In recovery mode and iPad shuts off and ask for password

So i am in recovery mode for my iPad 2 and when doing the recovery the iPad shuts off and turns back on and the pc ask to put in a password on the iPad but i can not even put in a password and than the iPad says to connect to iTunes again so does this mean the recovery mode doesn't work. please help me out.

If you are trying to restore your iPad, I would suggest placing your iPad in recovery mode manually and attempting the restore. Please follow the instructions in the attached article to complete this process.

But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

My Ipad will shut off after 3 to 4 minutes even with a full battery and whether it is being used or not. then it will power up again on its own. This also occurs when the charger is connected and when I have it connected to my computer.

First try to Reset all settings if this does not fix the issue - No data Loss
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
If Not You need to restore the Device - Data Loss

After updating my touch ,got the recovery mode now its totally off and wont turn on .even if you hold the 2 buttons for 10 seconds or plug it in
