In xp sp3, Organize Bookmarks missing in bookmarks menu? Cannot manage bookmarks. Pls. advise solution. Thxs.
Recently installed 4.0 in 2 computers & noticed that the Organize Bookmarks option in the bookmarks menu is missing.
In Firefox 4, using the Firefox button:
*click on the word "Bookmarks" will display the Library window (old: Organize Bookmarks, new: Show all Bookmarks)
*click on the arrow to the right of the word "Bookmarks" will display the drop-down list (like the old "Bookmarks" on the Menu Bar; and "Show all Bookmarks" is shown there which will also open the Library window)
The structure of the menu has changed and some of the wording/descriptions changed by the developers.

What happened to the Organize Bookmarks feature it's missing?
Downloaded and installed FF4 today.
Searched for Organize Bookmarks feature and it's missing.
I backup my bookmarks by exporting.Renamed to Show All Bookmarks.

In the old version of Firefox there was a way to move and organize bookmarks by clicking on the "Organize Bookmarks" link in the Bookmarks menu.
Firefox: Please change the name back. "Show all bookmarks" does not mean the same thing as "Organize bookmarks". Why on earth did you think that the new name was better?

Properties missing from Organize Bookmarks
I'm unable to access the properties in Organize Bookmarks even though I'm able to access them in Bookmarks sidebar. I prefer using Organize Bookmarks vs Bookmarks sidebar. I'm not sure how soon after upgrading to Firefox 3 I started having this problem since I don't use the bookmark properties a great deal.
I've been advised that a panel on the right side of the Organize Bookmarks should appear when selecting a folder or bookmark as I remembered it working previously, but it is not there.
This problem persists when all add-ons are turned off as on option through Safe Mode boot, but the panel still didn't appear. If I boot directly into Safe Mode the panel appears.
Also no handle appear to open such a panel.
Thanks for the helpIn the Bookmarks Manager you can make the changes in the Details (Properties) pane at the bottom right.
There is no need to open the Properties via the context menu.<br />
That Info pane has a More/Less button to make extra properties show up.
* You can change the Properties (including the name) of a Bookmark or Tag in the Details (Properties) pane at the bottom of the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks: Shift+Ctrl+B) after selecting an item. You can rename a tag by selecting the Tags folder in the left panel and change the name in the Info pane at the bottom right.
* You can make changes to a Bookmark in the Bookmarks menu drop down list or in the side bar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks, Ctrl+B) via the Properties entry in the right-click context menu.
* You can open a bookmark in a tab and click the yellow (blue on Mac) star in the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" pop-up. -
I do not have 'Organize Bookmarks' in my bookmarks menu. Help?
All the Firefox help instructions refer to 'Organize Bookmarks' on the Bookmarks menu, but I don't have that sub-menu since I upgraded to Firefox 4.0! I do have a Bookmarks menu but it is just missing that 'Organize Bookmarks' on the menu.
I'm using Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista.Thanks. That did work. Who'd have thought that 'Show All Bookmarks' would do it? I didn't try that because I had visions of my complete bookmarks list, including all the sub-folders, would appear. I have way too many bookmarks, I admit.
Thanks again.

I cannot find the 'organize bookmarks' button AND menu entry on the new browser
1. The 'organize book,arks' menu item in the bookmarks menu is missing.
2. When I try place the bookmark button along with other buttons, it never appears. (in customize toolbars)
Help !!!"Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in the Bookmarks menu in Firefox 4.
I believe the bookmarks button will appear on the main toolbar only when the bookmark toolbar is hidden. -
I was trying to export my bookmarks to Safari and the instructions were to: Go to Bookmarks - select "Organize bookmarks" and "export to HTML". I can't find the "Organize bookmarks" tab on my tabs bar.
This came about because Firefox would not let me access my On Star account (kept getting error messages about a mis-direct).Menu changes (wording), "Organize Bookmarks" under the Bookmarks menu has been changed to "Show All Bookmarks -- Ctrl+Shift+B" with the same keyboard shortcut. They didn't like the new wording either and it is expected to be changed in a later version (but no further changes seen yet in betas).
I always use the keyboard shortcuts anyway.

You can make Firefox '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.18, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6)]. Where is "organize bookmarks" now?
You just made it impossible to remove unwanted sites from "bookmark"- i.e., the "organize bookmarks" item is now gone.
Why? More important, how do I delete bookmarked items I no longer want?"Organize Bookmarks" was changed to "'''Show All Bookmarks'''" and they weren't happy with that so they were going to change it but I haven't seen anything more on that, probably won't get changed for some time because they really messed people up -- the ones that have no idea of where to ask for help. You can use the same methods that you used before, perhaps even improve them from the following two articles;
* [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox Sorting and rearranging bookmarks - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
* [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Viewing_the_browsing_history_-_Firefox Viewing the browsing history - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
Selecting, searching, and deleting is best described in the History article, and the Bookmarks article refers to those sections on the History article -- perhaps redundancy would have been better.
You have several choices for bringing up the Bookmarks Library Listing (directons on Windows)
# "Ctrl+Shift+B" using the keyboard shortcut
# "Firefox" button > Bookmarks (2nd column) > Show All bookmarks
# Bookmarks ("Alt+B") > Show All Bookmarks
# "Alt" > Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
Keyboard shorcuts:
* [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Keyboard%20shortcuts Keyboard shortcuts | How to | Firefox Help]
* [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/keyboard.htm Firefox and other Browser Keyboard Shortcuts (Comparison Table)]
You can make '''Firefox 8.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0 and up, look like 3.6)]. I updated to Firefox 4.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.4. When I go to the "Bookmarks" drop down menu, there is no "Organize Bookmarks" command. How do I do the operations that were under that command such as add new folders, move bookmarks, export bookmarks, etc.?
"Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu.

