In Windows 7, FF 3.6.8. takes ages to open first webpage

Just installed FF 3.6.8 (dutch) in W7.
After starting FF, it takes ages to load the homepage.
For a whil this goes on for any new site to be loaded, then after about 3 mins. all seems OK.
What is going on here?

It surprizes me, that nobody has a cure for this problem....

Here goes...
1) I have a Macbook 2.2ghz (early 2008) running Leopard 10.5.8 which wont auto update (says it cant connect to internet even though it is - error says A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.) Network diagnostcs says that im connected to the intermet.
2) Also safari and chrome take ages to load pages when every time I open them (around 45 seconds) and then when they are running safari will randomly close and chrome will come up with the aw snap message for random pages (doesnt matter if its trying to loas flash or not).
Iv got Sophos anti virus which is saying theres no malware or viruses, also tried restartiing, re downloading chrome, deleteing my profile from chrome, exporting, deleting and then importing bookmarks and hardwiring the latop to the router. None of these fixed the issues.
Never had these issues and they are really getting on my nerves! Any help would be appreciated.

Kontakt convolution window takes ages to open

When trying to apply the Kontakt inbuilt convolution feature the drop down menue opens and if I click on a preset it takes about 20 seconds ore more for the preset to install. Anybody else noticed this problem? Also some dropdown menues just keep hanging somewhere in the display even if I change my screenset (this also counts for Reaktor 5). Besides that functionality is fine

Others have had that problem too, though I use NI Komplete and haven't seen it yet. I should send the specifics to NI support.

HP MFP 175 nw install takes ages then failed

I purchased a color laserjet HP MFP 175 nw install takes ages
The CD first loaded, then asked me to turn on Printer and connect USB which I did, then it says it has detected the printer and asked me to wait.. the percentage bars goes from 1%..2%.. then 99% and takes age to complete and then say there is a fatal error and need to remove all installation and the installation is unsuccessful.
I goto web to download the install files and still the same.
This make HP customers so angry !!!

I'm sorry to hear that you are getting a fatal error during the installation. I would like to help you out today.
Please follow the steps below to see if we can get you up and running.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Run the uninstall from the CD.
Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window.
Right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Download, save and then run the latest drivers. Don't Connect the USB cable until prompted during the install.
HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw Drivers.
Right after connecting the USB cable, follow this document immediately so you won't get the Fatal error again. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. After this is done the installation should continue.
Test the printer.
Then you will have to go back and enable the startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.

According to your description, if this is related with mapped drive, it might be inaccessable network drives, I suggest you check the network connection between the PCs. Explorer may struggle if there is a problem with the other computers or with
the network.
Or as
britishdhez mentioned, check if a 3rd party program is the culprit.

As far as I remember, Windows uses ANY of the routes with equal metric.
I'm not sure if there is publicly available algorithm, but I believe it may switch from one interface to another if experience packet loss on the current.
So, the conclusion is: the outgoing interface is not predictable.
If you want any kind of reliability you would better to create port-channel and use FHRP on your routers.

New Window takes awhile to open

Whenever I try to open a new window, either by clicking New Window, hitting CTRL N, or clicking on a link to open a new window, it takes the window 30+ seconds to launch. While it is in the process of opening Firefox works normally and I can work in other windows without issue. Creating a new tab or opening links in a new tab works fine. Disabling add-ons did not fix the problem. Neither did uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox (same profile though). Doing a Refresh and having Firefox reset the profile DID fix the problem. However, as soon as I set up Sync again with my primary desktop to restore my settings, etc. the problem came back. I have had this problem for as long as I can remember, but just didn't have time to troubleshoot it until now. I am guessing there is a setting buried in one of the files and I am hoping someone can help me change it so I don't have to start from scratch rebuilding the profile the way I like it. Thanks for the reply. I was able to save the data on the Macbook Air whose HD got corrupted by using File Sharing (ethernet connecting two Macbook Airs).
I am also going to make a disk image of the HD using Disk Utility and mount that Disk Image onto an external hard drive. That way I can save the hard drive contents.

FAST enabled MView takes ages to refresh

Hi All,
I have a materlialized view which is based on a single fact table ( OAS_BALANCE_UNIONED 11,445,156 rows) and a bunch of dimension tables each containing limited number of rows (a typical start schema).
The conditioins to make the mview fast refreshable have been met so the mview created successfully with the FAST option.
The mview then worked just fine after than and had been refreshing FAST (6 minutes) for the whole day till other mviews started to refresh in the same time. Some of those mviews read from some of the base tables of the mview in question. Since then, the mivew has started to take ages (3 hours) to refresh. There is surely something wrong because the COMPLETE refresh was faster than that.
Later, I stopped all the refresh jobs of the other mviews. Yet, the FAST mview still has the same problem of taking ages to refresh.
When I monitored the session that refreshes the mview, I noticed in the "Long Ops" that
most of the time is spent on a step named as "Hash Join" (it appears in the Message column). Hash join occurrs because of the outer join.
Why my FAST mview suddenly started to take so long time to refresh?
How can I make my FAST mivew really refresh fast?

Hard to say why the refresh is now slow. Possibilties include
* system resources implemented by the fast refresh
* something changed on the query making the background query run slowly
Look at the query first. 18 tables, with almost every join an outer join. Some of the tables appear more than once in the query.
Get an executioion plan to see how the query is being executed.

When i log on to thunderbird, the in box has the message, 'building summary file', this then takes ages to do . how do I stop it doing this every time I log on?

Setting up my Line6 UX1 with Audtion 3.0 on Win7 - settings dialog takes ages to respond

I downloaded the trial of Adobe Audition 3.0 (I've been using 1.5 on WinXP for a few years now and it's always been fine to use!)
I am trying to set up my Line6 POD Studio UX1 with Audtion 3.0 on Windows 7 Pro (64 Bit - 32GB RAM Quad Core Intel i7 3770 Processor)
I am noticing that the Settings dialog takes ages to respond and update with the changes I make - when I eventually managed to get playback - the playback only came out on the left monitor.
I should mention that I am doing this on a previous Audition 1.5 session - Audition 3.0 saved the session as a new session so I think that should be fine.
What I'm looking for here is the correct settings I need to use in Audition 3.0 to use my UX1.
I don't want to pay for Audition 3.0 if it's not going to work for me!

You won't be able to pay for Audition 3 since it was discontinued several years ago. However you may be able to upgrade to AA3 for free as a previous Audition user.

Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
From the drop down menu click Restart.
See if that makes a difference ...

Firefox takes forever to open/startup. How can I fix this?

I am running Windows XP. All updates are current. IE opens up fast, but Firefox takes forever. Also, it is using way too much memory. Please advise.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

ITunes takes ages to load

When it finally does it takes ages to be able to select anything and when I plug in either my iPhone or iPad it freezes and has to be shut down throughout the control menu.
Everything else starts and play correctly on the laptop

Small update...
WHen Itunes did eventually load... a few odd things happened.
1. The icons on my toolbar flicked to white / blank and then came back
2. Windows Update sprang into life and asked me to install 1 important update
3. I got an error message
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
5. I clicked Yes...
6. It said it was checking my itunes library
7. I got a message The Bonjour service has been disabled. Bonjour is required to share music with others. Please re-enable the service to use this feature
8. This didn't seem to bad so clicked OK
9. BUt then Itunes disappeared again. It is still running in processes but isn't open.
Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
