In Which case Vo extension is not upgrade safe

Hi all,
In Which case Vo extension is not upgrade safe
kumar

Hi Anand,
The extended VO with extra parameters or validation is going to substitute the seeded VO after the deployment.
So how does it matter after upgrade if any changes in the seeded VO causing VO extension to stop working?
If this is the case, what is the best practice to customize a seeded VO.
I am very new to OAF and started working on extending a seeded VO.
Any pointers will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
-Mukesh.

Hi Mary, the other so called "Features" of iClound will not work for like Syncing, but eMail will.
MobileMe & dot Mac will still work last I heard.
iCloud Mail setup, even in 10.4/10.5…
Don't delete your old account yet. Just setup a new one in Mail>Preferences>Accounts, little plus icon. Choose IMAP as account type, not ,mac or MobileMe.

  • My extension does not work with firefox 5 and need to be able to download firefox 3.6 or 4. every time try to find it it keeps directing to 5 which does not work with our gaming extensions, the features do now work with f/f5

My friends and I play Kingdom of Camelot, we use the greasemoney extension and various user scripts to play our game, the features in the extension do not work on verison 5 of firefox at this time, and we need to reload either firefox 4 or 3.6 to make them work efficiently.
Every time we go to download version 4, we get redirected to version 5 which we do not want.
I have am Mac laptop and a Windows laptop and would like rectify the problem on my laptops so I can play my game more effectively.

    Yep, I understand...
This is the final news I needed to get to complete my answer... I confronted myself the italian store and the US one and in the US one I didn't find this product...
As for the NI software, was so good that I just bought back my good "old" iMac G5 and will exchange it with this my Intel Mac. The G5 2 Ghz was good, performing as this new Intel (at times I even got the impression was more performing, but I believe is just an impression) and surely didn't have so many 3rd parties problems.
Meanwhile I filled every forum of NI and USB with my questions about the compatibility... and maybe I will be back to an Intel Mac when all would be OK, I'm not in a hurry!
By the way I had a listen to your work: GREAT!
You may hear a sketch version of something we did work on with the NI piano and choir sounds, while the alto sax is played live and the other instruments are from Apple or real keys (yes, we mix a lot of things):
    http://www.garageband.com/song?
while here is a track where we did use both the Orchestral sounds of Garageband (and some of it's loops, mixed with some good old programming) together with some NI sound:
    http://www.garageband.com/song?
We do not often use orchestra if not as here and there (other than in some work as this last one, but is not so frequent). Hope you may like our little works!

I have downloaded a movie which has the extension .m4v.  This will not play on my DVD player and I can't find software to convert it to a more universal format.  Can anyone help?

If you've bought a film from iTunes then you can only copy it to a DVD or CD for backup purposes, you won't be able to watch it on a stand-alone DVD player.

You need to buy and install a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

  • Would like to upgrade to Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 from DNS 6 (which would also entail a necessary upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7) but understand after all this expense and trouble, DNS upgrade may not be compatible with Firefox 6?

    Question
Would like to upgrade to Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 from DNS 6 (which would also entail a necessary upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7) but understand after all this expense and trouble, DNS upgrade may not be compatible with Firefox 6?
Main priority is voice activation upgrade. Ideas about how to proceed appreciated!

AFAIK, it's been over three years since a WinXP laptop or desktop PC has been sold; I specifically bought a laptop in June 2008 because it was being clearanced by that retail chain to meet Microsoft's deadline, and got it real cheap. It was tagged for the store manager to purchase, but he let me have it because I exceeded his expectations for the services I performed for his store and thought I deserved it. Anything that wasn't made for Vista-compatibility will be very iffy with Win7, IMO - so that basically rules out anything that was made before like Oct or Nov 2007.
Unless another DNS 11 user happens to see this thread and can verify whether it works in Firefox 6.0 or not, I don't what to recommend except for you doing a web search to see what other DNS / Firefox users have to say about compatibility.

  • I can not upgrade the iOS on my phone, nor sync the phone because the process starts with backing up the phone which always hangs up at the backing up stage and then will not allow further progress.

I can not upgrade the iOS on my phone, nor sync the phone because the process starts with backing up the phone which always hangs up at the backing up stage and then will not allow further progress.
And for this I guess that it is the backing up of my Podcasts - which are free downloads that causes the hang up. These are items that I have played and synced before without issues. I am thinking this way because these are Podcasts that I used to play but sundenly would not play on my iPhone. Each time I try to play anyone of them it generates the message - this movie could not be played.
I am scared of atempting a system restore because I guess I may lose my SMS for the past two months. Please approach the solution from this point of view.
    Thanks
    Joe

It may have something to do with one of your backup files that has been corrupted before.

