In Safari (in Gmail), plain text pasted in doesn't adopt the existing font

When pasting plain text into Safari (Gmail), it shows up as Ariel instead of the current font in use in the e-mail (happens to be Trebuchet). It doesn't happen in Chrome.

And it's only a Gmail issue, not in, for example, Google Docs.

I have been having to change my email messages to plain text alternative in order to read the font.  Can I change the default somewhere?

Maybe I need to try a different route.  I was able to change the font settings for the general mail.  I am now thinking it is a problem with Safari or the internet browser.  I am seeing the bubble font only on messages that contain pictures ~ When I click to view the full message in the browser, the font changes to a readable font.

    Hi howe.sc,
When I checked for how signatures in Yosemite work, I found this.
Mail (Yosemite): Include signatures in messages
Delete a signature from a message: Select the signature, then press the Delete key.
Replace a signature in a message: Delete the existing signature, then add a different signature.
That sounds similar to what you are describing.

  • Plain Text URL links not working in the Windows 8 Mail App for only one account.

    Hello,
I just started using a Surface Pro, and randomly one of the accounts I have setup in the "Modern" Mail app stopped parsing the pain text URL path that was included in them.  Specifically links to forum discussions.  I have 4 other Win
8 devices and they display the links fine.
More confusing is this issue happens ONLY with my O365 mail account and only on one PC.   I have an Outlook.com account and it renders the pain text URL as a clickable link, but when I send the same email to my O365 account it just shows up as
text, no link generated.  All in the same Windows 8 Mail App.
I ran the Windows 8 App Troubleshooter, I've reinstalled the Mail app,  I've removed and re-added the mail account.  Nothing fixes this.  Anyone know why?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Same problem for us, the link is also not rendered, if the mail is sent to an on-premise Exchange server.
Its only for plain-text messags, HTML-messages work fine.
Why is this problem ignored? The app is useless with that limitation.

  • HTML emails render as plain text.  Restarting Mail.app resolves the issue

I keep seeing this problem every day. Occasionally when I receive an HTML email (e.g. a newsletter), the HTML isn't rendered -- instead some sort of plain text equivalent is displayed, which is full of entity codes and URLs to all the images in the HTML. Clearly not right.
If I restart Mail.app when this occurs, the HTML email is ALWAYS rendered correctly. It's really annoying having to do this every day!
It seems like it could be to do with leaving Mail.app running when my Mac is in Sleep mode -- the issue always seems to occur when I wake the Mac. When I have restarted Mail.app after the issue occurs, all incoming HTML emails are rendered correctly.
Has anyone else seen this issue and do you know of a workaround? How do I submit a bug to Apple?
    Cheers,
    Olly

    Hi again:
The preference file is located in the home folder (~library>preferences). Occasionally (rare, but it happens) preference files become corrupted and then cause all sorts of odd behavior.

  • Safari doesn't display the correct fonts.

Safari doesn't display all fonts correctly. All that is displayed is a boxed A. See screenshot. All the other browsers (Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Omniweb, Camino) don't have this problem. I tried clearing the cache of Safari as well as the system font cache. I use FontExplorer X Pro 3.1 to manage my fonts. No other software has this kind of problems.

  • Safari, when I hover over a link, doesn't show the web address, +Hotmail qu

    Hi, two questions.
New to safari, when I hover over a link it doesn't display the web address, is there a way to turn this on or is it not available in Safari.
In regard to Hotmail, is there a way to synch up Hotmail with Mail in leopard so that when I click an email address it allows me to send via hotmail.
If not, how do you find out the email address, because when I click it, just takes me to mail and doesn't allow me to at least view what the email address is, so I can manually send it via Hotmail.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Issue with Gmail - Every Few Days it Doesn't Accept the Password

I am using a iPad 3G with Rogers (Canada) as the carrier. The nice fellow at the Apple Store set up a Gmail account for me using SMPT. For the first day - it worked fine. Then Google locked the account - and wanted to send me a verification number - thinking the device was a SmartPhone. Google then unlocked the account and everything was fine until for a few days and then I got a message that my password was not valid. Went on my PC - reset the password - made the change in Settings on the iPad and everything worked great. Yesterday - same message - password not working. Is anyone else having this issue? It's getting to be a pain to reset the thing all of the time. Any ideas?

Yes, I'm having this problem and was reading this for hopes of finding a solution.

