In Safari, PayPal login is suspicious

I recently had a bout with a virus on my iMac, and used AdwareMedic, which appears to have erased all signs of it. I also updated Safari to 8.0.4. I noticed that when I went to the PayPal login site, there was already a login name and password present. It was not a login used in my household. When clicked on, the login message was something is wrong with the login info. I used two other browsers, FireFox and Chrome, to visit the PayPal login, and didn't see this login. Is this a phishing attempt related to the adware virus?

Launch the Keychain Access application and use the search box in the toolbar to find password items related to Paypal. Delete any that you don't use.

  • Safari 4.0.5 can not add yahoo/gmail/ebay/paypal login pages as a top site

I have set to open 'top sites'(as start page) when I open a new safari window. I used to have yahoo mail, gmail, ebay, paypal login pages as few of my top sites. It worked fine until recently. After a total reset, safari started crashing(pretty weird). I tried several things, like: empty cache, reset, and even removing the topsites.plist and com.apple.safari.plist. Finally, I concurred this by removing all safari related files and by reinstalling. Then it did not crash yet. However, I was not able to get my above mentioned favorite sites back on top sites. I tried dragging the favicon, saving the link and dragging, and by visiting the same site like 20+ times. Still I have not been able to get them in top sites. When I tried to drag the favicons: they just don't stick. Moreover, I have checked my add-ons(plug-in) and looks normal to me. I hope some body else have experienced the same and hope there is a solution for this. My OS and every thing else seems to be fine.
Thanks much in advance who ever is going to bail me out.
    Please help me out!

I have already tried to troubleshoot on 'unexpected quit safari: add-ons'. Also I have uninstalled and installed the latest flash player.

  • Paypal login won't accept password (thru WP Simple Paypal plugin on a sales page)

I have a Wordpress website with a sales page set up using the WP Simple Paypal Plugin which is configured according to the tutorial for the plugin. When I test it by trying to purchase an item on the page ,  it opens up a Paypal login window which does not accept my password (of my personal Paypal account)I know the  password is correct because I can log in to Paypal itself using my personal account , no problem.I believe the problem is on the Paypal end, not Wordpress - please advise.

won't let me log in to paypal

  • Safari Auto-login/ Auto-fill problem

    Hi!
I recently updated my safari after which I have been unable to auto login to my yahoo, gmail etc accounts. I have checked my safari preferences and all 3 auto-fill webform tabs are clicked. Also, when I go into yahoo, it does not prompt me to ask if i want to save my password. For my other accounts e.g gmail, they prompt me and my password + user-ids are still saved, just that i have to press the sign in button.
Also, it stays signed it as long as i am on safari. However, if I were to quit safari and use safari again, it goes back to square one and no longer keeps me signed it.
What can I do to enable safari to auto-login for all my accounts?
    Thanks!

I have asked a similar question several times before, and I have the answers varied from the typical I do not have that problem to its a security feature incorporated in Safari.
I tend to think it is a new feature added ito safari n the last several months (via an update).
The bottom line is I am NO longer able to stay logged into various websites if I quit safari, even though the websites have the feature available that should allow a user to stay logged in for 2 weeks.
The only way I can now stay logged in for an extended period of time is to NEVER quit Safari.
That is not an option for me.

  • Menus popping and keeping me from clicking/Safari wants login all the time

I bought this iMac in Jan. I suffered through viruses and hacking with four XP's. I bought a Mac so as to never be in that **** again. Well I've been reading sysprofile logs and watching the records of apps I've never used. Today I saw fax verifications when I've never sent nor received one. My folders and files change all the time. For example, right now my desktop is covered in all the logs I saved and filed in my documents files. When I open them, presto magic, the info I saved has changed to something else. Sometimes as many as 30 files pop open one by one on the desktop while iTunes plays the song Crazy. I am not making this up. Since I am new to iMac I didn't even recognize that someone had used Grab to put a picture of "share folders" with a "start" button in the middle of my desktop and it cannot be deleted. I know you think it's because I'm a novice, but, believe me, I got enough ed with those XP's to work for Microsoft. I called Apple and told them that I either need a white hat hacker or a priest to fix this baby. I mean I don't even know how to begin to tell someone over the phone all the things this crazy machine does. But for now, since I am trying to continue my online biz, I only ask that someone please, for the love of God, tell me 1) how to stop the pop-up menus that keep me from clicking anywhere--the menus don't even make sense or even remotely apply to what I'm doing. It's a pointer fight at every click. I have gone over sys prefs a hundred times. And, 2) how to keep Safari from popping a menu down every few minutes asking for a new kind of named login no matter how I change the keychain. Yes, everything is locked up tight. No one shares or has access to my computer, and yet Big Bang is saying "Goodnight" to me and I've never played it or even knew I had it. I read a lot of pages in this forum and read a lot of familiar sounding stuff. I feel so overwhelmed, disappointed and depressed. Thank you.
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   I'm sorry this is long. I feel desperate because you should see the notebooks I already have.

