PLEASE PLEASE Help me.
I've just built the following system:
MSI KT3 Ultra ARU Motherboard
Western Dig 80GB 5400 speed Hard drive
Liteon DVD
Teac CDRW (40/48/12)
Gainward graphics card
SB Audigy Player
256MB Ram
AMD Athlon 1900+ XP
Modem
Win XP
It was working fine for a while (3D Benchmark almost 9000!) except this clicking in the background. Asked a friend and he recommended I update the drivers... SOooo I went to the SB Website, downloaded the drivers and installed them... big mistake ... in the middle, it crashes and shows me a blue screen saying there are probs with the ACPI.sys file... resets itself and shows the same message on reboot. Wasn't able to do anything. So I wiped the drive (format) and tried to start over with a WinXP setup... only now, whenever I try and install stuff from CD (whether via my DVD or CD drives) it starts saying that there are files missing on the CD, and won't be able to install. Sometimes when I clicked retry enough it started to work... and I eventually got XP installed. Tried to install officeXP and the same thing happened...only I can't even get it to install. So I've rewiped the HD. Got an NTFS partition on there and am waiting for help
Since I've tried it in both drives with the same message, it's not the individual drives. Since more than one installation is coming up with these probs, it's not the CDs. The DVD n CD are on seperate IDE connectors and I've checked these connections aren't loose.
I'm lost

Hi,
That sounds very much like bad memory to me. If you are installing Windows NT/2k/XP with bad memory chips in your computer, you are most likely to get reports on file copy problems.
It sounds weird, I know, but every time I face this problem, I replace the memory and then it works fine. )

i don't know whats going on now!

Video chat problems - please help!!!!!

Please help, I am trying to video chat with my father on a PC, and brother on a macbook
I cannot video chat with either of them, I have an comm error -8 come back every time i initiate a video session with either my brother or my father. However my father (using a PC and AIM 6.5) can have successful video chat with both my brother and I.
I have made the suggested alterations to both QT and iChat preferences, I have switched off both the router and mac firewalls, but still no joy.
I am using a intel iMac OSX 10.4.11, with ichat 3.1.9 and a belkin router, any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance

If you have two computers on your LAN that you want to use the same ports for then you have to use a method that allows multiple computers.
UPnP is one method and easiest to set up as it is usually an On/Off setting
Port Triggering is another and needs you to know which ports iChat uses first and where it uses next to get it set up.
UPnP also tends to get around any NAT issues
Having said that the Link I sent you to earlier does not show UPnP or Port Triggering in the menu.

