In some cases modem in Satellite L20 doesn't work

Hello,
a friend had bought a Satellite L20 last summer. In January she began to work on the Internet irregularly but has experienced trouble. So I looked after the notebook last week:
When trying to connect to the Internet the connection to the provider sometimes fails. If she finally gets the connection there often occurs the message that the page couldn't be found and only after clicking on the button "Refresh" several times the page finally shows up. But oddly enough, every time I disconnected the power supply the connection became noticeable better.
(Win XP; driver/diagnostics: no problems showed up; provider works fine on different computers)
Unfortunately, there was no chance to check the connection right there with different hardware. I can't tell if the last driver is installed but think so because of the date of purchase. So, my guess is that the power cable isn't sufficiently shielded. But if so what to do? Or what else could be the reason for the unexpected behavior of the modem?

I have heard about similar problem on some other Satellite model. Solution was to install modem driver from Satellite A110. Please dont ask me why but test it.

I have used my Fast Track USB on new Toshiba Satellite L40 and I never had problems with it. I could set low latency and I did few songs with it.
Yesterday I bought another notebook, thinking of home recording studio. It's used Toshiba Satellite Pro L20. It doesn't work properly with my interface. When I listen music on Winamp or do anything on Fruity Loops I hear loud clicks, pops, noises. They introduce samples, or they appear during playback or after a sample is stopped.
I noticed, drivers for Satellite Pro L20 are a problem. Its not supported by Toshiba anymore?! The only drivers for chipset are very old and you can download em only from Toshiba website. The chipset is ATI Xpress 200M. Its drivers are with graphic card. Recently I noticed you can download "ATI Catalyst Legacy Display Driver for Windows XP - Motherboard/IGP Drivers 9.11" and CRACK IT to make it possible to install on mobile unit such as L20. Yep its funny but its impossible to do otherwise!

# drivers replacement, original were released in 2004. I installed recent version.

# asio and different settings
# pluging the interface to another usb socket.
# trying what happens when I use battery and when I use adapter
# updated bios
# turned off onboard units such as wifi card, sound card

pops still appear.

Thanks for answer. I still have L40 but I try to run my homerecording on L20. The L40 is now used by whole my family. It's possible to swap them but there's a problem - L20 has Norway keyboard and I'm the only person at home who doesn't often look down while typing. In Poland, we use standard ms keyboard. I'd buy special stickers, it's about only to make special chars get back to their places.
I installed Windows on this computer end set it to best performance possible.
Since I created this thread, guys from M-Audio support tried to solve my problem - nothing helped. I think potential solutions are exhausted.

Apple maps satellite imagery doesn't work

After upgrading to iOS 6 and eagerly trying out the new maps , I was met with disappointment as the satellite imagery function doesn't work, I'm left with a pin surrounded by complete blackness. The normal map view works fine and so do all the other features . Except hybrid and satellite so this includes flyover and all the 3d goodies.
Help?

Maybe, but I didn't pay £600 to become a beta tester for Apple. Google maps worked and worked well. Navigation has been a key selling point since the first iPhone and my user experience has deteriorated markedly with the introduction of iOS 6.0.
If I could roll back, I would but Apple won't let us do that. They haven't given us new maps because that's the best possible solution, they've done it because they want to distance themselves from the creators of Android. If they valued customer opinion then they'd at least provide a Google alternative and allow people to choose which is the default mapping app. Unfortunately Apple now believes its own hype and customers have become something to be tolerated ("it's Apple so they'll buy it regardless" mentality).
A pity as I would have previously considered myself a "fanboy" who's owned a 3GS, 4, now a 4s (not to mention the iPad 3 I'm typing this on while listening to my Nano).

Satellite L650 doesn't work good after BIOS update 2.40

BIOS downgrade can be done only using an traditional BIOS version
Such versions are not available for download.
You can download only the latest win-based BIOS.
But why you say it does not work properly?