My bookmarks aren't showing up in the menu, but they show up in Organize Bookmarks
== Issue
==
I have a problem with my bookmarks, cookies, history or settings
== Description
==
OS: OSX 10.6.4
Browser version: Firefox 3.6.8
This has been happening for a while, but it's starting to get very annoying.
This problem does NOT always happen, it seems to happen randomly. It can sometimes be fixed by quitting and re-opening Firefox, but I generally have to quit and open several times.
My bookmarks and history will not show up when using the menu bar. (File, edit, view, hist, bookmarks, tools, window, help)
They do, however, show up in my bookmarks toolbar, organize bookmarks, and show all history.
I have tried updated torbutton, but that doesn't change anything.
Any ideas?

I used Organize Bookmarks to put some bookmarks in folders. When I had done all the bookmarks that appeared outside of folders in the Organize Bookmarks window, I closed it and looked at my bookmarks menu. Under my folders were some other bookmarks that I hadn't seen in Organize Bookmarks and when I used it again, they still weren't visible. Therefore, I couldn't move them into folders.
Update - I discovered that the entire list of bookmarks can be accessed in the Organize Bookmarks window by clicking on the icon for Bookmarks Menu.
This seem like odd interface behaviour to me.
All the other software I use follows the pattern that an icon with a triangle to the left, which you click on to expand the menu tree downwards, shows the entire contents of the category when you click on the triangle. In other words, you don't get a different response by clicking on the icon from what you get by clicking on the triangle.
It also seems odd to me that when an unsorted bookmarks folder is automatically provided that unsorted bookmarks would not be placed there by default.
Anyway, by getting the list of bookmarks displayed this way I was able to simply right-click on items in the list and delete them, as I thought I should be able to do. Problem solved. Organize Bookmarks interface found to be somewhat unintuitive. -
I switched computers and am in the process of adding by bookmarks and tagging them. Some of my tags no t longer appear in the drop down even though I have just viewed them. Any suggestions?
The Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) is for displaying the bookmarks in different sorting orders (hence the name Views) and doesn't sort bookmarks permanently.
Right-click a folder to open the context menu and choose "Sort By Name" in the left pane of the Bookmarks Manager or in the side bar to sort the bookmarks alphabetically or drag bookmarks to the wanted position. If dragging doesn't work then use Cut and Paste instead.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox -
This is Firefox 3.6.8 and Mac OS 10.5.8.
Right clicking on a bookmark does nothing. I don't know if that is a Firefox version issue or a mouse issue, but the mouse can right click on the Mac OS desktop and get the usual menus.
It is possible for me to delete bookmarks which still point to an active web page because there I can use the star to edit the bookmark. That is way too cumbersome a process for the long list I have. Some are old and no longer point to an active page. The star comes up empty in those cases anyway and I can do nothing about the bookmark.
Bottom line is that I just need a way to see the whole list and choose the ones to delete.
I thought they should all show up in the unsorted bookmarks folder but it is empty. That may be the crux of the problem.Update - I discovered that the entire list of bookmarks can be accessed in the Organize Bookmarks window by clicking on the icon for Bookmarks Menu.

Upgraded to Firefox 4.0 earlier this week (4/11/11). Have been using and recommending Firefox for years (in spite of the websites that don't work well on it) but liked very little of the new 4.0 look (flat, colorless, buttons not very visible against theme graphics...) Do like the new Zoom buttons (thank you for that!), but re-arranged all buttons immediately. Don't like Tabs on Top - changed that - and turned the Bookmarks Toolbar (BT) on as well. Tabs shifted correctly, but no BT appeared... The Bookmarks sidebar works fine, but I no longer have Organize Bookmarks in the Bookmarks menu.
Today (4/16/11), after trying to revive the BT several times, researching problem in support, trying out the App Tab (OK, but not a substitute for BT), I restored to previous version of Firefox. The window looked like what I remembered, except the BT was gone. Aaarrgh! I've done nothing else to Firefox or my Mac recently.Upgraded to Firefox 4.0 earlier this week (4/11/11). also in the file menu the option of import/export bookmarks is no longer there. Is there a newfangled way to organize and back up book marks, or have I lost all control of manually editing and backing up my book marks?
Organize bookmarks is now called "Show All Bookmarks" in the Bookmarks menu. It opens up the same bookmarks organizer that was in Firefox 3.6