  • Safari autofills login field while in Private Browsing mode (and it shouldn't)

I've come across a strange behaviour when using Safari in "Private Browsing" mode (under Lion).
Recently, I'd visited a website which required logging in. Then I logged out, and after some time, tried to log in again. Somehow, my login name (which is an email address) was already in the respective field. "OK, that's strange, and it shouldn't happen," I thought and cleared Safari's Cache and Website Data. Interestingly, this wouldn't work either, and my login info was still accessible to Safari. I then went to Users/.../Library and trashed everything related to Safari that I could find. But to no avail. Now, at this moment I was surprised and a bit frustrated! Then I tried to access the same website using a second Mac. Login field remained unfilled in Safari there. Apparently, this issue is system-specific.
Obviously, login data had been stored somewhere as a cookie or in a plist file or whatever. Question is, why on Earth does this happen in PRIVATE BROWSING mode, and where exactly this data is being stored? Anyone?
    Thanks!

History is a permanent record of where you have been. This is not kept when you are using Private browsing. The Back button contains the last sequence of links that you clicked which is not the same as history. The back button site chain will be kept for convenience (else how could you back up in a browsing session?). When you turn off private browsing the back button chain will be discarded. There will be no history and no back button chain.

  • Safari trouble login and bookmarks, question placing .apps in diff. folders

Hi, I am having a little bit of trouble with safari I need some help.
I downloaded opera to try out a different web browser... all was well.. Then I tried going back to safari, safari was still and still is my default browers. Anyway, I tried loging into myspace.com, to be exact, and it just sent me to the login page again. I tried login on opera, it worked.
I went to a friends mac and tried login on safari, it worked there. Yet on my mac it still does not work.
So, I deleted my cache, and reset safari, tried again still did not work. Maybe I should restart my computer?
I can get in on opera but that does not make sense.
Also, I noticed my bookmarks are missing, maybe this is after the cache thing. I don't know I am kind of new to macs. But, I did notice that the bookmarks that I had, including the pre-installed mac ones are listed under Safari bookmarks, in opera.app. Is Opera taking over my safari?
Also, this is kind of different. But I have quite a bit of apps on my computer, and I decided to list them into different files under applications. for example opera and safari are under application/internet apps... Could this affect performace, and does everything HAVE TO BE under plain applications, I would not think so, I mean some big programs automatically make a file.
Anyway, help with safari would be awesome! Anyway to reload it or something
    Thanks!

Yes, you can reinstall. Directions may be found on this earlier thread. The only change to the instructions will be running the 10.4.7 combo update.
As with all reinstalls, it's a good practice to make a backup of your system beforehand, mitigating any unforeseen problems during the installation.
Post back and let me know how it worked out.

  • Safari wants login everytime it's launched since upgrading to beta 4

I received the UNLOCK KEYCHAIN dialogue box saying: Please Enter Your Keychain Password; Safari wants to use your keychain "login". This seems to happen every time I open Safari or select an additional tab. Help me figure out how to turn this off! It's a pain in the ***.

"Open Keychain Access.app in your Utilities folder. Highlight one of familiar keychain entries on the right side or type a familiar name in the spotlight panel. Then double click the entry. When the panel opens, select "Access Control".
In the "Always allow access" panel, click on the +, then navigate to Safari in your Applications folder. Save changes.
Just for good measure, go to the Keychains Menu>Keychain First-Aid and select "repair". If any errors appear, rerun until you get a clean pass.
Close Keychain Access and restart Safari."
So, I have to do this every time I go to a new site that requires a password ? Or this there a way to handle this automatically? Is there a preference I'm missing? This started when I upgraded from Safari 3.2.1 to beta 4. BTW, Where is the "stop loading button now located? I can't seem to find it.
    Thank you

