In the same document altering page orientation.

Hi, after doing some research on pages. All in the same document it does not seem to be possible to have the 1st page horizontally orientated and the second vertically and changing so forth. Is this possible, or do i have to treat each page as a seperate document.
Many thanks

joe,
Page orientation isn't determined from inside Pages -- it's set in the Page Setup dialog. And it's not possible to mix landscape and portrait modes in the same document. But some very clever users have figured out that you can select all the elements on a particular page, then go to the Metrics inspector and rotate the objects, creating the effect of having a page in landscape mode.

  • How do I hyperlink to a page in the same document in pages

I have used the help and also read the Pages user manual on how to hyperlink to a specific word or words in the same document and nothing works. The main problem is the when I try to set a bookmark the + is not highlighted to add the word or words that I highlighted.

    Tom,
Well, I was considering that a blank page requires a page break, and since you can insert a page break after a page that is so full that adding one more character would force a new page, it isn't exactly on the previous page, either. It's kind of between the pages.
Nevertheless, if you show invisibles, the page break shows itself on the previous page, and if you select it for your bookmark, it will jump to the end of the previous page, so basically your objection is valid. If you have a completely blank page it would be better to type a single space onto the page and use that for the bookmark. I think this could only be the case for the final page in a document; every page before that must have at least a page break or a section break on it.

  • How can I use two different page orientations in the same document?

I am trying to have both portrait and landscape page orientations in the same document.  Pages doesn't seem to like this.  Is there a way?

I tried to comment on another thread about this same issue, but the thread was closed.
In the other thread; however, some asked why rotating one pages was necessary, and if they knew then maybe there would be reason to create the function.
Well, I don't know about why anyone else needs it, but for me it's for the papers I have to write for my masters program. The professors like to have the rubric attached to the bottome of the document so they easily grade and keep things organized. They of course give directions on how to easily change the orientation of the last page in Word, but not all of use Word, or even want to use Word. Maybe I need to ditch Pages and go to Word? I'd really hate to do that!
So, come on Apple, let's get this feature added, stat!

Only Apple would know, and it isn't telling.

Question: In Pages, is there a way to change the orientation within the same document so that one page is portrait and the next page is landscape, for example?

    Hi Vicki,
You can rotate in Preview. See this discussion:

    Every time Firefox opened

How about if you right click on the PDF and select Save Link As..., and then open it locally from within Reader? Does it work ok then?  That might be a workaround until the issue within the browser is resolved.

  • How do you apply 2 different types of page numbers in the same document?

How do one apply 2 different types of page numbers in the same document??? I do not want a number on the first page!

Click in the second section text:
Inspector > Layout > Section > Configuration > uncheck Use previous headers and footers
Then go back and simply delete what's in the header/footer of the first section.

  • Can I flip pages vertical to horizontal in the same document?

    Hi Guys,
Just wanted to know if this was possible... to have several pages in the same document but some in vertical format (8.5 x 11") and others in wide format (11 x 8.5")? Please let me know. Thanks

    In InDesign's default state, no.
However, I believe this plug-in is supposed to allow it:

  • Pages 09 - Portrait and Lanscape view in the same document?

Is it possible to have landscape and portrait layout in the same document?

    Tim,
You're welcome. I don't concern myself much with what Word can or can't do. The issue here is just how to get the job done in Pages with its supporting cast. You may Provide Pages Feedback and if enough voices are heard, you might get your wish. http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html
By the way, Preview is a wonderful program, in my mind. The more you use it, the more you will depend on it.

  • Can Pages display two windows of the same document?

Can Pages display two open windows of the same document? In editing my book and looking for duplications of stories or material, it would be very helpful to see side-by-side windows. Is this possible?

    They must have misread your:
"Please may I have multiple views of the same document."
    as
"Please delete 90 features from Pages and mangle any old documents it opens."
An easy mistake anybody could make.

  • Portrait and landscape in the same document.

Hi there. I'm trying to print a portfolio that has both
portrait and landscape pages in it. I understand that I can change
printing propoerties to print in either portrait or landscape, but
is there any way to configure settings so that both are present in
    the same document?
    Many thanks in advance.

You can't do that in Pages. You either have portrait or landscape orientation of the pages. What you can do is rotating the content of the page if it is an image, objet or table.
If the document is for reading on the screen you can export the document to PDF and in Preview rotate the page.

  • Is it possible to split the same document, Word-style?

I don't know what else to call it. In Word, it was "split."
I often edit two parts of the same document simultaneously, but in Pages 08, I haven't been able to figure this out. "Two Up" is not what I'm looking for.
For example, what I would do in Word was KS ("keyboard shortcut to") split the document, KS half the document to another page (Go To), KS copy information from one part of the document, KS to the other half of the document and paste/modify... in essence, I was editing two parts of the document without touching the mouse.
It saved a LOT of time. Any help here? I've checked the Pages 08 PDF manual. Naming the software "Pages" was also kind of stupid, because Google searches come up with everything BUT software hits. I have the same issues with Numbers... kind of problematic naming conventions.
lol reminds me of the band "Live." Before I knew their music intimately (and members' names), they were impossible to find interviews for and run searches on...

Unfortunately, no, & it still isn't available in iWork '09. I didn't use it too often in AppleWorks, but it was very handy to have. Another "missing" feature is the ability to have two windows of the same document open at once. I suggest you leave feedback for the Pages team regarding this. You can find it under the Pages menu > Provide Pages Feedback. That takes you to the same page as this link.

  • How do you select all paragraphs using the same style in Pages 5.2?

I'm trying to find how to select all paragraphs using the same style in Pages 5.2 without any success.  I writing a book and I need to able to adjust all my paragraph styles globally.  I see how upgrade my paragraph style when I do something new, but not how to revert back to the orginal template.
For example, in my custom template for my book I have 12 font for a review questions paragraph style.  I changed the font size for all this paragraph style to 18 font.  Now I want to change it back to size 12 font.  But I have this paragraph style at the top and bottom of my document.  How to I select all of my review questions style so I can make the font change to all at the same time?
I just upgrade to Pages 5.2 from Pages '09.
    Thanks for the help,
    Rob

  • Adding formula to a cell that is in another table in the same document

    Hi there.
I am new to iwork and i have a question.
I created a document in pages and i added diffent tables in the same document.
The question is how can add a formula to a cell include cells that are on different tables?
    Thanks

Not possible in Pages, only in Numbers.
You will need to have just one table and have the references internal.
You can make it look like separate tables by hiding cell borders etc inbetween, if that is necessary.

  • How do I apply different margins to different section in the same document?

In Pages 5, how do I apply different margins to different section in the same document? there are is no layout break like in Pages 4.

Use the Text Format Pane, Layout Tab, Indents.
You could do the same thing by dragging the margin stops on the Ruler.
