Hi Manish,
Based on your description, we can try enabling the following policy:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer\
Prevent access to drives from My Computer
If we enable this policy, users cannot view the contents of the selected drives in My Computer and Windows Explorer. Also, they cannot use the
Run dialog box, the Map Network Drive dialog box, or the Dir command to view the directories on these drives.
However, this policy does not prevent users from using programs to access local and network drives. And, it does not prevent them from using the Disk Management snap-in to
view and change drive characteristics.
Regarding this policy, the following article can be referred to for more information.

  • SBS2011 Exchange Migration (Server configuration change is temporarily preventing access)

    Greetings,
I 've begun an exchange migration from SBS2011 (Exch 2010) to 2013 Exchange.  I am on this step of the deployment assistant, for reference,  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exdeploy2013/Checklist?state=2419-W-EQBEAgAAQAAAAQEAAQAAAAg~
I can login and access any users mailbox with the respective credentials if their mailbox is on the SBS exchange server.
Ive migrated a couple test users, and while I can access their owa box if I browse to the localhost of the 2013 server, I cannot access their mailbox internally nor externally if I go to the external FQDN of the owa site.  All other users with mailboxes
still on the 2010 exchange work.
I get this message for those with mailboxes on the new server: A server configuration change is temporarily preventing access to your account. Please close all Web browser windows and try again in a few minutes. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
On current situation, please check if you move mailboxes to the new Database properly. Please refer to Olaf’s
solution in following thread and check if can help you.

  • I have a broken screen on my 2008 MacBook, I want to access the hard drive what are my options?

I Have a 2008 MacBook with a broken screen, how can I access the hard drive?

    1. Connect an external monitor. If everything else is working fine on the MacBook, you'll have full access to your computer. Or
    2. If the MacBook has a FireWire port, use Target Disk Mode (http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1661) to mount the HDD and then copy the files to the second Mac. Or
    3. Remove the HDD, put it in a $20 USB caddy, and connect it to another Mac for file-retrieval.
By the way, this forum is devoted to vintage Classic operating systems that Apple retired over a decade ago. More people will see your posts if you put them in a forum devoted to your particular level of OS X (Leopard or above for a 2008 MacBook).

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Does not boot When Back up drive removed

I have a windows Server 2008 R2 Standard server RAID 10 installed.  I  have a non raid drive installed as the backup HD.  The Backup drive is now failing. When I went to switch it with a new one the system does not boot and is asking for
a boot drive.  I have been searching for solutions and cannot find any.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
Could you confirm if your boot volume is on that non-RAID disk (maybe 2 volumes on that disk and one of them is the boot volume)?
At current situation, first please test to connect the failed disk back to the device and see if it will help.
Or you may need to run a boot-up repair with an installation disk.

    I've tried everything, any ideas
    Josh

I am familiar with the instructions for sharing files and have followed them (several times I might add).
My problem is that the information that I place in the WINS tab ( in the Network Preference Pane) disappears when the iMac is re-started. This information (especially the Workgroup name) must appear when the computer re-boots. It doesn't and I have to re-enter the information in the iMac before I can access its files from a Windows PC.
I have searched the internet for days trying to find an answer to this question. Although the problem seems to be fairly common, no solutions have been found.

    Hi guys.
We have a server where we have sucessfully installed 2012 r2 std. We wanted to put TMG on it and we found information it supported only on 2008 r2 OS. We have tried reinstalling the OS on this server but we are having some issue in setup phase.
2012 r2 installation went thru with no problems, 2008 r2 installation stops at 20% with error: required driver coult not be installed. There's a SUPERMICRO motherboard on this server with Intel RAID controller. The IT guys which have tried to installed 2008
r2 downloaded the latest drivers for this motherboard on the supermicro site. They needed to give the inf files durring the installation otherwise disk was not recognized.
We have also unplugged any USB devices, and downloaded a fresh iso of 2008 r2 std, but still it gets stucked at 20% with driver error. Any hints what should we do to push the installation forward?

