In what steps does currency conversion take place in BW?

Hi Experts,
could someone explain me in what steps BW performs the currency conversion making use of the TCUR....  tables.
E.g. we have a certain rate and ratios in TCURR table but these are overruled by settings in TCURF (alternative exchange rate) table.
We did an SQL trace but I did not understand why various steps are done.
Thanks.

  • Where does the processing take place when using a remote front panel?

    Hi,
I am considering upgrading my LabView software from 6i to 6.1 for the new "two click" remote front panel feature. I have already seen a demo of this feature but have just a few questions before I get the upgrade:
My setup consists of several pieces of equipment connected to Labview via GPIB, to aid in the evaluation of a new microchip.
    1. I wish to grant control of the setup to anyone with a web browser, Is the remote monitoring feature compatible with both Netscape and IE?
    2. The VI which controls the setup is currently located on the PC beside my setup. When I embed a VI in a remote front panel, where does the processing take place, is the local VI still controlling the setup? and
the remote panel just sending and receiving data from the local VI.
    Thanks, Troy

The computer which we refer to as the server, the one with the GPIB card
in your case, will execute as it does now. In fact, its window will
even be open. The remote client computer, the one with the web browser
will be running the runtime engine and processing user events, value
change and property/method events from the server. So in reality, both
computers will be sharing the load a bit. This allows for very small
packets to be sent between the computers. It is in fact quite similar
to publishing the data between the computers using datasocket.
One thing to keep in mind. Standard LV includes a license for one
connection. If you want to allow for multiple web browsers to view at
the same time, additional licenses are available. Also, only one user,
remote or server may be in control of the panel at a time. That means
that if you want to be able to operate the panel, changing kn
    obs or
flipping switches, the others will become viewers only until you give up
control. Hopefully this isn't a surprise, but I thought you might want
    to hear about it now.

  • Converting WMA to MP3:  Controlling When Conversion Takes Place?

    Hello. I have a 4GB Nano.
When I load a few WMA files into the iTunes software library, I am immediately asked whether to convert them, or skip them. I choose Convert.
However, I noticed I cannot load additional WMA files during the conversion process. I have to wait until the process is complete before loading more files.
I'd like to know if there is a way to configure iTunes so I can fully load all of my WMA files into the library at once, instead of a few at a time, and choose when I want the conversion to take place.
This isn't an absolutely critical question, because I have db Power Amp and can convert files from WMA to MP3 at my leisure. I just want to know if iTunes can be controlled in this way.
    Thank you!
    Jd

iTunes cannot use wma files so it needs to convert them.
They will not get added to iTunes until they are converted so you cannot choose to convert them later.
I noticed I cannot load additional WMA files during the conversion process. I have to wait until the process is complete before loading more files.
Why not add them all at once?
File -> *Add folder to library* and pick the top level folder where the wma files are.

  • How does account determination take place ??

    dear experts
pls enlighten me on how excatly account determination take place .
what is an account grping code
    what is transaction event key
what is the technical name for keys used in OBYC like BSX , WRX GBB etc
what is the other keys like VAX ,INV used within GBB called
    what are WE,WR etc
How are movement types linked to valuation
Is it possible to create/change all of the above ??
    Regards
    Anis

    Hi
Check in OMJJ -Mvt type - update control - with your parameters (purchase order/production order, stock type (Q or E etc)..Otherwise you can use OMWN directly.
    1. Initial entry (561)
For this entry BSX and GBB-INV
    2.GR against PO(101)
    BSX   and GR/IR ( -)
    3.issue to Cost Center (201)
    GBB-VBR and WRX
    4.Issue against Prod Order(261)
    BSX and GBB-VBR
    5.Sale (601)
    BSX and GBB-VAX(-)
7.Subcontracting ( material sent as component & consumed against 543)
    BSX(+) and GBB-VBO(-)
    8.Sucontracting ( material procured )
    9. Invoice Verification done where applicable.
This is similar to material revaluation (if you are performing revaluation in MIRO)
    then BSX(+) Vendor
    otherwise WRX and Vendor (-).
These are the standard postings keeping aside other differences like PRD, PRA etc. You can check mvt types for postings.
If you want to know how valuation groping code, transaction key, account cat.reference alters the account determination then use OMWB Tcode and enter material, plant, choose movement type and click simulation.
    Thanks

    Hi Amit,
don't understand how this calculation result can be caused. In general it should be:
for a role: (hours - hours already assigned to resource) * role rate
+ hours assigned to resource * resource rate (is assigned in the business partner)

  • How does currency conversion work?

