In the "Numbers" app can you paste "as values" as you can in excel?

Hi volgc,
I am not currently using iCloud- I need to wait for the dust to settle over iCloud Drive. I would thnk that the default would be to paste values rather than formulas but again, I am on the Mac or iOS. What happens when you use control-c and control-v. Is control-v pasting the formulas?
Copy and paste in iOS Numbers on your iPad should not be any problem for you. When you tap the cell you want to copy the popup menu will offer you the choice to copy, when you tap on the cell you want to paste into you will be offered the choice to paste formulas or paste values.

  • Can I open/convert Excel (.xslx) files in the Numbers app?

I have some Microsoft Excel files from a former PC that I would like to open in my MacBook.  Do I need an Apple version of Office installed on my computer or can I convert the file information in the Numbers app?

According to the following you can open it in Numbers: Numbers: Supported file formats
If in doubt, start Numbers and use the File menu Open command and see if it works.
You could also install and use either Open Office or Libre Office, both of which are free and very good.

From the iTunes Store, yes, all your iOS devices running on the same account will qualify.

  • After updating to iOS8, the Numbers app crashes every time I try to use my attendance sheet.

I have updated to iOS8.0.2 and I've updated the Numbers app. I generally use my iPad (4th gen, with retina display) to take attendance with the template in the Numbers app. However, every time I scroll through a page with check buttons, the app crashes. This did not happen before updating. Is there a way to get this on Apple's radar, as it seems to be an instability in iOS8? Is there anything I can do in the meantime?

I suggest you try another app.
All of the "Office" document editing applications on the iPad have limitations.  Best try them out to see if they meet your needs.

  • If I buy the Numbers app will it automatically update my old '08 version?

I think I would like to buy the Numbers app as the old iWork version I still have with Mavericks, Numbers '08 version 1.0.3 is glitchy, especially the Find feature. Does Find work well in the new version. I am particularly concerned about editing updating Stock entries.

    Ewan Lamont wrote:
Is there a way to import the data into the new version. I couldn't face opening and closing two versions. This is where the old paper account books might be better.
    Hi Ewan,
I agree that paper is often better!
No need to open and close each version. If Numbers '08 is still working for you, select the cells (or the whole table) and Menu > Edit > Copy.
Go to the new version of Numbers and Menu > Edit > Paste. The paste may lose all the formatting, but will retain the data.
This will be tedious if your original document has many tables on many sheets .
If you mean new version is Numbers '09, you will see that the Find feature is not glitchy.
If you mean new version is Numbers 3, you will see that the Find feature is (ahem) not very powerful.
Which new version are you thinking about?
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • TS1702 The Numbers App is showing an update but each time I attempt to update it fails.

The Numbers App does not install an update. I have tried by wifi and through the cell connection. Help?

Check to see if you can download or update other apps to narrow down the issue to either just numbers or with connecting to the store in general
you can also try a reset (hold power / home button together for 10-15s), reset network settings (settings > general > reset > reset network settings), or deleting the numbers app (tap and hold on it till it jiggles then hitting the x by it) then reinstalling it (appstore > purchased, or appstore > updates > purchased)
    cheers

The app delivered for iOS can't run under OSX on a mac.
The app delivered for OSX on a mac can't run under iOS on iPhone or iPad.
    They are different products.
I repeat that to run Numbers on you iMac you must buy Numbers for OSX delivered on Mac App Store or, if you are running an old operating system (older than 10.6.6) you may download the iWork's 30 days free trial version, install it, update it as iWork 9.0.4 and buy a registration code thru Apple Store.

  • HT1222 Is there a way to password / pass code the Numbers app?

Is there a way to password / pass code the numbers app???

Not that I'm aware of. The iPad is designed to be a single user device, so you can passcode the whole thing, or nothing at all.
There are a few apps that you can lock out with restrictions, but I don't think Pages is amongst them. You can look in settings and restrictions and see what you can lock down.

  • How do i get a numbers spreadsheet from my mac to my iphone have the numbers app so

i have a numbers spreadsheet on my macbook and the numbers app on my iphone. How do i get the spreadsheet from the mac onto the app on the phone so it updates through icloud

    Not according to Apple.
From the document you referred to:
iCloud makes it easy to move Pages, Keynote, and Numbers documents between your computer and your iOS devices. Just sign in to icloud.com/iwork in any modern web browser, and all your iWork for iOS documents will be there — complete with your most recent edits.
Also, according to Ted Landau (emphasis mine):
To convert an iOS-formatted iWork document to a Mac-compatible format and transfer it from iCloud to your Mac, you must download the file from the iCloud website via a web browser.
Which makes the syncing hack he describes in the rest of the article, which I do not recommend, far less useful.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • I have downloaded the NUMBERS App, but cannot open it. Any ideas?

I bought an ipad2 yesterday and downloaded the NUMBERS App but cannot make it work. I cannot open it. Unfortunately I am not used to ipads so maybe I'm missing something.
    HELP Please

Did you use the mac app store? If so, you downloaded it for a Mac.
If you downloaded from the iTunes application, or from the iPad itself, then on the iPad, go to the home page, and press the home button once to bring up search (you may have to press it again) Type in Numbers. Does anything come up?
