In Shared services, Log Files taking lot of Disk space

Hi Techies,
I have a question. Its like the Logs in BI+ in Shared Service Server is taking lot of Disk space about 12 GB a day.
Following files are taking more space
Shared Service-Security-Client log ( 50 MB )
Server-message-usage Service.log ( About 7.5 GB )
why this is happening. Any suggestions to avoid this.
Thanks in Advance,
Sonu

  • What determines the location of the shared services log files

I've just completed an install and configuration of Shared Services 9.2.1. The shared services log files, SharedServices_Security.log, SharedServices_Admin.log, etc., are being written to the C:\WINDOWS\system32\null\logs\SharedServices9 path. These files should be written to the Tomcat application folders in the Shared Services home, CSS_HOME, folder. e.g. d:\hyperion\sharedservices\9.2\appserver\installedapps\tomcat\5.0.28. This is according to the Shared Services installation documentation.
Is there any way to get these log files written to the d: drive? The following references sharedservices.logdir from the hsslogger.properties file but I don't see where a value is set that I can change.
    log4j.appender.FILE.File=${sharedservices.logdir}${file.separator}SharedServices_Security.log
    Thanks,

    Hi there!
Are you looking for the AOM log file?
    By default it´s located at:
    SIEBEL_ROOT\ENTERPRISE\SIEBEL_SERVER\log
If you can´t find the AOM log files here, try to check the "Log directory" server parameter value.

  • Apex/OHS issue:log files in opmn consume disk space

    Hi.
I have installed OHS from Companion CD (10g Rel1) and the new Apex 3.0.
There seems to be a problem because log files in opmn/logs are eating up my disk space. Apparently there's something missing or not configured yet.
    The exact error message is:

Please help ...! Thanks in advance ....!

    Hi,
I believe this is due to a conflict with something else using that port number (6100). One solution would be to edit the opmn config file and change the port from 6100 to something else (such as 6101).

  • Console Log files taking up 7gb of space.

I am trying to clear up some space on an old eMac. I have come accross two log files one called console.log.0 which is taking up 1 gb, and console.log.3 which is taking up 5.8gb. Both of these files are located in Macintosh HD/Libary/Logs/Console/emac (emac is the username). What are these files for, and is there anyway I can take back this space?
    Thanks, James.

go ahead and trash them. or open the Console app, and clear the log files.

  • Change size hyperion shared services log file

    Hello Experts,
I´d like to change (decrase) the size of the sharedservices_security.log.
    There are always 5 files sharedservices_security.log + sharedservices_security.log.2 - sharedservices_security.log.5 (size of one file is 51,201 kb).
How can I change the sharedservices_security.log size?
We have EPM 11.1.1.3 (Essbase / HFM / Planning) on WINServer2003.
    Thanks a lot
    Regards
    kfor

    Have a look at <HYPERION_HOME>\deployments\<app_server>\SharedServices9\config\HSSLogger.properties
Look at the MaxFileSize parameter for each log.
Restart web app if you make any changes

  • Sync Services Log file very large

    user>library>application support>sync services>local
My Sync Services log file was over 111 Gb. It appears to grow in size every day. I have reset SyncServices per Apple. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I even deleted the contents of the local folder (not recommended per apple, but seems fine) and still my syncservices.log grows and is taking over my hard drive.
I use Entourage and Sync Services is used to Sync iCal/Address book (then for my iPhone sync).
Any suggestions to stop this out of control log?!?

    Hi,
Increasing the size of the redo logfile size may reduce the number of switches as it takes time to fill the file up but your system's redo generatin will stil be the same. Reduce the frequent commits.
Use the following notes to further narrow down the possible root cause.

Not sure you'll see the sql statements however you can find information on the ULS logs here:

  • Mmp services log files rotation

    Hi,
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-5.02 (built Oct 12 2007; 32bit)

    SunOS mta01 5.10 Generic_120011-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240
I'm trying to find out what setting controls mmp services log file rotation and how to change it. Presently, it appears rotation take place daily and files are kept forever.
    ImapProxy_<date>.log
    AServices_<date>.log
I would prefer to only keep these files for a week or so.
    Should I configure:
    local.schedule.prune_mmp = "45 23 * * * /usr/bin/find /var/opt/SUNWmsgsr/log -name ImapProxy\* -atime +3 -exec rm {} \; "
    local.schedule.prune_mmp.enable = 1
    Thanks.