Replaced trackbad case etc now cd drive doesn't work

Howdy:
Took the plunge and replaced cracked LCD front and trackpad case and now my cd drive just sputters and spins. What I discovered is that if any of the screws are tightened too much it affects the way the compuer functions. (I found that out when I over tightened the four little screws around the battery compartment- the clicker under the trackpad didn't click). I thought the screw on the tray was too loose or too tight. Partially right, it wouldn't eject and after adjusting some it did. I'm wondering if I should open it up again and check the screws plus make sure the optical cable is correctly inserted?
What does anyone think? Might it be time for a new cd drive (worked perfectly before).

Hi Connie -
It's not a matter of your screws being too loose or tight (lol, sorry - but there was no other way to put that) but rather I feel you didn't 'fit' your top case in properly. If your top case is perfectly in place then it would allow your track-pad button to work without issue regardless as to how tight the screws are ...this button is very small and any mis-alignment of the case would cause it to act up. The same thing applies to your CD drive. If the case is out by just a bit then it puts pressure on the drive causing it to make a lot of noise of not work at all.
Seeing as you replaced your LCD - my guess is that the hinges and bottom cover are not meshing together perfectly. Check the bottom of the laptop toward the back by the screen hinge and see if it's 'bulging' or just not looking right.
These are very finicky things to put together properly - and as with my clamshell, it got to the point (after 6-7 openings) that I was afraid of not ever getting it together again - and possibly breaking some of the plastic.

Webcam on Satellite A200 doesn't work with Windows Media Encoder

Hardware: TOSHIBA Satellite A200 (1GH) with integrated Chicony webcam.
PROBLEM:
When i using webcam by Chicony software - it's working allright (video recorded normaly).
BUT: when i closing Chicony software, and starting Windows Media Encoder (preinstalled with Vista) - when i try to select webcam as input device - error is reported "device is not ready".
This error also repeated if I select for webcam Microsoft webcam driver instead of Chicony native driver.

Download the newest Chicony driver and software from the Toshiba page and install it.
Dont forget to remove the old version.
Furthermore if you get the error message like webcam is use by another application or "device is not ready you should start the msconfig and should disable and enable the chicony webcam service and process.

Satellite M500 - Doesn't work properly and need general help

Hi, very new to wireless laptop usage. bought a m500. trying to go thru manual is very tiring as cannot distinguish areas. having constant problem with:
using sattelite. walk away for a moment and screen goes black. learnt this is hibernation. should come back by simply touching touch pad or moving mouse. this does not happen. all freezes and have to force shut down. have done this a million times in the past two weeks. contacted supplier as touch pad would not work at all, advise to download drivers but found out simply disabled touchpad in error with button below space bar and "fn and f9" together ables it again. please advise if you can.
toshiba was also contacted and they tried to tell me to do a back up and reset to factory settings as a software issue could be doing this. the only thing we have on this is itunes. all else is standard folders and applications.
also,have never done a back up b4. how long does this take and can you use sattelite whilst backing up.?

To be honest your posting is not easy to understand and one information I miss like your operating system.
Theoretically it could be a software problem, maybe a virus or something else so it doesnt make a difference how many programs you have installed.
Satellite M500 doesnt seems to be a European model so I dont know how HDD recovery works exactly but let me give you a word of advice: Just take your Toshiba recovery disk. This disk contains an image for factory settings and with these settings everything should work properly.
In my opinion if you get the advice for restoring factory settings from Toshiba ASP, you should do this! ;)

So Ive reinstalled my Windows Vista, but graphic driver (downloaded from official website) dont works. I downloaded drivers from similar website...same problem....Vista, XP...no function.
Help me someone please (and dont recommend me other systems, like Linux etc... ;-) Thanks!!!

The Toshiba ATI graphic card driver from the Toshiba European drive page works!
I dont know what you did and what notebook you have but usually there are different A300D series and you should firstly ensure that you have chosen the right series in the driver download form before you would download any drivers!!
After you have downloaded the driver, unzip it and then execute the setup file.

Satellite M70: Battery doesn't work anymore

The battery of my brand new satellite M70 doesn't work anymore. I didn't use the portable for about a week and when I tried to start it (from battery), it didn't do anything. The battery was still loaded (63%) I have to connect the AC adapter to the power supply to make it work.
Meanwhile the battery LED is always orange. The battery doesn't load, battery power remains 63%. I tried to remove the battery for a while and put it back in, but this didn't change anything...
How can I solve this problem?

