In which file on Linux I can set show bookmark toolbar

''duplicate of https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/904955''
I'm trying to set by default in all users not to hide bookmarks bar. I want to know in which file it is customizable.
I can't use the graphical way, only using files.
Thanks

Please see the following which includes links to

Once Stylish is installed there are tens of thousands of styles which are smaller than extensions. The style included above is only one of them.

I can't get bookmarks toolbar to display. I've checked it to display, unchecked, rechecked restarted FF with and without BM toolbar set to display...
I've tried to follow instructions I found on the web but no Joy.
    What's up!

Maybe your localstore.rdf are corrupted, try rename or delete it, first go to your profile, close Firefox, delete or rename the localstore.rdf file then restart Firefox, maybe you need unhide the hidden files and folders!

Also try go to '''View''' >> '''Toolbars''' >> '''Customize''' in this window look to your bookmark toolbar, if you find it just drag and drop it and put where you want.

  • Under Bookmarks in the Menu Bar, I can access my Bookmarks Toolbar, but I can't get it to appear on screen as a toolbar.

I think I've put the necessary details in my question. When I click on Bookmarks, I can access the ones under Bookmarks Toolbar, but I want to see them below the Menu and Navigation bars.

This would show Bookmarks Toolbar checked, but the items were not appearing on the screen below the menu and navigation bars.

  • How can I synchronize "bookmarks toolbar" and "bookmarks menu" ? They have different bookmarks now.

I just noticed that the firefox sidebar has an entry for "bookmarks toolbar" as well as "bookmarks menu".
somehow, there are differences between the bookmarks in the various subfolders though they are probably 90% identical. There are far too many to go through by sight (I have over a 1000 bookmarks).
    1. Is there an easy way to synchronize the two locations ?
    2. Or, if not a direct way, are there two separate folders for these two bookmarks locations in Windows so that I can synchronize the two folders with a folder synchronization application ?
I want to get all of my bookmars under "bookmarks menu" then empty out the bookmarks toolbar entirely. The resulting bookmarks will be uploaded to override the xmarks folder on their server.
    I hope you can help.

    @brjoon1021
:I did not mistake the Bookmarks menu on the toolbar. If you check the bookmarks menu on the toolbar (the equivalent button) and it is behind, look in the bookmarks sidebar and you will see the updated bookmarks. I doubt that destroying places.sqlite will fix the problem --but it will lose your history which would be far worse.
Look in the Bookmarks sidebar ("Ctrl+B"), you should see three main folders
    # Bookmarks Toolbar
    # Bookmarks Menu
    # Unsorted Bookmarks
If you import bookmarks, all of the bookmarks you import will be added to the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu, which you may very well see as duplicates, if what you imported them from something similar to what you already had. That is what "newsplexer" appears to be seeing.
Previously in Firefox 2 Bookmarks Toolbar was "Personal Bookmarks" and was a folder in the "Bookmarks" folder, importing then placed imported material at the bottom of the Bookmarks folder, what happens now is imported material is added to the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu. If you have a "Bookmarks" folder and a "Bookmarks Toolbar" as a subfolder at the '''bottom''' of the Bookmarks Menu it is not the same, as the actual "Bookmarks Toolbar". The actual Bookmarks Toolbar is also shown as a flyout menu at the top of the Bookmarks menu (I don't know if it suffers from the same lag as the Bookmarks menu, fixed by restarting Firefox).
I find the Bookmarks menu to be almost useless and very slow, and inaccurate after making extensive changes, and instead use the Bookmarks sidebar to examine bookmarks and bookmark structure, and the Bookmarks Library List to examine detail. And even adding scrollbars to the Bookmarks menu does not make it very useable to me.
Firefox 6 attempted to put the Unsorted Bookmarks back into the Bookmarks menu at the bottom not as a flyout as was done for the Bookmarks Toolbar, but as a link to the Bookmarks Library List with "Unsorted Bookmarks" selected.

  • How can I show bookmarks in firefox at all times?

I would like to see my bookmarks when I'm surfing the net. Now I have to open them again and again and again.

You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Cmd+B on Mac)
You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

  • Can't edit Bookmarks toolbar

    Hello,
A few updates ago, for Firefox, made it so that I cannot edit my bookmarks toolbar. I can't delete anything on them, but I can add them and move them if I open up the sidebar. I can't move them around any other way. Instead of a drop box asking for what I want to do, like normal, whenever I right click a bookmark a little white square pops up over the bookmark instead and won't let me do anything.
I just installed the latest Mozilla update and it did not fix the issue. I tried the following:
    1) Remove all extensions, add ons, themes and other things. Restart Firefox.
    2) Clear cache of computer
    3) Updated
The only thing I haven't done is reinstall, because I don't want to lose my bookmarks, especially those in the quick access toolbar (the one I can't edit).
I uploaded an image of what it does. I circled the box in red.
Thank you for reading and for any and all help.

