In Tiger, tried to work in Sys 9 and ACK!

Hadn't tried using System 9 in a while. Must convert some old documents to InDesign. But when I opened Pagemaker in System 9, it wiped out Tiger 10.47 on my backup drive. The folder for System, and all its contents, were still present. But when I tried to change startup drive, the Tiger on my backup didn't show. Just the classic System.
Now that I've restored it -- half a day's work -- I'm afraid to try it again. But I gotta.

That's what I originally though, but the new iTunes help files says you have to do this on your computer, in iTunes's app screen, so I thought it was going to work this way until iOS4 came out and you could set up these folders directly on your iphone...
The 9.2 web page is also a little misleading in this regard... both as to the folders and new PDF functionality... never says there that this only works once you have iOS4 in your phone...

Working out of, and saving of, an existing pages doc.

So I am trying to work out of and edit an existanting document. For example, in the past I would have a .docx file in my documents section of my computer. I could open it, make my changes, slick save, and quite. If I wanted to further edit the documents, I could repeat this process. As it stand presently with Lion (or maybe its icloud's fault im not really sure), I can open a document, but as soon as I make a change, I can no longer overwrite the previous document. This is incredibly frusterating.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

There is a possibility that the stick requires more power than the MBP delivers. Try it on a powered hub.

Bootcamp Assistant will read a DVD or an ISO file containing Windows retail versions and create a USB. What installation media for Windows do you have?
If you have a DVD drive and connect to your MAC (or if you have a built-in optical drive), put in your DVD for Windows, Run Disk Utility as indicated and click on the DVD to verify that there are no issues with the media.
Are you following the Bootcamp installation guide available from the apple website?

Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &

Hi,
USB recovery disk was used to recover your system when it encounter problem. You can try to use it to fix your problem instead reinstall system. However, there is no method to keep your program whenreinstall system.

Ok so I happened to figure it out while on the phone to apple support. Even though the guy was very nice, I think I knew more than him! He was explaining very basic resolution principles I played about. I had the second option in displays resolution. All I did was unplug the HDMI cable, click on 'best for display' then plugged the HDMI in and my resolution on the normal monitor changed to the normal blue, then went black momentarily and then changed to a strange resolution but another window appeared that said SONY BRAVIA HDMI at the top! Hey presto! Don't know why it didn't do it yesterday - I probably left the HDMI cable in or something! Oh well. Problem solved!