Possibly the battery has a malfunction. It would be very interesting to know if this issue happens after battery replacing.
According to your posting the warranty should be valid the battery replacement should be done for free.
I recommend contacting the Toshiba service partner in your country and ask the guys for the help.

Question about use of HypFindMember in HFM (It doesn´t work)

Hello to all. I posted this message in Financial Consolidation forum, but there suggested me to better post this message in the Essbase forum. Hope someone can help me with this issue. I'm just a beginner in this matter. I'm trying the HypFindMember for HFM.
I'm doing some tests with the SmartView's VBA Functions. In particular I have some problems with one of them to obtain a result... this is the HypFindMember function. I tried the following code:
X = HypFindMember(Sheet1, "1000000", "Default", dimName, aliasName, genName, levelName)
but the result for "X" is always 10003 (should be zero). The previous step was HypConnect and was successful. Do you know if something in the middle should be executed for this function? The manual does not specifies a previous requirement to execute the function, besides the connection to the server and the MemberName ("1000000").
In the SmartView manual is specified that HypFindMember works with Essbase and Financial Management. I'm using HFM 9.3.1
In case that the HypFindMember definetly doesn´t work in HFM, do you know other way to validate if a member exists in a HFM application? (using SmartView)

IMac intel : streaming QT doesn't work

I'm not able with my imac intel to see QT live streaming events (like Keynotes of Jobs).
Before, with my iMac G5, the streaming QT worked well...now I've not changed any parameter of modem but the streaming doesn't work more.

I have the same problem. QuickTime streaming is not working and I am unable to use iChat AV (video chat).
My iMac Core Duo is behind a router, has a fix IP address and is connected to the router via ethernet cable.
I tried to switch the QuickTime streaming setting from automatic to port 80 (http) with no success.
Changing the set up of the router and placing the iMac into the DMZ solves the problem (but creates an other problem, within the DMZ the iMac is exposed to the internet, nothing I like to do).
Just forwarding port UDP 554 to the iMac doesn't help, the iMac has to be in the DMZ.
I have the impression that at some point in the initial communication between client and host a bit order error occurs and a wrong port number is used by Mac OS X on Intel.

Access IBM button doesn't work

in case you just want to have back to F11 option by system startup, then all you need to do is following:
- check if you have "Rescue and Recovery " application installed
- If yes, then uninstall it
- if not, then go to Lenovo.com and download the latest version of Rescue and Recovery
- once it's downloaded, simply install it
This installation will modify also the MBR of your system and the F11 option will be present again. Although it might not create a physical partition, but it will instead create a virtual patition, but you will have the F11 option back.
IMPORTANT: In case you have already captured some backups using Rescue and Recovery, then DONT! uninstall it, just reinstall RnR .

Scroll up function doesn't work at all.

My Blackberry Bold9930 is having some issues and it is my second one this one is about two months old. First of all it has a dead pixel and I know you can not do anything about that. The other issue is with the track pad in some windows scroll up/down function doesn't work at all but left to right works. In some windows the scroll up/down function it will but others will not WHY? Windows that the function will not work that I know of are any pop up winds and the tap page in the browser some options pages etc. Why is this? Yes I have done restarts latest software I have done everything.

Whenever my trackpad scroll "sticks" or seems to not work, it's because I have too many browser windows open, or too many apps open. Which browser are you using?
Try closing apps, closing windows, and leaving open only those you are actually using at the time. A battery pull (quick pull in my case) usually cures a sluggish phone every time for me.

My internet doesn't work while abroad in Italy

I'm abroad in Italy for the year and my wifi doesn't work or is very spotty. My host family has no problems with wifi and it works on my iPhone, and they even bought a new modem, but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I think there are a bug with Java,
but some keys of my French keyboard doesn't work with ALL Java APPS (Solaris Management console...), but work fine with all other apps.
When I use Xsun, there are no problem, all keys work, but with Xorg, some keys doesn't work. (Only in Java Apps).
I had got this bug with Sun Solaris 10 and Sun Solaris 11 (6/05 Express)
