In Previewing, is it normal for a string of small browser windows to keep opening?

When I preview in IE browser, I keep getting a string of small browser windows which I must individually enlarge to see my pages as I designed them for the maximized screen. Is this a standard DW Previewing in Browser procedure? I use DW 4 and IE 7.  I have Vista OS with 1600 x 1200 screen resolution. All the targets of my pages are set to blank. I don't want my viewers or myself to be put through this tiresome process when the site is finally online. Do I have a problem here?

Beth,
Bingo, we hit zee jackpot. Your lead about this problem being a browser problem and not DW's was right on. The browser window tweeking did not do the trick, but your thread sparked off some leetle grey cells (Hercule Poirot!) at this end. Thinking you suspected I.E. of the dirty deed, not D.W., I went to Internet Options:
 I. "Change how webpages are displayed in tabs" option. Hit brings up:
          a. "When a pop-up is encountered".  3 radio button options are displayed:
               1. Let I.E. decide how pop-ups should open.
               2. Always open pop-ups in a new window (this button checked. aha! gotcha!)
               3. Always open pop-ups in a new tab.
I unchecked "2" and checked "3", and Voila! C'est ca! No more leetle pop-up weendows!
I owe you a free trial workout with Charles Atlas. Is he still alive? I mean, he was even before Jack La Lanne. OMG, I'm showing my telltale leetle grey cells!
Case closed, Inspector Marshall.
Merci millefoix!

  • Is it normal for Firefox to have to load basically everytime it opens?

    I just need to know if there is something wrong with my phone or firefox installation on my HTC EVO that it has to load every time it opens. The default EVO browser seems to stay open and is much quicker start up and I just love firefox and hope it can do the same.

    This happens because Firefox uses more memory (RAM) than the default browser, and Android automatically closes apps in the background when their memory is needed for other activities. We're working on making Firefox use less memory so it will stay open longer, and also on making it start faster.

  • Prompting users for confimation when closing browser window

    Hi All,
    I would like to prompt the user with a popup-screen asking for confirmation that he wants to close the browser when hitting the browser-close ('X') button. Is this possible ?
    If the user chose to cancel the browser window shoud remain open, with all content as it was... and of course if he chooses to continue the window should just close.
    the WDA app is straight forward, and not running inside the portal.
    Thanx in advance
    -Tonni

    Hi Tonni,
    I thought I should add - the portal does implement a work protection mode that does allow you to prompt users if they navigate away from your page - and one of the best ways to implement that is through the FPM and its work protect mode interface.
    However, that still doesn't help, I'm afraid, in the case where you're trying to stop the user closing the browser window...
    I should also point out that some browsers do indeed produce an event which can be trapped on close of the window, and have been hugely exploited by website designers - to the extent that later/better versions no longer support it. Remember the web pages that when you closed spawned 3 more, and those 3 more etc. etc.
    Cheers,
    Chris
    edit:  also worth pointing out that the "Close" button provided within a portal session by the FPM is a form of navigation and can be trapped. Likewise any internal navigation button that perform the same sort of thing within your app.

  • Is it normal for a lens to continuously whirr in liveview mode that too with AF&IS-off ??

    I have Canon 60D & 55-250 IS II lens which makes a constant whirring (appears like of motor) sound in liveview mode, camera being idle (no button pressed) even with IS and AF switch in off position. Sound is not loud, but one can hear it in silent environment.
    sound type preview: 0:05-0:24 https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_dfVOjfAyHdMXpfZHdJWTZKeGc/edit
    With IS on (AF off), its again there in Live view mode & but with half press shutter button stops for a while and again starts with IS's clicking noise. When i release button, both sound stop for a while and that motor whirring sound starts again.
    Nothing like this will happen when using View finder (AF off). Here idle camera's lens is silent. Only sounds (Clicking & whirring) when IS is on & i half press button. Release the button and its again silent.
    Is this normal for a lens? Is anyone else's lens (may be other than 55-250mm) making this whirring sound? My main concern is, when IS/AF is off and i am not using camera, lens should not make whirring sound even with live view.

    While booted off the disc the G5's fans go into overdrive, just like when the Mac kernel panics.
    Normal.
    Is 2.6.3 it as far as ASD's go for the late 2005 G5's??
    Yep.

    Maybe check if Metalink note 764180.1 applies? This appears to be a bug fixed with patch 7669965.

  • Using Convert to handle NULL values for empty Strings ""

    After having had the problem with null values not being returned as nulls and reading some suggestion solution I added a converter to my application.
      <converter>
        <converter-id>NullStringConverter</converter-id>
        <converter-for-class>java.lang.String</converter-for-class>
        <converter-class>com.j2anywhere.addressbookserver.web.NullStringConverter</converter-class>
      </converter>
    ...I then implemented it as follows:
      public String getAsString(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, Object object)
        System.out.println("Converting to String : "+object);
        if (object == null)
          System.out.println("READING null");
          return "NULL";
        else
          if (((String)object).equals(""))
            System.out.println("READING null (Second Check)");
            return null;
          else
            return object.toString();
      public Object getAsObject(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, String value)
        System.out.println("Converting to Object: "+value+"-"+value.trim().length());
        if (value.trim().length()==0 || value.equals("NULL"))
          System.out.println("WRITING null");
          return null;
        else
          return value.toUpperCase();
    ...I can see that it is converting my values, however the object to which the inputText fields are bound are still set to empty strings ""
    <h:inputText size="50" value="#{addressBookController.contactDetails.information}" converter="NullStringConverter"/>Also when reading the object values any nulls are already converted to empty strings before ariving at the converter. It seems that there is a default converter handling string values.
    How can I resolve this problem as set nulls when the input value is an empty string other then checking every string in my class individually. I would really hate to pollute my object model with empty string tests.
    Thanks in advance
    Edited by: j2anywhere.com on Oct 19, 2008 9:06 AM

    I changed my converter as suggested :
      public Object getAsObject(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, String value)
        if (value == null || value.trim().length() == 0)
          if (component instanceof EditableValueHolder)
            System.out.println("SUBMITTED VALUE SET TO NULL");
            ((EditableValueHolder) component).setSubmittedValue(null);
          else
            System.out.println("COMPONENT :"+component.getClass().getName());
          System.out.println("Converting to Object: " + value + "< to " + null);
          return null;
        System.out.println("Converting to Object: " + value + "< to " + value);
        return value;
      }which produces the following output :
    SUBMITTED VALUE SET TO NULL
    Converting to Object: < to null
    Info : The INFO line however comes from my controller object where I print out the set value :
    package com.simple;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    public class Controller
      private String information;
      /** Creates a new instance of Controller */
      public Controller()
        System.out.println("Createing Controller");
        information = "Constructed";
      public String process()
        System.out.println("Info : "+getInformation());
        return "processed";
      public String reset()
        setInformation("Re-Constructed");
        System.out.println("Info : "+getInformation());
        return "processed";
      public String setNull()
        setInformation(null);
        System.out.println("Info : "+getInformation());
        return "processed";

    It may be that the code in getString() returns a
    String that ends with a newline. If that is the
    problem, you can use
    return (Integer.parseInt(st)).trim();1. getString will never return a String ending in newline. BufferedReader.readLine strips off the newline.
    2. Even if you had a newline, String.trim doesn't trim newlines.
    3. You would need to trim the String, not the int:
    return (Integer.parseInt(st.trim()));As JimDinosaur said, you are passing bad data (the value of "st").
    In getInt, add this before trying to parse "st":
    System.out.println("###"+st+"###");What does it print?

    Not Charge
    - See:

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    and

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Thanks ,

    i've did some search on the same issue and it really seems like everyone have it , even thou at apple reseller showroom here in Doha-Qatar the sales man told me this a such issue in the retina macbooks and apple has admit it and you must take it to the service center and change it , while at the service center said a totally different things and that its fine to get heat ..

    n.setId(rsReturn.getString(1));
    System.out.println("rsReturn.getString(1)"+ rsReturn.getString(1));

  • Is it normal for files to go missing from an external hard drive?

    I've posted about this issue before but for slightly different reasons. I'm about to buy a new hard drive (the old one is full), probably I'll go for the exact same model, and I want to know if the problem I had described here has happened to Mac users.
    I use a Retina MBP with OS X 10.8.4 that also runs Windows 8 on boot camp. At the same time I have an Acer Aspire and what I used to do is download movies onto my external drive with my MBP in Mac - I would also rename the files in Mac - and then connect the drive to my Acer so I could access the movies there.
    One day I noticed that some of the files, after I had renamed and moved them to a new folder on the same partition, had gone missing. As I described in my old thread, it was a weird problem because those "missing" files would appear in Windows but not in Mac. But even in Windows when you could see the folders, they were all corrupted as the system indicated to me - the folders couldn't be accessed and the movies wouldn't play.
    Thankfully I haven't had this issue again but then I haven't dared to move any of my movies to a new folder either. Not since that incident. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have lost those movies and had them corrupted if I had kept them in their original location. Is it normal for files to go missing or be corrupted when you move them back and forth, especially when you use an external drive with one OS (Mac) and then switch to another (Windows)? I've always wondered if this was an issue. I never formatted the drive when I got it, I just plugged it in and used it. That was before I bought my MBP.
    I also was unable to delete those corrupted files/folders. Windows wouldn't let me and in Mac, they didn't even show up. I solved this eventually by using Disk Utility to repair the drive.
    Now I'm fine with letting my files stay put if that's what it takes to keep them safe and secure, but I'd be more comfortable if I can understand what went wrong all those months ago.
    The hard drive I have is this one from Samsung.

    Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
    If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
    Longer answers if for any reason you do not think all library files are inside your iTunes folder (changed preferences settings at some point):
    iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
    For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
    2011 ilounge article: Transferring your iTunes library - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/  - An article with good background information (similar to the links above), particularly if you are not sure your media files are all grouped for quick answer above. Unfortunately under the single term "transferring library" it describes two very different moves; relocating just your media (not  really transferring your library and not recommended unless you really need this configuration), and relocating media+database (really your whole "library").  Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media.

  • How can I search for a string like a partial IP address in the global search

    When searching for a string like "10.255." the global search finds messages containing "255" or "10" and both.
    This happens no matter whether quotation is used or not.
    When quotation is used it probably will match on the given order as well, but beeing in the timezone '+0100' the string "10" is always found first (in the email headers...).
    Is there a way to tell the global search not to use '.' or any other character as whitespace?