  • Extension may not function properly...

My co-worker has been having some issues with her InDesign crashing latley. I opened up her Extensions manager just to see if I could find anything abnormal, and found alot of the extensions for InDesign have little yellow triangle warnings next to them. When I hover the mouse above it, it says "Extension may not function properly because it does not meet the dependency condition. I don't know what this means, or what should be done to resolve the issue.
I checked my extensions manager on my computer at work, and i don't have any of these warnings on my InDesign extensions. So, I'm thinking this might be the cause of her InDesign crashing, but not sure.
I clicked on the checkmark of one of her extensions, Assignment UI, to disable it, but not sure if I should do the same with the rest of them. After I disabled it, I can't see how to re-enable it. I try to click back on the box to enable it, but it doesn't do anything.
She was just upgraded to OSX 9 Maverick today, but prior to that was using OSX 10.7.xx (Whatever the latest version was). I am currently using OSX 10.8.5, but wil be upgrading to Maverick soon as well.
We are both using Mac 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Macs with 16 GB memory. Both are using CS6, with the latest updates for InDesign applied.
If anyone has any ideas on what to do with her extensions that have warnings it would be appreciated.
    Steve

Many InDesign pre-installed extensions (Those extensions you have immediately after InDesign installation) define dependency rules in their mxi files. Dependency means that one extension works well only if one or more other extensions are installed and enabled. If this condition is not met, the yellow triangle warning will be shown.
You can select an extension with warning, click "Advanced" tag page in the lower right panel. You will see "This extension has dependency on: <extension name> ...". Check whether every extensions listed here are available and enabled. If not, enable them. Repeat these steps for all the extensions which have warning.

  • Safari 8 extensions are not saved

    Hi,
on Yosemite with Safari 8 installed, extensions are not saved.
When installing extensions they work. However, when I restart safari the are gone. They are still in ~/Library/Safari/Extensions but not activated and not shown in the extensions tab in the settings.
Any ideas who to solve this issue?
    Thanks

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Extension bells not working with ADSL filters

I wonder if someone could advise me please. Since January I have subscribed to a BT Vision package. Unfortunately I am experiencing trouble with my phone line as a result.
Roughly 15 years ago, due to hearing loss, I had an extra bell installed (a 50E – Serial S/1000/3/K/501724) to amplify the sound from my old phone. In about 2003 I had an extra bell installed, also courtesy of BT – this is sealed against the wall and cannot be removed to check the model number. These bells are incompatible with the internet, so if I have the home hub plugged in, I experience constant white noise on the line (despite ADSL filters on my phone lines) which makes it very difficult to hear what is being said on the line. If extra ADSL filters are placed on the wires for both bells, the noise goes silent but so do the bells. The bells do not seem to work with ADSL filters.
What is BT's policy regarding the upgrading of these non-net-compatible bells?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Barbara

    Hi Keith,
Thanks for the info - the main phone socket is in the hall, and does look similar to the picture, but BT-branded, with a phone and filter coming off it. Directly above that socket is another smaller socket, BT-branded, which leads up to the newer extension bell. The home hub isn't plugged into the hall socket as there's not a power point close enough.
Upstairs in the bedroom there's a more recent phone socket, smaller than the downstairs one with no BT branding, and that's what the home hub is plugged into, along with one of a pair of BT phones, the other of which is cordless and kept in the living room.
The 50E bell (the older of the two) is in the kitchen with the wire going around the outside of the house.

It does seem a bit complex, especially if you have the home hub upstairs. Its quite likely that the extensions do not all originate from the master socket, which makes things difficult.
The ADSL filters are probably breaking the continuity of the bell circuit and stopping the bells working.
It really needs an experienced Openreach technician to re-arrange the wiring so that the bells are both on the same circuit, and  fed from a filtered faceplate, without upsetting the broadband to your upstairs extension. A Broadband Boost technician would probably know more about these issues.
The problem is, that someone will have to pay for the technicians time, as the internal wiring is the responsibility of the customer.
You can see what the BT Care Team say, but in the end, its going to involve some internal rewiring and cost.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Filename extensions will not disappear

