In Windows, all links are hidden until movie loads.

Hi,
Anyone else encountered this issue? I have pages with video, that when viewed on a pc everything else but the video loads up (you can see it pop up for a second), then disappears until the entire QuickTime movie has finished loading - leaving a blue 'highlight' everywhere.
When the movie has loaded, the rest of the graphics appear.
My thoughts on possible causes are;
1. I used a blank template in iWeb for all my pages, not a 'movie' template - could this affect the loading order?
2. I have edited all the links in Photoshop and replaced them post-publishing (for rollover effects).

Believe it or not, this is the normal behavior of iWeb pages when viewed through Internet Explorer. iWeb pages contain PNG graphics. IE cannot handle PNG graphics natively. So iWeb generates some fancy javascript code to convert PNGs on the fly so that they are viewable on IE. Unfortunately, this transformation does not happen until all the elements are downloaded. This is why your graphics do not appear until the entire movie is downloaded.
So the real problem is Internet Explorer and its inability to handle PNG graphics. Try FireFox and your page will render correctly.

This started with upgrade to FF 10. I've tried switching Tabs options on and off but everything keeps opening in new tabs rather than switching to the link in the open window. This leads to many tabs that I have to chase to get to the page I wanted to open.

* do NOT make changes in the first window,just click on continue
* use only the default firefox theme
* if you continue to have problems; then whilst still in safe mode disable all plugins
It is also worth trying to ensure all extensions are uptodate

You may have to try using the reset controls and toolbars option from safe-mode BUT that may loose customisations that you have made.

All links are for IE not firefox

Before I updated to version 4.0.1, I could open any webpage with Firefox, now I can only open with IE. For example CCleaner, at the bottom when I click check for new versions it opens up the home page with IE instead of FF. Another example my friends send me files with links to the sites where it can be found and the icons are in IE only. Before it was in FF only. I hate using IE and want it the old way before the upgrade. Also had the option when I right clicked a link where I could open with FF, IE, ect. now it's gone. I figured when I upgraded it would be same as before. I am liking the old version better.

Poster Frame QT Movie linked to standard QT Movie loads in Firefox not I.E.

Ok, this may be a rare question here. Here's what I've done following a small blurb of directions in iMovie6/iDVD the Missing Manual by David Pogue. (awesome book)
I've created a "poster frame movie" in QT. This is a one -frame movie I use as the picture on the page.
This poster frame movie, when clicked, is linked to a full version of the same movie that opens in the same place. The reason for this poster frame movie is to start the QT plug-in download as soon as someone reaches my page so there is no wait time when they click to watch the movie, it should be instantaneous.
I tested this last night on my Mac with Firefox, and after clicking the poster frame movie (i.e.) the picture; the linked movie loaded right away. This worked on PC with Firefox as well.
However, when this is page is loaded in Internet Explorer, on Mac or PC, the poster frame movie is there, but when clicked, the full movies do not load.
Can anyone think of why or what setting I.E. may have that doesn't allow my QT movies to load when other browsers allow it?

Yup, that's your problem.
Before the <embed> you should add:

As predicted, your problem is that while the QuickTime plug-in has the HREF and TARGET parameters, they are missing from your OBJECT code, meaning that the QuickTime ActiveX Control will never see them. You need to include all parameters in both places (unless you want different behavior in IE).
Also, TECHNICALLY, you should also add a </embed> just before the </object>. The <embed> tag, like, for instance, the tag is self-closing, but the most recent XML standard (HTML is a subset of XML) says, "Thou shalt close all of thy tags". So it won't make a bit of difference in function, but it is good practice. And yes, you should also close your tags and use or , too.
(although technically we're not supposed to use EMBED at all anymore, as it isn't in the HTML spec, but it works with all browsers except IE while OBJECT doesn't always...)

Moving a message to another file: not all files are listed by "MOVE": how do I get a local file shown on the left of the screen onto the move command list?

I have some 20 "local" files, but when I want to copy or move a mailing only about half of these are listed as possible destinations. Why are some of then hidden and how can I get the full list to appear in the Move (or the Copy) window?

I can't reproduce that here. I get a whole folder tree to explore.
However, I prefer to use QuickFolderMove.
It turns the '''right-click|Move To''' pop-out into a MRU list along with a text entry box so you seek a folder by entering all or part of its name. The beauty of this is that it doesn't care which folder or account the target folder is in. The downside is that you need to have a pretty clear idea of the name of the folder you're looking for.