TO CEO @ VERIZON OR TO SOMEONE WHO CARES*** PLEASE HELP ME *** BEFORE I GO CRAZY

I have a vortex by LG. I got it in feb.2011. I have had trouble with it since that day. Turning off all the time , screen locking up, sending txt to someone different ,SD card not working ,which I have handled all these problems myself by resetting/swiping it clean often (which is a pain) taking the battery out , turning it off for a few hours , blah blah blah ,you know all the stuff you do to have a phone on the go. I asked around & most other people who had this phone was pleased. I only know off 3 other people who have this phone. then about a 3wks ago the SD card wouldn't mount or just wouldn't read @ all. I tried everything I knew to do . I go to the Verizon store waited my entire lunch break ( 1 hour) finally someone tried to help me I told him my problem he said well your going have to buy a new SD card which was about 60$ . I felt I waited for nothing. I spent over an hour for him too hold my phone & tell me pay more money. he still couldn't tell me why it did this or how to fix it . Just pay more money . Well I had a extra SD card from my camera it worked then few day later starts the same thing , good thing I didn't buy one cause looks like I would have had to spend it again anyways , but I could @ least call out & get calls. Finally a few days later my screened locked up completely I tried all the blah blah blah stuff again. This time it was no fixing it . I go to a different Verizon store hoping to get better/faster help I walk in & tell the lady my problem again on my lunch break she picks up the phone dials customer service & hands me the phone. I think really I could have did this myself why are you people even here! So the guy on the phone says your still under warranty we will send you a new phone or u can upgrade & get a new phone I asked for what kind of price he said the price of the phone , I said no thanks I just paid 200$ for this phone & haven't even got to enjoy it , just send me a new phone he said it could take up to 5 days!!! What I said can , u get it here any faster he replied yes for 13$ I can ship it overnight but it would take 2 days uh, just thought he said overnight!!! I guess over night doesn't mean what it says but I said I don't feel I should pay it since I really didn't break my phone he said there was nothing he could do but it probably wouldn't take the full 5 days they just have to say that ... Wow OK so 5 days goes by without any phone to use . I finally get the phone but it take the full 5 days,plus the 2 days I tried to fix it to avoid the stores I follow the instruction to activate it thought it was fine but then the next morning I get a call @ work from my babysitter stating my phone still didn't work!! After work I go back to the 1st Verizon store (which I dreaded so much I would have rather shot myself in the foot , but I'm a nurse who needs my foot & phone) since I had no help from either stores guess it didn't matter which one I went too. After waiting a good 45 MINUTES for help they finally look @ my phone they were stumped on what was wrong cause it said it was activated but not working they finally call someone & the guy finally tell me its is activated under someone else's # ! OK so what do I do ?? The guy hands me the phone says they needs to verify my address ( which I thought to make sure I account holder ) I gave the phone back to the guy @ the store they talk for a few more MINUTES. & he said OK , I was like OK what ! Oh he didn't tell you we are going have to send you NEW phone again!!! Really I have to go another 6 days without a phone!! He offered if I brought an old phone back in(which I live 20 MINUTES away) he could activate that one till I get the new phone in... 1st off I don't keep old phones I recycle them ( thought that was a good thing)& even if I did have one it wouldn't be a smartphone & that's what I pay dearly for... ( a phone store who can't lend you a phone while they are fixing your phone that you didn't break even thou you are still paying them for a phone) MESSED UP RIGHT! He said it shouldn't be that long they are going to overnight it for free but it was Saturday So he said I should get it TUESDAY.**lol overnight what !! Do I not know what overnight means*** I was like yeah yeah YOU ALL say that ! I left the store in tears I depend on my phone I have a 1 yr old child & my job depends on my phone as well . I go home from work Tuesday no phone image that , Wednesday I get a letter from fedx stating I was not home to sign for this device ! It was late so I waited till Friday to activate since I have already been without a phone for 12 days now. Today is Saturday. Guess what??? My phone is saying to mount the SD card again ! Someone please help my ipod touch 2nd gen. wont turn on and it tries to start up and it tells me to connect to itunes!

ok so i have an ipod touch 2nd generation and i have had it for many years. A few months ago it would not turn on and kept telling me to connect to itunes but the problem is my itunes library is set up at my dads house and i live with my mom. so i tried connecting it to my laptop to see if it would turn on. well it asked me if i wanted to restore it and i was really tried and couldnt think what restored meant so i clicked yes! and it wiped out my entire library! i was in tears because i had had $50 worth of music and apps that werent backed up! so i sent my ipod to my dad and got everything sorted out. but last night i tried to turn my ipod on and it wouldnt turn on so i just plugged it in to charge and left it. i came back to see if it was done and it wouldnt turn on and it told me to connect to the itunes store. i probably have about $50 worth of music that is not backedup this time! omg i want to cry! i am smart enough to not pulg in into my laptop because i know what restore means now! and i have tried holding the buttons down and everything and i let it charge all day! what do i do! please please help me! if i send it to my dads will all of my music that is not backed up sync into my library? or will i lose it all?!?! please please help me!! HELP!!!

Windows Server 2008 black screen with mouse *PLEASE HELP*

Hello fellow techs,
I have been tearing my hair out for the past 12hrs on this issue.
About 3 weeks ago, one of our clients reported that they were experiencing
issues on the network so one of the staff went into the server room and noticed
the screen was black with only the cursor. As they couldn't reboot, they
decided to hold the power button to power it off. When they powered it back
up, it went passed the windows loading
splash screen, and again the screen is black with
the mouse pointer in the center of the screen.
I am diagnosing the server and find that at the black screen, I’m able to move
the cursor and beyond that nothing happened. I started in safe mode with the
exact same results.
I have been trying many different solutions from posts that I have found in
Google but no change.
From other machines you can type \\servername in
the run box and see the shared folders, as well as ping it.
This is a very urgent request as I need to have the Server back up and running
by tomorrow.
I am quiet willing to pay for phone support with anyone that can assist as soon
as possible. I am happy to transfer founds via Paypal.<o:p></o:p>

command to scans the integrity of all protected system files and repairs files with problems when possible. For more details, please refer to the following article.

Before going further, would you please let me know whether there were any changes on the affected server? Has windows update or any new device been added? Please also check your shadow copies.

Please help! Safari 4.1 won't work at all!