Ever since I've had my Mac, (since 4th January), it has displayed filename extensions to every file, despite my having read somewhere that the OS 'comes with filename extensions turned off by default'.
I have, naturally, tried to turn them off myself via Finder>Preferences>Advanced>'Show all filename extensions'. That tick box was already un-ticked when I looked, (despite all the extensions being shown), so I ticked it, closed the window, re-opened it and re-un-ticked the box in an effort to 'force' it to do as I wanted, but to no avail.
At a recent One-to-One session the tutors seemed to think that this was a bug in 10.6.6, (or at least what they described as the most recent manifestation of it), and cited another instance that they had come across since Christmas which was the opposite of my problem- the owner couldn't get his Mac to show filename extensions, no matter whether the box was ticked or not.
Were they correct in this belief, or is there a secret way to get shut of the extensions hidden somewhere in the OS?

My advice is to just get used to it. These filename extensions are important in OSX land, just like they are in the rest of the Free World.
Here's some interesting information you should know that I found at this link:
    http://arstechnica.com/reviews/2q00/macos-qna/macos-x-qa-2.html
"The situation for plain files is somewhat less perfect. There are only two popular methods for representing concrete types: HFS/HFS+ type/creator codes and filename extensions. Mac OS X supports both, but Apple "strongly encourages developers to use file extensions as alternative means for identifying document types." Apple's reasoning is that the Internet, the new "lowest common denominator" of interoperability, does not support HFS-style attributes and forks; it deals only in flat files. Where the overwhelming majority of "flat file" volume formats (i.e. Windows/FAT, Unix/UFS) failed to change Apple's thinking, the pervasive connectivity of the multi-million-node Internet has succeeded.
On the other hand, Apple itself provides a method for preserving HFS/HFS+ resource forks and meta-information across flat file systems. When a file with HFS/HFS+ attributes and/or a resource fork is copied or moved to a flat file system like UFS, the Mac OS X Finder creates a hidden file containing the meta-information and the resource fork data. When that file is copied or moved back to HFS/HFS+, those hidden files are read and re-incorporated back into the file. So while Apple encourages the use of file name extensions, it also provides a mechanism that allows the "old ways" to continue functioning more or less transparently within Mac OS X.
Unfortunately for Apple, the matter of filename extensions is not entirely in their hands. Mac OS X will initially ship with HFS+ as the default volume format. This is necessary to enable the transition of classic Mac OS users to Mac OS X. Requiring users to reformat their drives in order to upgrade to Mac OS X is not exactly good business. Furthermore, Mac OS X's backwards compatibility with classic Mac OS apps requires an HFS/HFS+ volume somewhere from which to run its copy of classic Mac OS inside Classic.app (yes, they could use a disk image, but that's a sub-optimal solution).
Given this situation, Mac OS developers could simply continue business as usual, using type/creator codes (instead of the un-Mac-like filename extensions) to identify the files their applications save. (They could even continue to use resource forks, but that's much less likely. A file that relies on its resource fork will be irreparably broken if it is copied to a flat volume format via any method other than the Finder (FTP, HTTP, etc.), whereas a file's type/creator codes are simple to restore.)
The deciding factor may be the users. Will Mac users accept filename extensions or will they complain bitterly to their favorite application developer that they don't want ".psd" or ".doc" files on their Mac? *Remember that the Finder will not hide any filename extensions* (other than ".app"), so they will be visible to (and editable by) the user."

  • Cannot implement/deimplement notes; upgrade running

    Hello Experts,
We have applied the support packs in SOLMAN system using SUM tool and it was completed successfully without any issue.
Due to some issue we have restore the backup which was taken after the completion of downtime phase i.e. Phase 5.6(Execution).
Now the system is up and running and we are applying the SAP note using SNOTE and it is giving this message "Cannot implement/deimplement notes; upgrade running".
Can you please suggest which steps I need to execute again which was performed by SUM tool itself to make the system productive.
    Regards,
    Shubham

    Hello Deepak,
In my case solman upgrade was completed successfully after executing all the phases of SUM.
    Now the scenario is
    1. After two days I face some issue due to which I have to restored the backup taken during execution phase of SUM (i.e. Phase 5.6) just before post processing phase where SUM prompt to take the database backup and enable the archive logs.
    2. This DB backup is restored successfully and now Solman system is up and running.
    3. Now if I try to apply SAP note it using snote it gives message "Cannot implement/deimplement notes; upgrade running".
But in the SUM guide SAP has not provided the steps which we need to execute if we restore that backup. I am trying to find out which steps I need to execute manually which were performed by SUM tool itself.
    Regards,
    Shubham