How can I remove previous versions of a plugin? It seems to remove them all.
    </blockquote>
Type '''about:plugins'''<enter> in the address bar. Now search for the plug-in.
    Example;
    '''Adobe Acrobat'''
    '''File:''' nppdf32.dll,nppdf32.dll
    '''Path:''' C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll,C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll
    '''Version:''' 11.0.9.29
    '''State:''' Enabled
Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.9
This will show you the path to that program. Copy the '''Path Only.''' Also
note the name of the file, and remember it. Now '''Close Firefox.'''
Open your file browser and paste the path in the address bar.
Find the file, and delete it. Now you can restart Firefox.
'''Warning !''' Remember to delete the right program.

  • How do I set the bookmarks toolbar to text only? Changed to Icon + Text in v4.

I used to have only text in the bookmarks toolbar in version 3. Now that I'm in version 4, I see a folder icon or the website's icon and the text.
I can't seem to disable this - no preferences or context menu options that I can find.
    Thanks for your help.
    William

You can do that with the Bookmarks Deiconizer extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmarks-deiconizer

  • How do I set my bookmark toolbar to text and all other toolbars to icons?

It seems I can change all toolbars to either be text or icons. I want the look of Firefox 3. In Firefox 3 the bookmarks toolbar was text only wile the navigation toolbar was icons. I can't figure out how to have my Back/Forward/Home buttons be icons with my Bookmarks in the toolbar be text only.

    '''Bookmarks Toolbar Add-ons''':
*https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmarks-deiconizer/ (performs just that one function)
*https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/roomy-bookmarks-toolbar/ (Does much more; settings in Add-ons > Options, "Icon Settings" tab)
'''To show "icons only" on toolbars''' (other than Bookmarks Toolbar), follow the instructions in the article below to open the "Customize Toolbar" window, the at the bottom left, change "Show" to "Icons", then click "Done" at the bottom right of the "Customize Toolbar" window.

  • How can I get Bookmarks Toolbar to go from the bottom of list to top?

Just reinstalled 27 after a crash of my PC. I imported my bookmarks from my HTML, but can't get the Bookmarks Toolbar to go back to the top of the list of bookmarks, above Bookmarks Menu.
Also, how do I get the bookmarks from my Bookmarks Toolbar folder to display at the top of my screen again? Thank you!-Liz

Your reply didn't answer my question, Deb, but it did give me some other info I needed. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

  • How can I show addon toolbar buttons on Android?

More specifically, I'm using Firefox on an Android tablet and I want to use Adblock Edge to block a specific element on a page. On desktop, I'd just use the button in the toolbar, but I can't figure out how to access that on Android, or find any way to do what I want.

Specific functionality about an extension should be directed to the developer of the extension. https://bitbucket.org/adstomper/adblockedge/issues?status=new&status=open

  • How can I lock bookmark toolbar?

I have a software program called "Auslogics Boost Speed 6". Every time it runs automatically to clean my system, the bookmarks on my bookmark tool bar disappear.
Is there anyway I can lock this tool bar so I don't have to add all them back every time this program cleans my system?
    Thanks,
    Jim Yeary

It is best to exclude the Firefox profile folder from this cleaning and use built-in Firefox means to cleanup personal data to avoid corrupting your profile folder.
You can let cookies expire when you close Firefox and remove other data via "Clear history when Firefox closes".
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

  • Can firefox show bookmarks list in alphabetical order like Internet Explorer?

I don't want to have to go to "show all bookmarks" then search for a bookmark. I want to just see the list and go down to the right one, or start typing it and go to it.

    Hi
Easiest way to put your bookmarks in alphabetical order is to right click on a bookmark folder and you have the option to "Sort By Name".
Alternatively, have a look at this list of bookmark related addons ([https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/bookmarks/ link]).
Hope this helps, please come back here if you need any further assistance.

  • I need to send an email where the recipient opens the PDF file with a password,   can anybody help me and show me how to do that

Hello,  I am trying to send an email where the recipient opens the PDF file with a password,   can anybody show me how to do that

    Hi surez,
To password protect a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.
In Acrobat, you choose File > Properties when the document is open, and then click the Security tab to set up a password.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara
