In what type of HA context should OSS Note 1052984 be applied to?

I was wondering if somebody could clarify the Term u201CHigh Availabilityu201D (HA) in an SAP Context.
I installed a PI 7.11 (SID=ABC) system as part of an HA Cluster Failover.
The u201CABCu201D system is running on Server Host u201C123u201D.
I have another Server Host, u201C456u201D, that is part of the HA Cluster Failover. This server has two other SAP Instances u201CDEFu201D and u201CGHIu201D installed on it.
When u201CABCu201D needs to failover, due to Hardware failure, etc, the two Instances u201CDEFu201D & u201CGHIu201D are shut down by the HA Cluster Software on host u201C456u201D, and then u201CABCu201D fails over to server u201C456u201D, and runs on it until the original host, u201C123u201D is available again for u201CABCu201D to run on.
I was reading OSS Note 1052984, u201CProcess Integration 7.1- High Availabilityu201D, and in this noteu2019s context it seems like HA is referring to an Instance where the
ASCS u2013 (ABAP System Central Services)
SCS u2013 (JAVA System Central Services)
DVEBMGS u2013 (Primary Application)
DB u2013 (Database Instance)
Are all installed on separate servers, and not necessarily on an u201CHAu201D cluster, where one SAP instance resides on one server and can failover to another node B server, when the need arises.
Any insight in to what context Note1052984 is referring to would be very helpful.

So, I wanted to buy a hard disk so that I can use it both on mac and windows xp, so what type of hard disk should I use? Must I partition into 2?

Once in a very long while Apple will have customized firmware on drives, and it is possible to find SCSI/SAS or drives that are destined to be used with high end storage controllers.
But that is the exception that makes the rule.
SATA is SATA. Though.... there are now SATA III drives that don't work in XP, or that need a jumper, and Seagate and some drives have managed to deliver firmware that has caused trouble... and Apple has had to issue firmware updates to help compatibility....

What type of video card should I upgrade to?

I want to upgrade to Bryce 6.0... it has new features I want, plus, it is designed to fully utilize the dual processors in my G5.
But it requires a 128MB video card with OpenGL capability. My G5 came with (and still has) a 64MB GeForce FX 5200.
1) So what type of video card should I get?
And I'm also concerned about the heat (and, to a lesser degree, the noise from a fan)... I've been checking out the ATI website, and a lot of their video cards require a 300 watt power supply.
2) Have any of you experienced problems with with heat from a video card? My loft is fine this time of year, but it gets a little warm in the summer months, even with the breezes off of Lake Michigan.
Also, are there any other benefit to having a high-end video card?
I am open to all suggestions, criticisms, tips, recommendations and ideas. I have no brand loyalty when it comes to video cards. Just don't try talking me out of upgrading to Bryce 6.0.

If you don't need anyting high-end, check into the ATI RADEON 9600 XT with 128MB DDR SDRAM. ATI's 800XT is a very popular card for AGP-equipped PM G5s like yours, but more costly.

these cables would allow you to hook up the monitor without using the adapter... would just save a little bit of space if depth is at all an issue, or the visibility of the cable sticking out that far back.

YYosemite is a Mac OS and it doesn't run on an iPad. You cannot delete or install Safari on the iPad. It is on your device somewhere.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

What type of Capture Deck should I get?

Well I've been capturing footage from my Panasonic DVX-100a Camera for a while now into final cut, and I'm told that I am a fool for doing so (head damge to the camera), so...what type of capture deck should I get? I've gone off on this too many times, so I'll cut myself off as shortly as I can, but since you asked...
I think a retail pricetag of ~ $1675.00 USD is excessive for a glorified VCR, yes. Sure they're handy and hardy, do timecode, A/D conversion, etc.. yes. Great. So do $200.00 cams. I'm guessing the DSR-11 costs about 100-150 USD to make. Compare it so say a Sony PS3 as far as components, R&D costs, the whopping avertisement cost of ZERO, etc, yes they're big fat sham. I understand the history behind the VTR and that it's target audience was primarily industrial/commercial/professional prior to the boom in consumer level NLEditing popularity. But now that we've got firestores and P2 cards and everyone and their brother has a computer with Vegas and a DV camera it's high time that Sony and others get with the program and drop prices on outdated technology.
One always should pay a premium for any high end professional quality piece of machinery- but the DSR-11 in particular isn't THAT solid. Compare it to the DSR-30 in build quality and it's night and day. Then again the DSR-30 cost about 2x the DSR-11 when in production. (still doesn't weaken my argument at how costly the entry level machine is) They just aren't worth as much as they cost period, but due to a controlled market have stayed pricey. Someone should come along and sell a DSR-11 equivalent for 600 bucks, still make a handy profit, and force prices down.

