In private browsing, ctrl+shift+del is disabled, but I delete cookies during browsing after leaving email; is there a keyboard shortcut or setting to allow this?

I am usually in private browsing mode (since Firefox 4 no longer allows control of how long history is kept). Currently to delete cookies while browsing (e.g. after closing email) I have to go through the menu, open the options|privacy tab, show cookies, remove all cookies. Or I have to close and reopen the browser. Why would Ctrl+Shift+Delete be disabled? Is there a hidden setting to enable it in private mode, or an easier way to delete cookies on the fly?

OK, I will try your suggestions -- thank you. Although I did note today when I went out of private browsing mode and into normal mode, the recent cookies from PB mode were not visible like they were a couple of days ago.
But I am still confused about this because there are cookies definitely being placed and kept on my computer when I am in private browsing mode, but I can't see them or access them, so how do I get rid of them?
This was previously mentioned as a known bug that was supposed to be fixed, but it doesn't appear that it's been worked on yet. Here is the post from which I pulled the bug report link::
link text
I want to be sure I can see what cookies I have, and also be able to delete them. Currently there is no way to do that while in PB mode. And also, it now appears that even after switching to normal mode, I can't see the cookies that were placed while in PB mode, so how can we know and remove those cookies that are being placed while in PB mode?
Thanks!

• Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the presently open web page in another tab? It used to be Ctrl + N.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the presently open web page in another tab? It used to be Ctrl + N. This shortcut now opens a Tab with the home page instead of duplicating the web page I'm on.

Firefox has always opened new tabs in a blank page, so I'm guessing that the way you had it before was added by an extension.
If you to to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, are there any extensions disabled?
In any case, you can still do this with a mouse shortcut. Hold down the Ctrl key as you drag a tab to an empty area on the tab bar.

• Is there a keyboard shortcut (not Ctrl-F4) that will close a pop up window?

I have a Dell notebook with a 10" screen. When I go to the www.allrecipes.com website, there is a pop up that appears when you go there for the first time that day. Because my screen is so small, I can't scroll up or down to get to the Close X box in the top right corner. The pop up is one of those annoying ones that moves down the screen with you as you try to arrow down the page.
I already have the pop up blocker activated - this is one of the few sites where I want to see the ads. I have also tried using Ctrl-W but that closes the whole window. I just want to be able to advance past the ad window.

You can try to press the Space bar to do the default action (OK). You may need to press the tab key to set focus to that button. Also disabling JavaScript temporarily will stop that pop-up from moving and may work to click that button, but disabling JavaScript may have other unwanted side effects.
Isn't there a close X on that pop-up?<br />
I didn't get a pop-up visiting that page, so it is possible that only registered users get it.<br />
You can try to clear the cookies from that site to see if that helps.

• Suddenly, Firefox seems to have stopped deleting cookies and browsing history at close, although that is what I have always had selected, and selections haven't changed.

I have always had Firefox set up to delete cookies and history at close. I noticed today that it doesn't seem to be doing so.
I can shut down and restart, and still see prior history, and cookies are apparently still there.
The functionality has always been that if I'm in an email account like gmail, and I close Firefox, I have to log back in when I return. I noticed today that when I restart Firefox, I don't have to log into gmail, I'm still logged in, even though I didn't tell gmail to remember my info (and even if I did, that cookie should be gone). I don't think it's a gmail problem, because other browsers still seem to work correctly.
Thoughts?

Hey, these are the instructions on how to try safe mode. Please post back with your results.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
*In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

• Is there a way to selectively disable "quick search" on specific websites (i.e. those which use javascript-driven keyboard shortcuts)

Some websites use javascript (or differently) driven keyboard shortcuts - for example some google services or the tinytiny-rss feed reader. On those sites users normally don't use the "quick search" function, but it tends to get in the way of the keyboard shortcuts which tend to be pretty useful.
So, is there a way selectively disable quick-search on some websites? Maybe there is a Addon for this?
Thanks in advance, Kind Regards

This is a follow-up to the above question I had.
Since i noticed people looking at the question, but no replies showing up, i contacted BC support directly with the same question.
I got a reply.
I did tests based on the reply.
Here is what is going on based on the reply.
(spoiler alert : It works... but it's not yet a perfect score.)
All the details are posted here :

• If I would like to have all opened tabs in my browser stop loading a webpage is their a shortcut key that will allow this?