I'm close to tears, so would be hugely grateful to anyone that could help me here....
I think that a couple of weeks ago i had a software updater thing and updated my software. I haven't used my MacBook Pro (OS X V10.4.11) since, but tried to today.
I launched safari (Version 4.1) from my dock, and it does the little wiggle thing, with the arrow under icon, but no web page, or indeed any window appeared. I've restarted computer several times and still nothing. I've gone into Bookmarks and tried loading a page, but a blank window opens (grey) and then I get a crash message. This happens exactly the same if i try to load a webpage from an email (mail still works).
I've copied the problem report below, and really really hope someone can help. I've no clue what has happened, and am not very familiar at all with computers, so if someone could explain how I can get it fixed in laymans terms I'd honestly be forever indebted.

I am having the same issue and tried to locate the same Conduit/Plugins/cttoolbar.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ct_plugins file on my HD but nothing. If you can help me with solving this issue as well I would be very grateful!

Question about smc fancontrol after installing Leopard... please help

hi,, i recently had my macbook pro a clean install leopard,.. everything is going fine afterwards until i installed smc fancontrol, smc fancontrol is working fine, but my problem is, i forgot to set the default fan speed on the smc fancontrol which is 2000rpm before i did the clean install, the fan speed was 2500rpm when i clean installed leopard, forgetting to set the default 2000 rpm back,. and now after i installed leopard, and then i installed back the smc fancontrol, the default now is 2500rpm! i cannot set it back to the default, which is 2000rpm, when i tried smc fancontrol keeps telling me that it FELL SHORT OF MINIMUM, which it thinks the default rpm is 2500, how can i get it back to the real default rpm of macbook pro which is 2000rpm? i'm afraid that constantly running my macbook pro forever to 2500rpm will cause the wear and tear of my macbook pro's fans , please help me, i really don't know what i'll do here....

Check all your processes under the CPU tab. They should all be very low at idle--like right after you boot. If you have some process running like 30% for example, that could cause the fans to run faster.
should i check in the activity monitor if the smcfancontrol still runs after i closed it? i
It shouldn't show up in their after you close it.

Please help me! I'm actually crying. I made a horrible mistake

Oh God.....what do I do? I accidentally erased EVERYTHING on my iPod. I had 1526 songs on it, and they're all gone! I'm in tears. What can I do? Is there an 'undo' function? What I did was I accidentally told it to automatically update this one Playlist, but I didn't realize that it would erase everything and replace it with just that playlist. EVerything is gone!! All my CDs, all my playlists, everything. I feel like someone just died. There's got to be a way I can fix this. Please help me.

As long as you have not reloaded much (or any) new information to the iPod, the following links will direct you to software that has a (small/medium/good) chance of recovering some or all of your iPod’s music files. Several responders indicated that Recover4All worked for them (although it could be as a result of being first on the list below). Most are not shareware or freeware, so you may have to spend a little money.....

PLEASE HELP - I have stupidly deleted the apple application support off my computer, and I am unable to launch my Itunes..It advises me to download itunes again, however i am TERRIFIED to do so because I have over 5,000 songs in my Library and no doubt my entire collection will inevitably be wiped.PLEASE HELP..I am almost in tears. I have attempted searching google for "Apple Application" Support downloads however it directs me to the apple website, and to no avail I cannot find anything to aid me...any responses would be greatly appreciated..!!!!!!!!!!

Reinstall iTunes from Apple's website. Reinstalling iTunes does not wipe your library, but you should have a backup regardless.

Movies won't load onto iTunes! Please help me, desperately seeking advice

Hey all.
I just bought a new macbook and new 60g iPod and can't watch movies on my pod.
I try to move them into iTunes and nothing happens, won't drag and drop, won't work if I try import or try to crtl click open with. Just zero happens. I have also tried converting them with iSquint into ipod compatible movies and still nothing. They just won't go anywhere near iTunes. It simply acts as though nothing has happened.
However, my friend was able to put videos onto my ipod from his old iBook.
So frustrating, i bought this new computer so things would work properly and so far not so good.
I have iTunes 7.0.1 and current ipod updater installed on iTunes
Could someone please help me before I tear my hair out!!

What you need to do is download a movie file converter to convert your movies to mp4 which is the ipod format. I use one called "ipodvideoconverter" just google it and you'll find one that works. Just a heads up though... it usually takes 3-5 hours to convert a 2 hour movie.

PSE8 - Cursor has a mind of it's own! Please help!