    Hello Gurus,
I am confused. Do we need to enter the exchange rate every time we do a data load/currency conversion, manually. or is it taken care automatically and pulled from web through some tables.
    please explain.
    Thanks,
    Kris.

    Hi,
We pull the conversion rates once every day. Depending on your needs you can schedule it once a day or n times a day at different intervals. We ususally pull from the R3 tables and they get updated once a day.

  • When does the RAW conversion take place in Aperture?

Hi, could anyone tell me when Aperture makes the RAW conversion of files?
is it upon import to Aperture or upon export to an external editor for retouching? i'm just wondering when to import my files into Aperture from Bridge.before i start using Aperture full time.is it ok to do it now or will i get better results when 1.1 arrives?
    thanks, Aidan

You can do it now and then pick the new RAW engine after upgrading to 1.1. If your RAW images are the originals from Bridge, you will have nothing to loose by converting all of them using the new 1.1 engine. Of course, I would play with a test project to better understand the new engine's capabilities, presets, and features.

  • How does DB Operation takes place

    Hi Gurus,
I have a question in the DB Operation of Select.
    Scenario:
I have a SELECT Query on a table which runs for around 1 hour.
After the select process is started at the 30th Minute there is an UPDATE Statement being fired on that table and committed.
Now when the SELECT Query completes execution after 1 hour and returns the result, will it display the OLD Value of the record or the NEW Updated Value of the record.
My assumption is that when the SELECT query is fired it will fetch the data from DATA SEGMENTS and store it in the SGA Buffer Memory and then return the result.
When the Update statement fires it will update the data in the DATA SEGMENT. (more over i believe that the physical location of that record in data block would get changed during a UPDATE)
So when the SELECT statement completes execution it will take the data stored in SGA buffer and return the result.
Please confirm what is the correct answer. How does Oracle Architecture handles this.

    Hi,
    Ranganathan -Oracle wrote:
    Yes Understood that.
So if that select statement which i use is for showing some data in Front End and if user see the OLD value and if he uses that value for manipulation, then the changes of that update statement will be lost and is mostly a Data Loss in the system.
Do we have any option to avoid this.
You can have this problem if you don't write good application.
The way to avoid this problem it's also mentioned in the page I have posted:
Oracle Database maintains data consistency by using a multiversion consistency model and various types of locks and transactions. In this way, the database can present a view of data to multiple concurrent users, with each view consistent to a point in time. Because different versions of data blocks can exist simultaneously, transactions can read the version of data committed at the point in time required by a query and return results that are consistent to a single point in time.
Let's say that you in your application you have a product list and you have an edit button beside each product. If you want to prevent other users to make a change until your transaction is completed you can lock the row when you enter into edit mode (i.e. SELECT FOR UPDATE) and release the lock (with commit or rollback) when the transaction is completed or cancelled.
This will ensure that the row cannot be updated by other transactions.

  • How long does file conversion take to complete?

Well, I've tried saving my ditamap as a pdf and as a composite framemaker doc. So far, neither conversion has worked because it's taken over 2 hours and never completed the process.
Any ideas? Does the ditamap work better in FM if it's created in FM? I created my using XMLMind.
    Thanks for any tips.

    Hi Lucy...
For a large map, this can take many hours (depending on the speed of your system). This is especially the case if your files make heavy use of xrefs and conrefs or you've got a large relationship table. No, it doesn't matter that the files were authored in another XML editor, as long as they are valid DITA. You should start with a smaller set of files to test things before jumping in with a big map.
FYI .. the book-building process in DITA-FMx is significantly faster than that in default FM8 or FM9. It also provides many book-building features that aren't available in default FM, like ..
    - automatic TOC and Index generation
    - the ability to apply separate templates to different map element types (chapter, part, appendix, etc)
    - automatically apply pagination and numbering
    - lots more

when actually is implicit conversion done.
    thanks and regards,
    sri ram.

I'd like to recommand you NEVER to rely on IMPLICIT conversion. It depends on the NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter. If you supply a VARCHAR that can be converted to a date, it will use this default format to try and convert the date. But this can result of weird result if you don't know what is the NLS_DATE_FORMAT ;-)
So, as an advice, always pass DATE to function that accept dates by converting them yourself (TO_DATE(a_date, 'the format you want')...
    Cheers,

  • Currency Conversion loading...

