In shuffle mode, same song keeps repeating

Since updating to firmware 1.1.4, everytime I play the iPod in shuffle mode, it repeats the same song over and over. I have to forward to the next song. I don't remember this happening prior to updating. Is anyone else having this issue?

While playing the song, turn your phone to portrait(that's upright) and tap the cover art(or whatever may be there). A new set of controls will appear below the existing controls(back, track info, album info). Of the new controls, make sure the control on the far left is not blue. If it is, tap until it goes white. That 'loop' represents track repeat.

When playing tunes, same song keeps repeating and does not move on to next song. Is there a repeat button somewhere/? When I turn shuffle on and off and it makes no difference.

On the left side of the music playing screen right below the scrubber bars it the repeat control. It is the arrowed racetrack icon. Tap the icon until it is white.

How do i get my music off repeat. the same song keeps repeating.

I am having difficulty getting my ipod touch off repeat. It just keep repeating the same song. I tried shuffle and it just goes to the next song and keeps repeating that song.

Turn off the repeat control. If you touch the screen in album view this control will be to the left side of the scrubber bar.

In shuffle mode, some songs never get played, why?

I have most of my music in 1 playlist (about 2500 songs) which I listen to all the time, always in shuffle mode. I became aware that my ipod was never playing some songs, yet others were recurring quite frequently. When I checked the playcount, it showed the highest count at 46, yet it also showed that many tracks that had been in the playlist just as long, have never been played. Why is this? Is my ipod secretly asserting it's own taste in music? Does shuffle mode favour songs with a higher playcount? Is there a way to stop this happening? Has anybody else experienced this? Suggestions gratefully received.

I've heard this excuse before, that what we think is random really isn't, but when certain trends occur enough times, its pretty clear that there is some kind of algorithm or something in the coding that affects the shuffle.
I know random means random, but there are too many "random" coincidences and apparent patterns that occur to raise doubt that it truly is as random as Apple claims.
One such example, is that when using the Shuffle Songs feature (that shuffles all tracks on the iPod) I had 2-3 tracks from the same album (an album I had never even listened to yet) showing up within the first 40 tracks five times in a row. Numerous other songs showed up in at least 3 of the 5 "trials." Out of 8,000 songs.
On a playlist (of 300 or less songs is all I have tried), if you have multiple songs off the same album, you are far more likely to hear at least one other song off a given album within about 10 songs then you are to not hear a song off the same album. A specific example of this is on a playlist of 105 songs I have, there are 3 songs off one album, however nearly every time 2 of the songs will play within a 10 track range, and nearly as often all 3 songs will play within the same 20 track range.
I know random isn't perfectly spaced songs, but when certain things happen often enough, the odds of it become so low that even the "true random" explanation doesn't cover it.

Playing song keeps repeating

Hi .. when I play a song in iTunes or on my iPod Touch the selected song keeps repeating no matter what Playlist I use. It simply won't move to the next song automatically.
What have I done?
What do I need to do to fix this?
I have gone between shuffle and not shuffle, tried the Controls - Repeat menu but commands are greyed out. What to do? Thank you in advance.

Songs Keep Repeating

I have a 3rd Gen. 32G iPod Touch. When I play it now, the song keeps repeating and won't move forward to the next song with out me manually using a remote or the touch feature to move to the next song.
I had this issue with a 2nd. Gen iPod Touch I previously owned. That was resolved when I plugged it into iTunes and updated the software.
Well, I did the same with this iPod and it didn't resolve the issue. Does anyone know how I can make the iPod play normal???

Song keeps repeating itself

I just purchased a new iPod Touch. When playing my Purchased list the first song keeps repeating itself and I can't get the iPod to move onto the next song on the list. Read the online instruction manual and can't solve problem.
Any suggestions out there.

Tap the "Now Playing" screen to bring up the scrubber bar. To the left of the bar is the repeat symbol, tap it until it turns white (OFF) because it sounds like it is blue (ON).

Ipod music - same first song keeps repeating?

When I play music in either albums, or under artists, playlists, it starts on the first song and then keeps repeating that same song all the time without progressing to the other music. I have looking under settings (Ipod) and cant find anything to get past this??

If enabled, the color of the icon/selection will be blue.

Songs keep repeating, even on shuffle

If I leave it on shuffle, same song just keeps repeating. If I manually coax it to next song, it does indeed change song, but that song will just keep repeating, and so on, and so on.
If I switch to Genius playlist, same thing. First song will play, but keep repeating???
Am I missing something here? Maybe a setting I'm overlooking?

You have Repeat trurned on.
Tap the album cover.
Under the scroll bar on the left side is the two arrows in a circle.
Tap it until it is not blue.

The song playing, whichever it may be keeps repeating itself. Imade sure the repeat is off. The only way to listen to another song is to manually advance myself. How do I solve this problem. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi - My iphone keeps playing the same song until I manually advance it, even on shuffle. I met w. a genius and they gave me a new phone. As such I know I have done something on itunes? It doesn't affect my ipod. I have turned the repeat off in itunes... now i am at a loss??

Start playing a song, any song.
Select the album cover art area for the song that is playing which brings up the time remaining indicator for the song.
To the right of the time remaining indicator is the shuffle selection icon, and to the left is the repeat selection icon.
When selected, the icon color will be blue. When off, the color is white.

IPod Nano - Shuffle plays same songs over and over

I have several playlists on my iPod Nano with varying numbers of songs. But it seems that every time I use my iPod, no matter which playlist I'm using, I get some songs over and over. I'll hear the same couple songs multiple times in a day/week. I turn it off when we aren't using it. So it seems like it's resetting the shuffle every time I turn it on. Is there some setting I need to change to make it shuffle the songs more? I don't remember having this problem with my iPod Shuffle. I'm considering making multiple playlists (like a several workout ones with different songs in each so I get more variety) but wondering if there's a simpler fix

That is probably the Repeat setting. It can be set to repeat ONE (repeats current song), ALL (repeats current list), or OFF (does not repeat).
Which iPod nano model do you have? Does it have a touch screen interface, or the (older) click wheel interface?

Why does the same song keep replaying on my iPhone?

My music on my iPhone replays the same song over and over until I tap the forward button, even though i have it set to shuffle songs. What do I need to do to have it automatically advance to the next song? (It only started having this problem about a week ago; before then it worked properly.)

Did you check to make sure the Repeat button wasn't turned on? To do this, while the song is playing tap the screen (cover art) to reveal the additional controls (see image below). Then tap the Repeat button until it turns white (white is off, blue is on).

i always put my ipod on my iphone on shuffle in the car but here lately it keeps playing the same song over and over. and i have gone through every menu and every place on the phone looking for something to turn it off like u would shuffle but i dont see it. Does anyone know why its doing this and how do i make it stop?

I see that the music shuffling works just fine. I miss the ability to shuffle pod casts in the same way. Pod casts did work the same way in the past, but this functionality is no longer available with the 3.0 update.
Any help would be appreciated.