  • Error in accessing ARD client 2.2.1 from ARD admin 3.2 via Airport

    Hi all,
I was successfullly accessing mac-mini machine having ARD client 2.2.1 which was connected to ethernet cable from ARD admin 3.2. But now when I am trying to access same mac-mini machine which is now connected to airport, I am getting following error:
Machine is having old ARD client/agent.
Even though, ARD 3.2 supports ARD 2.2.1, why am I getting this error? How to resolve this error?
    Thanks,
    Palav

Because Chicken of the VNC doesn't use the full ARD client, only the VNC portion. The error you reported:
Machine is having old ARD client/agent.
is exactly what I'd expect when accessing a 2.2 client from ARD 3.2. You will need to update the client version to 3.2, and that will require that the ports in the Airport base station be open and forwarded so that the ARD administration application can get full access to perform the client upgrade.

  • ODBC error generating temp file: "Unable to create file buffer" Server 2008

    Guys:
I have a 32 bit application that has been running for years with no problems under XP and MS Server 2003.
To access the oracle DB we use MFC drivers and ODBC system datasources for Oracle 10g and 11g.
We recently moved from MS Server 2003 to Server 2008 Standard Edition (32 bit).
We also upgraded our DB from 10g to 11g R2.
Now the application gets intermittent errors when accessing the database like the one below:
    "Unable to create file buffer"
I looked this up on other forums and it seems to be a problem with the ODBC driver creating uniquely names temp files
in the system temp folder. This was a documented problem some years ago and was fixed but now seems to have
reared its ugly head for Server 2008.
I'm not sure who the culprit is: 2008 32-bit or the 11g drivers.
I just know that some of our transactions fail because ODBC has problems and this is killing us.
As you see we are still running on a 32 bit OS and have created the ODBC DSNs using odbcad32.exe.
The application connects to the DB and works MOST OF THE TIME but random transactions now fail because of this error.
If I try to kill all of the *.tmp files from the windows temp directory it seems to solve the problem for a while but then the problem comes back rather quickly.
Any help here would be apprciated.

This may solve the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/130719
Don't just delete the offending file...it will be recreated eventually. Post a dummy file to prevent the error from reoccurring.
My only question is why you put more info on database and ODBC versions here and not in your SR? I'll note this in your SR for ya ;)

  • Printing issues when printing to Server 2008 R2 Print Server

We have a problem with netwok printing that encompasses many different areas and versions of Windows OSes so I will be posting this in a few different places.
Let me lay this out for you. We have a single Server 2008 R2 print server with 300 printers of various models. This print server has both 32 and 64-bit drivers installed for every printer. For the HP printers we are using the HP Universal Printing PCL 6
(version 61.94.3.37) and for the Ricoh printers we are using their PCL6 driver for universal printing version 3.5. All drivers run in Isolation mode and no printer gets published to AD.
We have a mix of Windows clients printing to these printers, both XP Pro and Windows 7 32 and 64-bit.
Now for the problems: The other day one Isolation host on the server went crazy, processing was hitting 100% and memory was fluctuating and growing a lot. After investigating a little that isolation host was having issues accessing the Ricoh Driver (which
was 3.4 at the time). In an attempt to resolve the issue we updated the driver to V. 3.5. This seemed to fix the isolation issues and things calmed down however this is the beginning of many other issues for the clients. Both Windows OS versions (XP and 7)
don't seem to be either downloading and installing the updated driver and/or doing so correctly. Clients are now experiencing extremely slow printing, applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel and others open slowly and it can take 2-3 minutes for print dialog
boxes to open. In all cases it seems that we have to have a tech delete the printer(s), delete the driver and then re-install the printer to make things better but for some reason, which is really unknown, this process doesn't work for every machine and on
some we can't even remove the old drivers at all without booting into SafeMode and doing it that way.
With all of that said, are there any suggestions as to why the clients aren't downloading and installing the drivers from the server correctly? How to avoid these issues when we need to upgrade the drivers on the server in the future? Most importantly right
now, are there any recommendations or scripts on how to force the deletions of the printer, driver, reset the print spoolers and then re-add the printers in a more automated fashion?
I have played with both wmic, pnputil and printuidll and am trying to put something together but without a set solution that will work consistently it becomes a lot more difficult.