All links are bringing up same image. PLEASE help

I have had minimal problems working on GL CS2 version 8.0.1 on my Macbook Pro, and I really like the program. Now I have added a photo and it has an open new window action attached to it. (just like all my photos do). I uploaded the page and the new files with it to the FTP server. (same way I always have). Problem is, when I go online or check it with any browser on GL and I click any link or photo on that page, it brings up that photo I downloaded. It seems to have nothing different about it than the other photos and links, but it does this on all browsers and I can't figure out why. I looked through this and other forums with no help. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Imported favorite bookmarks from IE and now all links are to BBC news

I downloaded and installed Firefox, imported favorites/bookmarks from IE running Windows 7, and now all the bookmarks that seemed to have been imported point to BBC news link.
Any suggestions?

Hopefully that method will work better.

When closing my Firefox window, all processes are not closing requiring me to open task manager and kill the process before using Firefox again. Received recent upgrade and hasn't worked right since then.

I open Firefox, use it, then close the window. Try to reopen Firefox and it fails with a message that a previous process is still running. Requires me to open Task Manager and kill the old process.

Try to wait a bit longer before reopening Firefox to give Firefox more time to close completely. 
Try to use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

After Upgrade ALL Links Are Highlighted

My system crashed, as it has many times at Ameritrade site, and in restoring my open windows, Firefox automatically updated, and now every link on any open web page is highlighted. I want to turn off the highlighting.

I'm not sure what you mean with highlighted.
Do you mean that it is in a different color or has a background color or is bold?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

There is no pop-up blocking, but none of the "new window" type links are working.

When I would like to open a picture(for example: ebaying, and enlarging the product -> comes in another window) I get empty new screen. I also have problems with Adobe(pdf files are not opening). I changed back to 3.6.10 but problem still persists. Seems like I cannot open anything where I see on the bar: javascript:;

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Customize The Window A Link Opens

Hey, I've had some great success with this forum before. Fast responses, friendly people, and fantastic answers so I though I'd ask for help with something else I've struggled to get answers through googling.
I have products on the site I'm building, and I'd like to save space on the product pages by showing medium sized thumbnails of the product, however I still want people to view larger images of the products, and so I've placed a "Larger Image" button, and I have it linking to a new window where they can view a larger image of the product. I've used target="_blank" to have it open in a new window. The link opens a whole new window though. I'd like this new browser window to open in a much smaller size, and without the address bar. Much like how this website has it set up:
I'm lost on what I would use to customize the window my links are opening in. Any help or advice is, as always, greatly appreciated!

I would like all links to open in the active tab, unless I command-click on the link.

I've searched for answers to this question, and I was able to adjust the values for preferences in about:config so that all links open in the active tab, but after doing so I am unable to command-click to open a link in a new tab. Is there any way to change certain preferences so that command-clicking will override the browser.link.open_newwindow preferences? Or maybe there's some other way around this?
This might seem like an odd request, but several sites I use (Tumblr especially) open nearly all links in a new tab by default, and it quickly gets out of hand. A "same-tab unless command-click" configuration would allow me to control where every link opens. Also, I would still like all links from external applications to load in a new tab.
I'm using Firefox 32.0 on Mac OS X 10.9.4.

Bookmarks going haywire. multiplying over and over again and also all links have turned into one single links copied into all folders

Sir, all my bookmarks are multiplying over and over again . Although i have been able to restore them to the previous date but all links are now converted to same link website . Not only that it is being synced across all my devices . Please sir kindly help me resolve it. The only links that are correcclty displayed are "most visited " ones.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Anyone else able to access store OK but all links inoperative?

I have not seen this one before. I am able to access the music store no problem, but all links are acting like I am not even clicking on them (even though I am). Even the blue up/down scroll bar on the far right column is inoperative and not moving at all. Anyone else having this problem or have heard what is wrong? I could not even use the support link on the home page to get here to write this, but was able to do so through exiting out of the store and then just re-entering under my internet connection and punching in the Apple website.

4 hours
6 system restores
5 uninstalls
3 quicktime uninstalls and downloads later IT IS FINALLY WORKING!!!
I went back to 6.0 as well then uninstalled and reinstalled quicktime and it seems like the problem is fixed ( fingers crossed)
from my experience maybe uninstall and get the latest quicktime - that may work?

Press the Tab key, it shows/hides panels.
Or Window > Workspace > Reset or use a different workspace.
