In Safari 8.0.2 extension window is blank

When opening Safari prefs and opening the extension tab, the window is blank except for 'get extensions'.
When I want to install extensions I get the message: first switch on extensions. But how? The button is not there (anymore) !

Uninstall "SIMBL" or "EasySIMBL" as follows. Back up all data before making any changes.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library
In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return. A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
          Application Support/SIMBL
          InputManagers/SIMBL
          LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
          LaunchAgents/net.infinite-labs.SIMBLEnablerForSandboxedApps.plist
          ScriptingAdditions/EasySIMBL.osax
          ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in. There may also be an item named "EasySIMBL" in the Applications folder. Delete it, if so.
Make sure you never reinstall any variant of SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

Do you mean the Extensions tab (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or the Get Extensions tab in "Tools > Add-ons"?
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.

  • Safari extensions window has gone blank

    Hey everyone!
My safari extensions window has gone blank. I have a MacBook Pro running 10.7.4, and I recently downloaded some extensions from the Apple Site.
I've trashed the Library/Safari/Extensions plist folder and re-booted but this has not helped. I can install them but not manage them through the preferences > extensions window. Any advice appreciated.

Have you done disk repair ? Oopen disk utility select the HD then (after turning off all other programs) run Verify Disk, then repair permissions.
I was told when I got my first computer that before installing new, and after installing new software, repair disk permnissions.
    I hope that helps.
You might want to pull stuff out of the trash...

  • Safari suddenly opens up a window

Safari suddenly opens up a window linking me to cloud10.org which directed me bakerradio.com. anyone experiencing such a problem with their browser too? is this a virus?

Terminal is an OS X application that emulates the dumb terminal of a UNIX workstation. It is the defaut application for opening UNIX execuble files.
OS X uses the file extension (those three of more letters following the period near the end of a file name) to identify which application is used to open a file. If the file has no extension, the OS assumes the extension to be .exe, and that the file is an executable file—a UNIX application—and launches Terminal.
Prior to OS X, Mac operating systems used Creator and Type codes, recorded at the beginning of a file, to identify which application created the file, and what type of file it was. These codes (BOBO for AppleWorks, and CWWP for a word processor file) were not visible. No file extension was necessary, and none was appended to th filename.
The Windows file system, though, did use extensions to identify files and associate them with applications. A Microsoft Word file was a .doc file, Excel used .xls, etcetera. The Windows version of AppleWorks (then ClarisWorks) also applied an extension to its file names—.cwk—and that's the extension still used.
If your 'old AppleWorks files' do not include a file extension in their names, try adding one. Early versions of OS X included an applescript for this purpose, and you may find that script on your machine yet. Its name is Add to File Names, and a Spotlight search should bring it up.
Add the .cwt extension to the filenames of the 'old AppleWorks files, and you may find they correctly open in AppleWorks.
    Regards,
    Barry

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

  • Issues with Safari 3.0.1 for windows

Issues with Safari 3.0.1 for windows (at work):
Lenovo T60 with intel core duo T7200 @2.00Ghz plus additional monitor (Lenovo ThinkVision) in extended desktop mode running Windows XP Pro 2002, SP2
    1. Taskbar is configured to autohide: when Safari is the top (active) window, it remains on top. If the taskbar pops up, it does so behind the Safari window, because I cannot see it.
    2. If an open Safari window is dragged to the external (secondary) monitor, then maximized, it disappears to the side. It is not closed. I can still find it via Alt-tab or in the task bar and can, by right-clicking ‘Move’ from the taskbar use the arrow keys to move the window back into place. Clicking to reduce the window, then re-maximizing leads to the window disappearing to the side again.
    3. In general my impression is that this does not function at a ‘beta’ level, but more of an ‘alpha’ level. Still very buggy.

    iMacIntel Duo 2Gh   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1G-RAM, 250vRAM

This is a beta...thats why they give you the option to report probs via the bug icon. Since you are having these probs try and report them, I am not sure if apple has the time to scan these forums to try and find the big probs that people are having. So unless you report bugs, (and wait until the final realease) then they might never get noticed and or fixed.

  • I don't want Safari to re-open all windows from last session; can't make it stop. Set Safari preferences to new window and new tab open with blank page, but it won't.

P.S. Also cleared cache and History. Running OS 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7.

I hate this "feature", and it is another example of Apple taking functionality (and choice) away from the user. In this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4550
there is a description of it.
    Resume in OS X Lion
When you open Safari in Lion or restart the Mac, Safari automatically restores the open windows and tabs from your last browsing session, so you can continue right where you left off.
Tip: To open Safari without resume, hold down the shift key (⇧) as you open Safari. Safari will then open with the options you selected in the "General" tab of Safari preferences, options like your homepage.
In Mac OS X v10.6 and Microsoft Windows, you can choose to have Safari automatically restore your windows in the "General" tab of Safari preferences.
99 times out of 100, I DON'T want to restore all the windows from my last browser session. It makes zero sense for them to take the checkbox out of the General tab of the Safari Prefs.

  • Safari 5.1.7 for Windows, Can I get the Adobe Flash Player Update???

I just downloaded Safari 5.1.7 for Windows 7 and when I went to the YouTube page, it says that there is a missing plug-in and when I try to find a video, it shows this:
When I try to update the flash player, it only update my IE 9 and Google Chrome. I also have the lastest version of QuickTime and still doesn't work.

Thanks for the suggestion - removing my adblock and reinstalling the
flashplayer solved the problem, working fine now with new adblock which
will go bye-bye before I do the next update (not a fan of resorting to
    swearing at my screen!)

  • Error message after update "Safari cannot open a browser window and may be

My daughter just did an update and got the following error message: "Safari cannot open a browser window and may be missing important resources. Try installing Safari again.
Any thoughts or tips as to what happened?

Just a few pieces of clarifying information... This is Safari on OS X you're talking about, right? Also, what update did your daughter install? Have you tried reinstalling Safari (you can download it from Apple's site)?

  • Safari 4.0.5 OSX & Windows

I have both Safari 4.0.5 for Windows and Safari 4.0.5 under OSX 10.5.8.
I have one site that displays a Flash page peel ad using IE and Safari 4.0.5 for Windows, but the same site does not display the page peel ad using Safari 4.0.5 OSX (although other sites with Flash do display in Safari OSX).
I have checked preferences and plugins are enabled, etc. I have even reinstalled Flash Player under OSX.
Can anyone suggest where I might look for a resolution? Seems to me that if it works under Safari for Windows, it should work in Safari for OSX...

    HI,
I have checked preferences and plugins are enabled, etc. I have even reinstalled Flash Player under OSX.
Did you uninstall the old version first? If not... uninstall then reinstall the plugin.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
    Then repair disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
