one of my clients bought a gen1 MacBook Air, and within 12 months it had lost at least 1 of its screws. i dismissed it as him being a bit rough with it.
got my own mid09 15" MacBook Pro 2 months ago. i noticed the display panel hinge isn't quite tight enough and won't support its own weight when it's relatively close to horizontal (like, when it's sitting on your lap while laying in bed with your knees bent up at 45degrees).
today i discovered a screw had fallen out - thankfully still on my desk. while gently screwing it back in, i got the feeling that the hole or screw had become partially threaded (the thread damaged and torn off) so i didn't screw any tighter. just to be sure i checked the other screws, and almost all of them were loose!
this laptop doesn't do all that much traveling, and it's only 2 months old, so i was pretty shocked. remembering the Air with a screw or two missing, i decided to go googling...
wow. this problem doesn't seem to be at all isolated. plenty of complaints of loose or threaded screws/screw holes, cases bent/warped by seemingly ordinary reasonable handling, and display hinge too loose.
maybe aluminium wasn't such a good idea after all...?

Apple, Please fix draft related problems,They are way too OLD.

There are numerous threads complaining about the draft issues in mail.app for years. Yet Apple shows no willing to fix them.
The most significant one is the IMAP draft issue. After you send a email, it still presents in your draft folder until you delete it manually.

The next one is excessive saved draft version. Every email I wrote probably generates at least 10+ saved version in my trash folder.

First, as already mentioned, you're not talking to Apple here, you're talking to other users.
Second, none of my 5 IMAP accounts show the behavior you describe, and never have. Note also that several of the handful of people on the threads you refer to had their problems solved by unchecking the box that saves drafts on the server - a feature that seems utterly pointless to me, given that Mail has no facility for easily queuing mail to be sent later, and which is off by default. This does not sound like a bug to me.

The original hard drive.
It shouldn't matter whether the logic board has been replaced. The iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program was in place to fix them when/if they failed. It was not a recall.
I believe you can minimize the possibility of a logic board failure by never picking it up by the left front corner alone. If you pick it up in your left hand (as I often do mine), grab it in the center under the trackpad instead of that left front corner.
I would advise maximizing the RAM with a 512 MB RAM module. It takes a 3.3 V, PC100 or PC133 compliant, 1.25 inch SDRAM SO-DIMM.

You will need system install discs to make it your own (change the password). They will almost assuredly be necessary for system maintenance somewhere along the line, too.
I won't buy one that doesn't have the original system discs with it because just buying Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) or Panther (Mac OS 10.3) and doing an Erase and Install won't get you the original applications that came with it (like AppleWorks).

Please Help! My transitions are fading too much audio out!

I am still using the old iMovie 08. I am just making a simple video, but in certain trasitions btwn clips, the transition is cutting off too much of the audio at the end of the clip right b4 the transition begins. I have tried playing with the "set duration" function on the transition, but it is not working out properly, and doesnt chop exactly where you want it to b/c its trying to blend all the 3 pieces together so it looks like it averages them out, chopping out whatever amounts it wants from each of the 3 pieces. It basically makes it so you can't hear the last couple words from the speaker right as the transition is starting.
-Is there anyway to edit the transition properties and either turn off audio fading right b4 the transition -OR- to at least adjust down the amount of audio it cuts into at the end of my clip prior to the transition?
-Or is the only thing that u can edit on transitions is the "set duration"? THANKS!!

It's regrettable that you deleted files without having backed them up first. The first thing you need to do is back up what's left of your data. You can do that with Time Machine or by other means, but you need an external hard drive to hold the data.
Whatever you did delete without backups is most likely gone forever. You could send your hard drive to a data-recovery firm, but the service will be very expensive and may not recover anything. The less you do with the computer before then, the better the chance of success.
The iPhoto library is corrupted and you won't be able to open it. You may be able to extract what's left of the images, but first you have to back up.

Rollovers that are triggered too quickly freak out

I am a designer, no fancy code stuff here. I have three buttons with somewhat fancy rollover effects. OnClick, they move, and sometimes when they do the mouse can trigger the adjacent button. When it does, part of my rollover effect is gone, ie. layers drawn in FC simply disappear. If I reload the page they are visible again. I have a SWF that, if I am very gentle with, works fine, otherwise, I lose layers.
This project will eventually be handed over to a Flex developer, I would really like to have this issue fixed before then if at all possible to prevent doubling his work. Any advice would be appreciated.

I deleted everything but the buttons in an attempt to reduce the size, and everything but the buttons was gone from the layer panel, but no reduction in size.

Activate Windows 8 Enterprise over the phone (The option to choose what country you are calling from is greyed out)

I am trying to activate Windows 8 Enterprise. However, the workstation I'm running it on is not able to connect to the Internet. So, I select "Activate over the phone". However, the "Click nearest location" is greyed out.
The default is set to Afghanistan, which unhelpfully lists a toll number to call in Afghanistan...which would work if I lived in Afghanistan, but I don't. Other than pluggint the system into the Internet is there a way to activate my copy of Windows
8 Enterprise over the phone? I need a toll free US number.

number for users in Afghanistan.

Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.

How do you get password on old .mac account that has been changed? For some reason my iphone updates wants old mac acct password. Can I change that to new one I've had for years?

Years and years ago when I paid for an email address with mac.com I opened my itunes account and all. After getting tired of paying for an email account I made a new one, which I can't remember but I thought I changed it, but obviously the .mac stayed on. My itunes is a gmail account and I have no problems there. But today when I updated my iphone, after downloading, iphone asked me to enter password for the .mac account. Well I have no idea what that is now. I don't know how to even retrieve it. I can't find the settings to change it over to my gmail account either on my phone. I go to itunes and it has the gmail account listed, but when trying to activate some things that involved the update, it still asks for .mac account password. I'm beginning to think this is why I can't get authorization on some of my itune songs to play, they keep saying can't authorize when I am still within the 5 computer limit. I think I'm going to get a Droid...

If you are seeing the old Apple ID with regard to this Mac, then it would seem that somehow you have incorporated the ID in the setup of this new Mac.
Iphoto i use never used imovie.
If you began using iPhoto without having Accepted it into your Apple ID, then that would explain why you are unable to update the app. If any of the iLife apps are used without Accepting them into your Apple ID, the ability to accept them will lapse and you will not be able to update them.

These files are the latest in sap marketplace.
I am unable to install this patch.

What do I need to install this patch. I suppose there is a file missing. SAP should renew sapinstxxx.sar and the ep6toolsxxxx.sar

That means your phone was hacked to unlock it.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
It may no longer be possible to process a legitimate unlock on a phone that was hacked/jailbroken. The hack can do permanent damage.
You can find out who it was locked to and find out if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Don't be surprised if you are never able to use it again. It may be permanently bricked.

I decided to try my hand at creating a theme. I filled out all of the forms, uploaded the images (that were the appropriate sizes), selected the colors, was happy with the preview and clicked 'Submit'. The following screen said, "Oops! You are trying to do something that you are not allowed to do." I clicked the back button and re-tried, then received the error message that the theme name was already taken. I re-named it, re-submitted and went back to the 'oops' screen. This cycle repeated no less than 20 times. I tried theme names that were so off the wall, there's no way that all of them were taken. I think that it was failing due to whatever error it was encountering.

It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.