We are experiencing a very similar issue.
Windows Server 2008 R2. Printers are deployed over group policy.
Clients range from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp environment also connects to these endpoints.
We have A wide assortment of HP printers, and Ricoh Printers.
For the ricoh's we have been historically using the PCL6 drivers for the individual device type (not universal print). Up till recently, it all was working fine, until about some time in the middle of june, when everything just seemed to go crazy.
The issue was resolved by moving off from the PCL 6 drivers and using the PCL5e driver counterparts on all of our ricoh printers.
It would crash XenDesktop applications, it would crash office applications.
The print spooler would lock up, even if the ricoh printers were not actually used, just as long as they were loaded.
Even after loading PCL5 on the servers, some of the clients would simply not download the PCL5 version of the driver from the print server. In order to resolve this, I have created the steps below. Be advised, this may possibly cause damage on your system.
We just found it worked great for us. Local printers will likely have to be manually reinstalled after this.
    Directions
    Stop the print spooler
Open C:\Windows\System32\Spool and delete the following
    All files in SERVERS
    All files in PRINTERS
    All files in drivers
    All files in prtprocs
    Start the print spooler
Open a command prompt as administrator, and run the following command
    Cscript C:\windows\system32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US\prndrvr.vbs -x
This should further delete all print drivers.
Open a command prompt as a standard user (not administrator) and run the following
    Gpupdate
Now wait. It takes a while, but the printers will slowly start to repopulate.
I am still not sure what is going on with the PCL6 drivers for ricoh, and why this issue is happening. I'm guessing it has something to do with the Ricoh auto update that is included in their pcl6 drivers. Maybe some sort of auto update happened recently.

  • Driver for Microsoft SQL SERVER 2008 (MII 12.0.X)

    Hi,
we have MII 12.0.11 and we need to access a database on Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
I need a suggestion on the driver  choice...because the Microsoft JDBC  drivers for SQL Server 2008  on the following links officially need at least JDK 5...and for what I know our MII version is based on Netweaver 7.0 on Java 1.4.

We are currently using this driver (with database on Microsoft  SQL Server 2005)
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c47053eb-3b64-4794-950d-81e1ec91c1ba
which, on the contrary, doesn't support SQL Server 2008.
I don't know how to proceed...
    Thanks in advance

  • How to install IE8 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter?

    Hello.
Can anybody tell me, how to install IE8 on 2008 R2 Datacenter?
I've downloaded this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-8-details.aspx for "Windows Server 2008 64-bit and more..", removed IE11, IE10, IE9 from installed updates, and runned "dism /online /disable-feature
    /featurename:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64".
And nothing helps. I've got a message "Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on this operating system".

    you can't "install" IE8 on WS2008R2, nor on Windows7 - because those OS's shipped with IE8.
IE is an OS component, and so when you "upgrade" or "downgrade" IE, you are affecting an OS component.
What this means is that the "IE8" download you are trying to apply, is actually IE8 for WinXP or maybe WinVista.
You can usually "downgrade" Win7 back to IE8, by uninstalling the newer "upgrade" of IE - this causes the OS to automatically attempt to revert to the prior IE version.
This reversion assumes/requires a healthy OS and component store (CBS), including all the pkgmgr file needed to revert to component.
Sometimes, the component store is damaged, or is missing files.
you may need to check the CBS logfiles, and may need to perform SFC /scannow
You may need to use CheckSUR to repair system health.

  • When installing Server 2008 Datacenter from disc, I get the error message "Windows could not parse or process the unattent answer file for pass [specialize].

This is a clean install from s disc onto a 3TB GPT drive. This is for testing. I'm not concerned with finding a more practical solution for this installation.
There is no image or answer file involved. But at the "Completing Installation" phase, I receive this error message about an answer file.
Has anyone else expecrienced this problem? The only results I find here are regarding actual imaging with answer files.
    EDIT: [Redacted]
EDIT 2: Since this now happens with every single installation of Server 2008 on this system, I feel the need to keep this open and elaborate on my situation.
I originally installed Server 2008 on the 2TB partition of this 3TB drive. The partition type was MBR. I reinstalled it (there was a false alarm for malicious software) since it was a fresh install without updates or anything else installed. And for the
    second time, it installed fine.
I decided to make the most of my 3TB drive and try GPT partitioning. So I went into the command prompt > diskpart > ran "clean" on the disk, then "convert GPT"
That is when I tried another install of Server 2008 and received this error message about an answer file.
I decided to convert it back to MBR and get on with what I wanted to test in the first place. So I went into Diskpart again, ran "clean", rand "convert MBR" and started the install. But this resulted in the same error message about an
    answer file.
I went back to Diskpart, "clean"ed the disk, ran "convert dynamic" to make sure it was dynamic, then tried the install again, with the same result.
Now, I've tried installing on the disk as GPT, MBR basic and MBR dynamic. I've tried a different installation disc, as well. I got the same result. At this point, I'm going to switch hard drives, but I'm still open to input. Thanks for reading!