If I open too many Bookmarked pages into tabs my browser will hang and then sometimes crash or close unexpectedly.
If I bring up task manager or use the Alt + Tab I can navigate to the window and right-click and choose restore to allow me to see the window again. This needs to be done if I load more than 10 pages at once. Is there a way to choose to prevent loading of all opened tabs and then choose which tabs I'm currently working with to load the webpage? I would like to know how to use a shortcut key on my keyboard to select all tabs as ctrl + A does not work and then escape or another key tells to stop all pages from loading in each tab as with all the ads, gifs, videos, and internet spam keeps growing it is too much of a strain to have multiple webpages opened in tabs on the browser.
I use Win XP SP2 and I am eagerly waiting a solution as it has been an issue with even previous versions of Firefox however IE could only have about 3 tabs opened and then would crash that is why I stick with Firefox as my browser of choice.

• Is there a keyboard shortcut to launch firefox 3.6.3 with windows vista? Hot key (ctrl + alt + key) does not work.

The hot key (ctrl + alt + key) does not work. This is in Windows Vista.

Thank you Morbus and Cor-el, for your prompt replies. Here's what I did: I've placed the Firefox icon in the quick launch toolbar. So I right-click this firefox icon>Properties>Shortcut tab>in Shortcut Key field, add X (the word "None" changes to "ctrl + alt + X")>Apply>Okay>and that closes the dialog window.
Then, to try the new launch short-cut, I press and hold down, in order, ctrl, then alt, then x (holding all three down) . . . and nothing launches.
I thought this would do it! So any further thoughts would be a splendid help ---- many thanx!

• Is there a keyboard shortcut to temporarily disable all adjustments

This is strange... I've looked through the manual, did a search here, did one on google and no mention of this at all.
After doing a number of adjustments to an image, how can I quickly see a "Before and After" version?  You can uncheck the button next to individual adjustment blocks but I want to ignore all of them temporarily to see the full effect.
Thank you for any help.
Bo

Doh!  The minute I click "Send", I see a message in the "More Like This" box which points to a similar question.  I guess the search word I needed in there was "toggle"!   Darn.
Anyway, that other post reveals that the answer to my question is "M" for Master.

• Programmatic execution of Save All command (ctrl-shift-s)

I have a set of Projects, each configured with code for an RT target. I have written a VI server application to open each project, and open the front panel of the main VI for the RT target.
Once that front panel is up, I can go to the menu bar, select File, and then select Save All. However, I need to do this programmatically. With VI server, I only see Save->Instrument, which only saves the main VI, not all the subVIs. How do I do the equivalent of Save All?
I have tried getting the list of all opened VIs and saving them individually, and also tried the Mass Compile, but both of these take many hours to complete, whereas the manual Save All just takes a few seconds. I have also tried accessing the Windows utility USER32.DLL:keybd_event to press the ctrl-shift-s keys programmatically, but that doesn't seem to work either.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I believe the thread you linked will only save the vi's, if you have libraries or controls or other things you want to save then you might try this.

• Ctrl-Shift-M

Before the latest verion of iTunes, I used to be able to toggle between the MiniPlayer and the normal view of iTunes by pressing Ctrl-Shift-M.This doesn't work for me in iTunes 11. Is there a keyboard shortcut for getting back to the normal view in iTunes 11.

• Screen wont stay off when turned off via ctrl - shift - eject, turns back on within 5-10 seconds - 10.7.2

I usually have my MBP next to me and when I'm not using it I either use the hot-corner to turn the screen off or the ctrl - shift - eject keys.
But when the screen is off it wakes up within 5-10 seconds every time, nothing I can see has changed since this didn't used to be an issue.
It's always stayed off but recently it hasn't been.
I'm on 10.7.2, I even shut down every app and just had it running stock OSX and it still does it.
I have no peripherals connected to it, bluetooth is also off.
Does anyone know of a fix or is this just happening to me?
Many thanks in advances.

i would take back to store and exchange.
if this is new behaviour then make sure you running the latest update.
if that doesn't fix it...hold off a few months and upgrade to torch 2 but if you still within exchange time from when you got it...exchange...within warranty time? rma it.

• Cant open pages that need log in info. I've cleared cache, disabled extensions and deleted all cookies to no avail....help!!!

Any page that requires a username and password will not open, this started last Thursday and at that time I was able to reinstate by clearing cache, disabling extension and deleting cookies. Subsequently that fix failed and now doing all those things has no effect.

I found the answer: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 It was a conflict with RealPlayer. Incidentally, in order to find this thread again, I had to use a google search. Is there really no way to find a person's own questions via our own profile???