  • TEXT EDIT EXPANDING DOESN'T DISPLAY THE INPUT CORRECTLY

    Hi everybody,
i have a dynamic form and a text-edit-field within, which i want to expand with the user input. if the input forces the field to go over to the next page, the text will be splitted, as i expected. So far so good! Removing and resetting the focus on the field (on the last page, where the last part of the input text is) causes the text to be displayed in a 'strange' way. The text jumps upwards and the last part of it can't be seen any longer. I have, for instance, to go with 'str+end' to correctly catch the ending and redisplay this returned part of the input again.
Does anybody have a clue of what can be done to force the text in the field to stay stady?
    Thanks a lot,
    Valerio

Sorry, i didn't mean to hurt your esthetic sense ;-)
This must be the normal behaviour of a Text-Edit-Field. I've noticed this many times.
Please gimme some hints...at least, whether it's possible to avoid this text jumping phenomenon or not.
    Thank you all,
    Valerio

  • Can you force a column to text so it doesn't truncate the leading 0

Many of our part numbers start with 0. When we export an APEX report to Excel, it truncates the leading 0. Is it possible to force a column to text so that it brings the 0 into excel?
    thanks
    Angie

    Angie,
There is a way around this if you are using an interactive report. Consider the following SQL.
    with test_data as(
      select '012345' part_num from dual
       union all
      select '054321' part_num from dual
       union all
      select '098765' part_num from dual
       union all
      select '076853' part_num from dual
    select td.part_num part_num_display
         , '="' || td.part_num || '"' part_num_download
from test_data tdI have a part_num_display and a part_num_download column. The reason for two columns is because I am going to display one column when the report is rendered in the web browser and display the other when there is a request to download the report. You will notice that i concatenated some characters to the beginning and end of the part_num_download column. This is so the column produces a value which looks like this ="012345". This is an excel expression to set the value of the cell to whatever is in between the quotation marks. The only thing left to do now is to add the conditions to the columns.
Go into your report attributes and then click on the display column and set the condition to: Request != Expression 1 and set Expression 1 to CSV.
Lastly go to the download column and set its display condition to Request = Expression 1 and set Expression 1 to CSV.
This tells the interactive report which column to render for either situation. I had to use this method for numbers with precision greather than two decimal places.

  • I just got my iphone and the international code comes up when i send texts, so it doesn't show the contact name. How do I fix that?

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP. I have sprint and it got all my contacts to transfer but now when I send out on a lot of my contacts it shows the number not the name, what do I do? I have tried almost everything!

Some friends have told me that their phone can last up to 2 days without charging??
If they are getting 2 days without charging, it's unlikely they use their device very much.
A full day is pretty good....and if I'm careful, I can easily get a full day of usage.
For me, normal is charging the iPhone mid afternoon at work, but I use it a lot.
My typical usage is 35 mins of listening to podcasts, checking email, checking my RSS feed, and checking a few apps while I ride my bike when I first get up.  Then listening to several podcasts at work.
I typically stream music while working out during my lunch hour and use the Men's Health Fitness app to track my progress.
By about 2pm I'm ready to charge the device as it's getting low (somewhere between 20% and 50%).
I leave bluetooth, Wi-FI, and location services turned on all the time.
Personally, I just do not see the point in going into settings to turn on the feature when I need it... just too much hassle.  All of my listening to podcasts and music is via Bluetooth.
I know I'm not the heaviest user, but I just do not see how anyone can realistically make it two days on a single charge, it makes me think they simply do not use the features of the device and would be just as well served with a basic or feature phone.

  • Plain text ON but anything pasted in is RTF

    Hello,
I often need to quote bits of text from a heavily-formatted Word doc in emails. Every time I paste a bit of text into an email, it goes in with all its formatting intact, which I don't want. I want it to be plain text like the rest of the email message.
In Mail's Prefs I have set my composing preference to be Plain Text, but this doesn't make any difference.
Also, all of my signatures appear in some sort of style rather than as plain text, even though I always set them to plain text when I create them.
Seems Mail thinks it knows better than I do how to format my emails. I hate it when applications take over like that.
Does anyone know the secret to turning off this "feature" in Mail?
    Thanks
iMac Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Now that you ask, I find the situation is even stranger than I thought.
New compose window, Format menu says Make Rich Text
Copy formatted text from Word, paste in (Command-V). It appears as plain text, menu stays the same.
Paste in same text using Shift-Command-V to give a quote level, and it comes in with all formatting intact, but menu stays the same.
Paste it in (Coammnd-V) and use the Format menu to increase its quote level and it stays plain text.
Looks like I'll have to do the two-step to get what I want. Or switch to another app I suppose. But I like Mail.

  • How to send a plain text and HTML email at once?

    Hi all,
I'm attempting to use cfmailpart to send a HTML and plain text email all in the same cfmail script.  I'm using Outlook and Gmail to test.  I temporarily changed my Outlook settings to "read all standard mail in plain text," but it does not read the plain text cfmailpart of the email, it just attempts to format the text from the HTML email and display the links.  If I remove the HTML cfmailpart from my cfmail script, the plain text version is delivered, but Outlook removes extra line breaks that I actually want to keep intact, and some of the other formatting is improperly rendered.  Is there a better way to make sure email clients hold the plain text formatting (even though there really isn't any formatting with plain text) and a better way to test?  The HTML version looks great in both Gmail and Outlook.
    Thanks!

Use the wraptext attribute of the cfmailpart tag to add line breaks.