    Hi All,
I am going to perform currency conversion via update rule.  I understand now to write the code in the start routine of the update rules.  Some basic questions below:
    1. How is the exchange rates loaded to BW?  Via the transfer global settings?
    2. How often do you load exchange rates in BW?  What is typical?
    3. Where in BW can I check the exchange rates?
    4. Let's assume the rates are loaded to BW.  Now, a dataload comes in and the currency conversion takes place in the update rule to the Cube.  Let's say that 1 Euro = 1.15 USD on 1/19/06.  So all data loaded to the Cube on 1/19/06 will get this exchange rate.  Now, on 1/20/06 new rates are loaded and the conversion is now 1 Euro = 1.50 USD.  So the next InfoPackage load will get these new rates?
Is this incorrect, or does the exchange rates in BW all have dates, so depending on the date of the document being loaded to the Cube the correct exchange rate is read to equal this date.  Example document date = 1/19/06 so it gets the exchange rate 1/19/06, where all documents that are 1/20/06 will get exchange rates equal to 1/20/06???
Please excuse my ignorance on this subject.  My invovlement with BW in the past has not involved currency conversion...until now
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hello MIke;
Go to T-code RSA1 > Sourec Systems > Transfer Exchange Rates > in the menu Program > Execute in Background > It brings up a screen for print parameters, but the settings apply to schedule this job as required.
The update of exchange rates is updating tables TCURR and TCURV. If you run at the same place the transfer of global settings, the tables TCURF, TCURS, TCURT, TCURV, TCURW, TCURX, TCURC and TCURN are updated.
For details check the programs RSIMPCUST (global settings) vs. RSIMPCURR (exchange rates).
Also if you see these tables for example TCURR then you will see the exchange rate type which you will be using according to your business scenarios and the pick the exchange rate from the tables.
Pls assign points if this hleps.

  • Balance is not zero due to currency conversion

    Hello experts,
could you please suggest me in a solution of the following issue? I use f-28 Incoming payment transaction. Document currency is usd, while local currency is euro. When currency conversion takes place rounding happens and instead of e.g. 3555,14 euro 3555,15 come up. But it appears from time to time due to rounding. Because of this, debit sum is not equal to credit sum (0,01 in our case) and consequently the balance is not zero. So, system displays the message Message no. F5060 "Posting is only possible with a zero balance; correct document".
What are the ways to correct this issue?
    Regards,
    Alex
Edited by: Aliaksei Klimovich on Nov 4, 2011 10:06 PM

    Hi,
I checked OBY6 and the check box was already set. I also want to add some details. In F-28 I use BTE 1020 in order to split amount in bseg-dmbtr field. Have a look please. We have to make an incoming payment 5500 USD - this is document currency. In our functionality we split this amount into 2 amounts: 4500USD and 1000 USD, then we convert 4500 USD and 1000 USD into EURO as euro is local currency. After those conversion I get 2 line items with 4500 USD and 1000 USD in euro in bseg-dmbtr field (4500\fursf eur and 1000\kursf eur, accordingly) instead of line item with 5500 USD (5500\kursf eur). At the end of BTE 1020 FM I get a table with line items some of them are splited as I wrote above. And because of currency conversion while splitting balance is not zero.
The only idea is to spread those difference by open item positions.
    Regards,
    Alex.

  • Currency Conversion - update rules for average rate

I am working in BI 7.0
I have a currency conversion I have defined with RSCUR with the exchange rate type 'M' defined in SPRO -> General Settings -> Currencies -> Exchange Rate Types.  The currency conversion takes place in my update rules.  I've set my 'Time Reference' to 'End of Period'.
I want the conversion to be an average of all rates for the fiscal period.  If I check my table using 'OB08', I find my conversion is only using the rate for the last day of the Fiscal Period.  It is not averaging all the rates.
My question is this.  Can I actually average all the rates for the fiscal period using RSCUR?  Do I need to have the people on the R/3 side have the rates be averages?  Meaning, the rates they update are not currency rates for that specific day but a running average for the month?
What are the best practices for average rates for currency translations for update rules based on a Fiscal Period?
Edited by: Michael Pepper on Mar 3, 2008 8:37 AM

    Hi MIchel,
If you  want the conversion to be an average of all rates for the fiscal period.
    Check under the cloumn ExRt
you may find some row as description as "Average exchange rate"
Create  Currency Conversion type with that exrt type.
use this Currency Conversion type in u'r query for u'r keyfigure.
hope this will be helpfull...........for this you can contact Fi people.