(and I've heard the JVC VCR/combo is pretty weak before it gets mentioned. I mean a true equivalent.) The JVC thing should be sold for 300.

One way to handle that is to use a session bean to access all the data at once and then send back a collection of objects. There's a Core J2EE pattern called session facade that can help:

I'd like to increase the memory on my computer, as I'm running some pretty hefty programs (Parallels with Quicken, CS6, and some architecture drafting softwares) that really bog down the processing response time. It depends...
USB adapters can sometimes freeze up. I've had this problem with a Belkin 802.11b, and Motorola 802.11g adapters. I still think they are great because you can move the adapter around, and far from the PC, but PCI cards would be the most stable.
I think the ideal situation is a a/b/g PCMCIA card with a desktop pci adapter, so you can remove it for use with a laptop too. Also get a decent external antenna, and you'll want for nothing.
At least until 802.11n comes along....

Some drives over 2.2TB started using blocks 4K in size instead of the traditional 1/2K sized blocks. That does not sound like a Big Deal, but it changes the Error Correcting Codes needed and means a new data-separation algorithm inside the drive.
For Operating Systems, it means that you want the smallest block to be 4K instead of 1/2K, because allocating blocks on 1/2K bound will give you logical blocks that split across physical blocks, which will be s-l-o-w.
Mac OS designers saw that stuff coming and changed the software to accomodate it. They included it with other changes in GUID partition map, which worked well at 10.4.6 and later.

Back to the good old days, HP supported only DVD +R discs, some vendors supported DVD -R discs. Now all vendors support both. You may want to try blank DVD +R. Hope this works. Please post back the result.

I am currently having a dillema here because I am trying to optimize a certain
part of a report where in the internal table contains around 300,000 lines of
records. The original internal table is of type standard table. So what the original
programmer did was to delete certain records in a given condition then sort it
by fields 1 and 2 in ascending order. Now, it then loops through that internal table
but gives run time error because it exceeded the limit in our prod server which is only 10 mins.
Now what I did was to try modifying the internal table to make it of type sorted. This is to eliminate
the sort statement. I dont know if what I am doing is right. Help would be greatly appreciated and

I am going to assume you already have at least 1 high quality backup disk. If you do not that should be your #1 priority. NEVER use a backup disk to also store data files though!!!

What type of paper setting should I adjust my printer to for printing business cards?

I am trying to print out some business cards using Avery 5876 2-sided printable business cards.
When I print a test sheet out of my biz cards on regular 20# paper stock and adjust the settings just so, everything goes well and a trial run using the regular 20 # stock everything comes out great! But when I put in the Avery card stock and hit go, the printer goes a lot slower while making the script and images very dark with excess toner on the card stock only. But not on the paper stock. Why is this?
Should I should change the paper settings on the printer from automatic to what setting for business card stock? If so, to what setting? -- Special papers, greeting cards, brochure papers or what??? PLEASE ADVISE.

Is the stock designed for inkjet printers? The cardstock is likley being misread as photo paper by the automatic sensor. I would suggest trying with brochure paper, other inkjet paper or card stock in that order.

Some Envy 15 models came with second bay inside aleady but need reference your model against the service manual downloadable from hp at the support link on this site.
If you don't have model with second drive bay then indeed a caddy for optical bay is easy option.
Your optical bay is 9.5mm Sata interface & they are inustry standard so simple to buy.