    {code}
    /usr/bin/find /var/opt/SUNWmsgsr/log/ -name 'ImapProxy_*.log' -mtime +6 -exec rm {} \; "
You would need to write/enable a similar rule to prune the AServices_*.log files as well.

  • Temp files eating up all disk space on SCSM 2012 R2 install

    Hello Everyone,
    Problem
Under this path SCSM is creating a ton of temp files using up all disk space (C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\System Center Service Manager 2010)  All files are .bin and .hash files.  I just cleaned out 120 GBs
of files which accumulated over the period of 30 days.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?  This was not a problem when we were on server 2008 R2.  When we migrated SCSM management server to server 2012 r2 it when problem started.

  • Does Spotlight use a lot of disk space?

I'm new to Macs — in fact, my first one hasn't arrived yet — and I'm wondering if Spotlight will tie up a lot of disk space? I'm getting a MacBook Pro with a 100GB drive (modest by desktop standards), and I've noticed that Windows search products (e.g., Google Desktop, MSN Desktop) can create 3-5 GB of data after indexing even a modest 30GB hard drive. If Spotlight is going to "waste" gigs of space on my limited laptop drive, I might look into disabling it. Thanks.

Do not worry about it. On my book disk (100Gb with 60Gb occupied) spotlight uses the following space:
    big:~ mtsouk$ ls -l /.Spotlight-V100/

  • Application cannot start because it cannot create needed files. Not enough disk space

    Hi,
I have adobe director 11.5 and Macromedia MX 2004 versions installed in my machine. The projector created from the MX 2004 version used to work properly even after the 11.5 upgrade. I recently got the error  "Application cannot start because it cannot create needed files. Not enough disk space", whenever I run the projector. Has anyone come across this issue before?
    Thanks,
    Nandhini

Where is the projector located?  Do you have read/write permissions in that folder?  This is a problem I have seen if I am running a projector on a network share where the projector will not be allowed to save files (temp files etc) in that folder.  Even if you don;t think it needs to save these files, it will come up with this error.  Try copying the file to your local machine and see if it works better.  If you are already running it on your local machine, and in a "safe" location within your user folder, then this is not the answer you are looking for and something else is going wrong.

  • Cbs.log file taking up over 40gb

    Hi All,
Been running windows 8 for a few months on a fresh install on an ssd.. recently I keep running out of disk space with cbs.log and it's archived files taking up to 60gb of my hdd over a day or two..
Is there a way to get rid of the generation of these logs or find out why they're blowing out so huge?
    Thanks

    Hi Tomautom,
If you are sure your system is running fine, you can delete this file. Please follow these steps to delete the csb.log and it will create a new one.
    1. Disable the trusted installer service (Windows Modules Installer)
    2. Delete/move all of the current CBS log files from the \Windows\CBS\Logs directory
    3. Restart the Windows Modules Installer service
    4. Wait for log size to be large enough to compress properly into cabinet files
    Refer to:
    CBS.log file HUGE
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Files taking up too much space?

I just bought my computer (macbook pro) a couple of weeks ago, and already i have used up 60gb of hard drive space. I took a 3 minute video, and it said on the information that it took up 2.16 gb of space! this is outrageous - and it never took up this much space on my pc. is there anything i can do to make files take up less space?

    lenabean54,
If it is a digital video camera (DV cam), imported footage will be about 20 GBs per hour, regardless of the camera. HD is an entirely different story, taking up much more space.
Storing this footage on your computer is not ideal. Most people use external drives to accommodate any significant amount of DV footage, thereby eliminating the limitations of relatively small laptop Hard Drives. If you are going to import footage to your internal Hard Drive, get it edited as soon as you can, then export to some compressed format, either DVD or Quicktime.
Although much smaller than DV footage, photos can begin to consume significant amounts of disk space. Take all the photos you like, import them into iPhoto, but keep everything organized and "archive" what you don't need to keep on your computer to CDs/DVDs.
Music stored in your iTunes library will consume whopping amounts of disk space, and if you purchase videos to watch in iTunes, it gets even worse. Stay on top of this, archiving any videos you have watched to CDs/DVDs.
