plug-in ?

From what I read from your mail from VeriSign you may be forced to upgrade to JInitiator 1.3, if you must use Certificate Authorities. I understand your need to deploy, what you have been using in your test environment; but in this particular case, if CA is a requirement, I guess the best thing you can do is to deploy on JInit 1.1 now using self-signed certificates and then start using JInit 1.3 in your test environment ASAP. I do not know, if any CA's still issue Java1.1 certificates, sorry.
To be honest, I'm waiting for JPI 1.4 certification also; unfortunately, I couldn't wait for this because of customer requirement for Forms9i, and JInit 1.3 actually seems to run OK in my experience - the smallest machine I've run it on is a PentiumII 350 Mhz with 128 MB RAM and Win98, where I really couldn't spot any difference regarding performance. I have actually tested the JPI 1.4.1 also - and it seems to have kind of the same cerficate problem, which Duncan Mills mentions in his recently released whitepaper - but of course this was only a quick test, since I would never actually deploy the 1.4.x JPI as long as it isn't certified from Oracle - and also I do know from other tests, that there may be some incompatibility issues between Java2 1.3 and 1.4...
Sorry I couldn't be of more help - but if you ever should deploy JInit 1.3, eventually maybe even Forms9i, I'd be more that happy to share further experiences regarding these matters.