For months now, I have had a continuous problem with my cursor not responding as directed. It's almost as if it's "posessesed"! I will be trying to clone/heal something or use a brush on a mask, and when I click my mouse, the effect will land somewhere else on the photo. Or it will leave a big streak across the photo even though I'm only trying to clone/heal one little spot. In addition, if I'm trying to crop something, my crop box will jump clear across the screen when I click on it. Very frustrating!! It does not do this all the time, but it is getting more frequent and to a greater severity.
Here are the measures we have taken so far to try and remedy the problem:
Restarted more times than I care to mention!
Shut off all programs and online use, other than PSE8 so nothing else is interferring with it.
Rescheduled back-up to the wee hours of the morning so no interference from that.
Did complete virus, Malware, etc. scans, and came up clean.
Replaced wireless mouse and keyboard with brand new corded ones so no issue with wireless communication.
Moved files to external hard drive to free up more useable space.
Last night my husband cleaned up the disk and will try a defrag tonight.
I am seriously at a loss as to what to do, but I am so frustrated I was in tears last night! I have some edits that need to be done this week and it is taking me 5 times longer than it should because of this demon in my Elements!! Please, please help if you know of any ideas to resolve this! Thank you so much!!

Well the demon is back!! I'm trying to clone right now, and after I Alt-click then click on the place where I want to clone, the effect lands anywhere on the photo but where I want it to land. After about 5 tries it will finally work in the spot I'm trying to clone. And my crop box is bouncing all over the place - I'll start to line it up and when I click in the corner or on an edge to readjust, the crop box shoots off to the side. Crazy. And unfortunately, resetting the tools did not work.
Any other suggestions??

Cannot Alpha Order a Single Column of Info - PLEASE HELP

I'm an expert on Excel and recently switched to a Mac and am now using Numbers. It should be simple to alpha order a single column of words, but after three days I can't get any options to work.
When I try to sort just the column and select just the column name and just the selected cells it sorts the entire spreadsheet over and over again. Instant alpha is grayed out an unusable from the Format menu.
PLEASE HELP! How can I get a single column of words to sort in alpha order. Nothing I've tried works and when I follow the help menu instructions it still sorts the entire spreadsheet and not just the selected column.

Welcome to Apple Discussion and the Numbers '09 forum.
Numbers considers all of the date in a row to be a set (in database terms, a record), and sorts accordingly.
Here are two ways to sort a single column:
1. Copy the data from the column, Paste into a single-column table (or an otherwise empty table with any number of columns), perform the sort, then copy the newly sorted data and paste it back into the original column.
2. Grab the column you wish to sort, tear it out of its table to form a new single column table. Sort, then drag it back into position and drop it back into the original table.
The second method requires some explanation, which you'll find on page 58 of the Numbers '09 User Guide, or in more detail, in this discussion from a few days ago. Scan the thread for this image, check that message and the ones below it.

Instant alpha refers to the alpha channel which may be added to a graphic object to create transparency. It's not connected with sorting text or numbers. More in the Numbers '09 User Guide under "Removing the Background or Unwanted Elements from an Image" in Chapter 9, _Working with Shapes, Graphics, and Other Objects_.
The numbers '09 User Guide, and its reference companion, the iWork formulas and Functions User Guide, are excellent resources, and well worth downloading and spending a bit of time with. They can be had through the Help menu in Numbers.

I'm trying to figure out if it is my computer or the software i bought. I have a Macbook pro mid-2009 with the
Hitachi HTS545050B9SA02 Media. I dont understand what rpm i have...???? It needs to be 7200 for adobe cs6 production premium. Ive tried to download the sofware and it fails.. I'm tearfully trying to understand if it is my computer that cannot dowload the software or is it the software that is faulty. PLEASE HELP THIS COMPUTER ILLITERATE FOOL.

Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) of that model of hard drive is 5,400, not 7,200.

I've never heard of such a thing.
Usually the software installs regardless of drive performance, it's just slower on a stock 5,400 drive and I fail to see why Adobe would deny all the Mac users the ability to install Cs6 based upon this limitation.
Most Mac's came with 5,400 RPM laptop drives as they take less power.
Ive tried to download the sofware and it fails.. I'm tearfully trying to understand if it is my computer that cannot dowload the software or is it the software that is faulty.
It should be able to download, the software won't know what speed of the drive is until the software is run.
I would look at a slow, hobbled or data capped Internet connection or some other issue as your problem.
Contact the vendor, it's their money your giving them, let them solve your problem.

Importing/Downloading and paying for tunes--please help!

I am in tears right now. I just bought about 21 itunes. However, it seems that only one of them got paid for with my pay Pal account. I wanted to use my redeemed itunes gift card.
Now, I can't understand how to download the tunes in the first place (they don't seem to be anywhere on my desktop) nor can I figure out how to pay for them. The screen says "Credit Card Total $17.82." I'm worried because I'm "between credit cards" at the mo (ATM ate mine last week) and if it "bypasses" Pay Pal and goes to my credit card it will bounce!
Can somebody PLEASE HELP!