  • Mavericks - Safari WiFi login window on startup

When I boot up my MBP, a Safari window with my apartment's WiFi login page opens automatically. It's not a full-blown Safari window, but it seems it's a "feature" for connecting to WiFi networks that require login credentials (similar to some hotels/public networks that require you to pass through a page before you can actually access the Internet). The window has a button in the bottom right corner that says "Cancel" until you log in, at which point it says "Done" and allows you to close the window once the login has occurred.
Anyways, I am annoyed by the number of times I have to enter in the same info into this window (my network requires it nearly every time I wake my MBP up from sleep; it's a nightmare). If any of you are familiar with this login window, is there a way to set up autofill? I'm not sure where to begin as the window doesn't show a URL or anything so I can't really manually enter it into the autofill settings. Even a setting to disable the window from popping up automatically might be helpful so I could just log in through the browser and more easily setup autofill. If any of you are familiar with this feature, your help would greatly be appreciated.
BTW, this didn't happen until I upgrade to Mavericks. At first it was handy to make sure I connected to the network first thing when my computer booted up, but now it's popping up constantly and you can't minimize it until you decide either to cancel the network login or fill out the form. I haven't been able to find a setting for it, and it's driving me crazy!

  • !0.5.6 Safari and login to discussions

    Hi!
Since the upgrade to 10.5.6 I can't log into the Discussions here using Safari. I thought at first it had something to do with Safari but even if I use an earlier version I can't login. With Firefox I could login and also on an earlier Leopard version. This is frustrating as I am not so keen on using Firefox. Should I downgrade to 10.5.5?

    Hi Barry!
I have done what you've suggested and also general macos maintenance. This login problem is the only trouble I have had since upgrading to 10.5.6. The problem is also on both my computers as both are upgraded.
What happens is that when i log in using my Apple ID I get rerouted to the Create New Account page. The page doesn't look quite right either. I wish I could show you a screen dump of it.
I have also created a new Apple ID but that one doesn't work any different from my original one when using Safari on 10.5.6
As I see it I only have 2 options. #1 downgrade, #2 use Firefox and hope that there will come a new better upgrade os Macos or Safari.

  • ICloud hangs when attempting login - iOS safari web login

    Hi all
Looking for some help. When someone wants to share a reminders list with me I recieve and email acknowledging that they would like to share. I'm then prompted to click on the icon I the email - which takes me into an iCloud login page on the web through safari on ios.
When I attempt to enter my Id and password it just hangs endlessly. It won't login.
If I attempt to do this on my Mac however, it works fine and will login allowing me to allow the share in iCloud.
And ideas on how to fix the hang at login?

Does that mean that in order to accept and initiate the sharing function from the email invite, I have to be on my desktop computer?
I'm surprised that apple would set it up this way.

  • Paypal login problems

    Hi,
We have an S160 acting as web proxy and I'm fairly new to it. We can get to www.paypal.com but when we login it just states 'Please make sure you enter your email address and password correctly' and prompts for login details again.
The applicable log (I believe) is:
    1255756501.097 0 192.168.1.149 TCP_DENIED/407 1668 CONNECT tunnel://paypal.112.2o7.net:443/ - NONE/- - OTHER-NONE-Active_Directory-NONE-NONE-NONE <-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-> -
I have put 'paypal.112.2o7.net, www.paypal.com, etc' in the bypass list and even made a no authentication url identity with these hosts, however none of this has worked. I am using an open policy allowing port 443.
Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions.
    Linc.

Try a no auth identity based on a single client ip address, then have that identity apply to both access policy and decryption policy (if https is enabled).
The error is an auth error. So some pages redirect to https. Any https request should not required authentication, since data is encrypted, unless you are using explicit forward proxy or auth based on client ip address.

  • Safari - Hotmail Login Problem!

When I use the MSN messenger mail icon to log into Hotmail. The login gets stuck in a loop occasionally, and the only way to solve it is to delete the windows live cookies. Is there a proper fix for this?
I have read that signing out every time from Hotmail prevents this. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Make sure your cookies are "on". Go to that page. No need to do anything there, no need to click on anything; ignore the crazy "advice"; better still don't read it! (See my post further down the page if you like). Just allow that page to finish loading. Close that page. You will now be able to reach HoTMaiL for the rest of your session.

  • How to get safari to remember login and password after I said do not remember

I went to a website through Safari and logged in and accidentally hit Never remember for this site and now I cannot get safari to remember the login and password. I have gone through preferences/passwords and the site is not listed and it will not allow me to add a site.  I would love help with this since I log on to this site just about every day! Any suggestions?

It might be a corrupted keychain ...
Open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Open Keychain Access then select Passwords on the left.
Right or control click a keychain then click Delete.
Back to Safari. Login to the website you want the password autofilled.
Click Yes when prompted to save that data to a new keychain.
Keep in mind, not all websites espcially financial institutions allow the autofill feature.