    Hi,
As you swapped the hard disk, whether the same issue occurs again if you redo the same steps?
I asked "OEM or retail" because of this known issue:
"Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]" error message when you perform an in-place upgrade in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2425962
An answer file may already contain in the disc which causes the issue.
If issue still exists you can click Shift + F10 during the installation process to see the log. Check if the installation error for detailed information.

  • Local Network Connection Problem with SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
I have CRM application which uses SQL server 2008. Weird thing is that I have no problems connecting from client machines to the server when using a particular router (via LAN) and when I upgrade the firmware of the same router (A common open source firmware
which is used by many also works perfect apart from mentioned problem) and restart the server, the connection cannot be established. I get Error 40.
When i downgrade the firmware and restart the server, the connection works again.
Please note that I am absolutely not touching any configuration of the server. Also the CRM software allows remote connections from public IPs which this feature works fine with both downgraded and upgraded firmwares.
As for my understanding, the routers do not block ports in LAN connections. So how can I diagnose the reason for this connection problem?

    Hi Leony83,
Please also help to check Windows Event Log information regarding this issue, so that we can do further investigation. In additin, here is the general steps to troubleshoot SQL Server Error 40 issue. Please see:

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Replication - not applying snapshot and not updating all repliacted columns

We are using transactional replicating on SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) using a remote distributor. We are replicating from BaanLN, which is an ERP application to up to 5 subscribers, all using push publications.
Tables can range from a couple million rows to 12 million rows and 100's of GBs in size.
And it's due to the size of the tables that it was designed with a one publisher to one table architecture.
Until recently it has been working very smooth (last four years)) but we have come across two issues I have never encountered.
While this has happen a half dozen times before, it last occurred a couple weeks ago when I was adding three new publications, again a one table per publication architecture.
We use standard SS repl proc calls to create the publications, which have been successful for years.
On this occasion replication created the three publications, assigned the subscribers and even generated the new snapshot for all three new publications.
However,  while it appeared that replication had created all the publications correctly from end to end, it actually only applied one of the three snapshot and created the new table on both of the new subscribers (two on each of the
publications).  It only applied the snapshot to one of the two subscribers for the second publications, and did not apply to any on the third.
I let it run for three hours to see if it was a back log issue.
Replication was showing commands coming across when looking at the sync verification at the publisher and
it would even successfully pass a tracer token through each of the three new publications, despite there not being tables on either subscriber on one of the publishers and missing on one of the subscribers on another.
I ended up attempting to reinitialize roughly a dozen times, spanning a day, and one of the two remaining publications was correctly reinitialized and the snapshot applied, but the second of the two (failed) again had the same mysterious result, and
again looked like it was successful based on all the monitoring.
So I kept reinitializing the last and after multiple attempts spanning a day, it too finally was built correctly.
Now the story only get a little stranger.  We just found out yesterday that on Friday the 17th
at 7:45, the approximate time started the aforementioned deployment of the three new publications,
we also had three transaction from a stable and vetted publication send over all changes except for a single status column.
This publication has 12 million rows and is very active, with thousands of changes daily.
, The three rows did not replicate a status change from a 5 to a 6.
We verified that the status was in fact 6 on the publisher, and
5 on both subscribers, yet no messages or errors.  All the other rows successfully updated.
We fixed it by updating the publication from 6 back to 5 then back to 6 again on those specific rows and it worked.
The CPU is low and overall latency is minimal on the distributor.
From all accounts the replication is stable and smooth, but very busy.
The issues above have only recently started.  I am not sure where to look for a problem, and to that end, a solution.

I suspect the problem with the new publication/subscriptions not initializing may have been a result of timeouts but it is hard to say for sure.  The fact that it eventually succeeded after multiple attempts leads me to believe this.  If this happens
again, enable verbose agent logging for the Distribution Agent to see if you are getting query timeouts.  Add the parameters
-OutputVerboseLevel 2 -Output C:\TEMP\DistributionAgent.log to the Distribution Agent Run Agent job step, rerun the agent, and collect the log.
If you are getting query timeouts, try increasing the Distribution Agent -QueryTimeOut parameter.  The default is 1800 seconds.  Try bumping this up to 3600 seconds.
Regarding the three transactions not replicating, inspect MSrepl_errors in the distribution database for the time these transactions occurred and see if any errors occurred.
